9 + 16 for the fic asks, if you are still doing that!
I'm always taking asks! :D
9. Do you write every day? If you wrote today, share a sentence of what you’ve written!
I do, generally! Even if its just a few lines, I usually get something on paper most days/basically every day.
As always, I will share more than a sentence ;)
At night, Shardlake dreams of a well—dead dogs, cats, horses, people clutter it up until it overflows. A spring bursting with filth and from the heavens comes a deluge. Torrential. The rain is often on fire. Cromwell’s head on a pike speaks to him: I, too, had faith. Sometimes a man is punished for trusting too much. After such dreams, Shardlake wakes tangled in sheets. He goes to his garden in bedclothes and a robe to sit under a tree. He cries, sometimes. Or gets near enough to shedding tears he is tired so of being hunted and hounded and dogged by this fearful uncertainty in what should be certain. The mornings after these nights always brings Barak asking: ‘What ails you?’ And it always has Shardlake answering: ‘I miss Chancery, that is all.’ And Barak will always start with a mocking: ‘He’s been dead these past four years. Genesis will think you do not care for him. Anyway, he was just a horse.’ Then he will understand that it is Shardlake’s shorthand for: ‘What isn’t there to miss? Write me a list, Barak, of what has been lost over the past forty-something years of my life and it will take you some time, I’m sure.’ Self-pity bordering on melancholy. Beat it out with work and prayer. Ora et labora &c. Only, perhaps not so papist as what ora et labora implies.
16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?
Oh god, they come to me when they come to me. Sometimes it's the very end, when I'm ready to publish/share/shop around/stick up on AO3. Sometimes it's in the middle of writing. Sometimes I go in with a title. Some examples:
What Makes a King - I went in knowing that the work would be titled thus.
House of No Return - my agent was the one who suggested it. I had it titled The Venetians (because none of the main characters are, in fact, Venetian. It's funny! But she's right, HONR is a much better title)
Feast Day of San Giovanni - came up with it the day I put it up on AO3
Pale Before the Fall - came to me in the middle of writing it, my agent liked it so we kept it
So on and so forth!
---
Thank you for the ask!! <3 <3 <3

Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound: The Truth Characteristics, Origin, Temperament
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound, commonly known as the Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic or the Barak, is a Bosnian hunting breed.
It is employed to hunt huge animals due to its shaggy coat and development as a scent hound. If you're seeking for something different and aren't scared to look outside of the United States, it might be worth your time.
The Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound, also known as the Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic or the Barak, is a Bosnian hunting breed.
Origin
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound was once known as the Illyrian Hound, after the area's pre-Slavic natives. The modern breed was developed in the 1890s through the crossbreeding of Italian gundogs and various native dog breeds.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound was bred to be significantly smaller than other scent hounds of the time while still being an effective scent hound. Because of this, it is likely that the Istrian Shorthaired Hound played a part in its evolution.
The Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound, also known as the Barak by the UKC, was first recognized by the FCI in 1965 under the name "Illyrian Hound." Because the AKC has yet to recognize it, it remains an uncommon breed and a one-of-a-kind family pet.
Tumblr media
Pedigree
When different indigenous dog breeds and Italian gundogs interbred in the 1890s, the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound was born.
Food/Diet
Because the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a medium- to large-sized breed, it should be fed a premium dry food designed for adult dogs. He would fare better on an active or working breed formula, considering that the breed is primarily employed as a working breed, as long as you avoid overfeeding to avoid obesity.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a trainable breed due to his hunting ancestry.
Training
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a flexible and trainable breed that was bred especially for hunting. Because of their high level of energy and passion for their jobs, training and exercise should be incorporated.
Because the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound can work hard for long periods of time in rough terrain, a short daily stroll will not suffice to meet his exercise requirements. When these dogs do not get enough exercise, they are more likely to develop undesirable behaviors such as excessive barking and destructiveness.
Weight
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a medium- to large-sized dog that matures at 35 to 55 pounds and 18 to 22 inches in height.
Temperament/Behavior
Outside of Bosnia, where it is most commonly used as a working breed, the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is still a rather unique breed. As a result, nothing is known about the breed's behavior in the home.
Bosnian Coarse Haired Hounds are often a pleasant and amiable breed that gets along with youngsters and can be raised with smaller animals such as cats on occasion. Because the breed is so dedicated to its job and its owner, it takes a lot of training and socialization to get along with strangers and other dogs.
The breed is noisier and more vocal than other breeds, thus while these characteristics can be minimized through training, they are rarely completely erased.
