i'm gonna ramble under the read more so just ignore that if you don't wanna see me get sappy

a whole fucking YEAR holy shit. it really doesn't feel like it's been that long to me.

it's been a really weird year. i graduated highschool, i became an adult, i've made and lost friends, it's all been so strange.

hps is what got me into the fazbear frights community. i've met a lot of great people through it. it's what got me to finally read a lot of the stories. it got me to finally start writing for fun again. and now we're here, a whole year later.

to all my followers who followed because of hps, or maybe even earlier, or even fnaf in general, thank you. and to anyone who followed for dsaf, or a hat in time, or tmc, or kirby, or even the less posted stuff like splatoon, thank you. it means a lot to me that people enjoy the content i produce, and maybe get inspired by it.

here's to another year of a bunch of teens being knockoff ghostbusters.

Leroy: “Lets move on before he gets into another movie rant...Wil what's your favorite movie?”

Wil-Liam: “It was always The Princess Bride, but the most recent movies I've seen were the Shrek ones (including the spinoffs) and I like all of them.”

Luis: “Really the princess bride? Not something weird like niche slasher movies or weird imported knockoff animated movies like Izzie's way home or some crap?”

Wil-Liam: “Nope, uh I like stories with happy endings, and uh the Shrek series has them too, with all of them accepting that he's an oger and him to like that too.”

Luis: “Cheesy... Wait all of Shrek? Let me guess you also liked 3, 4, and 5.”

Wil-Liam: “Yup!”

Luis: “Ugh of course--.”

The horror meta is mutating

I remember several months ago I made article talking about how being stuck in Afton's shadow was bad for FNAF and that Poppy Playtime was peak performance for being a marketable children's horror project.

We have stuff to talk about. So lets get started.

Late last year Bendy and Dark Revival came out and IT wasn't all that good but it was much better than previous Bendy games so it was a huge success but the most innovative trait was the active humanization of the monster in the story.

Making Bendy a creature with a personality that could be cute/redeemable sort of massaged that open secret that most fans love the monsters in these games.

And maybe its wrong to think that but I think that trickled down into the Ruin DLC which was 100% damage control for how bad Security Breach is (btw, there is still unfinished and broken content in Security Breach that will never be fixed, Modders have filled in some gaps though) and part of that was capitalizing on the fact that people liked Sun and Moon and Roxy so they gave them nice moments.

They did some dirty stuff to Monty but somebody had to be the fall guy.

And the Mimic is real and Afton isn't. Hopefully it stays that way but the sequel does involve what could be a reintroduction of Baby which would essentially be a reintroduction of Afton but we'll have to see what Steel Wool come up with.

Now we have Angel Hare which despite having an incredibly cliche soundtrack carried with it an innovative idea that the paranormal activity isn't the villain in the story and that the story is more humanistic and heartwarming than scary which maybe doesn't vibe with the traditional horror crowd but the mascot horror crowd is more compelled to love creepy and paranormal cartoon characters than be afraid of them outright.

But they aren't all were great ideas. Amanda The Adventurer is what I would call "mediocre". It follows basically all the beats you would expect it to do and the animation is very poor (Amanda in particular just doesn't have enough articulation).

Everything else is fine. I like that it was one and done, the voice acting was very serviceable. It really could benefited from having another layer to the story. In a lot of ways Amanda the Adventurer is similar to Angel Hare in that they are both Dora the Explorer inspired stories where VHS characters interact with a real viewer but one is just objectively more creative than the other.

But it's not all bad. Amanda the Adventurer is not bad. No. Garten of Ban Ban, now that's bad. If Poppy's Playtime was the mascot horror genre at it's most artificial and optimized, Garten of Ban Ban is basically a terrible Chinese knockoff of that artificial and optimized product.

But we really wouldn't know of Garten of Ban Ban's existence if it wasn't for Uhyeah making it popular and that's not a good thing by the way.

