We had our last basketball tournament this weekend in Rhode Island…New England state championships. Teams had to qualify via their regular season or end of season tournaments to enter the tournament, so the competition is pretty good. We went 3-0 in our pool play to get to the championship game, which was a rematch with the team we lost to in last year’s championship game — a team out of Biddeford, Maine. Unfortunately we came up a little short, but wasn’t for the lack of effort. Extremely proud and fortunate to be involved with such an amazing group of girls! Final record was 34-3. Definitely nothing to hang their heads about. Long season - started practice end of October and just finished third weekend of March - but the season flew by which was a sign of a great time.

some years ago we came here the morning after Christmas. it looked just like this — big open sky, not a bit of snow in sight. that particular day the wind carried the clean ring of church bells across the field and over the sea. but yesterday was quiet, save for the waves, and for the baby humming away on my back as we went.
