Excerpt from this story from Canary Media:
With their roaring diesel engines, tugboats push, pull and guide much larger vessels into port and out to sea. They are small but mighty — and incredibly dirty, spewing huge amounts of toxic exhaust and planet-warming emissions every year.
Now, however, the humble harbor craft is going electric.
America’s first fully battery-powered tugboat recently docked at the Port of San Diego, where officials are working to decarbonize not just tugs but also diesel cranes and trucks. The electric tug was built over three years at an Alabama shipyard, then moved through the Panama Canal before arriving in Southern California earlier this spring.
“We’re ecstatic,” Frank Urtasun, the port’s chairman, told Canary Media. “This electric tugboat is a real game-changer that I think will have ramifications across the country.”
The 82-foot-long vessel is set to begin operating within the coming weeks, as soon as the shoreside charging infrastructure is completed, according to Crowley. The Florida-based company owns and operates the electric boat — named “eWolf” in honor of Crowley’s first tug, the early 1900s Seawolf — and everything that’s needed to keep it running.
The eWolf is launching as ports and cities around the world are pushing to decarbonize their industrial waterfronts.
Globally, the cargo-shipping sector accounts for around 3 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions every year. While giant, oil-guzzling freighters tend to draw more public scrutiny for their large environmental impact, many thousands of smaller vessels and workboats are also major sources of both carbon emissions and local pollution.
In the U.S., state and regional policies are increasingly requiring operators to slash emissions from vessels, cranes, forklifts and other diesel-burning equipment. About 39 million people live in close proximity to ports, many of whom are lower-income residents and people of color.
An infusion of government funding has recently emerged to support those efforts. The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act includes $3 billion for zero-emission port equipment and infrastructure. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to announce the recipients of that funding later this year — along with the winners of a separate $115 million program under the 2022-2023 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.

The Best Boat Audio Near Me Systems for Every Adventure in San Diego
Whether you're out for a thrilling wakeboarding session at Mission Bay, a relaxing sunset cruise from La Jolla, or enjoying a sail off Point Loma, the right boat audio system ensures your soundtrack matches the mood. The marine audio systems available today have evolved significantly, offering premium performance, innovative features, and durability for any water activity.

Top Features to Look for in a Boat Audio System
A great boat audio system isn’t just about loud music—it’s about clear, balanced sound that doesn’t distort or fade under extreme conditions. Here are the must-have features for every boat audio enthusiast:
Waterproof Components Marine audio systems are designed to resist saltwater, moisture, and UV rays, ensuring longevity even in the most challenging marine environments like the waters off Point Loma or Ocean Beach.
Bluetooth Connectivity Being able to stream music directly from your phone is one of the most sought-after features. Whether you’re docked at Mission Bay or cruising along La Jolla Shores, having a reliable Bluetooth connection is essential for a seamless music experience.
High-Wattage Speakers & Subwoofers When you’re out on the water, it’s important to have speakers that can produce high decibel levels without distortion. Look for marine-grade subwoofers and speakers that can handle the sun, saltwater, and humidity. A loud sound system is key when you’re out on the waves!
Customizable Sound Settings Whether you’re cranking up the volume while wakeboarding or enjoying a quieter cruise at sunset, adjustable bass, treble, and mid-range settings ensure your music sounds great in any situation. Many advanced marine stereos come with multiple audio zones, allowing you to control sound in different areas of your boat independently.
Marine Audio Trends for 2025: What's Hot in Boat Audio Systems?
The world of boat audio systems is always evolving with new tech and trends. As 2025 approaches, here’s what boaters in San Diego, Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and beyond can look forward to:
1. Wireless Audio Systems
Wave goodbye to tangled wires! Wireless technology is now dominating the marine audio scene, making it easier to connect and control your boat audio system. For boaters in Mission Valley and La Jolla, these systems offer the convenience of remote control, Bluetooth connection, and even voice commands.
