Hey can I ask if you know veritybitchie is ok with pan people??? I scrolled down say they had videos on it and am worried if I click on it's just all misinfo
nah that youtuber is a panphobe. and just has shitty opinions all around. and is writer for a queer publication that is actually incredibly queerphobic and run by the panphobes at bidotorg. and wrote a tumblr callout post about me falsely portraying me as a malicious biphobe. and reblogs/interacts with panphobes on tumblr where the only posts related to pan that are shared are about problematic definitions/people/etc. i'd steer clear tbh.

I honestly highly recommend that bisexuals no longer support BiDotOrg or ambi. Ian Lawrence-Tourinho, the founder of both these organizations, follows and supports J.K. Rowling, who we all know is transphobic. Below is a screenshot for proof.

@stonewalluk Bi Empowerment day was really worthwhile. Met lots of bi people, some newly out, and lots of great contributions from the other attendees during the very interactive day of talking and listening; gender id and other marginalised groups also discussed, racism etc. Brought bi flags, leaflets for other groups (I explained the symbolism of bi flag - lots of newly out bi folk don't know it exists/what it looks like). @we_are_biscuit , Bi Community News, @bidotorg , Bi Pride UK (twitter @BiPrideUK) already mentioned on slides. Heard that plan for it came out of previous bi role model day with feedback applied. There are a photo or two more somewhere, if published with permission I will (re)share. BiDotOrg’s Panphobia and Other Assorted Queerphobia
If you aren’t familiar, BiDotOrg is a project of The American Institute of Bisexuality (also known as the Bi Foundation).
BiDotOrg on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook have been posting panphobic things, as have the people in charge of the organization on their personal accounts, such as Rio Veradonir and Ian Lawrence-Tourinho.
Rio: BiDotOrg contributing editor/writer, AIB assistant director, amBi lead organizer, and Queer Majority creator/publisher.
Rio is married to Talia Squires: BiDotOrg director, amBi coordinator, and Queer Majority columnist.
Ian: BiDotOrg founder, IAB director, amBi founder/head, and Queer Majority founder/writer.
Also noteworthy:
A panphobic YouTuber, who Ian has praised, is a writer for Queer Majority.
J. Michael Bailey, biphobe/transphobe/all around yuck, is a writer for Queer Majority was funded by AIB, and supported by BiDotOrg.
Ray Blanchard, a known transphobe, recommended AIB as “rational non-woke/progressive” in the same vein as Arielle Scarcella, Blaire White, and Brandon Straka, and Ian liked the tweet.
BiDotOrg and those running it have a history of queerphobia:
advocating against pansexuality and other mspec identities
including a rule against “panjacking” in their Facebook group
erasing the mspec sexualities of characters and real people
claiming all mspec people are “scientifically bisexual”
arguing attraction is based on biological sex
defining bisexuality as “both homo and hetero”
advocating for “traditional feminism” in favor of “erasing biology”
claiming “pansexuality gave us conversion therapy”
participating in the slander against the pan flag
spreading “battleaxe bi” panphobic lies
spreading nonbinary exclusion and transphobia
supporting J.K. Rowling and also other transphobes
being decidedly against self-identification (shown below)
Everyone who criticizes them, tries to talk to them, expresses a different viewpoint, or even likes/shares the posts of others who are doing so have their replies hidden and comments deleted and get blocked. They routinely hide behind the bisexual umbrella, showing how the bisexual umbrella is often incredibly harmful and should be phased out in favor of mspec.
BiDotOrg is a prime example of why I say panphobia goes hand in hand with biphobia and transphobia. Or as someone once said: cut a panphobe and a biphobe/transphobe bleeds.
A long, detailed account of BiDotOrg & co.’s queerphobia below.
Now, let’s get into what happened in September.
BiDotOrg tweeted “Red wine or white wine? Why not both? Even after SchittsCreek has ended, David Rose remains one of our favorite bi characters. #BiPrideMonth #BiMonth” with a link to their website’s page for David. (Notice their binary reimagining of David’s wine metaphor?)
