Hi hi, i absolutely LOVE your hualian art, your genshin art is top notch as well (even though I'm not into genshin) at the risk of sounding like a stalker, i saw on your Twitter that you also appreciate Shreya Ghoshal so i have only one question: how does it feel to be a person of immaculate taste and culture
Aw thank you!! I need to get back to doing hualian art 😌 I miss them!!! Haha not at all, I adore her voice! Shreya Ghoshal has the range 🤌🏽
Arijit Singh is my other favourite, I think I may have been in his top listeners on Spotify last year 🫣 and then when I’m in my sad girl hours, I listen to Atif Aslam. But Arijit? His voice sends me to the cosmic ocean 😌👌🏽
You also have excellent taste 🫵🏽

The son of the man suspected of killing at least two Muslim men in New Mexico in recent months may also have played a role in the crimes, authorities alleged in court documents filed last week.
In a preliminary hearing on Monday, Judge John F. Robbenhaar elected to detain Shaheen Syed, a son of Muhammad Syed, pending trial after listening to evidence brought against him by federal prosecutors. Robbenhaar ultimately found that Syed "represents a danger to the community."
Syed was already in custody and is facing separate charges after he was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly putting an incorrect address in a firearms transaction record for a weapon he bought last year.
Syed's father, Muhammad Syed, is a suspect in the killing of Naeem Hussain, 25, on Aug. 5 and the slaying of Mohammad Ahmadi, 62, on Nov. 7. Authorities are still investigating those cases, and he has not been charged with the murders.
In documents filed by the U.S. attorney's office on Friday, prosecutors claim evidence ties Shaheen Syed, also known as Maiwand, to those murders. That evidence was brought before the court in Monday's hearing.
This evidence includes cell tower data, which connect his phone to his father's and place them both near where Naeem Hussain was murdered this month. There is also evidence that Syed had "short and frequent communications with his father both before and after the murder of Naeem Hussain," the documents say.
"Telephone calls between Muhammad Atif Syed and the defendant would be consistent with quick surveillance calls, both before and after the shooting," according to the U.S. attorney's office. "And there appears to be no logical reason for the defendant to have just happened to have been in the vicinity of the murder scene so shortly after Mr. Hussain was murdered."
Investigators also found a pistol in Syed's bedroom when they executed a search warrant at the family home. It was not made clear whether the weapon is connected in any way to the two murders.
In court, an attorney for Syed argued that federal prosecutors are attempting to detain his client for a crime he has not been charged with based off of a cursory investigation.
"The United States’ motion boils down to an effort to detain Defendant for a crime with which he has not even been charged," attorney John C. Anderson said in a response to the initial federal motion. "If the United States or the State of New Mexico does not have sufficient evidence even to charge Defendant with any involvement in the murders, Defendant should not be detained based on supposed involvement in those murders."
Anderson said Syed and his father’s sharing an interest in firearms in addition to cell tower data that does not say exactly how close he was to the scene of the recent murder “is hardly clear and convincing" evidence.
The court documents also refer to Syed as a “serial liar.” Investigators alleged that he lied several times, citing the incident in which Syed allegedly used an incorrect address while purchasing a firearm.
Highlighting his alleged dishonesty in court on Monday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Brawley said Syed told law enforcement officials early last week after the search of his family’s residence that he had not been in the Volkswagen Jetta linked to his father at gun stores recently, which authorities said was determined to be false.
“Defendant’s propensity for dishonesty should undermine the Court’s confidence that he will be forthright with any probation officer tasked with supervising him on any form of pretrial release," the court documents say.
Syed's past run-ins with law enforcement were also cited as reasons to detain him in documents and in court.
Police responded to a call earlier this year about a domestic violence incident in which Syed was alleged to have hit his 16-year-old sister and his father. His father, who had blood all over his face, said he tried to prevent Syed from hitting his sister, which resulted in Syed’s striking him in the face, according to the documents.
The daughter did not cooperate with police, and she told them she did not know what happened, while the father opted to press charges against Syed. The police report on this incident also mentions that Syed had previously allegedly hit his sister "to the point she was in the hospital and taken into custody by CYFD (Children Youth & Families Department)."
Officers issued Syed a summons to appear in court on a criminal charge of "battery on a household member," but he failed to appear, they said. A bench warrant issued for Syed on April 4 remains outstanding.
Anderson said he never received the summons or the complaint, according to court documents.
His father was also implicated in troubling domestic violence incidents, including one in a state office building, court documents show.
Another incident prosecutors characterized as "road rage" in July 2021 was also submitted as evidence against Syed by prosecutors.
In the incident, Syed and his brother were in a car in a Walmart parking lot in Albuquerque when a the driver of a black sedan "brake checked" them, then flashed a firearm. Syed, who was driving the car, allowed his brother to step out of the passenger side and shoot at the black sedan before quickly driving away, the court heard.
No charges were brought against Syed or his brother in this incident, according to court documents.
Syed now has the right to appeal the order to detain him to a district judge, but his attorney told NBC News on Tuesday that he hasn't made a final decision yet.

