when I started shipping it if I did: I'd say i started full on shipping them at the start of mcyt yuri week, so november 2023?

my thoughts: i love them!! them!! They're so intertwined and inseparable. Do not separate Pearl from her emotional support Gem. Their relationship is so nice and sweet but can also be angsty depending on which smp they're in, but no matter what they're always near each other, talking, laughing, hugging, even with bows pointed and swords drawn they still care so much about each other.

What makes me happy about them: gay people!! They would appear under "frequently bought together" on amazon

What makes me sad about them: secret life (but it's good angst so i'm not complaining)

things done in fanfic that annoys me: i don't really read too much fanfic, and the ones i've read I have enjoyed, but I think people can sometimes make them a little too dependent on each other, though I haven't encountered it much

things I look for in fanfic: it's kind of the bare minimum, but good characterization. I'm good with angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, just some goofy oneshot as long as the author understands how the characters would art

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Pearl I do like pearleo, though I don't really see them as a healthy and/or long term relationship. I do have a soft spot for mumpearl, i think they'd be happy together :] For Gem I'm very attached to gempearl, but I'd be willing to accept falsegem

My happily ever after for them: They get married and maybe raise a dog or two together :]

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Pearl is the big spoon, mostly because of her height hehe

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: I think Gem likes braiding Pearl's hair. Also, just adventuring together, hopping in a boat together and just seeing how far it can take them

Elgar blinked in surprise. The prince blushed a little, and Elgar, knowing he was still struggling with speaking with his hands, quickly reassured him, »I understood you, I just-«

He had never had a bath prepared for himself. He washed every day, of course, buth a warm bath—that was a luxury as far out of his reach as a horse or a legally-obtained orange cake. Further, possibly. He’d dipped into rivers with friends when it was hot, and later, when it was cold, on his master’s orders.

But a real bath?

»I guess I would like that, yes.« A smile tugged at his lips at how ludicrous that was—he, street thief Elgar, in a bath. But it was already prepared anyway, for the prince. Might as well make i worth the work.

The prince nodded, smiling, then glanced away. »You can join me. It’ll be cold later. Do you want to?« He looked at Elgar earnestly as he said it, making Elgar suspect he would have phrased it more delicately if he could.

Now it was Elgar’s turn to blush. He blissfully hadn't been naked in front of anyone since they had escaped—that, too, a new luxury, but one that he was more grateful for than any others. It used to be easy, trivial even, but it wasn’t now.

But he trusted Orafin. More than he ever had anyone else, perhaps. He reached out a hand for reassurance, nonetheless, and the prince took it and squeezed it.

Elgar looked at their hands, entwined again, and nodded. »I’d like that.«

The prince led him to the tub. Its water was steaming. A hot bath. Really. For him.

It took the prince no time, and seemingly no effort, to shed his clothes. Elgar couldn’t help but watch as he carefully dipped a toe into the hot water before he slowly slid in. Not a scar left on him. The crown had sung him back together flawlessly.

The prince looked at him, then he tactfully moved around so he was sitting with his back to him. Elgar was grateful for the gesture—it did make it easier. Not easy, but easier.

He stripped, and the prince didn’t turn to look at him once. Like he was, a little voice in Elgar’s head whispered, sure enough he couldn’t avoid the inevitable.

He pushed the thought back. It wasn’t true. It wasn’t. Orafin could have taken him a thousand times if he wanted to, and he would ahve had no way to fight back whatsoever.

Now he was naked.

He took a deep breath, stepped around, and slid into the tub without looking at the prince. The water was so hot it almost hurt for a moment before he got accustomed to it.

Their legs were touching, and Elgar quickly moved his to the side without thinking.

The prince mirrored his motion, giving him more space.

Looking up, Elgar saw the look of concern on the prince’s face. Not lust, not greed, not mockery. Simple concern, as for a friend.

Elgar took another deep breath, allowing himself to relax. Being enveloped by warm water like this was a whole new sensation, the heat seeping into him comfortingly.

»This is nice.«

The prince smiled.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

If we're being honest I started writing for Marvel/DC with very little exposure to cannon media (I have since seen a few pertinent movies/tv shows and comics) so uh, all of the writers I read were pretty integral to developing my conception of all of the characters.