When people rightfully corrected them about David being pansexual, they blocked people, hid replies, locked the thread so only people they mentioned could reply, and blocked people from their personal and other queer organization accounts (Rio, Queer Majority).
After over a week of that behavior, BiDotOrg tweeted “There’s been a bit of Much Ado About Nothing RE pan vs bi on Twitter today. It’s fine to ID as pan, but if you insist it’s mutually exclusive with bi, that’s biphobic. It’s particularly sad to see this on the eve of #BiVisibilityDay. And yes we ban biphobes. No apologies.”
This is classic panphobia. Disregarding valid concerns about pan erasure as “unimportant” and “pan vs bi”. Pulling the “it’s fine to identify as pan, BUT” line. Misrepresenting what happened. False accusations of biphobia. And taking pride in it, as indicated by the smug “no apologies”, which is a slap in the face to the bi people who were blocked by an organization that is supposed to be for them.
They added “Pan falls under the bi umbrella, because there is no way to describe pansexuality that doesn’t also apply bisexuality. Any attempt to do so relies upon biphobic misconceptions.” and Rio reiterated the same thing in a since deleted tweet.
Saying it’s biphobic to ever differentiate between the pan and bi is saying they are always the same, mislabeling a lot of pan people, and erasing bi people who don’t fit the definition of pan (not all bi people are attracted to all genders/regardless of gender!).
When someone said they could’ve acknowledged David’s pansexuality in their tweet instead of blanket blocking everyone, they replied with “We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to blocking biphobes. We blocked people for implying that us saying he was bi is mutually exclusive with him being pan, which has been our longstanding position. Hope this helps :)”
Saying “they’re pan, not bi” has absolutely nothing to do with mutual exclusivity, umbrella terms, subcategories, or definitions. When a person only identifies as pan, or a character is only described as pan, they are only pan. You do not have the right to decide for them that they’re bi. This portrayal of people advocating for respecting pansexual self-identification and canonical pansexuality is disingenuous at best, and malicious at worst.
They added “Also, there is something sadly lame and reactionary about Twitter culture in general. Folks tend to react without even bothering to read the actual article which clearly acknowledges his pan identity. Of course a tweet cannot capture every nuance.”
Without taking anything away from their tweet, they could’ve added something like “while David is part of the bisexual umbrella, he is labeled pansexual on screen.” to cover the “nuance” while fitting in the character limit. The claim that we just didn’t read the article and we don’t get nuance is classic panphobia: belittling pan people and our intelligence.
(When someone pointed out to them that “lame” is an ableist slur, they ignored them, blocked them, and hid their reply.)
They said, “A friendly reminder that pan is one of numerous labels some individuals use to describe bisexuality. Anybody whose attraction is not limited to one sex fits the scientific definition of bisexuality. It’s both anti-scientific and biphobic to say otherwise.” which is debunked here.
Then they tweeted, “The article acknowledges David’s pan identity. Sadly, some people chose to attack us based on false assumptions made without reading it. It is our policy to ban people for confrontational behavior, especially if engaged in spreading anti-scientific, biphobic misinformation.”
The article mentioning his pansexuality does not justify calling him bisexual several times in the tweet, with zero mention of his pansexuality at all. It’s not misinformation or confrontational to correct pansexual erasure.
(During this, another bi organization said they “could understand if they were using bi+” and I need y’all to listen to us!!! That’s still pan erasure. Not because one can’t be pan and bi, but because you know they only identify with pansexual or are only described as pansexual and are making the active choice to only or mostly call them bi or bi+ instead. Disrespecting self-identification is always queerphobic.)
(The same situation happened in June of this year. When corrected on calling David Rose bi, BiDotOrg claimed “It’s a both/and thing, not an either/or thing” which is false and ignores the other, true option: and/or. Some are bi and pan, some are bi or pan. They condescendingly called a bi person biphobic for saying we shouldn’t call pan people bi if they don’t identify with it, and brought up mutually exclusivity, which no one was talking about. BiDotOrg deleted some tweets, and Rio chimed in to argue for prioritizing science and used the panphobic square/rectangle analogy.)
