NASA and Boeing were forced to stand down from an attempted launch to the International Space Station on Monday because of a last-minute issue that cropped up with a valve on the spacecraft’s rocket.
Boeing’s Starliner capsule had been scheduled to lift off at 10:34 p.m. ET from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on its first crewed test flight. NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams were on board the capsule and strapped into their seats when the launch attempt was called off, roughly two hours ahead of the planned liftoff.
NASA announced early Tuesday that a second attempt would occur no earlier than Friday.
Mission controllers declared Monday’s launch “scrub” after an anomaly was detected on a valve on United Launch Alliance’s Atlas V rocket, which the Starliner capsule was to ride into orbit.
United Launch Alliance officials said in a post on X that the launch attempt was scrapped “out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the flight and pad crew,” adding that the team needs “additional time to complete a full assessment.”
The analysis will include whether the pressure regulation valve, located on the rocket’s upper stage, needs to be replaced, which may cause a longer delay.
The crewed Starliner flight, when it occurs, will be a crucial final test before NASA can authorize Boeing to conduct routine flights to and from the space station.
Officials at NASA and Boeing have said safety is paramount for the spacecraft’s first flight with humans onboard.
The scrubbed launch is yet another setback for Boeing, which has already dealt with years of delays and budget overruns with its Starliner program. It has fallen significantly behind SpaceX, which has been flying crewed missions to and from the space station for NASA since 2020.
Both SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule and Boeing’s Starliner craft were developed as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. The initiative began more than a decade ago, following the retirement of the agency’s space shuttles, to support private companies in building new space vehicles to take astronauts to low-Earth orbit.
Starliner’s first uncrewed flight in 2019 was thwarted by software issues, forcing mission controllers to cut the test short before the vehicle could attempt to rendezvous and dock with the ISS. A second attempt was then delayed several times by fuel valve issues, and it wasn’t until 2022 that Boeing was able to carry out a successful uncrewed flight to and from the space station.

So, I don't exactly know if you've discussed this, but I think it's clear about what this current season is going to lead up to, and why I think it's so important to be adamant and weary about Null Sector's plans.
The evidence is there, and the claim?
Null Sector is trying to start another Omnic Crisis.
However, this one is less 'a glitch in the system'
And more, 'hitting the factory reset button and installing a virus intentionally right after.'
Why?
WELL BUCKLE UP YOUR BAMF BELT KIDDOS CAUSE THIS IS A TRIP AND A HALF.
As we know from story missions, Omnics are being subjugated and indoctrinated across the globe, all at once, in almost every part of the world by Null Sector and those helmets that quite literally place them under a catatonic state and wipe the Omnic's memories.
Torbjörn's analysis on the helmet is very clear when he brings up a very important piece of information:
"I don't know...this device is a nasty piece of work. I think I can get it off, but the bigger problem is, I'm not reading anything in the Omnic's memory banks."
"He's still alive, but it's like the essence of who he is,...is gone."
Now, when we say essence, I'm pretty sure we're saying the Iris, or Aurora's essence that was implemented during the awakening. Now I get what you're thinking. 'Ok Anon #324, but if the Iris gets removed, then why is Ramattra talking about Iris? During the Toronto mission?'
And to you- I say- oh ho ho, my dear, that's exactly what we should be fearing. Let it tie into the fact that there's also one of these Voicelines from Ram when talking about his favorite animal:
"Ants. They build marvelous structures and cooperate when threatened. I find them... Inspirational."
Toronto mission, hell, even the humans are terrified. Everyone is swarming in groups. It's not just gameplay either, when Sojourn is directing the groups of scared Omnics onto the ferry boat, it only proves Ram's point more. People are scared, people are grouping together to fight back, hide, run, and that's exactly what NS wants.
Not only is Null Sector wiping the Iris and awakening out of the Omnics altogether, they're creating a brand new version of the 'Iris'...let's call it 'Pink Eye' cause from what I've seen it's highly contagious. Not only from wiping memories, but also using the memories of strong fighters as well. Human's memories. (*Cough Cough* Ana.)