10 song challenge
Rules: tag 10 songs you can’t stop listening to and then tag 10 people Thanks for the tag @incurablescribbler and @medhasree<3
I will be doing 15 because I am extra like that
1) Ishq Zahenaseeb OST- I haven’t been in peace since the day I heard this song. The soft vocals and the amazing lyrics. I love the blend of the modern romantic vibe with the sufi part. Fav lyrics “Main tabah hua, main fana hua. Mera rom jalke swah hua. Tadap meri kuch aur shadeed, tadap meri kuch aur shadeed”
2) Kehna hi kya- Bombay- Classic AR Rehman. Fav lyrics “Sitam thoda thoda hum pe shokh hawa bhi kar jaye. Aise chale, aanchal ude, dil mein ek toofan uthe. Hum toh lut gaye khade hi khade.
3) Supermassive Blackhole- Muse This song always makes me want to pick a fight with someone! Fav lyrics everytime Matt Bellamy says ohhhhh you set my soul alight. *fans self* *takes deep breath*
4) Alif OST- Again the vocals by Shuja Haider and Momina Mushtehsan. My fav lyrics in this song is probably just all of it. The song explains the relationship between God and human so well.
5) Amaro Porano Jaha Chay- From stories by Rabindranath Tagore- This is the Arijit Singh version. I don’t understand the lyrics but love the way this song is sung and the melancholic feel of the song. Also it fit in so well with the story of the episode
6) Lahu Muh Lag Gaya- Ramleela And at the 6th song my chichora side has come out. If the word coquettish was made into a song it would be this song. Full disclosure I never cared much for this song in the movie I liked it after I saw a clip of YRHPK with Shaheer and Rhea doing nain mataka to this song. Fav lyrics: Bhatak rahi hai aankh yeh malang ang ang ang. Atak gayi hai saans uske sang sang sang”
7) Channa- Atif Aslam- Coke studio- As much as I rail on Atif Aslam for singing out of scale when he does get it right its downright a delight. The softness in his voice in this song is so soothing and just makes me go weak in the knees. The mix of Punjabi lyrics and western classical arrangement works so well in this song. Whoever came up with the arrangement is a genius. Fav lyrics  “ Loon Loon vich teri, deed ravan ve,Nahi reh sakdi tere bina ve”
8) Jai Jai Girivar Raj Kishori- From Siya Ke Ram. If there is anything that this show got right it was music and aesthetics. This song with the way this shot is set up, classic.Any version of Ram and Sita meeting for the first time for me is just has my heart soar. Fav lyrics: the entire end when the tempo goes up.
9) Pompeii- Basitille- This song just reminds me of my time in London. Times that I really miss a lot. It also has the line which is basically as a question I ask myself all the time “ how am I gonna be an optimist about this?”
10) Do I wanna know- Arctic Monkeys- Alex Turner’s voice is probably the most sensual thing in the world for me. I love the vibe of this song and the whole song is brilliantly written.
11) Paradise- Coldplay - I can not have a song tag without this song. I feel like this song symbolizes my need to move from one place to another ( Along with Kabira). Fav lyrics : I love all of the lyrics but I love the way he sings “lying underneath the stormy skies, she says oh I know the sun must set to rise”
12) Kabira- Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani ( both versions)- This song is just so bittersweet and sings about people who are constantly on the move to find something that feels right. Fav lyrics: “Ban liya apna pigambar, Tar liya tu aat samandar. Phir bhi sukha man ke andar kyun reh gaya”
13) Train song- Gully boy- This song is so wholesome and upbeat. Fav lyrics;  ““Sapne Jinme Ho Aisi Ho Teri Aankhe Payaar Mein Jinme Ho Aisi Hi Teri Baate Jin Umide Ho Aise Tere Din Ho Chain Ho Jin Mein Aisi Hi Teri Rate”
14) Kajar Bin Kaare- Karsh Kale ft Sulaiman Merchant. When this song says ghayal kiyo jiya ra re, that is how I feel about this whole song. The lyrics and vocals are amazing but my favorite is the musical arrangement and how much fun all the people are having while playing this song. The flute bit always gives me goosebumps. Love it.
15) Mathura Nagarpathi- Raincoat- I don’t know how I have never heard of this song up until this year and now it’s one of my favorites. Shubha Mudgal can never go wrong with vocals and is as stunning as ever. The best thing for me is obviously the lyrics, so heart-wrenching and aptly describing the pain of being away from a loved one/place. It gives me all the Krishna struggling to be human while being a god feels.
Anyways I went way over but I just have a lot of feelings about music okay!! What do these songs tell about me? Well if someone figures it out do let me know lol!
Tagging @demonkidpliz @cursedbabyclown @uwu-bro @youandthemountains @nihilisticdebate @allegoriesinmediasres @randomfandomtraveller @anandamayenu @m0hinii and whoever else comes across this and wants to do it!
Stay safe guys!

Tag Game!
Rules: answer 21 questions and then tag 21 people (bold of you to assume I know more than two people on this hellsite) who you want to get to know better.
I was tagged by @temmie-loony who is awesome, like thank you, I don’t know why I feel so flattered right now, but I do
Nickname(s): Diyu (everyone on my mom’s side of the family maybe), Diyumuni (grandma, mom’s side), Diyappa (my mom’s youngest sister), Gubbu/Gubbi (my mom’s other younger sister; the two names are kind of interchangeable), Diyapochua (my mom’s younger brother), probably others thanks to my mom's side of the family who come up with 135% of my nicknames as mentioned above
Zodiac: Sagittarius!
Height: 5ft. - 5ft.2 (maybe 3? hopefully?)
Last movie I saw: Ready (I've watched it 500 times over, no joke, just check my Netflix account)
Last thing I googled: statistics a tool for social research 4th edition (if anyone wants to hit me up with a pdf, I will be forever grateful; I hate this class, it’s 8am, I’m there right now, I’m a language student what the fuck is this?!)
Favourite musician: ummmmmm idk it changes this is hard wtf
Okay, so right off the top of my head - Shawn Mendes (I love every single one of his songs, I didn’t think I would, but I did), P!nk (all-time fave), The Pretty Reckless (Taylor Momsen’s voice you guys!), Big Time Rush, Kurt Hugo Schneider (okay, technically he’s a cover artist, but this man is magical like he plays a ridiculous number of instruments, his production quality is so unique and wonderful and his VOICE - listen, he does not sing as often as he should, and he shouuuuuld), and just like any song that was composed by A. R. Rahman, written by Javed Akhtar and sung by either Arijit Singh, Atif Aslam and/or Shreya Ghoshal you really can’t go wrong with
Song stuck in my head: A constant is Oi Dur Paharer Dhare (I still haven't heard the original) but as of recent Naa Tum Jaano Naa Hum from a movie called Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (which defined my entire childhood solely) because I didn't realize that it was on my phone and I've been using Spotify the entire time but now I'm obsessed and I can't stop and basically I'm my own worst enemy; also, sometimes L’oiseau et l’enfant by Marie Myriam makes an appearance and it tends to make me like 4000x more dramatic than I usually am, which is saying a lot and I Like Me Better by Lauv (the KillerVibe theme, fight me)
Other blogs: I wish I was fabulous enough to have more than one blog (maybe one day... *wistful sigh*)
Do I get asks: once in a blue moon, yes, but I love and cherish every single one of them
Following: I’m assuming you mean how many people I’m following and not how many followers I have, so 554, I’m following 554 people
Amount of sleep: it depends... in high school, it used to be that I just wouldn’t sleep during the months of January and June, but now in uni it’s changed to October-December and February-April; honestly, I could go to sleep at like 3AM, and still wake up at 7AM and be fine as long as I finish classes by like 6PM - I don’t need more than 3-4h of sleep
Lucky number: 13, 7, 4
What I’m wearing: my favourite... what colour is this maroon? like a plum, reddish-purpley (burgundy? I don’t know colours) thing (matches my hair) sweater that says ‘hello’ the bottom in white, the one pair of jeans I wear even though I have like 10 others, and my gray snow boots which are pretty cute considering that snow boots are ugly as fuuuuck (and probably pizza socks... am I wearing socks today? I don’t think I remembered to put on socks, nvm)
Dream job: to work with the UN, that's what I'm striving towards anyway, and maybe get a book published (my main goal in life is to be a functioning adult, and honestly, the UN thing seems infinitely more realistic)
Dream trip: a road trip to I don’t know where yet, but it’s gonna be a road trip
Favorite food: does food in general count? the first thing that comes to mind is chotpoti (it’s basically the filling you have inside a pani puri, but better cuz phuchkas over pani puri every time - but it’s literally these tiny lentils, chickpeas if you wanna be lazy, cooked with potatoes and every spice known to the world and then you add the tamarind sauce which is so hard to make and that’s why there’s always a limited amount but every asshole that comes to our place on Eid literally drinks it like some animal but whatever you literally have to soak the dry tamarind in water and get all the gross stuff out while keeping the good stuff and figure out a good balance of chilli powder, salt and sugar and it’s never as good as when mom does it)
Idk why I just ranted like it’s my job, but I’m leaving it there. I also like thin-crust mushroom pizza (the brand is Ristorante and it is the best), my dad’s shrimp and potato curry (idk what else to call it, I don’t even eat it with rice, I turn that shit into a taco, I’m not even sorry), naan and bihari kebab w/ that really spicy green chutney/raita/whatever it is, piyaju and aloo chop (it’s fried and it’s so bad for you, and I hate onions but for some reason I don’t give a fuck when it comes to piyaju even though it’s just lentils and onions - it’s frieeeeeed), and apple pie (apple anything dessert tbh)
Play any instruments: I've played piano kinda on and off (I could probably follow a song), I learned flute in middle school but I never continued it and ooooooo I'm trying to teach myself guitar; I also sing
Languages: Bangla (I need to re-learn how to read and write though, which is so sad), Hindi, Urdu, English, French, I’m slowly becoming fluent in Spanish and I’m trying to teach myself Arabic (listen, I might not be the doctor cousin, but look grandma I can read the Quran - I know my strengths! also, Arabic is a really pretty language)
Favourite song(s): Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen), Cheer Up (A Great Big World), Can’t Help Falling In Love (Elvis Presley), Raabta from Agent Vinod (the Shreya Ghoshal version!!!), Tujhko Jo Paya from Crook and Jo Pyaar Ho Gaya from Ishaan
Random fact: I am deathly afraid of birds. I always thought that birds just kinda freaked me out, but then I ran into oncoming traffic because there was a pigeon nearby so there’s that.
Describe yourself as aesthetic things: black with splashes of pink and yellow because I have no sense of anything, snow, plaid shirts, sweaters, leather jackets, boots, coffee, cute stationery, studying (y’all know what I’m talking about right? like those images on Pinterest of ‘messy’ notes and pens and crap, usually with glasses there), pizza socks, fuzzy animal socks that probably have the little 3D whatever ears and nose (do they use pom-poms for those? idk), any variation of the ‘world’s okayest sister’ quote, BOOKS, candles, white lilies (the only flower I acknowledge as a flower)
Tagging: @maniq1 @darwinquark @ciscoscaitlin @dibs4ever @winxy-writing @thatkillervibe @sunshineoptimismandangels @lightninginmyeyes @headoverhiddles @hope-dyne @nordarhk @kendrasaunders @jwmelmoth @daftydraw  @taakoshell  @lewispanda @jalonii @cheleonrage712 @deathly-smirk @purpleyin  @crelliefan4life

