The vanilla is soft, gentle and not gourmand or overly sweet. It is supported by a citrus note and woody notes. This won’t overpower anyone around you and feels like a perfect scent for a date night in with someone you love. Highly recommend this house! SOTD is Treachery from @maherolfactive

This fragrance was based on the René Magritte painting This is not a pipe which refers to the Treachery of images, yes it may be an illustration of a pipe but it could not be smoked therefore it is not a pipe. This fragrance opens big and bold with a blast of a boozy whisky note, this is joined with an almost moist cherry tobacco and hints of vanilla. The next thing that comes into play on my skin is and almond note with a sweetness which when combined with the cherry reminds me of the smell of a warm cherry Bakewell tart baking and bubbling away in a hot oven, as the almond mellows it gives way to cacao and spices of saffron, cardamom, cloves and a peppery vibe which counterbalance the sweetness perfectly, there’s a dried fruit like feel in here too which I’m assuming comes from the davana. At this stage the whole fragrance has mellowed our and became smooth and seductive, rich, deep and complex. There are a melange of berries and fruits in here too, most notably for me is plum. The base comprises ambroxan and iso-e super along with ambergris giving lots of push for the other ingredients along with musks and the scent of the Oakwood casks the whisky may have been barrelled in. This is an Extrait de Parfum so performance is superb, in testing I’ve sprayed this in the early evening and clearly smelled this on my skin in the mornings. In my opinion Shawn has really come up with a wonderful fragrance here that many will love, it’s absolutely perfect for the coming cooler weather and I for one will be wearing this a lot, I highly recommend to try this and all off the range, samples sets are available directly from both @maherolfactive and @theamericanperfumer respectively Once again thank you so much for allowing me to sample your brand Shawn 😊🙏 .

Happy New year everyone I hope it brings you all much happiness. I’d like to say a massive thank you to the lovely people @fioleuk who were kind enough to send out the atomiser you see in the pic, it contains Nanban from @arquiste which was on my Christmas wishlist and was nigh on impossible to get a bottle of here in the uk, my daughter spoke to @samueljlgearing who went out of his way to ensure I was able to at least have enough of this absolute gem to tide me through until a bottle becomes available, not only that it came in a fantastic atomiser which was beautifully wrapped. My daughter also purchased the candle you see in the pic which is based on Nanban, let me tell you it fills a room and is stunning. Today’s SOTD has been the excellent Beach Hut Man from @amouageofficial This is a firm favourite of mine, I love the combination of the mint, green notes and orange blossom, it lasts for ever on my skin and easily gets me through a work day and beyond. This is quite literally sunshine in a bottle. Like many of Shawn fragrances it has a big bombastic opening which combines Neroli and beautiful citrusy fruity feel from the bitter Orange Bigarade. There’s a touch of florals from the Narcissus. I almost get a slightly green feel from this one too. It almost makes me want to bite in to those juicy citrus fruity notes. There’s a slight hint of something animalic but it’s never overpowering and plays nicely with the clean musk. It’s fresh very uplifting, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. You can almost get an image of a literally sun soaked orange grove with beautiful flowers all in bloom and literally filled up with sunny goodness, underpinned by beautiful woods. This totally lifts your mood and makes you feel optimistic. It lasts incredibly well on my skin and is a must for summer.
