The whole 'fully developed brain at twenty-five' thing being repeated without critical thought is just evidence as to why you shouldn't take pop neuroscience too seriously, and indeed need some degree of scientific literacy to understand publications about said neuroscience which sometimes genuinely outputs bullshit (see also: replicability crisis and publishing crisis in general pushing out what is essentially shovelware).

But like, that's not really fair, and it's not fair that clickbait headlines motivate so much discourse. What is more hyperpalatable, what ensnares your attention for longer. It's much better to ask 'who is getting something out of this?', even for things which fit neatly into your beliefs, lol.

Most of all it's just annoying because I think we can all agree adulthood begins before you reach twenty-five. We know this. It would be dangerous to give the wrong people license to dispute otherwise, because adulthood is when you become empowered. Lol