Uhyeah is one of those youtubers who look for things to cringe at and just make cringe bait videos. When a game is actually good you rarely hear from him but when it's time to spotlight truly horrible content in the mascot horror space he's on it like white on rice.

I think he's mostly a net negative for the mascot horror space. He's not a bad person of course, he's not Theft King.

But he is a person who is obsessed with cringe and cringe culture is a vice. On a good day we can have a laugh at a poorly made product but at it's worse it promotes the idea that you can't be earnest or sincere on the internet, otherwise you risk having someone turning you into a laughing stock because they find making fun of people more funny than actual jokes.

Everybody made this huge stink about Garten of Ban Ban when the first game came out but now we are on the fourth chapter and no one really cares, which is what it would have been at the outset had Uhyeah decided to find something better to do with his time than to create a viral meme on twitter X. Now it's basically just another game on Superhorrorbro's channel who seems to sincerely like it which makes him a real one.

I think Garten of Ban Ban isn't worth the time of day but it's better to sincerely like something than it is to ironically like something.

There's a couple other games like ChooChoo Charles which manages to have actual game play in a mascot horror game which is rare and is also a good accomplishment. Poppy's playtime is taking it's sweet time coming up with the third chapter. They made a multiplayer game for some reason but hopefully that was made because they had the manpower to create a second project without slowing the production of the original down.

The Walten files is trying to complete the next chapter. I can't tell where "this work takes time begins" and "I'm too busy consuming cringe on twitter X." ends but hopefully when Elon Musk finishes killing Twitter X, a lot of creative people will be free from that vice.

Uh, Bunny Graveyard is really well animated. Although that's also going to be in chapters which, I've spoken about chapters and I think they are mostly bad but given that people are taking their time with chapters and not rushing them like they were doing in the past, the only real issue is the future chapters never coming out.

Uh, where is Andy's Apple Farm? I kind of got into it but it hasn't come out with its sequel yet. How many of these Mascot Horror games are going to leave me hanging from year to year?

I guess that's all for now. I missed a couple notable games in the genre but it's fine. The genre has a lot of growing to do. The issue of the mystery box kind of haunts them because once we know everything about the story, the story stops being interesting and we're often left with very little else to enjoy but it's getting there.

It's still better than any horror movie that's been made in the last few years.

Going Through The Archives... Pt 2

This one was inspired by a Minecraft map from around 2014 called the Suicide Booth, itself based on the suicide booth from Futurama. I think so, anyway; it��s the memory that rises to the surface when I look at this work. You’ll see a lot more of this “grid of Things inside circles” soon.

Oh hey! My game ideas. Half of these are just random horror games. Some notable things to point out:

Poptropica Mystery Island was made for a Design Your Dream Island contest in... 2016? Or 2013. Probably 2016. I never did submit it officially. I’ll post the work with my submission idea down below here, so keep reading!

FNASparkys is by far the most developed of any of the games here. As the name suggests, it was a FNAF fangame I had in mind back in middle school, sometime before Sister Location I believe. I didn’t go with Sparky, of course, since that was already an established hoax dog character. I went with... Scrappy. Really original idea there, young Leg. More FNAS stuff will be coming out once I reach the 2018-2019 phase of my life, so stay tuned!

I remember Thief being a game I had some ideas for. The closest comparison I can make is GTA Chinatown Wars in terms of presentation, with its top down city exploration feel. That was all I came up with.

No Touch has been in my life since like the 3rd grade, where it was originally called something along the lines of “Hansel and Pail” for reasons unknown to me now. It’s a pretty simple pen and paper game where one person makes an obstacle course in pen, and another person has to traverse it without touching any of the pen marks. A few gimmicks were added, like portals and key doors, but its charm was the pick-up-and-play style. And also the fact that I was the only one that cared about it.

Elefantasy is just an Elephant Quest knockoff, I think.