2. LED Speakers and Lights
Want to make a statement? Many boat audio systems now come with integrated LED lighting that syncs with the music. Perfect for those who want to throw an unforgettable party or simply enjoy a dazzling light show as they sail through Ocean Beach at night.
3. Smart Integration with Marine Apps

Why Choose Local Marine Audio Experts?
While it might be tempting to purchase an off-the-shelf marine audio system online, there are distinct advantages to working with local audio experts in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, and Mission Valley:
1. Personalized Consultation
Local professionals will consider the size of your boat, your audio preferences, and your budget to recommend the perfect system for your needs. They’ll also help you choose components that complement your boat’s design and layout.
2. Expert Installation
DIY installations can often result in poor sound quality, distorted audio, and potential damage to your boat’s electrical systems. Hiring a local expert ensures that your new system is properly installed and tuned for optimal performance, which is especially important in a marine environment.
3. Local Warranty & Support
Choosing a local shop provides you with in-person service. You’ll get quick troubleshooting and support if anything goes wrong. Additionally, many marine audio installers offer warranty-backed installations, giving you peace of mind that you’ll have support if any components fail.

Best Boat Audio Systems for Different Types of Vessels
The type of boat you own will greatly influence the type of audio system you choose. Here's a breakdown of the best audio setups for various boats in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and surrounding areas:
Yacht Audio Systems (La Jolla & Mission Valley)
For large yachts, you’ll need an extensive marine audio system capable of filling multiple cabins, decks, and entertainment areas with sound. Look for multi-zone systems, high-powered subwoofers, and marine-rated amplifiers to ensure every guest enjoys high-quality sound no matter where they are.
Sailing Boats (Ocean Beach & San Diego Bay)
For a quieter, more elegant experience, choose compact marine audio systems that provide clear sound without overwhelming the serene ambiance. Consider marine speakers designed for clear mid-range frequencies and waterproof radios with Bluetooth capabilities.
Sport & Wakeboarding Boats (Mission Bay & Point Loma)
Sport boats and wakeboarders need high-powered systems that can withstand intense action and high-speed runs. For these vessels, opt for high-wattage amplifiers, tower speakers, and marine-grade subwoofers that ensure the music is loud enough to be heard over the engine and the waves.
Why Sound Matters on the Water: The Experience of a Lifetime
Imagine this: you're cruising along the La Jolla coast, the sunset reflecting off the water, your favorite playlist playing through an epic marine audio system. This is the kind of experience that transforms an average day on the water into a memorable adventure.

On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 on a flight from New York City's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina, struck a flock of birds shortly after take-off, losing all engine power. Unable to reach any airport for an emergency landing, pilots Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan. All 155 people on board were rescued by nearby boats, with a few serious injuries.
This water landing of a powerless jetliner became known as the "Miracle on the Hudson", and a National Transportation Safety Board official described it as "the most successful ditching in aviation history". The Board rejected the notion that the pilot could have avoided ditching by returning to LaGuardia or diverting to nearby Teterboro Airport.
The pilots and flight attendants were awarded the Master's Medal of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators in recognition of their "heroic and unique aviation achievement".
An NTSB board member called the ditching "the most successful ... in aviation history. These people knew what they were supposed to do and they did it and as a result, no lives were lost." New York State Governor David Paterson called the incident "a Miracle on the Hudson." U.S. President George W. Bush said he was "inspired by the skill and heroism of the flight crew," and praised the emergency responders and volunteers. President-elect Barack Obama said that everyone was proud of Sullenberger's "heroic and graceful job in landing the damaged aircraft." He thanked the crew, whom he invited to his inauguration five days later.
The Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators awarded the crew the rarely bestowed Master's Medal on January 22, 2009 for outstanding aviation achievement, at the discretion of the Master of the Guild. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg presented the crew with the Keys to the City, and Sullenberger with a replacement copy of a library book lost on the flight, Sidney Dekker's Just Culture: Balancing Safety and Accountability. Rescuers received Certificates of Honor.
