I must say, I love evil Star Flower and I love the idea of her sacrificing Skystar 9 times. He deserves it, the little punk. I also love DOTC so any other fun tidbits like characters you actually gave proper arcs (like Turtle Tail. Turtle Tail deserved better)
DOTC is getting a WHOLE lot of scramble, unlike many other arcs where I stick close to canon, I am unbound by it for DOTC. The gloves are OFF.
Fun tidbits;
Bumble will NOT die. She is, in fact, a very important member of ThunderClan going foward
Bumble is the other mother of Turtle Heart (prev. turtle tail's) kittens. Gray Wing is the godfather and eventually helps Bumble raise them. Gee how come your mom lets you have three parents?
Thunder Storm has three legs and is trans and MLM.
Thunder Storm does not worship Clear Sky for no reason; he's actually one of the few characters who is more guarded about him from the offset.
Gray Wing's arc is about family, wisdom, love, and the way that toxic family can affect you even when you've cut them off.
They live for well over a decade and get to meet lots of great-grandchildren, they are not dying at 2 years old, screw that
One Eye is Sharptooth and also eats Tom.
Sparrow Heart villain arc (prev. sparrow fur)
NO CLEAR SKY REDEMPTION. GOUGAR TIME
River Ripple is a prince now, or a king. His group is a Kingdom before it is a Clan.
Owl Heart, son of Turtle Heart, gets to learn hunting techniques from an owl because he has autistic swagger and get the first Honor Title.

Tom's Redemption
There's a special kind of brain rot out here, folks. Yes, Tom gets redeemed by the narrative.
In Blazing Star, the story has decided that Gray Wing is not the real father of the children he raised. Ever since Tom literally kidnapped them and got their mom killed, they've seen him as their dad.
Clear Sky brings Tom into the group despite knowing that he kidnapped the children a few weeks ago.
Sparrow Fur (child) runs away from the Moorland Group to go find out the truth about her Real Dad. Eventually One Eye attacks her and tries to kill her.
Tom jumps in to save her,
Tumblr media
This is Death Equals Redemption. Denying that this is a redemption is a complete and total failure of literature analysis.
This is one of the oldest types of redemption in literature. This is fucking biblical. This is Gospel of Luke, penitent thief dying on a cross type shit. The term "redemption" was created to describe this sort of situation.
Just because this trope is (rightfully imo) unpopular does not mean it is not categorically a type of redemption.
Tom gets to die a heroic death saving his child as both of the women he battered are dead and cold in their graves, because of him. One of them couldn't even be buried.
And, no, the narrative doesn't just gloss over it. This is a major motivating force for Sparrow Fur later in the book, when she explicitly avenges "her father".
Tumblr media
Tom is a character that the narrative redeems. The story that they are telling is that because Tom was her biodad, that does mean he truly did love her and was willing to give up his life to save hers. The kittens' immediate love for a man they 1. Never met before the kidnapping and 2. Beat the shit out of their mom and got her killed is a GOOD and JUSTIFIED thing in this narrative.
That's what is literally on the page. Read the book before you lace up your clown shoes.

Help me I'm once again remembering dotc, despite still being far in my reread, idk if I can handle it. At least Squilf's hope has women pov's and Leafpool, even if she dies :(. But dotc.... at least avos is just boring in the back half
it still astounds me there are no female povs in dotc..... like, there wasnt a female pov in arc 1 but thats because it was all one guy. how many of dotc's issues reside in the fact that all of the protagonists are male...
dotc was the new team's first outing with a full arc i think, with vicky writing book 1, and boy... did they start out with a bang............ the bang being bumble's corpse.....................
itll be ages and ages til i get to dotc when i eventually continue rereading back from arc 1 but just know... its looming over the distance... menacingly... (im still on "fire and ice", my current plan is to catch up to the present, then go back up to dotc's ending... which is still going slowly because tbh the wc hyperfix wore off sorryyyyy. have yall played the hit indie game in stars and time by insertdisc5. i think yall should play the hit indie game in stars and time by insertdisc5)