Yaar, anon, I really had to think for this one.
Okay here goes:
The Obros doing aarti together for the first time, their parents can go take a hike lol
Omkara throwing away his statue in anger and then crying, as he overhears Pinky taking jibes at Jahnvi for raising her sons badly.
Om consoling Rudy as Shivaay is in the hospital after Gayatri’s attack 😭
First Rumya scene in the hospital
ShivKara saving Rudy at the pub, after pulling his leg.

Omkara teaching Shivaay and Rudra how to say ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’, meanwhile the girls on their own trip about the pathetic boys.
Annika singing the iconic “Billu ki Shaadi hogi”😂😂😂 song, which later became the motto and tagline of IB.
Soumya tricking Rudra as Love Angel and making him to lameass stuff to make a fool of himself over Romi
The sarso ka saag episode, the entire family having dinner like a normal fam
The Janmashthami episode “Billu ki pant phatt gayi” 😂😂😂
Rakshabandhan scene between Annika/Sahil and Om/Soumya. 😭😭
The entire Mallika track (thats the reason I started watching the show, ‘cos Surbhi Jyoti came for a cameo) esp. the Shitia letter, Shivaay with his past, present, and future, and Mallika explaining everyone what her issue was. 💜
The Phukat Raja episodes where Sahil solves the mystery and Shivika + OmRu are on the chase of the fake video girl in that chawl. 😂😂

Tia breaking down on reuniting with Robin (?) returning to her good self. Also her equation with Shivaay and Annika
Shivaay reuniting with his brothers after he comes back from his kidnap/replacement by Mahi. 😭😭
Annika and Shivaay when they go outside Mumbai, the time Annika burns Shivaay’s car down and two theifs masquerading as Forest Officers give them a lift. 😂😂
The first two weeks of DBO, they were awesome, man. Esp. Kali and Gauri scenes, each and every one of them. 🔥🔥
The scene in the train “Zaroor aapke saath kuch bura huya hoga, tabhi aap aise ho gaye hain” + the jungle scene “Sharma!” “Ssarma?” 😂😂
Rikara marriage
Gauri and Dandi bhaiyaa scenes, esp. the scene after he saves her from the goons in the Shaktiman costume
Gauri helping Svetlana in outwitting the autowallahs, and dancing to naajaane kaha se aayi hai.😂😂
Omkara and Chulbul’s fairylights scene.
ShivOmRu getting freaked out by Chulbul and testing the “static” 😂😂
Rudra breaking into Maa Da Laadla whenever Chulkara collide.😂😂
Svetlana skating back to Mumbai clinging to Om’s car, and reaching before them. (I don’t think I’ll ever get over this scene) 🤣🤣🤣
Gauri hiding from Shivaay. 😂😂
Omkara explaining Chulbul the meaning of One Night Stand 😂😂
Chulbul and Rudra interactions, esp. the one where Chulbul is locked inside and he uses a magnet to make the robot bang its head on the door, to grab Rudra’s attention who is standing outside listening to songs on his ipod. (I’ve watched this scene 10 times and I still crack up like mad watching the robot pound its head on the door).🤣🤣🤣
The first scene of Thakurain Gauri (Shrenu’s best acting till date. Thakurain Gauri is a legend, who deserves an entire show just dedicated to her. She’s my god and queen and boss!) 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gauri and Kali’s argument. “Teri yeh bedhiyaan hamaare paaon jakar sakti, hamaare mann ko nahi, tu humpe pehra pehra laga sakta hain, par hamari soch pe nahi, Gauri Kumari Ssarma ko tod sakta hain, par uske visvaas ko nahi” The summary of DBO in one dialogue. 🔥🔥

The Pari track, the Obros were damn hilarious. 😂😂
Gauri dragging Omkara’s arse after Pinky taunts her+ the fairytale story scene where Gauri questions him.
Rikara sketchbook scene where Omkara talks about his art (also the most deep and meaningful scene this show has ever written) 💜
Rudra and Gauri’s ‘perspiration’ scene, esp. Rudra trying to persuade Gauri to abandon the dupatta while doing jumping jacks.😂😂

Gauri and Ragini gallofying each other in their heads 😂😂 (Gauri is a lot like Shivaay, in the sense, Shivaay used to provoke fights with Annika due to his attraction to her, while Gauri does the same wrt to Svetty and Ragini. Of course, Omkara’s asexuality made Gauri embrace her lesbian side)
Annika and Gauri scene the night before the fake wedding

Shivaay finding out about Pinky’s truth and telling her that any goodness in him is because of his brothers, OmRu. 😭😭

Rudra handing over his pehli kamaayi to Bhavya after fixing a pipe. I’m not a Ruvya fan, but this scene was perhaps the only scene where Rudra’s character showed any growth i.e. him learning that value of money and how to earn it.
Omkara rolling his eyes at Gauri 1267th time doing her lame sunglass and candy trick.
Omkara having to restrain Gauri from picking a fight with Dangal Dada + situation reverse and Omkara shrugging away Gauri’s hand and the poor girl being thrown back 😂😂