Gentrifying the straight sized clothes section at goodwill by taking them to make them into plushies

ok im sharing my reddie fnaf au anyways because i can’t stop thinking about it and this is my blog so i get to post whatever i want SO

eddie, in the summer between high school and college, decides to apply for a summer job to make some extra money for when he goes away to school. unfortunately, the only place that’s hiring at the moment is a knockoff chucky cheese-style pizzeria, who is looking for a part-time security guard to work the night shift. the position doesn’t have any required qualifications, and it’s not an ideal job, but there’s nowhere else hiring so eddie applies, and a few days later he gets a call saying that his first shift is on monday.

he goes to his first shift, and when he’s standing outside the pizzeria at 11:45pm, staring at the restaurant, he can feel that something’s weird, but he needs the money, so he ignores the feeling and walks in anyways. he passes by the creepy animatronics sitting on the stage and pretends that he doesn’t feel their cold, empty eyes watching him as he walks down to the security office.

after eddie sets himself up in the office, someone else walks in. it’s another boy, around his age, and from what he can see from the name tag on the boy’s shirt in the dim light, his name is richie. richie introduces himself as eddie’s coworker for the night shift, and right away eddie can tell that these are going to be long shifts. if just staring at security cameras for 6 hours wasn’t bad enough, then adding richie into the mix would make it even worse.

richie was obnoxious. that was the best way eddie could describe him. he was annoying, he was messy, he always played his music way too loud so that eddie could hear it even though richie’s headphones, and he was constantly goofing off. and richie isn’t that big of a fan of eddie either- he’s so uptight, constantly getting mad at richie, telling him what to do, and it’s pissing richie off. after all, the only reason he took this job was because he thought it would he chill and laid back. but, they both need the money, so they decide to just put up with each other and stay.

but if course, if typical fnaf fashion, as the nights go on, things start to get… weird. sometimes when eddie checks the cameras, the animatronics are posed in different positions than when he last checked. eddie brushes it off as someone forgetting to turn them off and tries to ignore it when they all stare directly into the camera. richie blasts his music to try and block out the sound of footsteps that he’s convinced is just his imagination. they both try their best to keep their composure when an old-timely circus music starts playing through the restaurant, along with a deep voice humming along.

and things only get worse. by the end of the week, richie and eddie are trapped in a nightmarish scenario, and they have to work together to keep themselves, and each other, alive.

There are a TON of different sites selling bootlegs. I’d seen two different variations before, one that looked like they seam ripped an original and photocopied then printed the pattern onto fabric, and another version that looked like it was from a FNAF jumpscare game. There’s no quality control when it comes to bootleggers, so they could all be coming from the same person or group. It’s pretty easy to create multiple identities online, or listing with well known auction or shopping sites as a seller. There’s just one thing to ask yourself when trying to figure out if it is a fake: Are you buying it directly from Felissimo or a shipping service who will buy it directly from Felissimo? No? It’s a bootleg.

The sites you shared specifically had additional variant designs I hadn’t seen before. I have no idea where the original photo came from, though it is obvious that they are copying the design of the Yuki/Arale plush. You may think ‘well this is cute, it’s different but I like this design’ but please remember the scammers do not give you what is in the photo! They “bait and switch”. So while the photo has a very cute design, this photo is also being used across a lot of different sites, who knows which one, if any, will actually send you the design pictured. Sometimes the scammers will buy an original to take new photos with- as one way people tell if an item is legitimate is if the seller is using their own photos or stock photos of an item. They don’t send you the original though.

That’s... That’s not how 10% off works. If you cannot do basic math I doubt your legitimacy as a seller.

This still isn’t how numbers work. WHAT DID YOU DO TO YUKI?! Yuki-gets-a-bad-dye-job-at-the-hair-dresser version bootleg? Yuki BATMAN edition???

Aww, the FNAF Horror seal finally found love.

FINALLY you figured out how math works. 

