At first, I did not add Hustle to my list because I thought this would be another raunchy comedy from Adam Sandler. When I checked the reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, well it's getting some praises from critics. So, I tried, and I loved it! Yes, it may have the tropes of an inspirational, underdog sports movie, but the realistic portrayal and the perspective of a basketball scout who rarely takes the lead in a narrative attracted me. Also, I like watching basketball, sometimes. If you're a basketball fan, this film is a treat for you. NBA stars like Seth Curry, Jordan Clarkson, Dirk Nowitzki, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, Boban Marjanovic, Julius Erving, and many more gave cameo appearances. Juancho Hernangomez plays the lead here, and it's his film debut (honestly, I didn't know that Hernangomez was an NBA player!). Anthony Edwards, another NBA star, plays the antagonist role. It was weird for me seeing Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah as a couple, but it worked as you watch along. The film just gives hope and an endearing feeling as it plays the last scene. Hustle is probably one of the best basketball movies around not just because it has NBA stars in it, but the message and subject are engaging and relevant.