Have you heard Ram talking during the Toronto mission? He specifically states:
"Together, our one minded purpose. We will make this world, our paradise."
"We welcome you into the Iris."
----------
You let me know what you think about this. I wanna hear some raw thoughts. Big brain mode, no idea is a bad idea. I'm hungry for knowledge.
All I know is that, a couple of things could happen.
If those helmets are taken off, someone is going to have to sacrifice their memories either to bring back the original Aurora awakening and reinstall essence to the Omnics. Wonder who.
If NS ends up indoctrinating a major part of the Omnic population, many will die when and if those helmets do something else. If they can send out a location signal, who knows what else they'll do.
If sentience is reestablished into Omnics and possibly other software coding, this'll be one hell of a trip for all those Null Sector bots.
Man you had a brain blast and I. AM. LOVING IT!
Honestly I love your theory and I don't think there is much to add! It also is a good way to bring in the Junkers cause apparently he found the secret to Omnic life in the Australian omnium-
That could be a way to bring all the omnics back, the Australian Omnium was the place where Aroura was built after all. They could end up brining a second awakening, some residual of Aroura left in the Omnium. It could also lead to the sentience of the Null Sector drones, specifically the bots that are based off of actual people.
Like the C-455 Sharpshooter, P-900 Warhead, S-900 Sentry, A-7000 Wargod and K-2000 Blademaster. If they all have the same glitch that A-7000 has them that is one hell of an identity crisis they're going to have.
--------------------------
All that aside, I want to present my own theory. A counter theory if you will.
And that is Ramattra doesn't know that those helmets are erasing Omnics, he just thinks they are in a catatonic state. There is no indication that Ramattra knows what the subjection helmets are actully doing to Omnics.
If you look back at Ramattra's short story there is no implication of Ramattra wanting to create a new Omnic society through hitting a reset button;
There is an indication of imprisonment, of taking away other Omnics choices in order to make them listen, but that is very different from hitting a reset button. Essentially killing the soul of Omnics. It's something I don't see Ramattra doing knowingly. However, there is a group of people who would not only do this, but has tried to do this before.
Talon.
Something I remember from the Story Missions is Torbjourn saying that the helmets put an Omnics mind in a loop. It's something I didn't think much about. Until I read "The Hero of Numbani".
In that book Sombra hack and installs a virus several Omnics around Numbani. A virus that locks Omnics in a constant loop, and gradually corrupts the Omnics memories.
Sound familiar? There is also the fact that a part of Doomfist's beliefs that are presented in that novel are anti-omnic.
Not only that but I always found it strange that Dommfist, someone who wants conflict, would help someone who has the motivation of "Peace at any cost". Ramattra goal has and still is, for freedom and peace. Something that if he were to gain, would go against Doomfist's want for conflict.
Unless Doomfist is just using Ramattra and Null Sector as a tool to create conflict, adding either an updated version of Sombra's virus (or what he thinks is an updated version), to remove Omnics souls and create a true Second Omnic Crisis.
Not only that but that could also lead into an explanation on what "The Conspiracy" is, maybe it's another God AI who wants to do what Anubis did but has learned from the mistakes of the first Crisis and is trying to make it so they are guaranteed to win.
--------------------------
Either way I am excited for both of these theories, with the first one it's going to be interesting to just explore that aspect of Null Sector, if they get Omnics back are they going to still have their memories, their souls? Are they going to resort back to their basic programming, are they going to go back to being under Anubis's control?
In the case of the second theory, how will Ramattra react if he truly doesn't know what the helmets are doing? Will he stop the invasion? Will he double down? Will he go after Talon?
It's all so interesting!