Gauri upset at Omkara’s reaction at the chai thela “Jab aapko kuch pata hi nahi, toh phir pooch kyun rahe hain”
Shivaay consoling Gauri after the exhibition fiasco
Gauri finding Omkara blindfolded.
Shivaay gifting Annika Sahil’s adoption papers.
Annika and Gauri’s trip to the village and saving Suman on that phatphatti. Bhaujaai and Chuitki fleeing on the bike will remain epic. 😂😂
Shivika and Rikara’s parallel scenes in the prison. “Hamaare sehen karne shakti ab khatam ho chuki hain”
Inspector Taadka putting the entire Oberoi family into prison “Arey yeh baat bahut karte hain” 😂😂
Omkara getting drunk and confessing his anger to his parents, when Gauri goes missing for 15 days. Esp. Tej trying to reconcile with Om “Badi der kar di huzoor aate aate”😭😭 I actually felt bad for Omkie at this point (does not mean I forgive him, but boy has a lotta issues fucking his head courtesy his parents)
Gauri breaking up with Omkara, confessing that she made a mistake falling in love with a loser like him, who keeps misunderstanding her because of his sick mentality (Also, Shankarji in the back). Epic scene! 🔥🔥
Gauri getting dressed for Karva chauth
Dilpreet questioning Gauri’s ability to manage Richa’s wedding finances and Gauri asserting that no one might have any faith in her, but she has faith in herself and Shankarji.
Annika’s mad “buddhi” dance at Gauri’s roka. ShivKara’s WTF expressions. 😂😂
Gauri delivering a set down to Omkara and rejecting his “confession”
Annika having nightmare of Chutki and hugging Gauri while they are sleeping 😭😭
The Obros funny scene and pillow fight 😂😂
Gauri questioning Omkara, if he would have forgiven her if she had done all that, he did + tearing off the dupatta at the temple, and telling Omkara to GTFO. (the point at which Rikara story should have ended, with their separation, because Om’s redemption is not possible).
Obros kidnapping Gauri (’cos consent doesn’t exist in their dictionary). Rudra going “Mubarakho bhaabhi, hum aapko kidnap kar rahe hai” 😂😂
The Obros lameass attempts to hide Gauri. Rudra “Ab firauti ki demand kare?” 😂😂
Pia getting the LOLs out of fucking with the Obros.
Rudra ordering the Royal Bengal Tiger. Shivaay “Yeh sher nahi, tiger hain!”
Gauri enthusiastically planning to drug bade bhaiyaa with “Babaji ki booti” +Om having it by mistake and going “Surooooor” 😂😂
The one scene where Annika shows Gauri her new home in Goa.
The holi scene where Annika and Gauri get high on bhaang vaale gujiya. “Sher toh hamara chirota maarta hain” “Manjhla devar shikari hain?” “Naahi naahi woh *roars* vaala sher nahi, waah waah vaala sher maarte hain” 😂😂
Annika and Gauri sleeping together like old times after the AniRi reunion. 😭😭
Omkara gifting Gauri the trophy saying ‘you are my hero’. The context was stupid, but I’m all here for Omkie Shomkie stating the facts.
The AniRi scenes from redux
Yeah, I can’t remember anymore and I’m exhausted. I’m sure there are others, but my memory is hazy now. Do we have any in common, anon?

New Video: Namaz-e-Haqeeqat Kiya Hai? | By His Holiness @younusalgohar
Atif Ali from Karachi asked: Is it permissible in Islam to offer Salat alone at home when the clerics say it is necessary to offer Salat behind them, in a group?
HH Younus AlGohar’s reply:
One thing is to offer Salat and then there is offering Salat in a group.  Offering Salat in a group is greater but only when you know that your Salat is being accepted by God. The first and foremost concern should be whether your Salat is being accepted.
Koran: Salat refrains one from committing bad deeds.
If you believe your Salat is being accepted then why have you not stop committing bad deeds? There are over 500,000 mosques, can you imagine the number of people who worship every day? But when you look at their characters and the ever-increasing corruption shows the blatant reality: their worship is not being accepted.
The biggest thing lacking from the worship is the presence of the Spiritual Heart.
Koran: Salat is made obligatory upon the Momineen (Enlightened Believers).
This does not mean that everyone should stop offering Salat. It simply means that you need to search for the True Salat. The Salat you are engaged in is not incorrect but it is not the True Salat. The thing lacking from your Salat which will make it the True Salat is the principle rule of Islam: Declaration of the tongue and affirmation of the Spiritual Heart.
Even Prophet Mohammad said: There is no Salat without the presence of the Spiritual Heart.
When your Salat becomes True Salat then it does not matter whether you are offering Salat alone in your house or in a group in the mosque. It is written in the narrations that there is reward in offering Salat in a group, however, that is only when everyone has the presence of the Spiritual Heart included in their Salat.

