So while I was writing my fic and studying Frey's new outfit closely, I realized that one of the key accessories she now has is a kind of belt? sash? (IDK. I ended up calling it a belt.)

ANYWAY, so if you look closely you can see she has at least two knives: a smaller one near the orangeish pouch on her right side, and on her left you can spot a pretty bigass one that probably has a five or six inch blade.

So where am I going with all this? Given the gear and general outdoors preparedness vibe of it, I've decided to headcanon that Auden's mom Calista had it originally, and Auden has kept it all those years as a kind of sentimental connection, so for her to set Frey up with it just cements how firmly she believes Frey is The One who can help Athia. <3

Re-playing through Forspoken sadly my completed save is all gone so I had the opportunity to replay through got to one of the locked labyrinths and discovered something very interesting…

If any one could figure out what the red text says that would be great it’s hard to see but it is in Athian. Also looks like a Rheddah soldier mask on a skeleton makes you wonder what happened here…. I’m thinking that each locked labyrinth says something different or has a different symbol on it.

SCIENCE NERDERY INCOMING

If Athia's world is at all Earth-like then it has a molten iron core which would tend to create a dipole-like field (to first order) so the compass will (mostly) work, BUT...

What does the Athian world's magnetic field look like??? Is planetary north the same as magnetic north? Or is it totally wonky with a correction having to be made??? What even does the Athian world's magnetic declination look like?

There. Are. So. Many. Questions.

I don't know what it is, but Cinta helping out in a pawnshop gives me so much life. I can just see her nerding out on all the ancient earthy contraptions that added so much to the development of well, our world I suppose?

I mean, stuff like compasses were no big deal in our world, but they were revolutionary in Athia as stated in this archive.

Ok so can we talk for a second about just how stupidly huge this entire ass terrace/garden in front of Junoon Castle is?

The plants grown in this place could've probably fed hundreds, and potentially even just over a thousand people!

Given that there are outlying settlements not far from the castle, I could easily see them being supported by this bigass garden.

I haven't even gone over how big the castle is but like check this picture at the front entrance to get a sense of the size of that fucking place:

Or the fact that Athia has these huge spiky geological features that are apparently just totally normal and not what the actual fresh fucking hell--

Anyway tl;dr Athia has some interesting features and working out what it all meant is just as much fun as actually following the storyline.

There are 13 Locked Labyrinths in Athia. And all of them are filled with a Tanta's (Broken) magic.

You'd think they'd be evenly distributed, right? Three for each, one left over so probably given to the oldest/most powerful. But they're not evenly split!

Cinta has five labyrinths, whereas Prav only has two, with Olas and Sila tied at three labyrinths each.