The crew received a standing ovation at the Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009, and Sullenberger threw the ceremonial first pitch of the 2009 Major League Baseball season for the San Francisco Giants. His Giants jersey was inscribed with the name "Sully" and the number 155 – the count of people aboard the plane.
On July 28, passengers Dave Sanderson and Barry Leonard organized a thank you luncheon for emergency responders from Hudson County, New Jersey, on the shores of Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, New Jersey, where 57 passengers had been brought following their rescue. Present were members of the U.S. Coast Guard, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, NY Waterway Ferries, the American Red Cross, Weehawken Volunteer First Aid, the Weehawken Police Department, West New York E.M.S., North Bergen E.M.S., the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey E.M.S. Task Force, the Guttenberg Police Department, McCabe Ambulance, the Harrison Police Department, and doctors and nurses who treated survivors.
Sullenberger was named Grand Marshal for the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
In August 2010, aeronautical chart publisher Jeppesen issued a humorous approach plate titled "Hudson Miracle APCH," dedicated to the five crew of Flight 1549 and annotated "Presented with Pride and Gratitude from your friends at Jeppesen."
Sullenberger retired on March 3, 2010, after thirty years with US Airways and its predecessor, Pacific Southwest Airlines. At the end of his final flight he was reunited with Skiles and a number of the passengers from Flight 1549.
In December 2010, Sullenberger was appointed an Officer of France's Legion of Honour.
N106US, the accident aircraft, was moved to a salvage yard in New Jersey and put up for auction a week after the accident, but remained without takers for over two years. In 2011, it was purchased by the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina, and reassembled, minus the engines, in the museum's main hangar, where it is currently on display.
In 2013, the entire crew was inducted into the International Air & Space Hall of Fame at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
The ditching was recorded by several closed-circuit television cameras. Television reports and documentaries produced soon afterward contained extensive video of the ditching and rescue, and recorded interviews with the aircrew, passengers, rescuers, and other key participants.
Sullenberger's 2009 memoir, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters was adapted into a feature film Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood. It starred Tom Hanks as Sullenberger and Aaron Eckhart as co-pilot Jeff Skiles. It was released by Warner Bros. on September 9, 2016.
In May 2011, CBS News hired Sullenberger as an aviation and safety expert.
His second book, Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders, was published in May 2012. He was ranked second in Time's Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009, after Michelle Obama.
In December 2018, he received the Tony Jannus Award for distinguished achievement in commercial air transportation.
Sullenberger's speech before Congress concerning U.S. civil aviation is featured in Michael Moore's 2009 documentary Capitalism: A Love Story.
Sullenberger is also referred to in the 2011 romantic comedy film Friends with Benefits. Throughout the film, Justin Timberlake's character repeatedly suggests to people he meets aboard planes that modern airplanes practically fly themselves, and that Sullenberger's feat was less impressive than it was portrayed, an idea for which he encounters incredulity and hostility. Mila Kunis' character is also seen reading Sullenberger's English Wikipedia article.
The 2010 song "A Real Hero", by French electronica artist College and the band Electric Youth, is about Captain Sullenberger and the Flight 1549 water landing. Frontman Austin Garrick was inspired to write the song by his grandfather, whose reference to Sullenberger as "a real human being and a real hero" became the song's refrain.
Radio personality Garrison Keillor wrote "Pilot Song: The Ballad of Chesley Sullenberger III" for the January 17, 2009 edition of his radio variety show A Prairie Home Companion.
Sullenberger appeared as himself in a cameo role in the 2017 film Daddy's Home 2.
"Hudson River Runway", the March 14, 2011, episode of the TV series Mayday, documents the events around Flight 1549's emergency landing, and contains interviews with several of its real-life participants. Captain Sullenberger is not interviewed in the show, but is portrayed in reenactments by actor Christopher Britton.
