Cryptid of the Day: Nyaminyami
Description: In the 1950s, the BaTonga people were forced to relocate from their ancestral home in the Zambezi Valley by colonists building a dam. They warned the workers that where they were building was the home of a river God named Nyaminyami. A year later, a flood destroyed the dam, killing most of the workers. Bodies of the deceased were not found, so the widows and BaTonga sacrificed a black calf in hopes this would allow the God to return the bodies. The next day, the calf was gone, replaced by the missing bodies.

Album: Africa Speaks Artist: Santana Genre: #LatinRock ℹ️About The Album: The album was produced during a 10-day recording session by Rick Rubin at Rubin's Shangri La Studios in Malibu, during which they recorded 49 songs. Rubin and Carlos Santana used an eight-piece band (which included Santana's wife, Cindy Blackman Santana, on drums). 💭Thoughts: If there are lyrics, I'd like to know what they're saying but nevertheless my ears seek out new sounds, interesting new structures and see the audioscape come to life. This particular album has Santana's signature sounds with a strong flavour of the theme, Africa. The drums, the synchronising indigenous beats to the sound of Santana's guitar or the synth bringing out the cinematic quality of the album. It's a narrative, the structure an audiophile's paradise. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. 🍹Goes Best With : Sangria, Mint dip with a side of chips and your eyes closed while you get ready to groove to the album. Every track is independent and has its own flavour. Well, what are you waiting make a night out of it. Favourite Tracks: 🔥Batonga, 🔥Oye Este Mi Canto, 🔥Blue Skies,🔥Praísos Quemados, 🔥Breaking Down the Door, 🔥Bembele, 🔥Luna Hechicera. Featured Tracks : ✅Bembele, ✅Candombe Cumbele. #MusicReview #Music #Santana #AfricaSpeaks #Muzikco #sangria #mint #chips #KANSASreviews #Musik_Co_ #TasteYourMusic #PsyNok #Psyn0k #FavouriteTracks #Music https://www.instagram.com/p/CmJ1Ei3P3dT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Marriage Traditions and Customs of Tonga People
Tonga Tribe The Tonga people of Zambia and Zimbabwe (also called ‘Batonga’) are a Bantu ethnic group of southern Zambia extraction. (via Breaking Barriers – DJ Kwe unites indigenous women in music)
“Radio Remixes Voices of Binga” went public the very day I took off to Binga to join Zubo Trust women on the journey to their own media production. When I traveled around Lake Kariba to join women producers at Zongwe FM in Zambia, oral history became “radio active” and Binga women recordings built a radio-bridge between Tonga communities both sides of the Zambezi. DJ Kwe’s dance tracks were part and parcel of these three-in-one journeys. Prior to the release of the album, and starting from Kwe’s first contact to me, another amazing, but much more hidden journey unfolded… #indigenousknowledge #humanrights #womenempowerment #firstnation #DJKwe #aboriginalelectronica