(It also happened at the end of 2020 with the character Iron Bull. They tweeted about him being bisexual, were told he’s pansexual, got very defensive (tweets have since been deleted), and blocked everyone from both BiDotOrg’s account and personal accounts. When linked to the confirmation of Iron Bull’s pansexuality, Rio responded, “Pan is a subcategory of bi”.)
Rio decided to chime in again, going on quite a rant that has since been deleted, but at least I had already copied and pasted the tweets for this post :)
“A mountain may not tell you it’s a mountain, but it is a mountain. Self-identity is not the standard, because reality is the standard. Bisexual has a legitimate, scientifically recognized meaning. It applies by definition to ‘pan.’ These are the facts.”
Putting sexualities in scare quotes is something bi activists have been fighting against for decades, and I’m genuinely baffled by the dehumanizing comparison of mountains and human beings. Mountains do not have feelings, thoughts, or agency over what language is used to refer to them. Pansexual people do.
Queer activists who disregard, deprioritize, or disparage self-identification (and the ever growing list of labels) are not interested in queer liberation. The right to name ourselves and be recognized as such has always been a basic facet of queerness. Playing with labels and language has always been a big part of queerness.
BiDotOrg being against self-identification and their use of the bi umbrella is incongruent with bisexual history, specifically. The bi community has a long history of prioritizing self-identification and openly discussing labels and language, and its treatment of bisexual as an umbrella term was historically an open way for all mspec people to come together on the basis of shared experiences.
“Except that we literally do exactly that, and that’s how we have scientific proof of bisexuality. Just calling yourself something doesn’t make it so. I can say I’m a duck, but I just ain’t. Truth matters.”
You know who else says things like “calling yourself something doesn’t make it so” and “oh I guess I’m an *object, animal, etc.* because I said so”? Transphobes. TERFs. Congrats.
He claimed “arguing about semantics is boring” which is blithely dismissing respecting pansexual identification as tiresome, pointless semantics, and said “my lived experience frankly leaves me trigged by pansplainers who pop in and say ‘actually they aren’t bi. They’re pan!’ It’s bi erasure and it’s usually based on some seriously biphobic misconceptions like that bisexuality reinforces the gender binary. It’s not true.” which is treating pansexual people as clueless and overconfident when speaking to bisexual people.
He wrapped up it by playing the victim and denigrating everyone and the entire situation by misrepresenting them “toxic twitter culture” and people getting “overly worked up” and “pretty nasty trolling” and “intentionally piling on someone for disagreeing”.
Ian also had something to say, tweeting “His *dad* uses the word. David never does. The whole point of the show is that the Rose family is eccentric & detached from reality. Bisexuality has meant the same thing since 1892 &is built on the framework invented by the 1st Rainbow flagactivists. Pansexuality gave us conversion therapy”.
Implying if the word isn’t used by David, then he isn’t pansexual, claiming the Rose family being eccentric and “detached from reality” somehow is represented through David’s pansexuality, and disgustingly blaming conversion therapy on pansexuality.
(A blue-check shrink/sex therapist predictably chimed in to say “For the record: term pansexual was introduced by Freud who argued all instinct emerged from sexuality.& who viewed homosexuality as a disease to be cured. Fact check on this tweet? Mostly true, though there’s not a direct line from this concept to attempts to change sexuality”, which was liked by Ian and Rio. I will remind everyone again: Freud’s pansexualism is not our pansexuality, and insisting on equating a sexuality to a theory that was part of treating mental disorders is homophobic.)
When someone tweeted about BiDotOrg’s panphobia, another person replied wanting to know if it’s the same organization that tried to copyright the bisexual flag, and Ian replied saying that was BiNetUSA. He conveniently did not comment on the panphobia being called out in the original tweet.
A search of Ian’s Twitter showed him spreading panphobic, racist lies about the pan flag: “The pan flag was appropriated from the reign of Cochin!”, with a screenshot of and link to the vandalized Kingdom of Cochin Wikipedia page.
