Ashlands: M.E.R.C.s
Tumblr media
It is the year 890 AR (After Ruination). You are a M.E.R.C. (Militarized Emergency Reinforcement Contractor), a mercenary who works on behalf of corporations, churches, and the government, paid in gold. You are a desperado, a murderer, a racketeer, an assassin, and downright despicable.  Despite all of that, being a mercenary is technically legal.
Newland City is a sprawling city-state that is home to 90 million people. It is a thriving metropolis that is filled with combat, danger, and opportunity. The United Zones of Newland City are the ruling government, who compete with the modern remnants of the Corporate Hegemony for dominance. The dogma of the Divine Church and the Infernal Church also spill into streets, fuelling bloody conflict. All of this strife is the lifeblood of M.E.R.C.s, who fight on the streets for all of these causes, and more importantly, their money.
Ashlands: M.E.R.C.s is a d100 tabletop roleplaying game, with intense, in-depth combat, and a focus on bloody violence, customizing your MERC’s body and weapons. With over 100 weapons, over 100 cybernetics, dozens of demonic pacts, vehicles, and modifications there’s tons of options to express your individual brand of mercenary brutality.
NOW GET RICH OR DIE TRYING!
It’s available right here! Pay what you want, take it for free, even!

Crossfire Master Post
High-Grain Scyber-Fantasy Mercenary Action
Tumblr media
Two Teams. Two Missions. One hell of a clusterfuck.
Military Emergency Reinforcement Contractors (M.E.R.C.s for short) are mercenaries with a government sanction and a lust for gold. The whole of Newland City is their battleground, and the churches, corps, and other powers that be are their employers. Crossfire is a single day in this massive, chaotic city-state, but it’s certainly an eventful one.

Unleashing the Magic: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Hey there, fellow adventurers of Tamriel! I couldn't contain my excitement any longer because I have to share my love for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with all of you. Brace yourselves for a journey into the heart of one of the most immersive and captivating RPGs ever created! Let's rewind the clock and transport ourselves back to the year 2002 when Bethesda Game Studios unleashed this epic masterpiece upon the gaming world. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a game that defied expectations, pushing the boundaries of what an open-world RPG could be. From the moment you step foot onto the island of Vvardenfell, you're greeted by a vast, sprawling world filled with rich lore, complex characters, and endless possibilities. The attention to detail is mind-blowing, from the unique architecture of each city to the diverse landscapes that range from lush forests to volcanic ashlands. But it's not just the world that captivates you; it's the freedom to forge your own path. Morrowind offers a level of player agency rarely seen in games. You can choose your race, class, and playstyle, and the choices you make have real consequences that shape your journey. Want to join one of the Great Houses, become a powerful mage, or embark on a life of thievery? The choice is yours! The depth of the quests and storylines in Morrowind is unparalleled. The main questline, involving the prophecies of the Nerevarine, is a grand and intricate tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat. And let's not forget the countless side quests that offer hours of additional content and exploration. Each quest feels unique and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on your gaming soul. And we can't talk about Morrowind without mentioning its awe-inspiring soundtrack. Jeremy Soule's masterful compositions transport you to a world of fantasy and wonder, perfectly capturing the essence of the game's atmosphere and immersing you deeper into the experience. So, my fellow adventurers, if you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, I implore you to embark on this unforgettable journey. Lose yourself in the vastness of Vvardenfell, uncover its secrets, and become the hero you were destined to be. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Thank you for the explanations. :)
You are all probably right: Elden Ring is not likely to be my thing. I don’t mind challenging fights, but I can’t engage with them without some kind of reason. It just doesn’t interest me.
I will say though:
I did think “narrative” was one of the integral components of an RPG, so I’m a little surprised to find out it barely has one. I get that there are different kinds of RPG, and some lean into combat more than others, but if it’s literally just fighting monsters in a context free environment ... isn’t that more of an action game?