"Spring Forward" by Ihsan Hines
I was going through my archives and I just found this article I wrote 7 years ago.  If you have the time to read it, I hope it encourages you.  And I'd like to hear your thoughts.
“Spring Forward”
Written by Ihsan Hines
Saturday, March 10, 2012  12:00pm
Over the years I’ve come to realize that no person is exempt from the human experience.  Our specific experiences may differ but we all have our seasons of life and as we all know, seasons vary.  Natural weather seasons include winter, spring, summer, and fall and our life seasons involve similar transitions.  At times life seems very warm, followed by periods of loss and change, followed by coldness and loneliness.  I’m extremely excited that new life always allows us to spring forward.  I know these seasons very well and like many people, I struggle with processing the opportunity to spring forward after I’ve had to fall back.  Tonight an important event will take place that I’m sure most of you are super eager to experience.  We will all have one less hour to sleep!!  Yes, it’s daylight savings time and in order to be on the same time schedule as everyone else, we must set our clocks an hour forward.  I find it interesting that just before a season that represents so much new life and a beautiful atmosphere, we lose something.  The environment changes drastically but we lose something.  Now this may sound simple and sophomoric but I do have a point that I’m trying to make.  If you give me a few moments, I will try to explain and share some thoughts that have come to me as gifts from my experiences.  Spring represents so much more to gain than the loss that we encounter.  Actually, some of what we lose represents an improvement or gain.
As a Christian, I’ve been reminded that to live is Christ and to die is gain.  What does that mean?  It means that as I live in a relationship with my heavenly Father through Jesus Christ, I am in a very good situation.  It also means that even when my life clock runs out of time, I will have an everlasting hourglass.  I am by no means trying to force decisions regarding faith but I am sharing my own source of hope.  There is a metaphor represented with spring time that I see within faith.  Counting blessings rather than amplifying minor losses can help us appreciate the moment we live in.  Tomorrow morning when we wake up after our shortened night of rest, we will be able to count one major blessing immediately.  We woke up!!  Looking at the bright side of our circumstances is necessary just like buying gas is necessary for a car to drive.  And I understand gas is extremely high right now but if we pour water into our gas tanks, we will not be able to drive anywhere and we will actually damage the vehicle.  This is similar to what pain and depression does to the human vehicle.  If positive days and positive energy is fueling our hearts and minds, we will be better equipped to spring forward.
Some of you may be thinking that all sounds like the right perspective but it’s easier said than done.  You are absolutely right.  Healing is a process.  I have been frustrated countless days and nights during the process of getting from dark places to where I know I should be.  Just like it takes time to get from winter to spring, it also takes time to get from hurting to healed.  This winter has been very mild and it seems like we didn’t get much snow at all.  It’s not like last winter or the one before that when we had multiple days of snow up to our belly buttons.  That’s an important thing to acknowledge because not only do seasons change from one to another but seasons change within themselves.  That’s a reflection of healing.  Most of us, if not all of us has experienced the loss of loved ones either by death or separation.  We lose friends and relatives as they transition from life to death.  We lose close interaction with people when families separate due to divorce or breakups.  And there are other forms of separation such as relocation for employment, military obligations, and prison sentences.  Some people have even had to experience separation due to kid-napping.  I don’t want to make light of the pain that each circumstance causes but I want to attempt to make the healing process heavy.  Just like last winter doesn’t look like this winter, we can develop hope as time goes on after our major life losses.  I hope someone can relate to me when I say I have not forgotten the loved ones that were lost but I have seen progressive days for me to cope after each loss.
What did I lose?  I’m not an expert on pain nor do I have all the solutions for life.  What I am is a man who is living, learning, and hopeful to help others as much as I can.  During the spring and summer of 2007, I felt like I was on top of the world.  My family was happy.  I was a new father to my first son.  My heart was healing after a breakup and I fell in love with an amazing woman.  I was traveling frequently as a recording artist and I released my first album that July.  I remember being very excited because the date of the release fell on 07/07/07.  That was a great time in my life, but seasons change.  I have a younger brother named Atif who I love dearly.  My mother raised us by herself and she always taught us to love each other and look out for our family.  Atif has a daughter named Jordan who looks just like him.  He had a great career as a supervisor at US Airways and his life appeared so well managed from the outside looking in.  In August of 2007, I cut my brothers hair and I had no idea that would be the last time I’d ever see him.  On August 31st 2007, while I was preparing to perform at a concert, I received a text message from Atif that said, “I’m sorry, I love you”.  I thought nothing of it and I actually assumed that he sent it to the wrong person.  I mean we didn’t have an argument and he didn’t do anything to me.  What I didn’t know is that this was Atif’s way of saying goodbye forever.  On that day he made a decision that changed seasons for his life and everyone who knows him.  After spending the day with his daughter, he went home with a gun that he purchased that day and took his life.  Suicide….  For reasons that I will never truly know, my brother committed suicide.  I was in denial for a while and thought that someone killed him and made it look like suicide.  Although seasons gradually improve, I lost my little brother…. my mother lost her child and some of the pain will probably be with us forever.  Atif died on a Friday and my birthday was coming up on the following Monday, September 3rd.  I spent most of that weekend surrounded by relatives and friends while helping my mother make funeral arrangements.  The most difficult paper I have ever had to write was the obituary for my little brother.  His life was gone and our lives were changed forever.  There was no way I could have a happy birthday.  I was emotionally unstable and my wonderful girlfriend at the time did her best to comfort me.  She talked to me, she listened to me and she tried to stay by my side.  In the days leading up to the funeral, she and I had an encounter which led to her becoming pregnant with our daughter.  The season was still changing.  I was just learning how to be a father and now I had to adjust to losing my brother while expecting the birth of my second child.  My girlfriend and I became engaged but our relationship ended before my daughter was born.  The season was still changing.  The end of the summer caused heat in my life and as the fall season came, I lost a lot.  The winter of 2007 was very cold and lonely.  Even Christmas seemed pointless to me and I hated my life.  I couldn’t sleep well, I could barely eat, and I became very non-social.  I was extremely depressed, I was hurting, and I made reckless decisions.  I tried to enjoy myself and I even sought sexual comfort.
I thought I was at the end of my rope and I experienced a strange loneliness.  I would feel lonely even when other people were in the room with me.  I wished for death almost everyday for about three years.  I went to work unhappy only to come home to an empty house.  When I would spend time with my children I would experience great joy but the low feelings would come back strong when I was alone.  I thank God for giving me the gifts of children because they bring me joy, they give me purpose, and they are constant reminders of love and hope.  Although I’m at a better place now, some residue and regrets still exist to this day.  Healing is a process.  Along this long road, I’ve encountered some important people and my understanding of God’s love has improved.  Love heals.  When hope feels like a fairy tale, love heals.  When a heart is broken and tears are overflowing, love heals.  When the whole world seems like a big party that you aren’t invited to, love heals.  Love is the most important component of healing.  Why?  Because most of the pain we experience in life comes from the absence of love.  As seasons change, voids from poor love are filled with true love.  Not only on small scales either.  God is love and separation from God means a person has no true source of eternal peace.
I benefited from speaking to counselors and sharing my heart with others.  I learned how to appreciate life and the limited time we have to engage in healthy relationships with people.  Life is so valuable.  Even the moments that seem like a waste of time or tragic seasons have value.  Some wisdom comes from experience.  We learn and mature from our own experiences, mistakes and all.  Those who have experienced things before us and around us offer models that we too can learn from.  We also gain wisdom from God who promises to give it freely to anyone who asks for it.  There are countless examples of people in the Bible that we can gain wisdom from.  It offers testimonies of obedience and disobedience as well as weak and strong faith.  I believe that every person is worthy of love and should have the gift of love expressed to them by others.  Rejection through bullying and abuse are not examples of love.  If anything, it’s an expression of the lack of love being received by the one doing the negative actions.  Ever heard the expression, hurt people hurt people?  It’s natural because sometimes we give what we get.  That’s why it’s important that we give love to everyone we encounter.  I like to compare acts of love to recycling.  Our planet is not in the best condition due to pollution and waste and everyone is affected by it.  When we recycle, we are taking an opportunity to make a difference in even if it’s a small impact.  Many small steps can add up to become tremendous journeys.  If someone else recognizes the small difference, he or she may strive to make a difference too.  Two years ago I began to recycle my trash and weekly I placed my blue recycling bin on the sidewalk.  I noticed that my neighbors gradually began to do the same.  I’m not saying that I started a movement, but I did recognize a pattern of change.  If we purposely love the same way, we will notice a pattern of change in our families, our communities, and most importantly our hearts.
Everyone is at a different season in life right now.  Some of us may be extremely happy while others may be deeply saddened.  Some of us may be in the very middle.  Seasons change and I believe that it’s important to respect everyone and communicate with others about our seasons.  Not bragging nor complaining but rather healthy communication.  That communication should include listening to each other, speaking kind words, forgiving and seeking forgiveness, as well as helping to meet needs when we can.  We also can communicate with God as we pray for others.  These are some ways that we can care and truly love people as we spring forward.
God promises that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and who are called according to His purpose.  That is a very special promise that includes our good and bad experiences.  My hope today is that someone will truly hold on to life and love when it seems impossible to do so.  It may take some time but healing is a process and life is worth living.  No, the journey isn’t always comfortable or fun but we can make it.  Death is the final destination for everyone’s earthly bodies but we don’t need to help death come any faster.  When I was deeply depressed and felt like giving up, a pastor who was mentoring me once told me that he desired that I hold on and enjoy life.  He said he didn’t want me to stay alive and live dead.  He didn’t want me to walk around daily thinking yesterday was the best day.  The rest of our days can be the best of our days as we spring forward!!
You know, an interesting memory came to mind as I was preparing this.  I recall driving to work the morning before my brother died listening to a song called “Seasons”.  It’s a beautiful song by Pastor Alyn Waller from Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church.  As the lyrics played, I remember thinking it’s time for my season to change.  I had no idea how much it would change, but then again no one does.  We have a promise from the Lord that offers hope and helps us during life’s seasons.  This promise can be found in the Bible in the book of John Chapter 16 verse 33.  Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”  No, I cannot guarantee that everything that has worked for me will work for everyone but I can guarantee that He who has worked in me will work in anyone.
Tonight, before setting your clocks, I want everyone to count the many blessings that you have experienced in your lives and consider them as gain before you count the one lost hour of time.  What does that look like practically?  Well, some people have had children at times that seemed inconvenient and have now found their joy comes from being a parent.  Some people have experienced painful breakups only to be reunited at a better time or perhaps they have moved on and learned to love again.  Jobs have been lost and better jobs have been found.  Grandparents have passed away and grandchildren have been born.  Life has many cycles and seasons change.
Our seasons can become heated like summer, things may fall apart like autumn, loneliness gets bitterly cold like winter, but we can spring forward into new life.  Let’s spring forward!!