This photo features the actual Yuki and Arale plushies- but since they aren’t being sold on Felissimo and the price is WAY too cheap you won’t be getting what’s in the photo. While some items on the internet can be bought cheaper at stores because the person online bought the items in bulk at a much lower price, Felissimo does not sell their pillows in bulk to other stores. Any seller would need to buy them at the original price and take a massive loss- which they won’t do! Instead they’ll show you a photo of the original (or a photo they got off another site- maybe someone’s Etsy or DeviantArt where they made their own version) then send you their own knockoff which will probably look like FNAF Horror or the version that looks like it was hit by a truck. 

This site included the originals for sale, but you know you won’t get what’s in the photo- you can’t trust ANY of their listings.

Freddy Fazbear Headcanons

Fnaf 1

Is always tired due to having to deal with a bunch of kids during daytime and four more during the night shift

The others see him as bossy

Even though he doesn’t like to show his appreciation for his friends on the outside, deep down, he considers them the one thing that keeps him going everyday,

Looks up to Fredbear as a mentor of sorts and thinks that he’ll never be as good as a animatronic entertainer as him

He doesn’t think Golden Freddy and Fredbear are the same

Kids are always begging for his autograph during daytime

If kids are being rude or are fighting with others, he’ll take their toys and hide them inside his stomach cavity until they learn to behave

Like Circus Baby, he can take song requests for his music box

Unfortunately for him, kids usually request the same old nursery rhymes every day and it gets really ear grating for him

He’s the one who added the “Don’t Touch Freddy” rule. He really isn’t the best when it comes to social interactions and didn’t want something like Fredbear’s bite to happen again

Even though he’s the face of FFP, Fazbear Entertainment doesn’t do regular maintenance on him due to constant budget cuts

He’s always smelling like expired pizza and is usually covered with lollipops and spits from the younger customers who come to the Pizzera

Freddy likes to have a clean appearance so he tries cleaning himself up. He tries covering all those lollipop stains with official Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza licensed safety kit bandages

He plays the Toreador March whenever the power goes out to calm the night guard down, thinking that like him, Mike is just scared of the dark

His nose does indeed honk when you touch it. It’s a part of his comedy routine and seems to work on the kids everytime

Ultimate Custom Night

Freddy was extremely honoured to be a part of Fredbear’s Ultimate Custom Night.

Even though he was Fredbear’s number one fan, he tried to hide that part of him to not freak Fredbear out and ruin their friendship

Some of the other animatronics weren’t happy with what position and method of attack they were assigned to, but not Freddy

He was blinded with complete awe by Fredbear that he didn’t really care that he was essentially reduced to just another animatronic that could easily be avoided

He travels faster when the heat goes up due to his servos and crossbeams not being able to withstand the temperature

The extra heat also causes his eye vision to become less clear.

For instance sometimes he get confused on who is who between Nightmare and Nightmare Fredbear, or goes to Funtime Foxy’s pirate cove by accident when he was trying to go to Foxy and Bonnie’s

He does try to visit his original friends more frequently as the nights goes on.

As for the other Freddys he really doesn’t understand how Toy Freddy doesn’t get tired of the same old game formula

Feels pity for Phantom Freddy since long gone are the days of friendship for him. Freddy couldn’t imagine how he could live without his friends

Nightmare Freddy taught him about something he only thought were in fairytales. Parenthood...

Everyone sees Nedd Bear as a knockoff of Freddy except Freddy himself

He and Molten Freddy really don’t bond over anything. However Freddy helps him walk since Molten is still getting used to the new body Fredbear crafted for him

Sometimes Freddy plays his music box to help keep all the distracting noise at bay and to help Charlie to go back to sleep inside of Lefty

He thinks Rockstar Freddy needs a new hobby

This was actually the first time he met his “rival” in Animatronic Entertainment, Circus Baby

He thinks that it’s really cool that she can do a lot of things like being able to inflate balloons and make ice cream

It kinds of makes him wonder why Fazbear Entertainment didn’t make him as advanced as any of the animatronics made by Afton Robotics