Part of the marketing was that G R R Martin wrote this thing. Now, I’m not a big Martin fan but I have read a few of his books. I would not have defined his work as “narratively sparse”. I was genuinely expecting to arrive in a world full of people with secrets and complex motives and conflicting intrigues. Which means I have definitely been trekking across the countryside in search of something that does not exist.
I knew the combat was supposed to be challenging, and I knew it lacked quest markers. These are inconveniences for me, but more than worth putting up with for interesting worldbuilding and story. I mean: I did my time, completely and utterly lost in the Ashlands of Morrowind because “turn right at the rock” does not constitute a useful set of directions. Still worth it.
I don’t mean this as any kind of hate post - clearly this has struck a chord with many people, and it’s great that they’re having fun. I’m just a tad bemused. I know people who’ve played other games by this studio will probably find it funny, but this is almost the exact opposite of what I expected from a critically acclaimed RPG with contributions from a noted fantasy author.
So alas: some money wasted but some time now saved. Now I just go back to waiting for them to finish Baldur’s Gate 3.

Useless rpgs recs. Rpgs where you can romance an elven or half-elven character
Baldur’s Gate II Enhanced Edition = Viconia (drow), Aerie (elf) and Jaheira (half-elf) are all characters that a male protagonist can romance. There are also some added mods, in particulal the character Xan can be romanced by female elf protagonists with this mod.
Icewind Dale 2 = this mod adds companions and romance! Elven female characters can romance Diriel, all female characters can romance Rizdaer (drow), while male characters can romance the half-elf Salomeya.
Pendula Swing = in this game you play as a lady dwarf and retired adventurer and among the romance option there is elven policewoman Marla Lee.
Arcanum of Steamwork and Magick Obscura = while not a full romance, you can have some romantic scenes with the elf Raven (both male and female protagonists).
Dragon Age: Origins = this game needs no introduction, and Zevran is the elven romantic interest for both females and males.
Divinity Original Sin 2 =  In this game you can play as Sebille, or you can play as a new character (or the other pre-made ones) and in that case Sebille is one of the romantic options.
Icewind Dale Enchanced Edition = No companions in the original game, but this mod adds companions with a lot of banter! Teri is an elven thief romancable by male characters, while the elven ranger Korin can be romanced by female characters.
Skyrim = no need for introductions!
Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire = the returning companion Aloth is now a romance option for both male and female characters!
Dragon Age 2 = Fenris and Merrill! (And some romantic scenes with Tallis). They can be both romanced by mHawke and fHawke.
Errant Kingdom = visual novel, Roux is a non binary elf and a romance option for any gender
Bound by Flame = female characters can romance the elven archer Rhelmar, while male characters can romance Edwen (I am actually not sure she is an elf)
Morrowind = this mod adds Julan, an Ashlander, as a companion and romance option for male and female characters. Technically Ashlanders are not elves, but they seem to be inspired from drows?
Dragon Age: Inquisition = this game has two elven romance options. Sera for female characters, and Solas for female elven characters.
Neverwinter Nights 2 = Elanee is an elf druid and she is a romance option for male characters. In Neverwinter Nights 1 Hordes of the Underdark male characters can romance Nathyrra.
Loren the Amazon Princess = female characters can romance the elf Rei, and in the expansion characters of both gender can romance Mesphit. In general these visual novel games by the same publisher have various elven romance options.
Pathfinder Kingmaker = Octavia is an half-elf rogue/wizard and a romance option for both female and male characters.
Spellforce 3 = as a female character you can romance Raith or Katra, while as a male character you can romance Yria.
Dragon Commander = in this game you play as... male? I think (if I remember correctly) and you can marry the elven princess Lohannah.
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous = not a lot is known about this future game, but we at least know that Camellia is one of the romance options and an half-elf shaman!

I first got the idea to make a Dunmer magDK back they had a racial bonus to fire damage -- that should have been almost exactly a year ago, actually. It’s kind of ridiculous that I’ve never played a pyromancer in an RPG, considering my love for open flame irl. I wanted a PvP character, and EP seems to me not only the most dramatic faction (that song!) but the one with the least frivolous reason to claim the throne. Then I played Morrowind and decided that I want a Dunmer character who completely buys into the Tribunal worship. All of that combined naturally in one character. In my mind, he’s probably more fleshed out than my ESO main, and has been at least for half a year.