Luke Campbell’s trainer Shane McGuigan had said a win for his fighter against three-weight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko tonight would be the biggest shock win from a British fighter since Lloyd Honeyghan’s away win over Donald Curry in Atlantic City for the welterweight world title back in 1986.
Lomachenko starts as a 1-14 favourite with Campbell a 10-1 outsider, although Anthony Joshua’s recent heavyweight world title defeat against Andy Ruiz showed that the odds-makers do not always get it right and anything can happen in boxing.

Few are giving Campbell a chance but, so far, ‘Cool Hand’ Luke is living up to his nickname. He’s brushing off the underdog tag and backing himself to come out on top.
And if he does it, then it will go down as one of the most impressive wins in British boxing history…

Byron Reese: This is Voices in AI, brought to you by GigaOm, I’m Byron Reese. Today my guest is Atif Kureishy. He is the Global VP of Emerging Practices, which is AI and deep learning at Think Big, a Teradata company. He holds a BS in Physics and Math from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and an MS in distributive computing from the Johns Hopkins University. Welcome to the show Atif.
Atif Kureishy: Welcome, thank you, appreciate it.
So I always like to start off by just asking you to define artificial intelligence.
Yeah, definitely an important definition, one that unfortunately is overused and stretched in many different ways. Here at Think Big we actually have a very specific definition within the enterprise. But before I give that, for me in particular, when I think of intelligence, that conjures up the ability to understand, the ability to reason, the ability to learn, and we usually equate that to biological systems, or living entities, and now with the rise of probably more appropriate machine intelligence, we’re applying the term ‘artificial’ to it, and the rational is probably because machines aren’t living and they’re not biological systems.
So with that, the way we’ve defined AI in particular is: leveraging machine and deep learning to drive towards a specific business outcome. And it’s about giving leverage for human workers, to enable higher degrees of assistance and higher degrees of automation. And when we define AI in that way, we actually give it three characteristics. Those three characteristics are: the ability to sense and learn, and so that’s being able to understand massive amounts to data and demonstrate continuous learning, and detecting patterns and signals within the noise, if you will. And the second is being able to reason and infer, and that is driving intuition and inference with increasing accuracy again to maximize a business outcome or a business decision. And then ultimately it’s about deciding and acting, so actioning or automating a decision based on everything that’s understood, to drive towards more informed activities that are based on corporate intelligence. So that’s kind of how we view AI in particular.
Well I applaud you for having given it so much thought, and there’s a lot there to unpack. You talked about intelligence being about understanding and reasoning and learning, and that was even in your three areas. Do you believe machines can reason?
You know, over time, we’re going to start to apply algorithms and specific models to the concept of reasoning, and so the ability to understand, the ability to learn, are things that we’re going to express in mathematical terms no doubt. Does it give it human lifelike characteristics? That’s still something to be determined.
Well I don’t mean to be difficult with the definition because, as you point out, most people aren’t particularly rigorous when it comes to it. But if it’s to drive an outcome, take a cat food dish that refills itself when it’s low, it can sense, it can reason that it should put more food in, and then it can act and release a mechanism that refills the food dish, is that AI, in your understanding, and if not why isn’t that AI?
Yeah, I mean I think in some sense it checks a lot of the boxes, but the reality is, being able to adapt and understand what’s occurring, for instance if that cat is coming out during certain times of the day ensuring that meals are prepared in the right way and that they don’t sit out and become stale or become spoiled in any way, and that is signs of a more intelligent type of capability that is learning the behaviors and anticipating how best to respond given a specific outcome it’s driving towards.
Got you. So now, to take that definition, your company is Think Big. What do you think big about? What is Think Big and what do you do?
So looking back in history a little bit, Think Big was actually an acquisition that Teradata had done several years ago, in the big data space, and particularly around open source and consulting. And over time, Teradata had made several acquisitions and now we’ve unified all of those various acquisitions into a unified group, called Think Big Analytics. And so what we’re particularly focused on is how do we drive business outcomes using advanced analytics and data science. And we do that through a blend of approaches and techniques and technology frankly.