President George H. W. Bush's service dog Sully, who was assigned to Bush in mid-2018 after the death of Bush's wife Barbara, was named after Sullenberger.
Sully is featured in the pilot of the 2020 Fox cartoon series Duncanville.
Sullenberger was widely celebrated for landing the plane with no loss of life.
Jeffrey Bruce "Jeff" Skiles was flying as a First Officer on flight 1549 due to a staff reduction at US Airways; he had usually flown as Captain prior to the staff reduction and actually had slightly more flight hours than Sullenberger (though he had much less experience in the Airbus A320).
Both Skiles' parents were pilots during his childhood, and he became a pilot himself when he was just sixteen years old. He first worked flying cargo airplanes, and then worked for Midstate Airlines from 1983 to 1986, but at the time of the emergency landing he had been with US Airways for 23 years.
Atul Gawande, author of The Checklist Manifesto, asserted that the successful emergency landing relied on the cooperation of Sullenberger and Skiles. Gawande's central premise is that even really experienced people in any field encounter rare events, and that successfully coping with the rare event requires first the careful anticipation of future emergencies, and second, preparing a well thought-out list of steps to follow, in advance.
In his book Gawande reminded readers that, during an emergency, there are so many tasks to complete, that the co-pilot is working at least as hard as the pilot. Sullenberger had taken on the task of finding a safe place to land, and actually landing, leaving his experienced copilot Skiles the task of following the checklist to try to restart the jet engines. He noted that Skiles was able to complete the checklist in the less than three minute period between the bird strike and the landing, noting this was "something investigators later testified to be "very remarkable" in the time frame he had—and something they found difficult to replicate in simulation."
Skiles went on to become the Vice President of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA) that represents the interests of 28,000 airline pilots in safety and security issues. In this role he was instrumental in the creation of the First Officer Qualification rule which significantly increased the requirements for training and experience of First Officers on the flight deck of US registered airliners. Skiles joined with the Families of Continental Flight 3407 and the National Air Disaster Alliance to mold the creation of and ensure passage of the Airline Safety Act of 2010. This sweeping legislation significantly improved safety in the US airline industry and as of 2020 there has not been even one fatality due to a US airline accident in over 10 years.
Skiles is a writer and since 2011 has published over 100 articles on safety and general interest aviation topics in nationally distributed magazines such as Sport Aviation, FLYING, Air & Space, PilotMAG, Midwest Flyer, Vintage Airplane, and the Physicians Executive Journal.
Jeffrey Bruce "Jeff" Skiles, as of 2020, is piloting Boeing 787 Dreamliners for American Airlines.

Your car came with a stereo, right? Maybe it’s fine and it does a decent job, and maybe you’re ok with it. But ask yourself this: Don’t you deserve better than fine and decent?
As a San Diego County resident, you spend hours in your car every week.Back and forth to work, to the grocery store, out to dinner, and now that the holidays are here, to the mall, to the airport, and to holiday parties. In fact, doesn’t it sometimes seem like, aside from the hours you sleep, you actually spend more time in your car than you do at home? So then why not make the experience as pleasurable as it can be?
This holiday season, give yourself the gift that keeps on giving: a high-quality car audio system. And just in case you need more convincing, here are five benefits to upgrading beyond your “fine” and “decent” car stereo:
Better Sound From Your Car Audio With A Premium Sound System
Car Stereo Installation Service near Albuquerque NM:Let’s face it. Your car manufacturer doesn’t care as much about your aural satisfaction as you do. Sure, factory systems have gotten better, but many of those premium systems still use relatively weak speakers and amps that deliver less-than-satisfactory sound. Even if all you do is upgrade your car’s system with high-quality aftermarket speakers, you’ll experience tighter bass and more overall clarity in your tunes.