For several PTS cycles, I made several attempts to put a face and a name to that character idea. For comparison, I sculpted and named my Ashlander Necro later than the DK’s first iteration, made basically no changes, and moved her to the live server as soon as Elsweyr was out. On live, I bought an apartment for this guy and mostly furnished it. I bought several Crown Store collectibles mostly with him in mind. I saved riding lesson consumables for this alt. I had so many XP scrolls for him. When my other characters maxed out their crafting passives, I left gear in my bank for this future one to decon. Several events with XP bonuses, perfect for making new alts, went by.
I procrastinated as long as I could. But at last, the combination of the Midyear Mayhem, the AP login bonus and the full bank (with ESO Plus!) forced my hand.
As is typical for me, after all these months of waiting, the actual character creation was very rushed -- it was in the last 10 minutes of the day, and I wanted to catch the AP login bonus to unlock Rapids immediately. Yes, I planned to push him to 10 in the same session, but struggle for ten levels with a horse that moves slower than a turtle? No thanks!
Thankfully, the excitement of finally having a long-awaited character didn’t let me go back to the login screen and continue agonizing over his face. Put on all of my collectibles! Use my best XP scroll! As soon as I was spat out into the world, a dragon landed on the most popular spot right next to me, and it was a fire dragon too! So this fire- and dragon-themed character’s first battle was against a fire dragon.
That was a very lucky dragon, because right after it everyone in Elsweyr evidently went to bed (can never find a dragon group late at night!). I hopped over to Alik’r -- and luckily, I had a guildie doing the dolmens, so I jumped after them and unlocked all three wayshrines with no delay, which has never happened before. Leveled up almost to 10, left the dolmen group and jumped to a guildie in Vvardenfell to unlock the crafting dailies... And this patriotic Dunmer who fights in the alliance war and worships Vivec specifically, got his level 10, which qualifies you to fight in the war, by arriving at the Vivec Temple wayshrine. Couldn’t be more perfect it if I tried.
Then I acquired the St Delyn Penthouse, which I avoided on other characters because it was meant for this one, became a crafter, and finally went to Cyrodiil. The scouting mission was very deep behind enemy lines, and participating in actual pvp with no armor and no second bar wouldn’t get me very far, so I spent the rest of the night on a tutorial quest, a couple of skyshards, and Cheydinhal. By the end of the session, I had my level 15. Tomorrow I’ll make him actual gear and, hopefully, actually do some pvp!
Of course, when I went back to the login screen, I recoiled because the character seemed so ugly. Despite the fact he’s exactly the same as on the PTS. Well, I did so much stuff in one session on purpose so that there would be no temptation to undo it! Especially since everything about the session aligned so well. Wouldn’t want to undo it. Same story as Aldoriwen.
Pictured here in a hood because the hairstyle I chose (long hair with a bun in the back) looks awesome from behind but very awkward from the front, and on the loading screen especially.