Skitten snø review
repost becuse tumblr hates me
So I was going to wait until I had my computer but I’m on the train and bored af so here it goes. (Actually I’m not on the train anymore but since I was on my phone I could not get the “keep reading” thing to work and I hate having to scroll through long, irrelavant posts so I had to add it. I did write it on the train though.)
Trigger warnings: rape and sexual assault, mental abuse, stalking and manipulation. And of course there will be spoilers :)
Overall I enjoyed watching skitten snø. It is most definitely a thriller which is not my favourite genre normally. But this had be waiting rather eagerly for the next episodes and I wanted to watch them as soon as I woke up. It was easy for me to root for the main character and my favourite thing was the friendships between the four girls.
As for Tarjei’s character, I think they gave him enough characteristics to not just become a super stereotypical villian. One the other hand Nicolas is your typical villian. Like he has many of those stereotypical traits, yet, like I said I still feel like he was a bit more well rounded. But most likely with psychopathic tendencies, which I guess would explain his charm and charisma he shows for three minutes.
The assault scene in the first episode is very graphic and I definitely see the point of people that have said that it is not necessary for it to be this graphic. It was horrible to watch and made me feel sick. I can imagine it being triggering for people. Personally I struggled more with the aftermath in episode 2. Either way I think episode 1 and 2 are definitely the heaviest but they are also very well acted. But I’ll save the acting part for later.
The storytelling is very basic and to the point but not necessarily in a bad way. It works for this kind of story but I’ve become used to very pretty cinematography with all the shows I’ve watched lately. In that sense skitten snø is not very revolutionary but like I’ve just said it doesn’t really need to and the focus is on Sumera’s story, how she copes with her trauma, how she gets support from her friends, but feels like she can’t trust the authorities or even the grown ups in her life. It really is a theme that I myself can relate to even if I’ve not been in her exact situation. The thriller aspect of it also works without extravagant camera work or music. But I have to agree that the music/sound editing is not the best. But again I have been so spoiled recently. I just don’t think skitten snø is made to be “pretty” if that makes sense. With that said there could have been so more refined scenes.
Thinking back to it I think I enjoyed the first part of the show slightly more than the second. In other words, episode 1-4 vs 5-8. Over all it was a great little series but I personally think that 1-4 showed less of the thriller clinches that I’m not super thrilled about. I could have done without the whole chase in Nicolas apartment complex for example. Even if those scenes were intense to say the least they did follow that typical pattern of suspense scenes and you could predict the outcome a bit.
With that said there were a few twists I did enjoy and didn’t see coming. From the beginning I knew there were something going in with Charlotte and Nicolas. You didn’t have to be sherlock Holmes to figure that out but I did not expect them to have a baby together. I kind of liked that though. And it can’t be a coincidence that the baby was named Isak? Right? Right? It gave us the best gifs of Tarjei holding a baby though. I mean how can you not love that? On a serious not it gave another side to Nicolas and made Charlotte’s role much more difficult because she had her son to think about and also her own scars and fears. I felt so bad for her when she finally told her story to Sumera. Speaking of “twists” there was one I didn’t enjoy at all and it has to do with Nida.
I liked the parallels between Nida and Sumera and how Nida was also raped but that she was slut shamed, and victim blamed which lead to her suicide. It seems like an important story to tell and one of my favourite scenes and lines from the entire series is when Sumera tells her friends about Nida and they tell her that it won’t happen to her because she is not alone. What I didn’t like was the twist that Nicolas was also Nida’s rapist. I don’t know I just didn’t like that. I feel like it was enough that both Charlotte and Sumera had been victims of Nicolas and I would rather have Nida’s story to be seperate from that. It would have been just as meaningful without it in my opinion.
In contrast I absolutely loved episode 3 and 4 and Sumeras friends being there for her, providing her the support she needs and encouraging her to go to the police. I also really appreciate the show’s portrayal of Sumera’s struggles with self blame, shame and fear of what will happen if people find out. Especially the parallels to the girls’ old friend Nida. I’m not going to pretend that I know anything about the Pakistani culture or how it is to be a girl born in Norway to immigrant parentqs but for me that was one of the strongest parts of the whole story. My heart breaks for Anila and what she had to sacrifice in order to help Sumera. Again it feels like an important story to tell and the contrast between Sumera’s family and Anila’s is striking.
As for the final episode and the end it felt very abrupt and I was left with so many questions. They could easily have made 2 more episodes focusing on the aftermath. I would have been a lot more satisfied with s more fleshed out ending. As it is now you have this very intense climax and then the show kindof ends without offering any explanations. Maybe they are interested in making a season 2 but I find it unlikely to be honest.
As for the characters I really like Sumera, the protagonist and her friends including Charlotte. I think they had a good chemistry together and it felt like a very good and warm friendship, especially between Anila, Ambar and Sumera. We got a bit more insight to Anila’s life compared to Ambar and I loved that we got to see her home life. I wished we had gotten more about Ambar though. We got backstories for Charlotte and a glimpse of Anila’s life and Sumera is obviously the main. But Ambar is not as fleshed out. She is not bad or anything. She proves that she is a great friend to Sumera. She is not just funny or quirky. She gives good advice, comforts her friend, and really is there for Sumera. With a few more episodes maybe we could have seen more of her life?
Nicolas was a good villian. Very evil but with some dimensions as I’ve said before.
As for the side characters I love Atif, Sumera’s brother. I liked their relationship and it felt pretty authentic. I also liked Sumera’s parents even they were not that present.
Wasim (oh and Anila’s dad) was probably one of the few characters I really dislike. Maybe that is also a reason why I didn’t like Nida being one of Nicola’s victims because this meant that Wasim became directly involved with this storyline and I prefered him hanging around in the background not doing alot. Unfortunately I don’t think the actor was that great which most likely contributed to my dislike for the character. I would have prefered only Atif helping them out. Now Wasim became the wounded hero that got reunited with the girl at the end. Could have done without that too.
Acting: I think the acting is okay for the most part but I can see why people think it is on the weaker side sometimes. I do think the girl playing Sumera, Kamaalpret, is holding her own and there are a few scenes especially in the first few episodes where she is really good.
The other actors do vary in their delivery but I think it works. The girls dynamics work well and their friendship feels genuine enough. But the acting over all is far from what I’ve become used to. I’m picky as fuck.
Tarjei: There’s no way around this but Tarjei is by far the strongest actor in all the scenes he is in. He does the role of Nicolas so well. And he’s on a completely different level than the rest of the cast. Granted he has more experience but we also now he is just that talented. He gives life to Nicolas and some of the scenes has made me feel almost sick. I’ve also spent a lot of time listening to his voice only when timing subs and let me tell you he is not only good at micro expressions. His voice goes from pure evil to threatening to desperate to fear full etc. I could go on about this but he keeps doing distinctive changes with little nuances depending on the characters mode. While I think Isak is a more complex role to play and hence his best role yet I have to say that this is definitely his second best by far. I can’t put words into it even. He is amazing. Period.
Let’s make a top 5 scenes of Tarjei as Nicolas in no particular order.
1: the opening scene to episode 2. “You are allowed to move” that line. But he is amazing the whole scene.
2: the confrontation scene in episode 4 I think. Where Sumera gives Nicolas the money. Again he does a really good job with playing an evil, manipulative psychopath. “We are done when I say we are done”
3: Nicolas attacking Atif and Wasim in the forest. Omg. When he screams “Down”. The desperation and loss of control is very haunting and you can tell that Nicolas really has no boundaries. He is almost like an animal in that scene. You feel terrified of him.
4: His very final scene. The noises he makes when he is about to fall. Again he sounds like a desperate animal. He is scared and absolutely terrified. Tarjei really is an actor with no fears or inhibitions.
5: the scene with Sumera, her mother and Nicolas in the kitchen. To Sumera’s mother Nicolas is just a polite, handsome guy trying to help but all his interactions with Sumera are so manipulative and threatening but in a very subtle way compared to their other interactions. He’s in control and he knows he can get what he wants from her.
I could honestly have picked many other scenes and on a rewatch I’d probably go “oh this is definitely a in the top five” with every other scene.
Tarjei truly is one of the most talented actors I’ve seen. Ever. Ever. Ever. He has such a wide range and he’s not scared to challenge himself. In combination with his raw talent and his ever growing experience there are no doubts in my mind that he will only do more and more impressive roles.
To sum it up, skitten snø is worth a watch in my opinion. It’s not the best series I’ve ever seen but certainly not bad. It is entertaining but still carries a good message. The friendship of the girls is the highlight of the show. My wish would have been more episodes. At least 2 but maybe even 4. Just to develop the story a bit more and have more time with each character (not you wasim). I imagine one episode more in the beginning, one in the middle and then two more to finish off the series.
If it wasn’t for Tarjei I’d never watched it in the first place but if someone sat me down and forced me to watch the firat two episodes I’d still want to continue even without him. He is their strongest actor by far and he certainly is a good asset but he doesn’t carry the series. The girls really are the most important characters and again their relationship is my favourite thing. I’d still root for them with a different actor playing Nicolas and I’d still watch with anticipation and enjoy it because of the girls.
Overall I’d probably give it a 3.5 rating out of 5. Tarjei gets 5 out of 5 though.
What did you think? I’d love to hear your opinions.