Better Control Of Your Car Sound System And Speakers
When built to your specifications, a high-quality stereo system has the potential to give you optimal control over the way your music sounds. Most car receivers provide treble, mid-range, and bass control, which is fine for overall sound. But when you build your system with an equalizer, you have multiple points for adjusting your frequency response and ironing out problem peaks. In other words, a high-quality stereo system gives you the ability to fine-tune your tunes.
Better Car Commute In San Diego With A Premium Car Stereo
Remember back when those little tiny Walkman speakers made it possible to pipe the music from your Walkman into your bedroom or dorm room? Sure, you could hear the general idea of the song, but it was nothing like having your headphones on and the music all around you. Well, the difference between your car’s factory system and a high-quality aftermarket stereo is kinda like that. A great system plus Dynamat or any other sound-deadening material to lower interior noise levels will greatly enhance your listening pleasure. When you’re lost in your music, you might even cease to care that you’re in standstill traffic on northbound 805.
Better Communication On Your IPhone Or Android From Your Car
If you spend a lot of time in your car, there’s a good chance you also spend a lot of time on speakerphone. We hate to break it to you, but if you don’t have a decent Bluetooth-equipped system, you are probably annoying everyone on the other end of the phone. Think about it. When you call someone, and you can tell they’re driving because 1) there’s a ton of extra noise in the background, and 2) they sound like they’re shouting over the noise, don’t you hang up sooner than you might otherwise? Want better communication with your wife/husband/mom/kids/boss? Upgrade to a high-quality, Bluetooth-equipped stereo system. Everyone on the other end will thank you for it. If you get one with a simple interface, it’ll also make for safer driving.
Better Reputation With Great Sounding Car Audio In Albuquerque NM
Let’s be honest here. When it comes to our cars, we can be a little…vain. We spend money to make them look good and sometimes even to inspire envy as we race up the 163 or pull up to the valet stand at a downtown restaurant. But a good-looking car with a crappy stereo system is as disappointing as a good-looking man/woman with bad teeth. Your beautiful car deserves a beautiful sound system. Whether or not you care about sound quality when you listen to NPR during your morning commute, you’ll certainly appreciate the way a high-quality stereo system inspires envy in your brother-in-law.

How to install a car stereo
Car Stereo Installation Service near Albuquerque NM:Remove your factory stereo and install a new one Car stereo installation basics In this article, we'll walk you through the process of installing a new car stereo. We'll cover:
● How to remove the factory stereo
● How to wire the new receiver what you need to know to connect it right
● How to install the new car stereo
Please read over these guidelines before beginning the installation so you'll know what to expect.
Installing a new car stereo can often be simple enough to do yourself, and his article will provide you with a general guide on how to do it. Keep in mind that some cars and systems are more complicated than others and that every car and stereo system will be different, so some specifics may vary. Be sure to read any instructions that come with the new car stereo before attempting to install it.
How to Take Out the Old Stereo
Car Stereo Installation Service near Albuquerque NM:
Set the parking brake and disconnect the negative cable from your car battery. Be sure to do this to avoid short-circuiting the electrical system during the installation, which could lead to fire or physical harm for you.
Unscrew any screws that are securing the trim in place. Be careful to remove all screws before trying to pry off the trim or you may break it.
Remove the trim. For some cars, you may need to remove several pieces of plastic trim, usually working from the bottom up.[3]
● If you need to remove trim that includes any knobs or drawers, remove them before trying to pry off the trim.
● Use your hands or a pry tool to pry off each piece of trim. Pry tools are specifically for this purpose and will not damage the trim pieces.
Pull out any necessary components. If you need to remove any components before being able to access the stereo, do so.
Disconnect components that are wired to the car. Take a picture of how each is wired for later reference.
Loosen the stereo. Different cars may have varying elements securing the stereo in place.
● If the stereo is held in place by screws or nuts, loosen them with the appropriate tool (screwdriver or nut driver, respectively).
