Just finished Resident Alien (it’s so good, can’t wait for season 4) and I know that a large portion of the fandom is against Asta and Harry as a romantic pairing but I actually like it. I think their connection is one of the best things about the show. I also think the writers may be at least considering a romantic relationship at some point. My evidence, Episode 1 of season 3.

During the episode Harry compares himself to Superman. Later in the episode he calls Asta his kryptonite, literally his weakness. Now that could easily be explained away as just their friendship being his weakness. Except there’s what, or rather who, he compares Asta to next.

While still thinking of himself as Superman, Harry compares Asta to one of Superman’s “sidekicks.” Now for a familial connection Harry could have compared Asta to Supergirl, Superman’s cousin and only kryptonian family he has on Earth. Harry could have said Asta was like Jimmy Olsen, Superman’s human best friend and bumbling confidant, if they were trying to emphasize Harry and Asta’s friendship. Harry could have gone for the humorous comparison and said Asta was Krypto the Superdog. He doesn’t though. Harry compares Asta to Lois Lane, Superman’s primary love interest.

I’m just saying the writers had options.

Asta:Not this again.

Harry: I am simply stating the truth. Plus I don't like that boy.

Asta looks on while gently mocking the alien: aaaah so you just don't want our little girl to get a boyfriend~~

Harry: That is not the issue. I am merely stating she deserves superior company regardless of gender as you well know. Also I do not like that boy. If he touches our... child I will kill h-

Asta: Nooo! ~~

Out of the blue the little boy pushes their child a little too roughly and she falls. Harry runs towards the scene but is surpassed by his wife who immediately grabs the little boy.

Asta: Listen here!

Harry grabs their crying daughter and soothes her as he looks at his wife.

Asta: Apologize right now mister!

The child, fearing the adult's anger, does as he is told and scampers away as soon as Asta's grip loosens.

As Asta composes herself, Harry looks at her with heart eyes and a huge grin.

Harry: Well now, if you wanted to be the one to end that snotty offspring first, all you had to do was ask.

Asta slapping Harry's arm: yeah yeah you're a bad influence. Now let's get our baby home.

As Asta fusses over their child's well-being, Harry smiles wider from how he managed to influence Asta just as she did to him: Bad influence indeed. * then he adds suggestively * We will need to discuss this later.

Asta rolls her eyes playfully.

I was making the decision that the Earth is more important than any one person. But what if that one person feels more important than anything? What if you love them so much, you will choose what is best for them over what is best for an entire planet? If I am a superhero, Asta is my kryptonite.

My vision this is canon btw (it's not) harry and d’arcy are just besties. They hold meetings about how to keep asta the happiest and safest (she’s the only reason either of them have faith in humanity)

If this was 2 years ago I'd be happy people are shipping Harry and Asta but I need yall to know, as someone who loved it, it's never ever happening in the show. You can still like it obvs Im not cop, but don't expect it.

Sara thinks it's cringe (they literally did a whole interview to squash it middle of s2), they've said more than enough times in interviews and literally in the show itself in case you somehow missed the whole storyline that she sees him as a child and she is 'parenting' him, at this point they aren't even friends he's just a burden she's stuck with. I just don't want yall to get hurt expecting that when they literally hate shippers with a passion and they're not nice about it.

My mom kept trying to get me to watch resident alien because the rest of my family was watching it, and she said it was good and entertaining. I'm almost done with season one and I guess it's just a coincidence that she didn't know I am a sucker for monster/human relationships bc i am here for it