A few days after the release was discovered in June 2017, Stan met with Southcreek and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, the state’s oil and gas regulatory agency. At the meeting, the company characterized the incident as a “small spill,” the Ledgerwoods later alleged in court. It was unclear how long the leak lasted, but the saltwater plume had already saturated the soil and killed 2 acres of vegetation by the time it broke the surface, according to state oil regulators. Samples analyzed a month later by Oklahoma State University found that the soil’s concentration of chloride, which occurs in the type of salt water injected into the well, had risen to more than 12 times the state’s acceptable level and was “sufficiently high to reduce yield of even salt tolerant crops.” Other tests showed that chloride levels in the family’s water well had spiked to more than five times what the Environmental Protection Agency deems safe. The tests didn’t look for other contaminants like heavy metals that are often left behind by the oil production process. - - Don began traveling 30 miles round-trip to Walmart to buy bottled water. Stan and Tina’s steel pots rusted after being washed, and their 2-year-old great-niece’s skin became irritated and inflamed after repeatedly washing her hands while they potty-trained her. In a text message, the girl’s mother described her hands as looking like they had “a burn.” - - As is common in American oil fields, property rights in this part of Oklahoma often create split estates, where one person owns the land while another owns the underlying minerals, such as oil and gas. The owner of the minerals has a right to drill, even if the landowner would prefer they didn’t. - - But Oklahoma has more than 260,000 unplugged wells — behind only Texas — according to data from energy industry software firm Enverus. To plug and clean up the state’s wells could cost approximately $7.3 billion, according to an analysis of state records. Oklahoma has just $45 million in bonds. The oil industry’s bonds are “shockingly inadequate,” said Peter Morgan, a Sierra Club senior attorney. “It’s clear that abandoning wells and leaving communities and taxpayers to foot the bill to clean them up is baked into the oil and gas industry business model.” At the Capitol in Oklahoma City, which features repurposed oil derricks outside its main entrance, Republican state Rep. Brad Boles has tried for several years to address the shortfall. This year, he introduced a bill to create a tiered bonding system based on the number of wells a company operates, increasing the highest required bond to $150,000. [passed House, did not gt a vote in Senate] - - A stream of trucks rumbled down the Ledgerwoods’ once-quiet gravel road as workers removed enough dirt to fill 750 dump trucks and pumped more than 71,000 gallons from the Ledgerwoods’ water well. But the dangerous concentrations of chloride didn’t change, according to Fox Hollow’s report. - - Progress in the lawsuit was short-lived. In November 2019, shortly after the Ledgerwoods’ attorney sent discovery requests to Wise Oil & Gas, the company filed in a Texas court for voluntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy — a full liquidation of its assets. Company executives acknowledged they declared bankruptcy to avoid legal fees associated with the Ledgerwoods’ suit, according to court records. - - But two months later, Mullin ruled against the Ledgerwoods. He disagreed that Wise Oil & Gas had entered bankruptcy to shed bad investments and dodge cleanup obligations. He blasted the Ledgerwoods for requesting sanctions against the Cocanoughers. “Merely because the Ledgerwood Creditors have been damaged by the saltwater contamination, this does not provide them with an unfettered right to retaliate or lash out against unrelated and far-removed targets, such as the Cocanougher Sanction Targets,” Mullin wrote. If the Ledgerwoods wanted to continue seeking damages against the Cocanoughers and their businesses, they would have to pay the oil company’s attorneys’ fees, about $107,000, Mullin ruled.
It's worth reading the whole article for a breakdown of exactly HOW a company that poisoned a family's well and farm got out of fixing it or paying compensation.
Not as relevant in this particular case, but uncapped out of service wells like this are a major source of methane, an even more potent greenhouse gas than CO2

Undergrad research blast from the past. Here I am in 2020 assembling a micro fluidic flow cell with a gold electrode block. I think I took this video for myself so I knew what to clip to what. This was when I worked with electrochemical sensors, transducing signals via impedance spectroscopy.
A lot of electrochemical techniques rely on measuring voltages or currents, but in this lab we looked at impedance- which is a fancy combination of regular resistance (like the same one from ohms law) and the imaginary portion of the resistance that arises from the alternating current we supply.