Common Health Issues
Although there isn't much information on the health of the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound, the breed is usually in good health. Some issues, however, are shared by all canine species. Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy, patellar luxation, and entropion have all been linked to this breed.
expected life span
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound has an estimated lifetime of 12 to 15 years, which is approximately average for a breed of its size.
recommendations for physical activity
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound, as a hunting breed, has high exercise requirements; simply one daily walk is insufficient for this species. Because these dogs were raised to labor for long periods of time on rough terrain, they have a strong work ethic and excellent endurance. Because they require at least 45 minutes of rigorous activity per day, this breed will benefit from having a fenced-in yard to run around in.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Houndis a friendly and affectionate breed.
AKC
The FCI and UKC currently recognize the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound, but not the AKC. The FCI and UKC classify him as a Group 6 Scenthound.
Coat
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound has a medium-length coarse coat, as implied by the breed name. The coat of the breed is double, with a long, tousled-looking outer coat and a short, dense undercoat. He has heavy brows, a short but noticeable mustache and beard, and part of the hair on his face has grown longer. A solid coat, a solid with white markings, or a tricolor coat employing varying hues of wheaten yellow, earthy grey, reddish yellow, or black are the most popular varieties.
Puppies
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound breed typically produces three to seven puppies per litter. Because this breed matures at over 50 pounds, puppies must be fed a large-breed puppy formula. You can transition to a large-breed adult formula once they have reached 80% of their estimated maximum growth. You should also begin socializing and training your puppy as soon as possible.

Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound: The Truth Characteristics, Origin, Temperament
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a hunting breed that was made in Bosnia. It is also called the Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic or the Barak.
It is used to hunt big animals because it has a shaggy coat and was trained as a scent dog. If you want to find something different and don't mind going outside the U.S., might be worth your time.
The Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound is a hunting breed that was created in Bosnia. It is also called the Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic or the Barak.
Where it came from
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound used to be called the Illyrian Hound. This name came from the pre-Slavic people who lived in the area. In the 1890s, Italian gundogs and other local dog breeds were bred together to make the breed we know today.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound was made to be a bit smaller than other hounds of the time, but it was still bred to be a good nose. Because of this, it's possible that the Istrian Shorthaired Hound had something to do with its development.
The Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound, also called the Barak by the UKC, was first recognized by the FCI in 1965 under the name "Illyrian Hound." It is still a rare breed and a unique family pet because the AKC has not yet accepted it.

Family tree
In the 1890s, different local dog types and Italian gundogs were crossed to make the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound.
What to eat
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a medium to large breed, so it should be given a high-quality dry food for adult dogs. He would do better on an active or working breed food, though, since this breed is mostly used for work. Just be careful not to overfeed him to keep him from getting fat.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is usually easy to train because he was bred to hunt.
Getting ready
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound was mostly bred to hunt, so it is often a flexible and easy-to-train breed. They have a lot of energy and love for their jobs, so training and exercise should be a part of their work.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound can work hard for long amounts of time in rough terrain, so a short walk every day won't give him enough exercise. When these dogs don't get enough exercise, they are more likely to develop bad habits like barking too much and being harmful.
How much
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a medium to large-sized dog that weighs 35 to 55 pounds and stands 18 to 22 inches tall when it's full grown.
Character and behavior
Outside of Bosnia, where it is most often used as a working dog, the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is still a very rare breed. Because of this, no one knows anything about how the breed acts at home.
Bosnian Coarse Haired Hounds are usually nice and loving dogs that get along well with kids and can sometimes be raised with cats and other small animals. Because the breed is so loyal to its job and its owner, it needs a lot of training and socialization to get along with people and sometimes other dogs.
The breed tends to be louder and more talkative than other dogs. These traits can be lessened through training, but they won't usually go away completely.
Typical Health Problems
Even though not much is known about the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound's health, the breed is usually in good shape. But some problems are the same for all dog breeds. Several health problems, like hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, cataracts, gradual retinal atrophy, patellar luxation, and entropion, have been linked to this breed.
the expected length of life
Estimates say that the normal life span of a Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is between 12 and 15 years, which is about average for a breed of its size.
how to do something
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound needs a lot of movement because it is a hunting breed. A daily walk is not enough for this species. These dogs were raised to work for long hours on hard ground, so they have a strong work ethic and can keep going for a long time. This breed would benefit from having a fenced-in yard to run around in because they need at least 45 minutes of vigorous exercise every day.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a friendly breed that loves people.
AKC
The FCI and the UKC both accept the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound, but the AKC does not. The FCI and the UKC both put him in Group 6 for Scenthounds.
