 The butterfly Magus was just wandering the halls, perhaps sighing a lot. She had an unproductive training session earlier in the day and was having difficulties even studying some of the newer books she was able to acquire. A lot of her magecraft she figured out on the battlefield with a lot of assistance from Teacher and her fellow classmates from the Clock Tower in El Melloi the II’s class. The Naginata is still being a bit difficult to Master, even though it’s been over 6 months since she acquired it. Channeling her mana through it has become easier, but everything else is just a struggle.   She was so lost in her mind she almost didn’t feel Angra through their Master-Servant bond. She tried not to hide her pain but her façade threw itself back up and she gave her practiced smile.

“Hey Angra! It’s good to see you.” She paused, a bit confused at why he was just standing there. She furrowed her brow slightly but went back to her composure. “I was just going for a walk, you know, getting some exercise. Maybe get a snack or something, I’m hungry.” She tried to hide her bandaged hand, it was a bit strained from a training attempt gone wrong. Yuuki noticed he wasn’t looking like his usual self, and tried to continue anyways. Sometimes when things go wrong, denial is all you have and she has that in spades!

Is Angra more a generally good person who does bad things due to a variety of factors (including the fact it’s his “job” as All the World’s Evil), or more a generally bad person who just does nice things once in a blue moon? I thought the general take away was moreso the former but I worry that that’s “woobifying” him.

It's not that simple. It couldn't be that simple because Nasu wasn't interested in giving a concrete answer to Kotomine's questions back then. Whatever Angra's nature was doesn't matter anymore because his personhood was already thoroughly stripped away from him by his extreme circumstances.

If I had to give one simple objective answer about his morality, that'd be: Angra kills strangers. We see him killing random families at their houses in Hollow. His mud killed many in the Fuyuki fire. Gilgamesh knew he'd kill millions if unleashed by his wish. He was reasonably expected to kill many more if Sakura gave him flesh.

Angra is willing to torture strangers. He made Kiritsugu kill his family multiple times in Zero's Grail nightmare. He trapped Bazett in an infinite loop of combat.

But the keyword here is strangers. Caren handled him perfectly by dropping her whole backstory in their first long interaction. She immediately becomes someone he knows, and when he knows someone, he cares immensely, to self-sacrificing extents. He fit seamlessly in the Shirou role because of his capacity to care about everyone Shirou knew. And the culmination of his character is his getting to know and care about Bazett enough that he's willing to offer her a new future at the cost of the nightmare loop that allows him to continue existing.

Is the hollow ataraxia (All timelines are merged) thing canon or was just a weird thing Angra made up?

the events of hollow ataraxia are exactly as canon as the routes in the original f/sn, which is to say that it's complicated and varies from timeline to timeline

hollow ataraxia is an "ideal happy ending" composed of every contradicting timeline colliding in a way that gives everyone a happy ending, except those contradictions mean that they know something is off. it's the only circumstance where everyone could live a happy life after F/sn, but everyone knows on some level that it can't be real

so to answer the question more directly, it's both! things that angra makes up can also be real

While the other Servants may stand against her, that doesn't make her any different than the others. Though... it doesn't seem like she has proper Command Spells?

I definitely agree that besides his mood varying from the time he's summoned/whether he's incarnated or not, he's also affected by his Master. Kirei also wanting to bring about angra mainyu works well in Gil's decision to cull the world, but I really wonder what would happen if he was incarnated in the modern day with Hakuno as his master. I wonder if she'd be able to reel him in from going off the deep end

That's an interesting question to which I don't have a certain answer and also it depends about which universe we're talking about. About Hakuno's universe or our universe?

If we're talking about Hakuno's universe I can't say too much since we don't know too much about what kind of world it was and what people were doing before it got corrupted by BB since all of the events were happening in the cyberspace outside the Holy Grail War and that cyberspace serves more like a "purgatory" or maybe "limbo" for lost souls that cannot exist outside this cyberspace. Plus Hakuno is not technically a human and also mostly amnesiac during their journey and we don't know much about them, their past and their true wishes and goals and why they got into Holy Grail War and also everyone is collaborating for the same goal even after getting back some of their memories instead of getting on each other's throats. And since Gilgamesh was mostly cut off from those triggering factors he's acting more chill and reserved.