I would functionalize different groups on the gold working electrode by exposing the surface to a solution of thiolated biomarker capture groups. Thiols love to form self-assembled mono layers over gold, so anything tagged with thiol ends up sticking. [Aside: Apparently after I left the group they moved away from gold thiol interactions because they weren't strong enough to modify the electrode surface in a stable and predictable way, especially if we were flowing the solution over the surface (which we wanted to do for various automation reasons)]. The capture groups we used were various modified cyclodextrins- little sugar cups with hydrophobic pockets inside and a hydrophilic exterior. Cyclodextrins are the basis of febreeze- a cyclodextrin spray that captures odor molecules in that hydrophobic pocket so they can't interact with receptors in your nose. We focused on capturing hydrophobic things in our little pocket because many different hydrophobic biomarkers are relevant to many different diseases, but a lot of sensors struggle to interact with them in the aqueous environment of bodily fluids.
My work was two fold:
1) setting up an automated system for greater reproducibility and less human labor. I had to figure out how to get my computer, the potentiostat (which controls the alternating current put in, and reads the working electrode response), the microfluidic pump, and the actuator that switched between samples to all talk to each other so I could set up my solutions, automatically flow the thiol solution for an appropriate time and flow rate to modify the surface, then automatically flow a bio fluid sample (or rather in the beginning, pure samples of specific isolated biomarkers, tho their tendency to aggregate in aqueous solution may have changed the way they would interact with the sensor from how they would in a native environment, stabilized in blood or urine) over the electrode and cue the potentiostat for multiple measurements, and then flow cleaning solutions to clean out the tubings and renew the electrode. This involved transistor level logic (pain) and working with the potentiostat company to interact with their proprietary software language (pain) and so much dicking around with the physical components.
2) coming up with new cyclodextrin variants to test, and optimizing the parameters for surface functionalization. What concentrations and times and flow rates to use? How do different groups around the edge of the cyclodextrin affect the ability to capture distinct classes of neurotransmitters? I wasn't working with specific sensors, I was trying to get cross reactivity for the purpose of constructing nonspecific sensor arrays (less akin to antibody/antigen binding of ELISAs and more like the nonspecific combinatorial assaying you do with receptors in your tongue or nose to identify "taste profiles" or "smell profiles"), so I wanted diverse responses to diverse assortments of molecules.
Idk where I'm going with this. Mostly reminiscing. I don't miss the math or programming or the physical experience of being at the bench (I find chemistry more "fun") but I liked the ultimate goal more. I think cross reactive sensor arrays and principle component analysis could really change how we do biosample testing, and could potentially be useful for defining biochemical subtypes of subjectively defined mental illnesses.... I think that could (maybe, possibly, if things all work and are sufficiently capturing relevant variance in biochemistry from blood or piss or sweat or what have you) be a more useful way to diagnose mental illness and correlate to possible responses to medications than phenotypic analysis/interviews/questionnaires/trial and error pill prescribing.

The Future of HR: Why AI Can’t Replace Human Empathy

Intro: So, What’s Really Gonna Happen to HR When AI Takes Over? Alright, everybody’s freaking out about robots stealing jobs and, yeah, HR is right in the mix. Tech’s getting wild, AI’s everywhere, and suddenly people are wondering: do we even need humans in Human Resources anymore? Sure, AI is a whiz at crunching numbers and blasting through paperwork, but when it comes to real, messy, emotional stuff? Sorry, Siri, you’re just not gonna cut it. Let’s talk about why empathy is still king in HR, and why you can’t just swap people for bots—no matter how shiny the tech gets.
AI in HR: Cool Tricks, Major Blind Spots Look, I’ll give credit where it’s due—AI’s killing it at the boring stuff. Sorting resumes? Done. Scheduling interviews? Easy. Creepy-fast data analysis? Absolutely. It’s like having a tireless intern who never sleeps or asks for a raise. But here’s the thing: as soon as you need someone to pick up on a weird vibe in the office, or talk someone through a bad day at work, AI’s just totally lost. Machines don’t “get” people. They don’t know when you’re faking a smile or when someone’s about to quit because their boss is a jerk. That’s the stuff that keeps a team together—and that’s where humans wipe the floor with tech.
Human Empathy: The Secret Sauce for Happy Employees If you’ve ever worked anywhere, you know when your boss actually cares versus when they’re reciting lines from some corporate handbook. Empathy isn’t a checkbox—it’s the whole deal. When someone listens to you, really listens, you stick around. You work harder. You care back. Try getting that from a chatbot. No matter how slick the software, people want to feel seen and heard by… well, actual people. That’s what keeps folks from jumping ship every six months.