That said, I think @there-must-be-a-lock was the biggest influence for how I see Jason Todd and @kangofu-cb for Natasha Romanov.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Three of the many many favorites I have (not including the two already tagged in this ask just for variety, but they are very much on that list). I don't know what to say as to why I like them so much, except that the writing is phenomenal, so I'll add one fic rec for each :) [holy crap choosing just one each was HARD and now I want to reread EVERYTHING]

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

non-sexual age play/littles!verse stuff. I don't know why I love reading about littles and caretakers so much, because in real life I have literally no desire to be any part of that (in part because dealing with my actual literal children is more than enough). The stories are usually soothing though. I dunno.

1. I think I'm pretty satisfied with how Faust's character was written! I'm very happy with how they went about his journey.

2. There wasn't really a specific scene that really like 💥 to me. They're all just like. :) eheh.. waow... Faut..

But there was a scene that was really. Holy shit? Not showing how awesome he is, but it really like. God damn?? Shocking to me.

The scene in XX where he just. Smacked I-no into unconsciousness ⁉️⁉️ Like y'know this was a very nice man of healing that wanted to do good and like. Well!! He has a limit I see!

3. Ouh.. toughie.. Honestly? Rn. I'm thinking about the after credits scene in strive where he's walking with Chronus.

Like. :) they're still travelling together.. that's very implying that it's not just for. Y'know. The transactional purpose of getting knowledge during the whole Ariels thing anymore. They're travelling together for some other reason... Eheh... Also the line that Sol has during it?

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?

Let's pretend that I answered this in a timely manner but if you're writing McCoy getting mad at people and yelling at them but not writing him apologising when he steps over the line... please start doing that.

We've seen McCoy say sorry or at least try and mend the fences multiple times in canon, so please, let him say sorry to Spock or Jim when he realises that he went too far, also maybe write him as knowing he stepped over the line.

Also maybe not the post for this, but why is McCoy being so rude to the alien of the week that he causes a diplomatic incident such a common trope in fics?? Like if its over a medical issue I get it but a lot of them just act as if he's literally not capable of having a meal with a different culture without insulting them to their faces????

unfortunately, i do not have an FMAB fic ideas because i haven't even finished watching the anime or reading the manga 🥲 altho weirdly enough, recently i was randomly feeling ed x winry for some reason. idk why. SO im gonna answer the second half of the question

i'll be honest... i've fallen off pretty hard from reading fanfic 😅 most of my time had been dedicated to playing my video games. lol. but one specific fun idea to write would be something @chocomd actually brought up in a recent ask game.

for the game, she sent me an ask wondering if i would write any of my favorite characters going insane. and i'll be honest, i don't really have any favorites so far HAHAHA. but there is one character from Wuthering Waves, one of my video games, that i think would actually be really, really easy to write as going insane. it has a lot to do with the setting (post-apocalyptic world), a lot with a certain... characteristic of said world (rain that flows upwards in reverse and causes hallucinations of past events; the stronger the emotional connection is to an area, the more intense the hallucinations), and a lot to do with the background of said character (a young general who was forced into the role after his predecessor passed during a battle and watched countless soldiers under his command die). also the toll of a bell. because of course.

i played through this character's story quest, and imma be honest... there were a lot of elements in there that could be horror. so knowing all this, it's very, very, very easy for me to imagine this character going insane had he not had the strong will we see in-game. or mayhaps he is on the brink of insanity, and we just can't see it.

Time loops are always interesting, but I can't say that I have any ideas for writing that into fic for the fandoms I'm interested in - mainly, ATLA and fe:3h. But @justoceanmyth wrote a Dredge fic recently that sounds like it might involve a time loop, and tbh Dredge would be the perfect setting for an idea like that!

favorite thing about them: I like how enthusiastic her character is!! She's so bouncy :]

least favorite thing about them: I don't know if there's much I dislike about her D: not in a "i think she's perfect" type of way, but I just acknowledge her flaws and quirks and see them as part of her and that's what makes her a well written character ^_^

favorite line: "She's bisexual and dead, where else would she be!"

brOTP: Her and Richie. I think their small interactions are fun, especially in workin's boys :]

OTP: Holyphone/Lautity :3 They live in my brain rent free

nOTP: Grace doesn't have that many (popular) ships, and I'm pretty alright with all of them. but maybe Grace & pete? (usually seen when it's a polycule with pete x steph x grace) I think they could both date Steph but they definitely wouldn't date each other

random headcanon: she makes bracelets! both with beads and with threads [and generally likes arts & crafts]

unpopular opinion: not sure how unpopular this is, and also it's a bit more about Grace's family than her specifically, but I think Grace's parents truly and genuinely love her. Yes they're religious, and the way they are religious may be harmful, but the Chasities as people love their daughter so much. Sure, things might change if she tells them she killed people, but I think they'd try to understand and wouldn't instantly turn against her.

