I saw you were feeling merformers lately and I looovvvvee that! My absolute favorite head canon is researcher/trainer ratchet X medformer drift.
Ratchet has artificially inseminated Drift so much, that drift gets excited by the sight of the little insemination gun. He sees through the glass that ratchet his holding the kit and he gets so wet and his slit is already opening before Ratchet can even get in the tank.
Drift humps his slit against the structures in the tank and the cyberkelp. He watches and gets antsy as Ratchet takes his time filling up the gun. He grips ratchets shoulders and stares him in the eye as Ratchet pushes the gun inside - drift just wishes ratchet would inseminate him more naturally.
Drift cums around the gun and makes a grab to ratchet’s array to return the favor. Ratchet knows he shouldn’t but eventually one day, he’ll give into temptation.
Oh, that's good. Drift seeing Ratchet coming in with the insemination gun and he immediately gets so hot and bothered, circling frantically around the tank and trying to rub his aching slit against everything he can find because he literally can't control himself for any longer… Drift watching Ratchet fill the gun with hungry optics, clawing at the floor of the shallow platform as he obediently waits for Ratchet to get in there.
Ratchet doesn't even need to insert the gun, Drift basically impales himself on it, sucking it so deep into his valve that Ratchet's shaking knuckles are rubbing against his node. Poor Ratchet just looking up at the security camera in the corner as he resists the urge to give Drift what he needs… he simply waits a little until he can see the mer reaching his peak, and then he finally releases the transfluid inside of him.
Drift collapsing on top of Ratchet with the force of his overload, so heavy and warm and nipping at his neck tubing, trying to discreetly rub his slit against Ratchet's panel, inviting him in, telling him to give it a taste… Ratchet doesn't think he can get away with it though… he pushes Drift off of him, and leaves, charge cackling in his frame as he thinks about filling Drift up the way he's been begging him to. But he knows he can't, Drift is under his care, and not even the same species, it would be inappropriate.

Requiescat in pacem to your inbox. Lux perpetua luceat eis. I need to read chapter 1 again because all I could really focus on last night was that fs/n anon was going to absolutely lose their shit and I was sorry I couldn't see it happen in real-time. :D On the IVF thing... even though I know that, in addition to fanfic medicine and fanfic family law, HC probably has fanfic health insurance rules but I can verify that IVF in the UK is covered by the National Health Service for eligible people. Depending on the rules of the NHS integrated care board where you live, the NHS will cover between 1-3 cycles of IVF (I know people who actually moved because their local NHC ICB only covered a single cycle).
In Jade's case, she wouldn't qualify for IVF coverage under the NHS unless she'd gone through six cycles of artificial insemination and six cycles of intrauterine insemination* without conceiving, which can run into the thousands of pounds per cycle. Or she received a diagnosis that she would not be able to conceive without assistance... which would be kind of bad, since most of the reasons a 25-year-old would be automatically referred for IVF are not things I'd wish on Jade. (*The requirement for IUI was repealed in 2022.)
That said, for people who conceive, even with the [expletive]-[deleted] Tories gutting healthcare funding over the past 15 years, pregnancy care in the UK is still free through the NHS. Even private healthcare for pregnant and birthing people costs about a third as much in the UK compared to the U.S.
All of which to say, assuming Jade qualified for NHS care (by having UK citizenship, for example), it's not implausible that she would look at costs of having a kid in the UK vs the US and decide to go for it.
That said... I do find it a bit weird that Jade went from one co-dependent relationship to being a mom in the space of two years. Not that I'm suggesting that there might be other reasons someone decides to have kids almost immediately after breaking up with their partner and moving to another country... I just find it interesting that in one chapter, we see Jade being both extremely frustrated and upset with constantly feeling responsible for Kit and... *checks notes* mother to a toddler.
Huh.

another personal hc list, for Ta'jean, the Stellar Queen this time.
Eventually i'll finish the queen's character sheets, eventually.
The youngest and shortest of the three queens, Ta'jean clocks in at below 5'6" and was ~47 when the coup happens.
Has a primarily pastel and low-contrast color scheme with pastel pinks, blue, and rose-gold.
Longest hair out of the queens that she often wore down or half up in loose curls. When she glows (which is particularly rare) her hair is reminiscent of starlight.
Was never happy about being married off and moved away from her home planet and was not shy about it. This did not make her popular.
However, eventually accepted her role and duty with a small amount of grace but no happiness
+ Never made an effort to make friends on her new 'home' and butted heads with Lucrezia from the start
Despite everything, she became great friends with Nikolle, who was kind and also terribly homesick.
Though they did not agree on Fenris or loving him, Ta'jean considered her to be her only true friend on the planet
Preferred to stay indoors most of the time and being awake at night. Though Nikolle often convinced her to go for walks in the gardens
+ Appreciated the fountains that had been built in the gardens as Goldis was far too dry and yellow for her taste. But also felt a measure of resentment that no one would ever go to those lengths to make her happy.
There was no love between her and Fenris. Ta'jean refused to be intimate with him and he took no issue as he did not wish to have sex with a woman who clearly hated him. With multiple options at their disposal and a need to create as many heirs as possible- their children were made via artificial insemination.
As with most things, was controlling and stern with her children: wanting them to keep as far from their 'family' as possible. Even so, she loved them more then anything.
Was happy that her eldest, Tavaris, was so like her and gladly let him study on her home planet. On the other hand, had to be more stern with Ven'dala, who wanted to make friends with the other children.
Her children were very close and Ta'jean was glad for it
+ While she did understand that her duty was just that- a duty, she enjoyed the material wealth afforded to her as a Queen and preferred expensive fabrics and delicate jewelry. Her clothes were often made of high quality silk or chiffon and often had lace worked into them.
+ She saw this partly as a tithe for making her stay on Goldis
Wore heels whenever she could, though never came close to Nikolle's height
Was often flustered by Nikolle's casual skinship but found it comforting.
There was a rumor that she had a crush on the Lunar Queen. Neither of them addressed it
Enjoyed logic games and reading
+ Would have been very good at the political machinations within Goldis elite and may have been able to rival Lucreiza if she gave half a shit about doing so
Acted as a spy for her people, and was purposely withheld information as an act of rebellion and control
This did, however, allow her a private line that she used when her best friend fell ill.
+ Despite her best efforts, she was not able to secure aid from her people (who had made many medical advances since shutting out the system) or even information on Nikolle's large, extended family.
She was never particularly warm with the other children, only slightly more so with the kits as an association, but when Ta'jean failed to secure medical help she withdrew from Nikolle and her children completely.
+ with the combination of losing her only true friend and failing to help her, Ta'jean fell into a deep depression. While she did eventually recover, she still gets terse when the Lunar Queen is mentioned and others avoid the subject around her.
While Ta'jean did not like Nerissa for many years- due to who her parents were and what she represented, Nerissa had more power then Ta'jean as the 3rd and least loved queen, and simply because she disliked almost everyone on this planet- they did end up forming an alliance.
+ It took a great deal of effort, persuasion, and reassurances on Nerissa's part before Ta'jean would give her the time of day, stubborn as she was.
Her mother's death set in motion the events that lead to the secret alliance between Nerissa and the Tilaari council.
Fenris being dethroned meant Ta'jean could go home. Of course she was happy to help. Though she would not admit it, there was a spark of hope that she could bring Nikolle as well for proper treatment, though it might be too late.
