Book Review: Batman 89’
A mini-series continuation of Burton's Batman universe is upon us, but how does it hold up three decades later?
In 1989, Tim Burton’s Batman changed the way some people felt about superhero films, and gave actor Michael Keaton one of his most iconic film roles. Needless to say, the films success brought about a sequel that was more in line with Burton’s sensibilities, but strained Warner Brothers’ thoughts on profitability with a story that was darker, and much less family-friendly.

Batman '89 is coming to DC Comics
Batman ’89 is coming to DC Comics
Continuing the twisted adventures of DC’s Dark Knight from Tim Burton’s seminal classic Batman movies, Batman ’89 brings in screenwriter Sam Hamm (Batman, Batman Returns) and artist Joe Quinones (Dial H for Hero) to pull on a number of threads left dangling by the prolific director. The gothic mentality behind the world, while still rooted in a sense of realism, helped inform many of DC’s global…

Kibbles ‘n’ Bits 3/11/16: Batman ’89 and Secrets of Comics coloring revealed
§ Nice Art, Dept. of Rejected Pitches: It seems that after the success of Batman ’66 and Wonder Woman ’77 , based on the Adam West TV show, Joe Quinones (Howard the Duck) and Kate Leth (Hellcat) pitched DC on Batman ’89, a take on the caped crusader based on Tim Burton’s films. Quinones recently posted the art for the pitch on his blog: Above is a bunch of proof of concept art I did for a Batman…

Vicki Vale is the main character of Batman '89
I would consider this film the well done version of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.  Like in Disney is DC’s comics,  a blonde Alice is portrayed by Vicki Vale. She encounters this weird Mercury top hat filled world of gangsters, the Joker, Batman, Knox even in her own occupation!
There’s something sinister in this world of corrupt policemen, and neo-noirish about the portrayal of Gotham.