Coat
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound has a medium-length, coarse hair, which is clear from its name. The breed has a double coat with a long, tangled-looking top coat and a short, thick undercoat. He has thick eyebrows, a short but noticeable mustache and beard, and some of his facial hair has gotten longer. The most common versions are a solid coat, a solid coat with white markings, or a tricolor coat with different shades of wheaten yellow, earthy grey, reddish yellow, or black.
Dog puppies
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound usually has between three and seven pups in a litter. This breed grows up to be over 50 pounds, so the dogs need to be fed a formula for large-breed puppies. Once they have grown 80% of how much they are supposed to grow, you can switch to an adult formula for large breeds. You should also start to socialize and train your dog as soon as you can.

Goosher is a Barak hound x and starting to take over the place to be honest. He wasn’t impressed with me blocking his way through the door or telling him what to do in general and gave me a couple of nips to tell me this! When dogs have a bit of an attitude they need more boundaries indoors. Dogs spend most of their time indoors with us so what they’re learning the majority of the time is how you are together inside. More obedience training, getting off sofas and not charging out the door! #aggressivedog #barakhound #stopdpgbarking (at Kent, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYl_2JxKmJl/?utm_medium=tumblr

The lurea are a militant people who value personal power in high regard. They consider themselves the masters of warfare in the world, and to their credit there is no nation they have met who can refute the claim. The lurea value a sense of community and merit to be the path to power in the society, a philosophy known as ‘Do right by’ has lead to a strong sense of community among them. They place the society as a whole as the highest priority, followed by duty to one's personal community, under that is duty to one's comrades, under that is duty to one's family and finally duty to oneself. But to achieve the greatest results one must do right by themselves to do right by there family and up the chain the belief carries.
The lurea are often seen as primitive, still relying on use of spears, swords and armor fashioned out of the hides of animals and trees of their legendary man eater forest, long after other civilizations have moved onto industry, firearms and even advanced sciences. The lurea begin their training as a soldier to the armada at the age of 7 until they are 16 when they take their rites of adulthood. Given a brief meeting with their gods and a taste of their promised heaven Lyren. Those who survive the trials are made full members of society with the right to vote, have their voice heard in court, find a mate, and serve in the military.
Military service is mandatory in the lurean society with a few rare exceptions. Even the lowest political office in lurean society demands 10 years of service to the Armada. Lurea have many paths in life open to them both in militant training and domestic life outside of the war machine. Every citizen of the lurean people is a soldier ready to lay down their life and fight on the shield wall, but many do pursue lives as artisans, storytellers, bakers and more when not pledging to never let the blood dry upon their blades.
The lurean people have a strong connection to their various gods and are said to all descend from the head goddess Aniu, though ‘generations vary.’ The lurea have very little care about a member’s gender, sexuality or personal beliefs as long as you hold the tenets of society closely and will defend it with your last breath.
The society does have many strict tenets enforced by the members who make up the community, those who do not wish to live by the rules of society are free to leave it, but doing so is a final farewell for they do not accept back those who choose to leave their society.
A few examples of unique lurean tenets
Rule of two-A lurea will play parent to two children. This tenet focuses on the community, with a strict war militant belief each member is expected to help raise there own replacement to the society, raising or having children beyond this is optional.
On behalf of- this is a rule in society where a dowry can be presented to another lurea to take on a task on behalf of them. This can be used on almost anything.
Birth rite-Due to the life of a lurea, the birth rite plays a unique role. Mates may seek to have children with specific traits and pay a dowry to a male or female to sire or bear a child for them. This is commonly used by same sex couples or woman who do not wish to bear their own children to still follow the rule of two.
Do right by-A belief of what is most important in a simple break down to the society and what one must work on.
Right of glory- All lurea have a right to glory in combat. When a war campaign is called, all lurea are allowed to volunteer as long as they are fit for war. If there are too many volunteers a lottery is held to see who will be taken. Career soldiers and certain specialist groups are always given the right to join but everyone will have their chance.
Honorable combat- If two have an argument that cannot be settled, the two will have the right to a fair and honorable duel to determine who is correct in the argument. These may also be called if your honor has been stained by another. These are rarely to the death but often come close. By pack-The belief that whom raises you and your comrades are more important then a connection of blood. this tenet also comes with the thought any race can be lurea as long as they except the beliefs of the society truly.
The lurea also shepard a series of unique animals, some key animals being:
Lurean war wolf
Mage hunter hounds
Woarg
Riding spiders
Layline hawks
A sacred animal of the lurea:Byrons
The lurea are famous for their arms and armor made from the parts of animals they hunt in their forests. Though some items are passed down through the family, much of a lurea gear is crafted based on the militant profession they specialized in and the animals hunted at the rite of adulthood. A standard lurean kit though consists of.
