Can we all just take a second to appreciate how STUNNING this show is? If I didn't know this was a screenshot from an animated tv show, I would swear that snow and those shadows, how they distort and bend the light, were real.
Absolutely amazing.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid Series
I've always loved this bit of animation, even as a kid. It packs so much personality in a short time and is just a delight to watch. Serious kudos to the storyboard/artists on this.

Walt Disney Studios has had a profound influence in my life. Their animated classics are what made me truly fall in love with visual art. Their imaginative retellings of fairy tales inspired me as a writer. Some of my best memories involve watching Disney movies with family members or friends. I will forever be in awe of the artists, actors, writers, musicians, and directors who brought so many amazing stories to life. Disney movies have given me heartbreak, comfort, reassurance, and inspiration. They're important to me both as works of art and as parts of my childhood.
With all that being said, I would rather have the company go bankrupt, burn to the ground, and be utterly wiped from the face of the earth, than see them release a live-action remake of Tangled.

Dinosaur (2000)
I was watching Disney's Dinosaur (2000) with a friend today, and I just want to appreciate the amount of texture that went into making the characters.

I really enjoy seeing characters we've seen before in Rick and Morty, even if we don't get a direct update on them.
Like in S07E07 (Wet Kuat Amortican Summer), we get to see several characters we haven't seen in a while: Nancy P. & Bruce Chutback!
Nancy was at the frolf party:

In Seasons 6 & 7 we get what I've been calling the "Alien Girl" popping up in the background. The "Alien Girl" from the bar (S6E08 - Analyze Piss), holding sipping wine in the apartment (S7E02 - The Jerrick Trap), and Unity's invasion (S7E03 - Air Force Wong) (images in episodic chronological order):

(I have a whole post planned about the "Alien Girl")
I'm a huge fan of how detailed the backgrounds and side characters in this show are. The animation and attention to detail just seems to get better with each season. Kudos to the production team!

Great Adult Animated Series
That don’t have to SOLELY rely on violence, sex, and/or forced humor to be great. And a few of them were stupidly canceled/shortened by dumbass executives who clearly suck at their job.

ok so I don't watch Fionna and Cake let alone Adventure Time, but I am REALLY HOPING that with the popularity of both shows right now (mainly Fionna and Cake) this will get people and the streaming services to see that animation DOES get them views and is a great medium to tell stories with, ALONG WITH learning that not all animated shows and movies need to be aimed towards children in order to be good or to be popular, AND ALSO to stop cancelling, shortening and/or straight up mistreating animated shows/movies and the people working on them (regardless of target audience) because they're "too dark"

I've said this before, and I'm gonna say it again: animated movies ought to be given the same treatment as video games. Keep everything the same--the layout, composition, voice acting, music, story etc. But update visuals. Nobody asked for Toy Story 5. But a lot of us would be pretty dang excited to see the first Toy Story re-animated so Andy's face isn't such an uncanny valley nightmare. The Incredibles did not need a pointless sequel thirteen-and-a-half years after the fact, but it sure as heck could benefit from having the visuals of said pointless sequel. I would rather see Dreamworks burn to the ground than see a soulless, corporate, politically correct live-action regurgitation of the first How to Train Your Dragon movie, but I would gladly sacrifice the $30 for a theater ticket to see the first movie redone to match the visuals of the second and third.

one thing I absolutely adore in AOT is Levi's movements when fighting titans. The animation is so brilliant, and it's almost like a dance. Anyone can see how fluent and beautiful each movement is, but now that I'm an animation student, all I want to do is emulate the beauty of his actions in my own work.