● If the stereo isn't held in place by screws or nuts, you'll need to use a radio-removal key. This tool is commonly necessary in Ford vehicles. Radio-removal keys (sometimes also referred to as radio-removal tools) will typically either be in an elongated horseshoe shape or will have a circular shape at one end and a notched shaft at the other. They’re available at most auto-parts stores.
● Insert the keys into the two small slots in the face of the stereo. You will release a mechanism holding the stereo in place. Slide the radio-removal keys into each slot again until you feel the stereo loosen from in its housing. You should then be able to pull out the stereo relatively easily.
Pull the stereo out of the panel. You may want to use needle-nose pliers to grip the edge of the stereo and help you pull it out.[4] Pull it gently, and if the stereo doesn't come out easily, double check that you haven't missed any components that may be holding it in place.
Take a picture of how the stereo is wired. This is an important step because the photo will serve as a reference later when you’re wiring in the new stereo.
Unplug the stereo connections. You’ll see a series of wires connected to the back of the stereo, and you’ll need to disconnect each of them.
● First unplug the antenna wire, which will typically be a thicker wire plugged in separately from the rest. Once it’s unplugged, you should be able to move the stereo around more freely.
● Next unplug each of the wire harness connectors. There will typically be several of these and you can recognize them because a series of wires will feed into each one. The plastic piece into which the wires are fed should have either a tab or a button you can push, which will release the harness.
How to Install the New Stereo
Match up the wires. Match the wires of the car’s harnesses to the new stereo’s harnesses. Each harness connector is unique, so it should be easy to figure out which ones fit together.
● To be safe, check the wiring diagrams for both your car and the new stereo to verify you’ve connected them correctly.
● If your car's stereo doesn’t use wire harnesses, you’ll need to match up each wire manually. The wires are color-coded; however, the wires on an after-market stereo may not match with the color-coded wires in your vehicle. It's best to study and follow the wiring diagram that came with the stereo.
● Connect the matched wires. There are two options for connecting the wires, crimping or soldering. Crimping is faster and easier, but soldering will provide a more stable and secure connection. Be sure to use the proper size crimper and don’t try to bundle the wires with tape it will eventually dry out and fall off. Bundle wires using zip ties instead.
Assemble the mounting kit. If your new stereo came with a separate mounting kit, assemble it according to the stereo's instructions (it will often mean fitting a metal housing sleeve into the mounting frame).
Push down on the tabs located around the metal sleeve with a screwdriver to secure the metal sleeve in place.
Connect the power source. Typically, if you have a wiring harness, this connection will be made when you connect the new stereo harnesses to the harnesses in the car.
If you aren't using a wiring harness, you’ll need to manually connect the power. Determine whether your car has a switched power source (typically a red wire) or a constant power source (typically a yellow wire). Some vehicles even have both types of power sources. For more information on switched versus constant power, go here.
Ground the stereo. If you're using wiring harnesses, this connection will be made when you connect the harness pieces.
If you aren't using a wiring harness, you'll need to locate the bolt, wire, or screw that connects with the car's bare metal chassis. Loosen the bolt, wire, or screw and slip the stereo's ground wire (usually black) underneath, then tighten.
Note that the ground connection is important to the optimal performance of the stereo. If the ground wire doesn't connect to the bare metal, it won't work. And if the ground wire connection is loose, it could result in poor audio output. Sand down the area with sand paper to ensure a good connection.
Connect the remaining wires. Plug in the antenna cable and connect the stereo's wiring adapter to the car's wire harness. Connect the output converter if one is needed to make the new stereo compatible with the car's audio system. Have in mind that all wires should be connected in the end and there should be no single one hanging unattended.
Test the stereo. Turn the power on and test the AM, FM, and CD components. Test the fade and balance settings to be sure the speakers are working properly. Turn the power back off.
How to Finish the Installation
● Push the stereo into place. When the stereo is fully in, you should hear it click into place.