Orafin found Elgar by the pond.

Crying.

He immediately rushed over. Elgar didn't usually avoid him when he was upset, not anymore. At least, not that he was aware.

"What's wrong?" he asked in soft movements, before taking Elgar's hand.

Elgar gratefully took it, holding on to it like a lifeline. "It's nothing. It's- this is so stupid." He wiped his face with the other hand, then he confessed, "I'm- I'm homesick."

The words lanced right through Orafin's heart. He had never even considered that, but of course-

"This is so stupid."

"Don't say that."

Elgar had easily let go of his hand for him to speak, and now he hugged himself. "No, you- you don't understand. I don't want to go back. There's, there's nothing for me there."

He looked at Orafin, his eyes still shining with tears, and Orafin had an inkling that wasn't the whole truth. Not much compared to what he had here, perhaps. But nothing?

He didn't want to argue, either, though, so he simply put an arm around Elgar. Elgar took his hand from the opposite side, so he was wholly looped in Orafin's arm and his own.

"I'm sorry I worried you. I'm happy here, really I am."

Orafin nodded, and pushed his forehead against Elgar's shoulder. He knew all to well what it was like to not be able to pinpoint where the pain came from, why it came now, when all was well.

For a while they simply stood there, watching the little waves the breeze drew across the pond. Only when he felt Elgar had calmed down enough, Orafin pulled his hand free.

"You know you can always talk to me, right?"

The smallest smile tugged at Elgar's lips. "Yes. I know. Thank you."

What made me ship it?

Honestly, Verde/Skull is one of my all-time favorite ships. Mainly because they have a lot of similarities, actually. Both have attacked fellow Arcos. Skull during the mafia land arc attacked both Reborn and Colonello. And then Verde also attacked the Arco during one of the anime's filler arcs. So they both don't have the best of morals. For real, if Skull wasn’t so weak, he'd be as dangerous as Verde. Both also have flames that make them hard to kill, what with Skull being immortal and Verde having overpowered lightning flames. I think it'd be cute if Verde used his lightning to protect Skull and if Skull, in turn, made it so Verde couldn't die so easily. There is nothing more romantic than forcing your bf to live forever with you. These two can definitely make up the chink in each other's armor.

I also headcanon that Verde started out as a civilian who ran with a bad crowd in college/university so I feel like Verde can relate with Skull's plight of being the 'civilian' of the group. Which I think would make him a bit more softer to Skull.

I also really really really love small/tall ships. Especially when the small is the more fighting oriented one and the tall is the cool intellectual one. (+1000pts if the Tall is also really good at support)

What are my favorite things about this ship?

You thought I already answered this, didn't you? Hahaha---no. That was only the tip of the iceberg. There's more *dun, dun, duuuuuuuunnnnn*

I love how soft they can be or how sinister. They fit both of those vibes so well. Like Skull can be seen as a weak civilian in over his head or the wolf in sheep's clothing fooling everyone. While Verde could be the monster who doesn't hide who he is, or the man who's so smart, he's ignorant to what's hiding in plain sight.

Skull is strong enough to carry Verde brainrot.

I love how Skull is like, idk he's kind of that ball of sunshine character while Verde is more like a moon, I'd say. So I think it's cute when people have Skull doing things like making sure Verde is caring for his health or just dragging Verde out to experience the world instead of shutting himself away from it.

Alternatively, I love the idea of Verde patching Skull up and worrying about his reckless behavior. He definitely carries around a portable first aid kit so he can patch Skull up on the go. He's probably working on an invention where he can project his lightning flames around Skull to better protect them.

Which leads me to another thing, I really like the thought of them both being too weak to protect the other, but they try to anyway. Verde is a scientist,he's so ridiculously smart, but he'd never win in a fist fight. Skull tries to be strong, but he doesn't have the right training. So you know, just imagine them being so helpless to protect the other but trying to anyway despite knowing it would be futile.

I also like the opposite, where both are strong enough to protect each other.

They have power couple villain vibes!!!

You gotta love the scientist x dumb sweetheart that willingly let's himself be experimented on trope.

And....look there's probably more, but this is getting long, so yeah....just going to move on to the third question.