And in 2020, he claimed “‘2 or more genders’ is specifically engineered to create space and justification for a new, separate identity that’s ‘love of all genders,’ claiming a space that’s *already been claimed* by bi activists since the 70s. It’s not that hard to understand why that’s problematic.” which is spreading another panphobic lie, one you see amongst “battleaxe bisexuals”. Pan people did not create or push the the “two or more” definition in order to steal bisexuality's “original” definition. Especially considering pansexual as a “love of all genders” identity also existed in the ‘70s.
Ian liked tweets about how “young social media mobs are the new cranky old people offended by and wanting to censor everything that doesn’t fit with their tender sensibilities” and how “latinx and ‘pregnant people’ are wildly unpopular terms being adopted despite how many people with brains hate them”.
BiDotOrg’s website is also full of mislabeling and erasure.
The page for “bi characters” has 24 pansexual characters, and only 1 has their pansexuality mentioned. 7 bi AND pan/omni characters, and zero also have their pansexuality/omnisexuality mentioned. I noticed 15 unlabeled characters and 1 lesbian. Since various character pages include tweets and interviews as “proof” of a character’s bisexuality, it cannot be argued that they don’t know about or account for off screen confirmation.
The page for “famous bi people” has 12 pansexual people, and only 2 have their pansexuality mentioned. 5 bi/pan/omni people, and only 1 has their pansexuality mentioned. There are 2 I’m not sure if they still identify as both or just pan, but neither have their pansexuality mentioned. 1 is omnisexual, and their omnisexuality is mentioned. I noticed 11 queer/unlabeled/??? people. There are some quoted interviews where mentions of pansexuality are left out. This is purposeful pansexual erasure. No other way to slice it.
The series of “Bi Book Club” articles includes 5 books with pansexual characters whose pansexuality is never mentioned. One article even praises the book’s portrayal of bisexuality, then complains that the author never describes the characters as bisexual, in or out of text, when the author tweeted that the characters are pansexual. It just never occurs to them that bisexual isn’t used because they’re not bisexual.
This was mentioned in the beginning of the post, but I want to mention it here in more detail.
In 2019, Bisexual.org on Facebook posted a link to a panphobic article titled “Bi Is Enough: Parting with Pansexuality”, quoting the article in the caption, “‘Pansexuality is fundamentally based in biphobic misconceptions and is causing significant harm to the LGBTQ community. It is widely believed bisexuality means 50/50 attraction to cis men and women, with no room for trans or other genders. These [false] ideas are the basis on which pansexuality is built.’ #StopBiphobia #SayBisexual #RealSexEd” [x]
In the comments, they went on to say biphobic misconceptions are “being spread every time people use the term. They have the right to do so, and we have the right to point out the fact that it misleads the public in ways that harm bi people.” and “sexual orientation is based on biological sex. Gender is social construct outside of the purview of science.” and “bisexual is a scientific term that describes anyone whose sexual attractions aren’t limited to one biological sex. Pan is one of many unscientific colloquial identity labels people who are bi may use to self identify.” [x]
They blocked people criticizing them on Twitter and Facebook, and deleted comments.
Researcher and activist Heron Greenesmith broke down the article Bisexual.org posted, as well as their comments, in this Twitter thread. This tweet specifically starts the part about how their “attraction is to biological sex” and “because science” comments are false, scary, and venturing into TERF territory.
A writer who wrote an article on the situation was blocked by BiDotOrg, amBi, and Queer Majority, and has an entire thread detailing the situation and noting NY Area Bisexual+ Network’s dismissive comments, and another article updating the situation with Rio’s official statement in response to the first article.
BiDotOrg continues to erase pansexuality on Twitter, this time with Frank N. Furter and the protagonist and love interest of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, both of these instances done by the same org columnist, Jennie Roberson.
I’m sure there’s more, because I can’t possibly find everything, but this is all I have at the moment, and it’s a damn lot and enough for no one to support BiDotOrg, amBi, Queer Majority, and the individuals running them.

Honestly, why do ppl think it’s okay to just screenshot posts from Tumblr without attribution and use them to drive traffic to their page?
Apparently BiDotOrg reposted my birth control story and cut off my URL. The only reason I know about it is because @sperari recognized @dadhoc‘s old URL in the post.
Seriously it’s not that hard to provide a source link and not cut off credit.
NOT COOL.