● Reconnect the components. Fasten in any screws that are needed to hold the stereo in place, reconnect any wired components, and replace any knobs or drawers that were removed.
● Snap all the pieces of trim back into place over the stereo. Double check that all screws and trim pieces are securely in place.
● Try out the new stereo. Turn the car power on again and play around with the stereo and its settings to be sure everything is in working order.
TIPS
Car Stereo Installation Service near Albuquerque NM:A car can be a great place to enjoy music, but many commuters still put up with marginal sound quality that they'd never tolerate at home. Others assemble sophisticated sound systems for their cars, then make common installation mistakes that keep the system from reaching its full potential.
The best car sound systems rely on decent gear and a little know-how. I've put together some suggestions on how to improve the sound in your vehicle, with tips for both simple factory systems and more sophisticated setups. You don't have to live with bad sound in your car. Even the simplest improvements to your car sound system installation can yield noticeable results.
● Replace your car's speakers
● Select higher quality for your music files
● Bypass your music player's built-in digital-to-analog converter
● Use sound deadening material
● Add a car amplifier
● Add a signal processor or an equalizer
● Build a better sub box. Or buy one.
● Your crossover can really improve the sound of your system
● Set your amp gains properly
● Don't max out your tone controls
● Add a subwoofer and hear what you've been missing
● Use a capacitor if you're going to push your subs hard

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If I install a new stereo, can I still use my steering wheel controls?
You sure can if you install a special adapter. And when you buy any stereo from us, you'll get a deep discount on the steering wheel control adapter for your car. See our article about Steering Wheel Audio Control Adapters for more information.
Why should I get a new car stereo?
Sound and features are the two best reasons for getting a new car stereo. Aftermarket car stereos typically have more powerful amplifiers and better sound-shaping controls than factory stereos. And you'll find plenty of cool features, like Bluetooth® and smartphone compatibility, USB and aux inputs, touchscreen controls, navigation, satellite radio compatibility, and much more, depending on the type and model of car stereo you buy.
How do I know what'll fit my car?
Don't worry, we've done the heavy lifting! Our vehicle research team has checked out thousands of cars and trucks to find out what will (and won't) work in specific vehicles.
Can I keep my steering wheel controls?
You sure can but in most cases you'll need to install a special adapter. And when you buy any stereo from us, you'll get a deep discount on the steering wheel control adapter for your car. See our article about Steering Wheel Audio Control Adapters for more information.
Will a new stereo work with my existing factory options?
Your car may have come with factory-installed options, like satellite radio, navigation, or Bluetooth. In most cases, these are built into the existing factory stereo, or use proprietary protocols which aren't compatible with new aftermarket car stereos, so these features won't work with a new stereo. This can be a complicated issue though, so call or chat with us and we can check out your specific vehicle and features.
Can I get a stereo that will match my dash illumination?
We love it when a new car stereo really looks like it belongs in your dash, and matching the existing dash illumination scheme is a big part of that. To really hone in the color match, look for models that let you adjust the color for different parts of the receiver for example, white for the display and red for the buttons. You'll also find models that let you adjust specific RGB color levels for a perfect match. Search for stereos that feature variable colors to see your options.
Will a new car stereo work with my smartphone?
One of the most exciting things about new car stereos is the way that they integrate with your smartphone. Almost all models offer USB connection to your phone, letting you access your music files or other stored media from both iOS and Android devices. And if your new stereo has Bluetooth, you'll be able to access your music or streaming services that way too.
Will I have better bass with a new car stereo?
Great bass depends on a lot of factors, including what you define as great bass. Generally though, the increased power of a new car stereo will improve the punch of the low end in your system.
Is it hard to install a new car stereo?
