It must be nice being the biggest player in the field, because it means you can come to the party late and still get a good seat. You can dine at the same table as everyone else, yet stick your hand right into the middle and grab all that’s left. You can bring your stein or goblet and fill up with the finest beer and wine, after everyone else has migrated to the cheap stuff.
That’s the story of Apple, who just raised the bar a few notches on everyone else today with its marathon livestream announcement of new services. And by marathon I mean that I walked away after 85 minutes because I had to go teach class.

A lot went down today, but here’s the gist: 1. Apple News+ will pick up where Apple News left off, adding 300 magazines, the Wall Street Journal, and the LA Times. Family sharing for everyone on your account is available so that everyone has the same access. The cost (effective today) is $9.99 a month.
2. Apple Pay will get enhancements, as well as a rollout to mass transit in Portland OR, Chicago, and New York City. The goal is to improve on the 70% acceptance rate of retailers in the US, mimicking Australia with its 99% acceptance.

Of course, critics are concerned about Apple’s fashionably late arrival to the party. Will people buy one or more of the new services? Will they ditch one to buy one? Or will they yawn and walk away?
Time will tell, but I think the major take away from all of this is that Apple understands the modern media consumer. It knows that we want...we crave...having our content viewable across all of our devices. It knows that we want security and privacy. And it knows that we want to variety as well as quality. Those are big items to deliver singly, much less all at the same time.
But if anyone can turn this party around, it is Apple, for it now has demonstrated that, while it is primarily a hardware company, it also recognizes that it is in the services business. In a world where content is king, it makes sense for someone to make access to that king a thing.
It’s a lot like those newfangled Coke machines we see in fast food restaurants these days. There’s one dispenser, but consumers can pick and choose from base sodas and dozens of flavor additives. It call comes through one pipe, yet there are more than 100 possibilities.
I’m betting that Apple CEO Tim Cook saw one of those Coke machines not long ago and realized the future was there. That’s a party I want to attend. Take my money, please, Apple. I have room for at least one more service in my budget. Keep on selling to me, because I like what I am seeing.

FLOURISHING, NOT JUST SURVIVING
The free market is booming (for now) and there are countless books on economy, monetary policy and running a business, to be read and understood by the curious people who wish to know how value is created.
This is thanks to the wonderful economists and fiduciaries and other skilled individuals and groups, all trying to explain and help society make the best out of its resources (well, the good guys at least). But, looking at how the world of business, even smaller business today, isn’t that bad — why is the world of emerging art so horribly underpriced?
No sane business owner has ever said: “Let’s sell this doohickey here at a 10% loss and make absolutely no calculations as to how much we need to make to stay afloat with our rent payment and other expenses.”
But artists on the web debate whether or not to charge 2€ or 3€ an hour in places where the minimal hourly rate is about 10€. And before we start blaming the “unappreciative consumers”, imagine if the iPhone, since it’s unveiling, had been selling for 50€. Would you really blame people for shouting “ripoff”, if Apple suddenly decided to price it high enough to be able to actually make some money?
Instead of fair pricing, we buy our iPhones for a little under 1000€ now, so that we can play with AR monkey animojis, and all is well in consumer land. And I am not being cynical — Apple probably has at least one more price rise in them before the whole company slowly starts to falter, and even that would take a long time!
No, people pay a lot for many things; from useful but outrageously expensive survival kits on Kickstarter to ultra thin military-grade, self-charging, automated wallets with 5 credit card compartments. They are not lacking  the adequate space for all the plastic cards we use, they are being praised for their minimalist approach in design. Like the new Mac. And they cost a premium because of giving us less.
This isn’t just a phenomenon of today — around the turn of the new millennium, someone sold origami boulders, which were in essence crumpled-up pieces of shiny silver paper in nice bamboo boxes. And they made about a million dollars doing it via their online store! 
Dear fellow artists,
Let’s all just stop whining about how people don’t have money for our art, because people nowadays have a lot of capital to spend and there are a lot of people doing so every day. More than there ever were, actually.
And let us rather address the real elephant in the room. 
We should stop undercharging for our work. All of us. And pick up a book about how to run a business or ask a friend, that has some experience. 
Because as soon as ten out of a hundred people start making quality portraits for 50% less than the average price, well, the average price just dropped significantly. And if the other 90 want to stay in business, they might even lower it some more, to stay competitive.
I mean, would you pay 50€ for your internet connection if you could get more or less the same service for half of that?
In the end such price drops only end up with outraged customers, when telling them that your 72 hours spent painting and 20 years spent honing your skill to even be able to do it in the first place cost 100€ plus shipping.
Art is a business like any other, even the priests have accountants, because believe or not, even the work of god has an income and expense statement and cashflow attached to it.

Include the following information to avoid any kind of ambiguity:
Can the product be returned and the cases in which it can be returned
The number of days within which it can be returned
Will there be any costs cut if the product is returned
The condition in which a product can be returned. Eg., damage, broken, etc
How a return can be initiated
The time the return would take to complete
The exact process. Eg., will the customer have to repack and ship it back
Remember, the simpler your return policy is, the more faith a shopper has in your brand for future purchases.
Let’s understand how important a well-though return policy is with the case of JOLYN, a swimwear brand. The brand used to take a week to two weeks to complete a product return. This caused a huge amount of load and stress on the customer service team flooded with emails and calls from customers. It caused frustration to both the customer service teams and customers.
The brand then reduced its returns processing time. The result: an increased number of customers chose store credit and didn’t ask for refunds!
Return of products isn’t always a loss to the brand. If done well, it’s an opportunity for more sales.
4. Make sure you have a refund policy
Depending on the refund policy you create for your Shopify store, you should clearly share the details. Customers, especially those paying for pre-order products will always be apprehensive – ‘Will I get a refund if I don’t like the product and don’t want it to be exchanged?’
The efficiency of your refund policy is also a key aspect of your customer service. If you process and manage refunds quickly and seamlessly, your customers will have a good experience and will feel more confident to order again.

Pre-orders can have two to three different types of payment categories:

The three different types of payment options are self-explanatory. However, they each have their own pros and cons.
If you ask for full payment during pre-ordering, new customers might not trust you enough to pay in advance before seeing the product.
Similarly, if you allow customers to pay the full amount later, they might change their minds and end up not making the payment.
So make sure you know who your target audience is and offer what is feasible, and trusting to the both of you.
The next step is to enable the actual payment. You must offer customers as many possible payment options, eg., credit card, net banking, Apple Pay, etc. You could authorize the details of your customers’ credit or debit card that can be automatically charged once the product is shipped.

Apple also declined to comment on the Goldman relationship beyond its comment on the note.  While research departments at large Wall Street banks have Chinese walls separating them from other functions, the rare public dispute is an awkward moment between the two companies.  Goldman Sachs has underwritten more bond issuances for Apple in the last decade than any other investment bank, worth some $44 billion, according to financial data provider Refinitiv.
