hi, hope you're doing well. in this post, why is bidar kadinefendi described to be miserable [sad]? which book is this comment from? as countess mathilde von keller was a lady-in-waiting to empress augusta victoria, i would assume that she noted this comment from one of wilhelm ii's visits to istanbul along with augusta victoria. i can't help but wonder what the situation was which made bidar kadin so miserable? thank you!

The quote is taken from Countess von Keller's memoirs and I have no idea why she looked miserable— I don't think the countess knew either.

Maybe she had fought with the sultan before the reception, I don’t know.

Why bidar kadin have more influence in ottoman politics than other wives of abdulhamid II? And then she exile in yildiz palace (I see on the series)

None of Abdülhamid II’s consorts had political influence during his reign. His daughter Ayşe said in her memoirs that he didn’t tolerate women “meddling” in politics after seeing what had happened to Abdülaziz and Murad V.

Never trust Payitaht Abdülhamid, that series is garbage and none of what they portray is true.

I would like to ask you something that I wondered about during the Ottoman period. Or what was the reaction of the sultan to those who did not want to enter the party with him? For example, to the reaction of a concubine who did not want to enter the bed of Sultan Abdulhamid (I read that the concubine was very young, and in his old age), Sultan Abdulhamid was very upset and tried hard to convince him after he finally agreed to enter his bed ( After they were together) I read that Sultan Abdulhamid did not look at the woman again ?? Can you tell a little bit please ☺️🙏

I don’t think slave concubines could refuse the sultan without being punished in some way. I guess the punishment would depend on the refused sultan. 

I’m sorry but I don’t know this story. I assume you’re talking about Abdülhamid II but I could not find anything, only that his Second Consort, Sâfi-nâz Nûr-efzûn, had bouts of jealousy and wanted him to discard all his other wives and be in a monogamous relationship with her. She afterwards asked for a divorce and Abdülhamid II granted it. I think Bidar too once refused to open her doors to him in a fit of anger, but nothing ever came out of it. She wasn’t disgraced or anything.