Note
I've recently REALLY attached myself to Clear Sky and Thunder from DotC because I've been rewriting the arc, and all the while, I have been experiencing a lot of really stressful things with my own father. I also feel connected with a semi-oc character I've written as a fusion of Bright Stream and Storm: Bright Storm, which was originally inspired by Bonefall, along with a lot of the foundations of my changes.
In my Rewrite Clear Sky's dad went missing and was never found. This was originally a Bonefall-inspired change, but now I feel deeply connected to it as my own thing because it's happening with my dad right now. He's been missing for over two months, and so far we've found nothing. Ive written Clear Sky to be sort of crushed by a feeling that nobody else cares, like his dad was brushed under the rug and forgotten, and i can share that feeling with him for somewhat more justifiable reasons from people around me.
Also in my Rewrite, Thunder feels a lot of disdain for Clear Sky for what he did to him and his mother, but can't help but grapple to the fantasy of a Good Dad and Happy Family, especially after him and himself nearly dying in that fire. I feel this really hard, and I added those feelings as a way of projecting, but I especially connect to it now that I know my dad could be gone for good after so long of never seeing him. Second, I wrote Thunder being disabled, just as Bonefall did, and I find the change really really important on that surface-level message against ableism, but I also write it as an analogy for being queer, and how i feel about my identity as such. This is because I wanted to be able to keep that message of yk don't be fucking ableist, but also include symbolic messages of homophobia and transphobia, because I refuse to just summon the actual issue out of thin air and make it a thing in my Rewrite.
Anyways, when it comes to Bright Storm herself, she's a bit of an outlier, because i dont relate her to me, i relate her to my mom, who fought with her relationship with my dad for years, getting in and out of it for her, my, and my siblings' sakes'. She seemingly also grappled with the idea of the Happy Family American Dream. I've written Bright Storm near the beginning of the books as being in that stage of confliction that my mom was when I was young (hopeful yet broken, and somewhat desperate), and over the arc she'll move on and recover just as my mom has, growing into herself and her confidence, and accepting she doesnt need Clear Sky, and doesnt have to forgive him for any reason, no matter how much he changes, because he still hurt her and her kit regardless. I see my own mother in her, so I'm really attached, there, too.
Basically what I'm saying is that while I feel really cringey about it, this series, especially DotC, has grown to be something I find a lot of connection to on a deeper level, and hold really close to me, especially in regards to how I Rewrite it. That's my confession.

The Medics of the Clans
I’m planning a rewrite of warrior cats so I’m messing around with how they work, nothing too out there but I like what I got going on.
Ok so somethings I’ve changed is the hole thing of you are an apprentice until your mentor dies, that’s silly and I’ll get to that in a minute.
The second thing I changed is the name, medicine cat as it’s an appropriation of North American indigenous cultures.
A lot of people have changed the name to Healer but personally I don’t like it, nothing against I just don’t care for it. So I’ve changed it to Medic because so much of warrior cats is fighting and battles, it makes sense to me it wound keep with that theme.
Different titles
I’ve gone and made little “titles” for different types of medics. These are the most common titles.
First is Medic Apprentice could also be known as the Medic’s apprentice or Medic in training, it’s exactly what it sounds like, a cat that is learning how to be a Medic.
The Second Medic is a fully trained medic who, most of the time is the youngest fully trained medic, it’s custom for there to be at least two Medics in the clan, the second is to listen and help the head medic
The Head Medic is the one who is in charge of the medicine den and everything that is going on, in and around it. The Head Medic takes on the role when the previous Head Medic retires or dies.
Senior Medic the oldest, most senior medic in the clan. Is normally retired but not always.
Tumblr media
A chart of Leafpool’s history as a Medic, going from bottom to top, just to give you an idea of how this kinda works.
A Disgraced medic is a cat that broken the code severely and has been stripped of the medic title (even when that code is severely unfair).
Field Medic are warriors that have basic training in medicine and healing, they are normally sent on battle patrols or patrols that have the possibility to turn violent.
Tumblr media
Hollyleaf and Brightheart are examples of Field Medics!
Tumblr media
Also important to remember that Senior medic does not always mean their the head medic!
Example of this is while Goosefeather was the senior medic of Thunderclan, he was retired and Featherwhisker was the Head Medic who was in full control of the Thunderclan medic den.
History of Medics
Ok this is very much a work in progress/ has ver little done and I’ll definitely be revisiting this later with a more in detail post, BUT, until then this is what I got so far-
I dont like a lot of stuff in moth flight’s vision, so much of it dose not make sense like, why would you split up your young kids when you didn’t have to? Why did any of the other medicine cats agree to such a dumb rule proposed by a very young, new to this job cat?? Wtf is going on here??
I really like the direction bonefall’s going with their rewrite of moth flight, it makes sooo much more sense to have the kits be older and have training in medicine and that’s why they were split up. I still don’t know how I’m going to tackle moth flight’s vision tho, but moth flight will definitely have a lot of Importance in the clan’s history.
Such as below! After a cat finishes their Medic training they receive a Luna moth wing.
Tumblr media
I will be doing a post on Starclan so hopefully she’ll show up there.
The Medic role will be invented in dotc.
The no mate no children role may not be invented until later in the timeline?? Maybe??
At the end of oots/avos the clans are going to get a bit of a soft reboot and the no mate no children rule is going to fuck off, much to the dismay of a handful cats who think the code is a vital part of clan life
Which brings us to the broken code where shit is hitting the fan but that’s for another post
Like I said it’s really a work in progress but I’ll put a link down here when I post more stuff about it!