Few thoughts on the so-called on past week’s IB track:
(A sort of disclaimer) In a country where the top court acquitted the accused because a/c to the judges, the ‘victim did not struggle enough’ and ‘raise an alarm’ (Mathura rape case, 1979), speaking up about sexual harassment is nearly impossible. Representing this issue in popular fiction is thus, a huge challenge. What a survivor is going through, what are the repercussions/consequences of speaking up, etc is too difficult to portray in fiction.
One recent film which revolved somewhat around this issue was Pink. I really liked that film, ‘cos as a Delhite, that movie, at least in some parts, was quite relatable. The movie starts out with 3 girls emerging out of a horrific scenario one night, and deciding to forget about that night. The fact that these were three independent, strong-willed, ‘urban’ girls who chose to suppress the incident, instead of reporting it; made it believable.  Because the question is: who is going to believe them? The immediate reaction of girls was that we’ve escaped, so lets try to put the night behind us. Its only when the perpetrators do not let the girls forget, and actually threaten/intimidate them to apologize for protecting themselves, that the girls are forced to take action.
Coming back to subject here, portraying this issue with sensitivity is not something one can expect from Indian daily soaps. Upar se if its Ishqbaaaz to toh aur sone pe suhaga. I mean, Gul begum thinks that by making her heroines wear jeans she is presenting a ‘modern’ and ‘progressive’ female lead on television, so suffice to say that this woman has the least credibility in Tellywood to portray an issue as sensitive as MeToo. But madam ko shauk chadhta toh kya kar sakte hai.
Bringing it back to the plane of IB, I don’t get it that why do the CVs choose Gauri as the poster girl for their so-called “empowering” tracks? Be it the 2rs version of English Vinglish, and now this.
The problem is that Gauri is an unreal character. I dunno what Gauri was supposed to be, but a/c to me Shrenu and Atif had significant leeway/freedom to portray Gauri the way they wanted to. Because everyone watching DBO was aware that they are watching the ‘Gauri Kumari Ssarma’ show. DBO is probs the only Gul show, where the OTP or the AYM male lead is not the highlight of the show. Gauri was the ‘hero’ of the show, and I’m consciously using the term ‘hero’ here because she got to do everything that the ‘heroes’ in Tellywood do. Gauri had almost become like this Batman-sort of character who is a fighter, she makes mistakes, falls down, but always gets up and defeats the villains at the end.  It was almost as if Gauri was not allowed to accept defeat or fail.
To then make this Gauri, the subject of such “empowering” tracks, the CVs have to significantly change her character sketch and introduce artificial insecurities or other traits which do not set in well with her original character sketch.
Despite my misgivings, I gave in and watched a few parts of this track, because my friends really praised it. I didn’t mind the Tuesday and Wednesday bits where Gauri is assaulted. The direction was off though, and it looked like some bits were cut because they overlapped weirdly. If Atif or LM had been directing the scene, it would’ve probably looked better, but then it would have been too scary for me to watch.
My issue started with the Thursday episode (or whatever I saw of it). The fact that Gauri decided to keep quiet about the incident was not OOC, because DBO starts on the point that the whole village chooses to believe Kali Thakur instead of Gauri who they’ve seen grow up in front of their eyes. Omkara, the objective outsider in this plot, also chooses to believe the worst of Gauri. No one listened to or believed Gauri that time, and can well explain why she would think that no one will ever believe her.
What annoyed me a lot, was that Gauri decides to let the perpetrator go scot free. Because this undos all the development in Bareilly track 2. [A short break here, I’ve seen a lot of fans comment that Kali Thakur did not actually molest Gauri unlike the superstar, and I feel people totally missed the danger KT presented. KT wanted to make Gauri his sex slave for life (and for his brothers too). I’m not comparing KT and the superstar, but it irks me that people really underestimate KT’s villainy]. Anyways, so by the end of Bareilly track 2 Gauri is not scared of KT anymore. Yes, she wants to escape him, but this time its a do or die situation for her. Because Gauri understood that as long as KT’s alive she (and her mother) would always be in danger, she cannot run from him forever. Which is why Gauri stabs him to death. IMO I think Gauri fully intended to close KT’s chapter there, because she looked like an avenging angel in that scene, it was not the fear she present in the first Bareilly track.
For that Gauri, to now let the superstar go unpunished is out of character. Gauri would not speak up about the incident but she would let the matter rest. DBO Gauri would find some way to expose the creep for what he is, and in this case, take help from Anika and Bhavya, because it would be too much for her to face him so soon after the incident.
For the sake of the track, the CVs had to significantly alter Gauri’s character sketch (like they did in the English track) to ‘fit’ the popular perception of a survivor of sexual harassment as portrayed in television and movies. Here I feel, Shrenu had to make a performance choice. There are moments were the real Gauri slips in the scenes for example a particular teeth gnashing and eyebrow frown expression which is peculiar Gauri expression, I really can’t explain it properly but there it is, and one sees that when Gauri traps the superstar in a carpet and escapes.
Also, there was this particular dialogue which a lot of people had interpreted as “victim blaming herself” but I don’t think it was that. Victim blaming would have been if Gauri had said that its her fault that she is the fan of such a person or she was foolish to ask for a selfie. But what Gauri said that she should have been smart enough to smell him out, because, obviously Gauri being more intelligent than most should be the first one to smell a rat.
If I analyze the track ignoring this character issue, there are still some false notes. No doubt Shrenu acted well (when does she not?) but the entire track seemed hollow. We have all the “checklist scenes”: the villain pulls the dori, tears the sleeve, the survivor screaming in half-darkness, trying to wash off the incident under the shower, sitting in darkness in the ‘typical’ pose depicted in posters, etc, but it was a conscious attempt to ape such tracks from movies than to come up with something original. The one shot that i did like was Gauri’s handprints on the painting of the woman, when she was struggling. That was symbolism done right, and it was organic.
What really ruined the track for me was the whole sting operation bit. The idea behind MeToo is to have the victims speak up and find support in each other. If they had to go with the sting operation bit, then why not have Gauri devise a plan to expose the devil like she exposed Buamaa? The CVs altered her character sketch for the sake of the track only to have Shivika do what Gauri would herself have done in DBO.
The only reason for the sting operation bit was to take close up camera shots of Surbhi. Surbhi is a stunning woman offscreen but I hate it when writers almost abuse the actor’s physical charm just because the actor possesses it. For example, how the makers of Jodha Akbar showed Akbar practicing sword fighting half-naked on the terrace of the palace, only because Hrithik Roshan has amazing abs. Like it was sooooo unbelievable that Akbar, the Mughal Emperor, would be training like this in the open unprotected, that too shirtless. This smacks of lack of integrity in the writers.
After that the whole track lost meaning. And then we have the obligatory ‘everyone praising Shivika’ and Shivaay giving a lecture at the end, effectively murdering the entire set up for the track, which was precarious in the first place. So, this ‘track’ might have checked a lot of boxes, but at the end of the day it just came across as tokenism, for me.
