i've wanted a plush of Babbit since i first watched Kodocha when i was 12, and it only occurred to me recently that i should just make one of him... so i did! and i made a tutorial (and released the sewing pattern) in case anyone else wants to make a Babbit plush too ;w;

Also a little bit of thinking abt how Kinito and the Player Who Stays (the Stayer???) share a lot of parallels (working hard to deserve nice things, crippling loneliness, selfish reasons for clinging to one another, self awareness, dissatisfaction/disappointment with their respective realities leading to them idealizing the concept of each other, etc etc)

@prawnprank and I kinda thought what if the asylum guards and some patients were teachers (don't ask, we're studying to be teachers ourselves so it's kind of a guilty pleasure for us )

and we've made up a silly goofy shitpost AU about an average Russian school, ✨МБОУ СОШ✨, so to speak

so uhhh yeah look at these silly scrunkly scrimblos

Blase teaches Geometry (he sees shapes where people wouldn't even notice them😋), in the morning he likes to drink lots of tea and deeply regrets it later on

and Stiesel teaches Social Studies (idk we think it just suits him best out of all subjects)

and their surnames are the funniest puns there are (we've spent the whole evening laughing trying to assign roles to everyone and giving them funny russian names — props to @prawnprank, she's responsible for most of them)

and yes usually Maths teachers teach both Algebra and Geometry, and both History and Social Studies are also usually taught by the same person BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO we are in another city🤪😛

Yancy At The End Of The World: Who Is The Titular Character?

Hey everyone, it’s the first character post for Yancy At The End Of The World!  I’ll be releasing one of these per day until the deadline for the Interactive Fiction Competition is here on the 28th.  You’ll get to play Yancy At The End Of The World! in IF Comp on September 1st!

So, who is the titular character, Yancy?  Well, he’s a lot of things.  Aroace (aromantic & asexual), agender, undiagnosed autistic, neurodivergent as hell, and a victim of verbal & emotional abuse from his mother.  His mom is a huge influence on him, and it’s thanks to her that he never pursued his dream of photography, because he always told him he’s a very straightforward person.  That’s why he has the job he has, lives the way he lives.  And when the zombie apocalypse comes, and the end of the world seems near, he has a lot of regrets about the things he didn’t do.

Yancy was designed by critterboxd and is voiced by Hatty.  Finding the perfect voice for Yancy was quite an event—over a hundred people auditioned for the part, which was crazy!  When Hatty’s audition came in, I immediately put it on my shortlist—there was a passionate warmth to the audition that really made it stand out, and there was this understated emotion in the way the lines were delivered.

As it came time to figure out who Yancy was, I found myself gravitating towards masc & androgynous voices.  Hatty was an obvious choice, especially because of the quality of their audition, and it helped that they have quite a few aspects that are similar to Yancy, too.  So I offered them the part, and they said yes!

And we can’t forget Yancy’s loyal pet: Babbit, designed by Rezzclown and voiced by Nicky Benoit!  I actually ended up bringing Nicky on board later in the process, so here’s a little story about that:

When I put out my initial tweet asking for aro(/)ace VAs, Nicky was one of the first people to respond!  I made sure to give him the audition document when I ended up making it, but I never received an audition from him.  I was a little bummed out by that.

Fast-forward to after I’ve brought on the cast, and I’m scrolling my Twitter timeline (I’m not calling it X, bite me lmao).  I happen to see that Nicky does creature voices, and immediately DM him to see if he wants to do the voices for Babbit.  He said yes, and here we are!

Because of the insane number of people who auditioned for the part of Yancy, I ended up deciding to broaden the cast quite a bit, and bring more people on board.  I can’t wait to talk about them & the characters they voice in future posts!  Look forward to it!
