the whole "cats choose their owners" thing is really funny to me because ivy very much did NOT choose me. she was a slightly dim-witted and very rambunctious feral kitten, and that combination led to her getting herself stuck inside an old chipmunk nest halfway down the steep bank of the creek by my parents' house. from there she proceeded to scream her head off until both my mom and i came out to see what on earth was making all that racket, then we excavated her out of that hole like a sad little potato. she was grateful for the rescue, but definitely NOT grateful for the ensuing flea baths and conversion to indoor cat life at my apartment, which she reminds me of regularly. ivy i'm sorry for saving you from an early death due to predation/disease/cars, but can you stop biting me every day of my life please

I got peer pressured!!! Into making!! A dogsona!! And you know what!!! She is a good girl, I can see the appeal of making one. Featuring my stinky feather beasts! I can imagine her being a cheerful and sleepy little muppet that will listen to you about whatever you’re hyperfixating on, and make you a nice cup of tea or coffee when you’re sad. their interactions are SOOO funny i just love the way she saves him in the pirate ep and is like "well if i didn't save him i would never be able to hear him scream in agony again! and that would be very sad..." like WHAT IS HER PROBLEM (AFFECTIONATE)

since its canon that damien is big into science/biochemistry i like the idea of her asking him questions about poison effects on the human body (she already knows the answer, she just wants to hear him talk about it)

Bad translations by incapable professionals piss me off of course, but translators who are capable and yet consciously betray a text baffle me...  I just found out that in one of my favorite crônicas by Clarice Lispector, one I wanted my wife to read, the translator translated “nunca tive piedade na primavera” (smth like “I have never felt pity in springtime” or “I never feel pity in the spring”), a phrase the author repeats four times in a single paragraph, as “Ive never pitied the spring” 😭 literally why would you do that, it changes completely the meaning of the text!! It fucks me up that it is clearly a choice and not a mistake... No idea why it affects me so much every time, but this type of intervention on behalf of the translator is so...!