But if we're talking about our universe and our modern world I don't think that Hakuno would help too much and won't really change his convictions since he would still mostly be affected by his surroundings because first and foremost he's the king and an arbiter of this world and the world became more messed up, I mean, it already was but with technological progress it became more wicked and twisted.

And as we know Gilgamesh is not against technological progress and all that stuff, he fully welcomes it and supports it but what bothers him is what people have become while he was "away" and how a wish granting tool became cursed because of greedy and wicked nature of humans.

He's bothered how human life became worthless in this world and also (I failed to mention it in my post) how greedy and gluttonous people have become. And sure he might hate that just out of jealousy since mongrels are now allowed to get the privilege that only king has but I also think that he wants to give humans that are blinded by greed, gluttony and other sins a lesson that if they won't change their ways of living it would lead them to their doom and the best lesson is to make all humans without an acception feel their own evil with their own skin.

So I think Gilgamesh would act the same way with Hakuno like he acts with Tiné since there's not much to do since it's not his job to parent humans and lead them by the hand since he wants humans to be independent in their choices and learn how the world works by themselves and, well, humans themselves are already doing a pretty good job in punishing and destroying themselves even without his help, so he would just stand on the sidelines and watch the world burn. But still he would give them some guidance (in his own way) to make people understand and maybe learn their mistakes so there's a small chance of his intervention if things would get out of control but still the result won't be pretty for everyone.

Harry had called on darkness in exchange for eternal life as a spirit of the night, evil and powerful enough to continue bringing harm and terror to people even in death. He didn’t care if that meant he would need to murder himself and his entire family. To spend an eternity as an evil spirit who could manipulate humans and bring their souls with him was to him, the perfect way to spend perpetuity. He just didn’t realize that the catch was that his eternity would be spent in his childhood home. He would not be able to leave the perimeter of the property.

Luckily for him, humans would still come to the house to visit the supposed evil spirits that haunted it. The house was quite the attraction. Especially during Halloween. Sometimes Harry would appear to them before killing them. Other times he’d just stop their hearts or snap their necks to make it clean. Now, if they ventured into the basement, well, that was another thing altogether and Harry wasn’t liable for the way they died at the hands of the vengeful ghosts that lived down there. Most of the time Harry would let them leave. Many people who broke into the house weren’t worth keeping around. Though, it turned out, that murdering a person and capturing their soul to keep in the house with him for all time wasn’t the best way to make friends. None of the spirits really wanted much to do with him. He had to force encounters with them if he wanted company.

It also didn’t help that Harry would occasionally have sex with his victims before killing them, or even after death once their being had turned into a spirit. They rarely consented and this usually just made them retreat further into the shadows. But how else would he get laid if he didn’t force a few people to have sex with him? He always tried to make sure they enjoyed it at least. But he did love the struggle. Humans tended to be easier to coerce than ghosts.

Harry just didn’t care. When Harry was alive, he was obsessed with murder, the dead, demonic sacrifice, sexual deviancy, and he longed to live forever. Ever since he was young there was something wrong with him. His parents couldn’t understand why he was so different from his sister and brother but Harry thinks it’s just because he was born evil. Which is why his pact with Angra was his logical next step. Angra is like the Holy Spirit, but opposite. The evil version of the Holy Spirit that would answer the call of those wanting to be filled with his presence.

Harry had killed countless stray animals and murdered four people before finally killing his family and himself on the morning of Halloween 54 years earlier. The murdering of his family and himself was a sacrifice to Angra in exchange for his eternal life. And Angra gave him exactly what he wanted, well, except for the part where he was bound to his home. But it wasn’t so bad. Harry still got what he wanted. Plenty of humans came his way with whom he could do as he pleased.

However, Harry did become lonely. He longed for a little companionship. Someone who wouldn’t be able to hide from him. Someone that would be his. So he began the ritual of calling on an eternal mate. He didn’t know who Angra would choose for him but he knew to trust Angra no matter what.