Finding That Sweet Spot: Not Too Robotic, Not Too Mushy So, what’s the move? HR can’t just go full robot, but drowning in feelings isn’t great either. Smart HR pros know how to use AI for the grunt work but put humans front and center where it counts. Stuff like real conversations, empathy workshops, and, you know, actually checking in on people. Use AI to get the numbers right, then let humans do the heart stuff. It’s not rocket science, but you’d be surprised how many companies mess it up.
Real-Life Example: Robots + People = Dream Team (If You Don’t Screw It Up) Okay, so here’s a quick story: this giant international company rolled out a bunch of AI tools—resume bots, analytics, the whole shebang. Did HR have a meltdown? Nope. They doubled down on empathy training and made sure every manager actually talked to their team, not just spammed them with reports. Guess what? Productivity went up, and people didn’t feel like cogs in the machine. That’s how you do it—tech plus heart, not one or the other

One Last Thing: Ethics. Don’t Be Creepy. Look, just because you can automate something doesn’t mean you should. AI brings up all sorts of sticky questions—privacy, bias, weird robot decisions that make zero sense. HR’s job isn’t just to make things run faster; it’s to make sure people aren’t getting screwed over by some faceless algorithm. Set rules. Stay transparent. Keep it fair. Otherwise, you’re just building a cold, dystopian office no one wants to work in. And honestly, who’s got time for that?

Concrete structures react differently to static and dynamic loads. For safety-critical applications, their response must be properly predicted under high strain rates of aircraft impact, blast, or earthquakes. One of the best ways to do this is by employing the Abaqus Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model. The material model is widely used in Abaqus structural analyses to simulate the inelastic and damage response of concrete under a broad spectrum of loading conditions.

Understanding Nozzle Manufacturing: A Comprehensive Overview
Nozzles, seemingly simple devices, play a critical role in a vast array of industrial and domestic applications. From the precise spraying of agricultural pesticides to the high-pressure cleaning of industrial equipment, the performance of these components directly impacts efficiency and effectiveness. This article provides a comprehensive overview of nozzle manufacturing, exploring the processes, materials, and technologies that contribute to their creation.
The Foundation: Materials and Design Considerations
The manufacturing of a nozzle begins with careful material selection, dictated by the intended application and operating environment. Common materials include stainless steel, brass, various plastics, and ceramics. Stainless steel, known for its corrosion resistance and durability, is frequently used in high-pressure applications. Brass offers excellent machinability and thermal conductivity, making it suitable for general-purpose nozzles. Plastics, with their chemical resistance and cost-effectiveness, are employed in applications where lightweight and non-corrosive properties are essential. Ceramics, with their extreme hardness and heat resistance, are used in demanding applications like abrasive blasting.
Design considerations are equally crucial. The shape, size, and internal geometry of a nozzle significantly influence the spray pattern, flow rate, and droplet size. Engineers employ sophisticated design software to optimize these parameters, ensuring the nozzle meets specific performance requirements. Factors like spray angle, orifice size, and internal flow paths are meticulously calculated and refined.
The Manufacturing Processes: Precision and Control
The manufacturing processes employed vary depending on the nozzle's design, material, and required precision. Common techniques include:
Machining: Traditional machining processes, such as turning, milling, and drilling, are used to create nozzles from metal or plastic stock. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining ensures high precision and repeatability, vital for complex nozzle designs.
Injection Molding: For plastic nozzles, injection molding offers a cost-effective method for mass production. Molten plastic is injected into a mold cavity, creating a precise replica of the desired nozzle shape.
Casting: Casting processes, such as investment casting or die casting, are used for metal nozzles, particularly those with complex geometries. Molten metal is poured into a mold, solidifying into the desired shape.
3D Printing: Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, is increasingly used for prototyping and producing custom nozzles. This technology allows for the creation of intricate internal geometries that are difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional methods.
Sintering: For ceramic nozzles, sintering is employed. Ceramic powder is compacted and heated to high temperatures, fusing the particles together and creating a dense, durable component.