Help Wanted

The core four animatronics are the one with their personalities most intact with their coding once they were scanned into the vr game

The shoe and watch hidden inside of Freddy were included becuase back at his Pizzera it was common to see Freddy with certain human sized accessories especially after hours

Freddy is very protective over his personal possessions such as his music box, which is why he makes a scene when you are caught mishandling it

In the Fazbear Virtual Experience, Freddy isn’t really the same after you successfully complete his part and service level

As he sees the new music box you inserted inside of him as a cheap replacement

He’s the only one who knows the recipe of a Freddy Fudgebar

He can’t stand the smell of Exotic Butters much to Ennard’s surprise

Thinks that the minifigure of himself that you can earn at the Prize Counter looks silly

Doesn’t trust Glitchtrap, usually does things his way and doesn’t follow the rabbit’s orders at all

When he first saw Dreadbear, he thought he was done for. After all how could a little brown bear compare to this monstrous bolt electrifying bear who’s triple his size

However soon he came to realize that Dreadbear couldn’t hurt a fly, even if he tried

He tries to get him to stop playing by Glitchtrap’s rules

Dreadbear has no idea what Freddy’s talking about though. He was just happy he found one of his many “dads”

May we see headcanons for jack o chica (4 and UCN) and jack o bonnie? Or did you already do them and I just cant find them?

Jack o’Chica (FNAF 4)

She’s a literal walking furnace.

No kidding, her footprints leave ashes and embers in their wake.

And flames constantly spew from her mouth and eyes.

She was Nightmare Chica, but her jack o’lantern form manifested from Cassidy’s fear of Halloween (same with Jack o’Bonnie), so she’d turn into JOC throughout most of October.

She can heat up her claws and teeth to the point of them glowing white-hot.

So when she grabs Cassidy, he wakes up with quite some burns on his arms, which he has to bandage up.

She loves making fire puns.

In the kitchen, she’ll try to make pizza. But..she’s horrible at it and ends up filling the room with smoke.

Her Nightmare Pumpkin is a giggly animatronic that loves to bite the faces of the other Nightmares, though he receives harsh scoldings for such actions.

Jack o’ Chica (UCN)

Scott gifted her with the ability to materialize at both doors at the same time.

Though at the expense of Nightmare Pumpkin losing all sentience.

When she gets into the room, she’ll hiss at William and claw him with her glowing hands, ensuring those burns left lasting impressions on him.

She wanted to trap his soul in her suit so he could burn for all eternity. 

But she does find a lot more satisfaction in killing him while he’s distracted by the other animatronics.

Misses Jack o’Bonnie a lot and wonders how he’s doing.

Considering she and Nightmare Chica are two separate entities, their relationship is rocky at most.

Especially since NC is petty about not being in the roster.

Toy Chica, Funtime Chica, and Rockstar Chica nickname her “BBQ”.

Withered Chica is friendly to her, as she feels much better about another “scary Chica” being around.

When Freddy notices her in the hallway, he always mistakes her for the original Chica. 

Putting the two side-by-side will still make him think he’s talking to the same chicken.

Jack o’ Chica (AR)

Having the freedom to haunt more people’s homes was such a delight to her.

Though she was less-than-pleased to see Scorch, a “knockoff” version of herself.

But the two ended up getting along and make fire-themed puns together.

Feels like an outcast, so she sticks with the Summertronics to fit in sometimes.

All in all not much of her personality has changed, albeit she becomes more cruel and spiteful with her threats.

As evident by her lines after defeat, she hates to lose and is annoyed people have a greater advantage against her with the shock buttons.

Acts v v tsundere when captured, because she’s angry–but at the same time grateful people actually like her and don’t wanna chase her out of their homes.

Don’t expect her insults to stop, though.

“It’s not like I wanted to bring you these parts..you insolent worm. Watch me turn them into molten metal.”