Faryn for the oc meme? :D i love the cuddly cultist, not gonna lie
thank =u=
01. Name: faryn endras
02. Nickname(s): none, really
03. Gender: he is... comfortable enough being seen as a man, and didn't ever really question it. but after being assimilated into the hivemind, the concept of gender became a whole lot more nebulous for him, since the hivemind encompasses many with different gender experiences and while he does retain some sense of self, these bleed through and become part of his own feelings
04. Sexuality: pansexual is probably the closest fit, the hivemind definitely influences his relationship with his own sexuality as well
05. Best Friend: all of the sixth house cult is like a family to him and he loves them dearly - he'd almost consider it unfair to hold any member to a higher esteem for personal reasons. however, he does dote a lot on adril, since he recruited him and he can feel that adril is just not fitting in to the hivemind
06. Relationship Status: single-ish. he has had relations with other sixth house cultists, but they are definitely on the Weird side and not necessarily romantic
07: Crush/Significant Other: dagoth ur is his one true love <3
08. Least Favourite Person: prior to the cult, i reckon he wasn't overly fond of the councillor he worked for. afterwards... he isn't really the type to hold a grudge then, but he has no love for imperials (many, many imperial soldiers have met their end in the ashlands by his hand), though that is again a more hivemind related feeling
09. Favourite Food: he can't taste food at all anymore, so he can eat just about anything
10. Favourite Place: the red mountain <3
11. Valued Attributes: he doesn't really think of people like this anymore? he did use to value independence and resourcefulness, as a result of his telvanni upbringing
12. Dreams: the last time i did this, i took this to mean aspirations more than actual dreams, but since dreams are really important to faryn -- he hears other cult members really clearly in his sleep, and it makes him feel all fuzzy and comfortable. and if he listens closely, he can even hear dagoth ur
13. Nightmares: he used to have a lot of stress-dreams about his studies and work. what counts as a bad dream now is when he can't hear dagoth ur at all - faryn is always irritable and prone to violence afterwards
14. A Secret: he has no secrets
15. Best Day: the first day dagoth ur spoke to him directly, of course!
16. Worst Day: i don't think he'd be able to pinpoint any day as The Worst, though any time he can't hear dagoth ur is a Bad Time. and prior to him waking up, there were some long stretches of silence
17. Favourite Outfit: something low-effort and comfortable to nap in
18. Weapon of Choice: magic, more than anything else. he's got some wicked brutal fire spells in his arsenal, but he is really proficient in illusion magic as well - particularly of the mind-whammy variety. he does carry a dagger with him, though, just in case
19. Role in RPG: [tank/dps/healer/healtank/et cetra]: hmmm. probably some flavour of support. he certainly can dish out damage if he needs to, but the illusion magic is definitely more suited for support?
20. First Thought in the Morning: he has absolutely no sense of time and he sleeps and wakes up as he pleases. but prior to the cult stuff it was probably something like "ugh not again" or "10 more minutes please"

The official map for my Krbk-focused Fantasy AU fic Blood of my Hand!
My tablet pen is still missing, but I remembered I have one of the RPG maker programs so I was able to sort of etch out a map with my trackpad, haha! It’s a little rough in terms of the texturing, but it does the job.
So! The ??? places are Important to the Plot and their names are more than a little spoilery, so those’ll have to wait for later on to be revealed. I don’t foresee the story travelling away from this continent so I didn’t want to think about the rest of the world (the file is large enough already, lmao).
The coloured blocks indicate a grouping of nations - cyan for the Northern Kingdoms, Red for the Eastern Kingdoms, Blue for the Southern Kingdoms and green for the Western Kingdoms. Ende, the Ashlands and ???-pink are special, I guess.
I’ll be going to the fic and adding different versions of the map to each chapter to track where the characters are over the next few days, and I’ll update here when I’m done!

Southern Indiana’s Alex Stein
I tip my cap to Alex Stein.....what a career, and what a senior season!  Storybook stuff......
Alex grew up in Evansville, as his Dad is the long-time women’s basketball coach at the University of Southern Indiana.  He grew up shooting hoops in the PAC on campus.  His Dad played at USI.  His sister attends USI.  He went to Evansville’s Reitz High School, and became a really good player; in fact, Stein was named All State in Indiana after averaging 19.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.5 apg and 2.6 spg as a senior.  With such deep roots in Evansville - and at USI - he chose to attend Southern Indiana.
Fast forward.....Alex has a terrific career during his first three seasons at Southern Indiana. Heading into his senior season, he already had 1,487 points, over 300 rebounds and almost 300 assists.  He was really good and having a really good career......and then, in his senior season, he took it to another level.  He and his team had the dream season (almost)......In this season alone, Alex Stein and the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles accomplished the following:
*  Stein had 48 points in a win against Lake Superior State.  It was the second highest individual scoring output in USI history.
*  Bellarmine was 19-0 and ranked #1 in the country --- and had won a remarkable 67 consecutive games at home (their senior class hadn’t lost home game in their career) - when the Screaming Eagles went into Knights Hall to knock off Bellarmine, 80-76.