And when she arrived to his home the evening before Halloween it was perfect. Harry knew she was the one Angra had sent. A beautiful young woman, someone who would be dearly missed by loved ones. She was perfect.

He watched her look around the house, set up a small area to sit and perhaps sleep the night. He stood behind her as she took a picture of herself. He found it curious that she snacked on crackers and read a book. Normally people entering the house would search through everything until they got spooked enough to leave. Usually they were free to go but often enough Harry would take their life, or lure them into his bed and then take their life.

Harry set up her pallet and placed her necklace down on the spot he found her. Now it would only take a day for her spirit to come back to him. He couldn’t wait for her to be his once and for all.

Waking up, she felt off. Felt a bit spacy. The house looked different to her but her rational sense told her that she was just waking from a deep sleep. Her attempt to leave the house was unsuccessful. She immediately looked for another way to leave but deep down she knew something else was at play. And when she saw him her spirit knew she belonged to him.

She was a ghost like him. A spirit that would dwell in this house for eternity, bonded to Harry and forever his companion. Her sudden trust and understanding went beyond her own logic. But she accepted her fate to be with the man who called for her soul and desired her presence with him. The pair sunk into the shadows of the house together and haunted the living that came into their domain. Y/n and Harry would now work as a team and anyone that entered would be lucky to exit with their life.

If Chaldean Romani = Solomon from Chaldeas. Then Priestess = Olga from Chaldeas?

Let's have a disclaimer this is all speculative, but assuming Chaldean Person isn't Lev or Goetia, then absolutely there's a certain parallel of those two figures (Olga and Romani) in roles, or perhaps that's my impression. The whole cutscene of Romani with Lev to Olga crying with Chaldean Person showed before another Crying Olga. I think the Olga from CHALDEAS was the Director Olga all along.

Spoilers and speculation.

If this hunch is accurate, I assume that the switch happened during the first years CHALDEAS was operational. In that case. Olga only met the staff of Chaldea after her father died, so nobody ever met her, or knew her. She's also weirdly unpopular with everyone, unlike her Case Files self. Perhaps this was because unconsciously, she was never from 'there.' The sense of alienation Daybit has but lesser. Regardless of Goetia's plan to manipulate Olga and isolate her, the mats calling out her negative popularity seems important. That's why you have that younger-looking Olga appearing as important and she was the one all-powerful in the Melty Blood Back Alley manga crossover. She's the one crying in the Opening, making her design like this would be a giveaway of the twist. It's possible that she was the test subject and the core to turn CHALDEAS into Panhistory as the God. Think about it. All the flashbacks of the "Director" are to an age after CHALDEAS was activated. Kirschtaria's thoughts about her being withheld (happened the same with Daybit, due to spoilers), him treating the Priestess as the actual Olga, perhaps because she's the one he knew from childhood and realized of the switch. He also said the priestess' body was going to manifest from the tree, so Olga was from the beginning intended to be the Servant God, but not the one from Fuyuki. When U Olga Manifested, she acted like a psycho, so Kirschtaria assumed he failed to prevent her metamorphosis.

The Director's Olga's lack of rayshifting capability or the ability to be a Master in Panhistory may be because she was never part of Panhistory. This was before her Servant self. She could be in simulations or places within CHALDEAS frame. Her body (Subject E) can be a Master in CHALDEAS painting the Earth without a problem. Lev sending her back to CHALDEAS made it so both Olgas were there, so the entire organized scheme Marisbury pulled became a mess, for the CHALDEAS Olga became Subject E (she has the body of someone from CHALDEAS) and the Panhistory Olga got burned instead, becoming the Priestess ("nothing" where used to be a person), but this was probably the original plan until Lev weighted in:

I've speculated in the past it was an Angra Mainyu meets Nurse Sakura/BB deal, but I wasn't sure how, now it's becoming clearer, but Nasu can be a mess. I'm not very enthusiastic or interested to see this plot resolution, but I wanted to answer you anon. It's also probably why the Olga who resembles the one from FGO Prologue in the manga is the one from a simulation, while the ghost one is different. Reines dropping Director Olgamarie was different from the Olga she met but has the same appearance in her interlude wasn't just a zany dimensional statement but that she was effectively not Panhistory Olga.