Jack o’ Bonnie (FNAF 4)

He manifested the exact same way Jack o’Chica did.

But his eye (and the material around it) became burnt out during the transformation, so he can only see out of his other eye.

Nightmare Foxy joked about giving him a patch.

He’s very giggly and likes dark humor.

Lava/magma sometimes drools from the corners of his mouth and between his teeth. But it always dissolves before it hits the floor.

Like Nightmare Bonnie, he keeps his bowtie in pristine condition.

When NB was put into UCN, JOB went to the Flipside with OMC and the other animatronics to rest.

But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get to torment William the same way JOC does.

Jack o’ Bonnie (AR)

Still the same giggly and sadistic creature.

Though he’s more quiet and lowkey intimidated by Jack o’Chica now since she’s become more bossy.

Actually hates Flametrap for being a “copycat”, but he can’t exactly hurt him with fire so...they just vibe. 

If you have them both, though, make sure they aren’t active at the same time so they don’t burn down the house.

He can also heat up his claws/teeth to make them white-hot and cough up smoke to distort the user’s’ vision.

He’s always threatening to take bites out of Chocolate Bonnie (especially around Halloween) and melt Frostbear.

But he just likes scaring them. Nothing more.

FNAF 6: ATTEMPT AT EXPLANATION

WARNING: SPOILERS AF

This is all based on the one ending that Markiplier has gotten, as well as MatPat’s timeline.

@pirate-patton and I went really hard with this theory, so I hope you guys like it!

1. The man’s voice during the end scene with all the burning in FNAF 6 is the father of the first girl who was ever killed by William Aston.

2. The first girl who was killed is the puppet. The puppet cares for spirits of the other children, which the man comments on during this scene.

3. We are Mike. We think we are working in another one of William’s pizzerias to free the souls of the animatronics. However, this is a decoy restaurant to lure the animatronics, and ironically Mike, to their doom. This is also why the man says, “I think you’re right where you want to be.” Mike’s work of fixing what his father did is done, so now he can die too.

4. Baby thinks we are William. This is why she says “You’re not who I was expecting” when she kills us. And, at the end, this is why she says “I’ll make you proud Daddy, we’ll do what we were made to do.” She was made to murder children and eat them, she thinks William has brought her and the other animatronics here to devour children.

5. William’s daughter’s name is Elizabeth.

6. The sign “I’m already inside” is  William/Springtrap.

7. This pizzeria was Chica’s Pizzeria before it was bought by Fazbear. This explains the knockoff animal animatronics (Nedd Bear, Lefty, weird frog thing, beverage clowns). This also explains why the sign is so similarly designed to Baby’s, they existed around the same time. 

8. It is also the pizzeria from FNAF 2. At the very beginning of FNAF 2 we see that this “vintage pizzeria has been given new life and is now the face of Freddy Fazbear” etc etc. This is because it was originally Chica’s restaurant and was bought out by Freddy Fazbear. Also the face pals thingies from FNAF 6 can be seen on the wall in FNAF 2.

9. William is in the pizzeria when it burns. We see Springtrap burning and the man says “Hell has opened up for one of you.” This is referring to William since he murdered all of the kids, including the man’s daughter. We can also hear William throughout the game saying things such as “I may look different, but I promise, its still me.” He is talking to Mike when he says this.

It had like a cheap jumpscare ending , right?

yeah. it’s another one of those shameful attempts to be the next “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Jumpscares, static menu screen, animatronics (yes, furby-esque toys are animatronics), surviving five nights, it’s basically another FNAF but with furby knockoffs. 

it just gets tiring like, come on developers, we know you’re trying to be the next FNAF, but there’s other ways of doing that besides cheap jumpscares and surviving five nights. 

I just hate all games that try to copy the FNAF formula (hell, even the FNAF sequels got stale after the second game)

what we do need is more atmosphere horror indie games that relies more on psychological scares than cheap jumpscares (which are really tiring at this point)