*  On February 21, Stein scored his 2,000th career point in a game against Lewis.
*  Southern Indiana is building a new, beautiful arena, which is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019-2020 season.  As such, this was the final year for the PAC --- the gym where Alex Stein grew up playing.  In the final game in the PAC, Stein hit a shot with 2 seconds remaining to beat rival Indianapolis, 67-65. His final shot in the PAC was a game-winner......what a special moment!
* Southern Indiana received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, and defeated Ashland in the opening round, 66-60.  In the following game, they played top-seeded Lewis, at Lewis. Mateo Rivera beat the buzzer with a running bank shot to give the Screaming Eagles a dramatic 62-61 win over the Flyers. Then, for the Regional Championship game, USI faced Bellarmine for the fourth time this season....and Alex Stein put on a show, finishing with 33 points (shooting 10-14 fg and 11-11 ft), and led the Screaming Eagles to a 76-69 win to send USI to the Elite Eight....in Evansville!  What a dream.....reaching the Elite Eight in your hometown!
*  In the first round of the Elite Eight, USI faced West Texas A&M, who came into the game with a stellar 34-3 overall record, and having won 19 consecutive games.  USI led wire-to-wire and defeated the Buffs, 94-84, before an Elite Eight record crowd of 7,330 fans.  What an atmosphere!  .....oh, and Alex Stein scored 31 points in the highly impressive win to send USI to the NCAA Division II Final Four.  The dream continued....
*  In the Final Four, USI played a very good Point Loma Nazarene team, and fell, 81-71.  The Screaming Eagles fought to the end, and Stein scored 18 of his 22 in the second half.....and, in the second half of his final game, Alex Stein became the all-time leading scorer in the proud history of Southern Indiana basketball, and finished his career with 2,219.
Congratulations, Alex Stein, on a remarkable career!  Well done!  I tip my cap.... it was a pleasure to witness......

Valheim Mod Introduces World Of Warcraft's Northrend
Valheim Mod Introduces World Of Warcraft's Northrend A Valheim modder has recreated World of Warcraft’s Northrend continent in a new mod for the Viking RPG. The new sandbox survival game from indie studio Iron Gate has become one of the most successful games of the past few weeks, hitting five million sales on Steam just a month after its Early Access release at the start of February, and is one of the most played games on Steam. To get more news about buy wow classic gold, you can visit lootwowgold official website. Apart from its themes and core gameplay, one of the potential reasons why Valheim has become so popular is its openness. Players are able to host their own Valheim servers and the number of mods currently available for the game number in the hundreds. Mods are one of the ways fans are able to not only build upon and expand Valheim’s gameplay, such as mods that improve the game’s visuals or streamline some of its features, but also create brand-new experiences that were not originally part of the game. This new mod, which was made by Nexus Mods user DrakonmanTheFox, is definitely one of the latter as it recreates the Northrend continent from World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion in Valheim. According to DrakonmanTheFox, the mod was created with playability in mind and will feature a difficulty curve as players explore the continent starting from the Howling Fjord, which is also one of the first locations World of Warcraft players experienced in Northrend. Some of the other locations featured in the mod include the Sholazar Basin, Crystalsong Forest, Icecrown, Stormpeaks, and more. DrakonmanTheFox also added more content to Valheim’s Deep North, Mystlands, and Ashlands biomes as well as allowing items and dungeons to spawn outside of their usual locations to help facilitate progression within the Northrend landmass. Players who want to try out the Northrend mod will also have to install the latest version of the Better Continents mod for both the player’s game client as well as the server they’re playing on. DrakonmanTheFox also recommends adding the Epic Loot mod so that the additional item spawns locations that were added with the Northrend mod will work. Recreating the entire continent of Northrend within Valheim definitely took a lot of time and effort and is sure to be a nostalgic experience for World of Warcraft players. It’s just another example of just how much fans are able to do with Valheim and that’s sure to increase even further as the game becomes bigger and more polished in the future.