Gyakkou song is about Olga, but about the original Olgamarie. This is why is a spoiler so far. She's the one who has received a lot of "you need to do something" scolding from Kirschtaria and Morgan, and has observed without taking a stance. U Olga has had her arc, she already took a choice of where she stands and the song didn't play.

If this is correct, Chaldean Man then indeed could be CHALDEAS Solomon. They are foils. The Romani you met was the Panhistory one but sacrificed himself, and this one is CHALDEAS. The Olga you met was the CHALDEAS one, and the one left after her sacrifice is the Panhistory one.

Note this is just one possibility. Chaldean could be Goetia or Lev. Olga could have splintered in Heart/Body/Soul as Extella Hakuno, or be like Captain Nemo, so she had her bond with Marine. I'm inclined to believe the Olga options are less likely after Daybit confirmation she's the old Director, and we had the ghost young Olga showing up before this to be a coincidence, but it's just me.

We know that most Servants have memories of their previous summonings in FGO, Cu being an example based on voice lines and such with Archer. However, when he meets Bazett again, he doesn’t recognize her completely (just kind of a vague familiarity).

Is it like… the hairstyle change? Is Cu unable to recognize Bazett outside a suit? Is he stupid?

"Most Servants have memories of their previous summoning in FGO" is false. That's a central discussed plot point of Anastasia. Avicebron and Atalante were both in Apocrypha. Avicebron doesn't remember much of Atalante's character, but he remembers she was there. She asks if she also remembers him and she doesn't. And then he explains the mechanics.

Apocrypha is a story that fundamentally changed Avicebron. He lived fruitlessly pursuing his goal of building his Adam, and in Apocrypha, he accomplished that, allowing him to reflect on the prices he paid and what the results of his project could do to himself and the world around him. That's why he remembers. Atalante didn't cross any similarly relevant checkpoint of character development, so she doesn't remember.

That's a major point of weight to Waver and Iskandar's relationship. When Iskandar says he doesn't remember Waver, that means that despite him being the biggest source of growth in Waver's life, Waver could offer him no significant level of growth in return.

But back to the better explored Avicebron point. He clarifies that he doesn't remember what kind of kid Rocco was. He just remembers the relevant part. That he achieved his goal by betraying and sacrificing a kid who idolized him. That's the part that informs the answer to this ask.

Cú has no reason to remember Bazett. She's a woman who got "killed" at the first opportunity. She didn't have the time to have any influence on him. They have more meaningful interactions in Hollow Ataraxia, which is set entirely inside Angra's dream world, so as far as anyone not named Bazett or Caren is concerned, none of that was real. Cú's dream replica is not different from him in any way, but it shouldn't feed any information back to the real Cú in the Throne.

I watched all of Heaven's Feel this weekend and I'm kinda concerned, does Sakura's deal not get resolved in the other paths? Like, is the implication that in UBW, Zouken eventually takes over Sakura's body and uses the grail piece in her to gain Angra Manyu's power for himself?

so as an important note, Heaven's Feel was written as a finale route in a set of three routes. sakura's problems are not resolved in the other routes because Heaven's Feel closes the book entirely, acting as the final say (up until Hollow Ataraxia released, but that's a special case)

in original form, it's just not said what happens to sakura because it was generally assumed that Heaven's Feel would be someone's last brush with this cast of characters and their story (lol). there's been some nudging towards it in the El-Melloi timeline, but the actual answer to what happens after Fate route and UBW isn't really given in any non-vague terms

similarly, in Fate route, illya presumably dies offscreen a few years later as her body finally gives out, but nasu didn't continue the timeline to that point

it's an underwhelming and depressing ending that isn't included because the most "final" ending closes everyone's arcs

or, for a straighter answer, it's not resolved and that probably means nothing good comes of it, because the resolution is Heaven's Feel. in the El-Melloi timeline, something different may happen, though
