Some memories from the phenomenal Scotland trip we went on last year, which we began travelling to a year ago tomorrow. I don't know where that year has gone! What a fantastic and wild time it was. The photos in this set are a mixture of some I still hadn't got around to processing and did so this evening and some key ones from the trip that I processed at the time, each bringing back fond memories. The photos are of; Corn Bunting at Banff in Aberdeenshire, view at Findhorn Bay and Long-tailed Duck at Burghead Harbour one of the birds of the trip both in Moray, another of the star species of the trip and one of the main ones we wanted to see Otter at Dervaig on Mull, a view on the Aberdeenshire coast, Lapwing at Lochindorb, Black Guillemot on Loch Eil and view on Mull.
we’re not even mutuals and feel free to not post this, but i hope your friend’s memory can be a blessing for you. sending nothing but love
I'll post it, as I appreciate the message anon. Anna was one of the most down to earth people I met during a time in my life where I was pretty lonely. I'll always remember immediately feeling like she wasn't keeping any secrets or being cliquey, she was who she was: blunt, funny and super patient with slower hikers (big bonus considering she was a ultrarunner)
The Cave of Cave and Basin National Historic Site, source for the hot springs of Banff. This pool, a traditional medicinal bathing site for the Nakoda people, was exploited and advertised with the coming of the railway, that little trickle of warm water becoming the catalyst for Canada’s modern national park system and for the town that now stands as its most famous tourist site.
when i visited banff last year i went to a natural cave and hot spring thing and saw some endangered endemic snails. and then i walked way up the mountain to see more of the hot spring and unique biome. at one point i looked over the side of the boardwalk trail and sitting in the warm mineral water was a gigantic fuckin frog
Far off Mountains to Take in Banff National Park by Mark Stevens

A view at Banff Upper Hot Springs looking general north across Cascade Mountain to Spectral Peak. I'd seen a view similar to this on a Flickr site (www.flickr.com/photos/empty_quarter/14370499778/in/pool-a...). While not quite the same view given the location on top of Sulphur Mountain, I loved the view he captured in that image with a valley to look across and some far off mountains there in Alberta.
Banff National Park was established on 25 November 1885 as Banff Hot Springs Reserve, in response to conflicting claims over who discovered hot springs there, and who had the right to develop the hot springs for commercial interests.