Helping you install your own gear is our specialty. Since 1974, Mobile Mechanics of Albuquerque has helped hundreds of thousands of first-time installers put a new stereo in their dash, and get the job done right. Chapter 12 - Out at SEA
Gabe and Trevor rounded another corner and blasted through the school’s back door which leads to the school’s parking lot. The boys huffed and puffed but they still needed to find a private spot to change into their suit.
“There’re surveillance camera’s around. We gotta keep moving,” Trevor whispered to Gabe.
The boys managed to duck in between on two large 4 wheel-drives and change. then they activated their grabbling hooks and swung out of there.
“Where to?” Gabe shouted, struggling to be heard over the sound of winds as they swung to their location.
“THE PORT OF SAN DIEGO!” Trevor shouted back.
The boys swung to their location in record time. They landed on the support of one of the cranes there. They then surveyed their surroundings. The boys sat there patiently looking out for threats and it didn’t take long before Gabe’s ears picked up something.
“There! They’re headed on that fishing boat! I’m hearing a woman’s cry. Let’s go.”
They ran as fast as they could to the boat but even with Gabe’s ability to channel and amplify the energy around him to his advantage, he still couldn’t get to the boat in time before it sailed into the open sea.
“We need a boat!” Gabe said as he searched desperately for one.
“Here,” Trevor said dragging with all his might a small paddle boat in the shape of a purple dragon.
“You got to be kidding me,” Gabe said under his breath as he sucked up all his dignity and help Trevor shove the boat into the ocean.
They hopped on and paddled like they never paddled before. Gabe could hear the woman’s cry becoming more distinct the closer they were getting. As soon as they are in reach of the boat, they flung their grabbling hooks and swung on board. They met face to face with a hooded figure. The figure was cloaked in a black cloak.
Even though the boys couldn’t see the figure’s face, they could feel it staring into their soul and that gave them goose bumps. They saw the woman with a man that should be her husband and 2 children all tied up on deck.
“Who are you?! Unhand them at once!” Gabe spoke.
The cloaked figure said nothing. It stayed still for a moment. Not even flinching when a seagull pooped right at his boots. Then, at the least expected it waved its hand and the sky went dark. Rain started pouring down and waves started to rise. A bolt of lightning flashed in the palm of its gloved hands and it charged at Trevor.
Trevor was only just able to get away from the figure before it strike the bolt before it struck him. The spot where the lightning had landed had left a burnt mark on the deck. The cloaked figure swung back round to get ready for another blow. Gabe, using his speed and his cylinder (that really needs a better name) as a whip to try and get a strike on the figure.
Gabe missed his first blow and moved his arm back for a second but before he could, Trevor grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“ You can’t use that to hit it down. The bolt must be charged with all that electricity. You’ll be fried if you used the cylinder. It’s a conductor you see?”
“A conductor?” Gabe pondered as they both did their best dodging and trying to see if they could land a punch or a kick on the figure. The figure managed to land a blow on Gabe’s arm. It stung of course but it didn’t hurt him as much if he didn’t have the suit on. Then an idea hit him. Gabe signaled Trevor to follow his lead. Gabe thew a smoke grenade before running to the front of the boat and ducking under some barrels. Trevor did the same.
“ Listen carefully,” Gabe whispered as quickly as he could while the figure’s vision was still blurred. “We’ll use our cylinders as a trap. It’s pressure activated right? So we’ll roll in on the ground as soon as the smoke starts to wear off and well lure it towards the cylinder on the ground. He’ll be bound to step on it and set of the hooks which will hopefully bind it and it’ll end up electrocuting himself,”
The boys executed the plan like planned. The figure ended up shocking himself. Not until a crisp, but he did get knocked out before his bolt flashed out of his hand and the water and skies calmed.
Gabe freed the captured while Trevor unhood the hooded figure. He did a quick examination of the now known to be, man and snapped a few pictures of him on his cell before sailing the boat back to land.
Gabe swapped out their cylinders with the rope used to bound the woman and her family, called up Sir March and swung out of the area before the now freed family could mutter out a thank you.