Spear, Shield, War armor, Casual armor, casual cloth, javelins, short sword.
Gear is further specialized based on training paths. Art by @jonfawkes Edited by Sixkiller5

Lurean specialty groups and cuisine
Bonegnawers- Ferocious warriors dedicated to the god Barak. The Bonegnawers in their off time are often painters, artisans and philosophers enjoying mead and passing the days by. In battle the Bonegnawer is among the most destructive and hardy warriors. The Bonegnawer studies the art of rage and zen. this leads them to unlock what's known as furies and stances. These have dramatic effects on the gnawers from growing bark to protect them, causing lightning to arc off there bodies or even cackle madly enough to mess with the perception of reality to those around them.
Ashen guard- The ashen guards are devoted to the great goddess Sylvana, the guard represent the fallen seasons. Some other cultures like to refer to them as black guard, dread knights and other monikers. the ashen guard are the final defenders of the most sacred groves of the forest's and will defend them vigorously. They are imbued with poison, self healing armor and plant like properties to become one with the forest and there sacred goddess.
Chaos weavers- Chaos weavers are very understood devotes of Laviticus. The weavers seek to understand all and have unnerving personalities often referred to as stark raven mad even by their fellow lurea. But many inventions and advancements in the lurean culture are derived from the weavers along with understanding of advanced tech other races use and how to defeat it. The think tanks of chaos weavers are a scrambling  hoard of misunderstood ravings that in its awkwardness is utterly brilliant.
Soothers/bards- The soothers/bards play a very unique role in society dedicated to their great goddess Oxana. At their core they are there to relax there fellows. The soothers and bard's work out of a local establishment often referred to as the lupa den under the elder lupa. They play many roles in their community, storytellers, musicians, game masters, prostitutes, conversationalists, therapists and more. They relax the heart, mind and bodies of those who seek their presence. Sometimes the soother might merely give a song, other times the bard might perform a sultry dance, host a night of fun games or leave you strapped to a bed every muscle sore in the ecstasy of your release. The soothers and bards are multi-talented and aim to please their clients to there fullest. The comfort of one of these individuals is a common practice in most villages to the point of being an accepted form of consul. They hold high respect in any community they reside in
The coven- The coven are mages dedicated to the goddess lira. They seek to unravel the mysteries of magic, the nexus and life itself. They praise lira's self exile of the culture and often live on the fringes of society, almost the cousin to the chaos weavers. when one is in need of esoteric knowledge, remedies or assistance none need look further than their local coven.
Oracles/Augers- Oracles and augers are guides of the lurea worshiping the virgin goddess Orianna. Due to the sanctity of the the goddess only virgin woman and eunic men can pursue the path of the oracle leading many men to prefer the role of auger. Oracles live secluded lives among sacred groves often protected by ahsen guard. They help to predict the future from visions given to them by their goddess or induced by oh so reliable liquids and berries most would not dare eat. The augers take a more active role in society learning to read the weather, birds and state of the world to make key predictions to the natural state fo things like knowing when a key wind will change and when the ebb and flow of mana comes to an area.
Plain stalkers- Though not a specialty group but another form of community/ the plain stalkers have left the forest life to live among the rolling hills and plains of the world. they have built mighty structures, aqueducts and are vigorous in their pursuit of trade and engineering inspired by their patron god Porthos and ambitious like the vigilant god Sondiver.
Frost backs- Another group who isn't necessarily specialists but take to the high winter mt's. They live in a low oxygen, extremely cold climate often moving around as nomads in their frigid homes. there set up camps for weeks or months before seemingly just packing up and moving along to a new spot. Many of the main lurea consider them an oddity but respect their survival capabilities and always appreciate the aid there willing to give.
Cooking-
If one thing can be said about the lurea food, It's delicious, enjoy it. Do not ask what's in it.
Common proteins-Scalagia hound- The meat is pretty tough and bland on its own. But the meat having the lack of flavor it does tends to absorb the flavors of spices added to the dish making it an incredibly versatile meat.
Scarland- Scarland meat is a putrid dish not often consumed even by the lurea themselves. Due to the scarlands notorious deadliness though they will make dishes from it to the warriors who slayed the beast to honor the hunters and monster. Most of the creature though goes into crafting weapons, armor and religious purposes.
Hell scarab- The outer parts of the scarab are used to produce high grade armor and defensive equipment of the lurea. But the beast is a mammoth of a monster, the internal bits are harvested and preserved to make a wide range of cuisine. The amount of food that can be prepared from these mighty beasts makes it one the most stable form of meat in the society.