The Skyfall AU Masterpost
This post will be an archive of sorts for the information posts for the Skyfall AU.
The goal of this AU is to hammer out a solid timeline for warrior cats, emphasize the downfall of Skyclan and the aftermath as key drivers in the plot, and better flesh out the characters and clan culture(s)! Additionally, I hope to address some of the more problematic elements of the canon text to make a narrative that is more satisfying and lives up to the potential the warriors world has. I also want to pin down a setting (at the moment I am leaning towards SW Scotland) for the books in order to make the names and environment consistent and accurate.
This AU will focus primarily on the the time frame from the fall of Skyclan to the end of OotS, since those are the books I read as a kid/teenager and are the books I have the best grasp of. I stopped reading the series consistently several years ago, but have re-read TPB recently. As such, I probably won't do much work on anything post-The Last Hope. Perhaps later, but certainly not anytime soon.
I hope to tackle DotC at some point, since I got about halfway through that arc before stopping reading the books.
This project is roughly broken into a few categories that are subject to change:
History of the Clans and Timeline Work:
Timeline from The Skyfall to Modern Day [DRAFT]
Clan Culture:
Skyclan's Cultural Evolution
Clan Ranks and Structure
How to Become Deputy by Clan
Plot:
Skyclan's Downfall
Thunderclan Civil War (aka The Skyblood Conflict)
Disbanding of Skyclan
Characters:
ThunderClan Cats
ShadowClan Cats
RiverClan Cats
WindClan Cats
Ancient SkyClan Cats
Modern SkyClan Cats
Rogues, Loners, and Housecats
Family Trees:
Power of Five
Skykin Foundations
ThunderClan
WindClan
RiverClan
ShadowClan
Modern SkyClan
Clanmew Posts:
SkyClan Ranks in Clanmew
Geography and Ecosystems:
Flora and Fauna of SW Scotland
The Forest Territories
Allegiances:
Into the Wild: ThunderClan
Into the Wild: ShadowClan
Into the Wild: WindClan
Into the Wild: RiverClan
Skyfall Asks + Responses:
Can Clerics have mates/kits
Will I write this?
Goal of the rewrite
This AU is inspired not only by the canonical warriors books that I read as a kid/teen but also by the work of @bonefall and @cryptidclaw, both blogs I absolutely love reading through because the ideas in their respective AUs/rewrites are superb and get the creative juices flowing. In particular, I plan on using the clanmew language system developed by bonefall and @troutfur and drawing from the clan culture bonefall has numerous posts about.

Hi! Wanted to stop by for a chat. I wonder if you have any thoughts/headcanons about the three DOTC brothers (Clear Sky, Gray Wing, Jagged Peak)?
so as a general rule, im not huge on dotc. BUT i have a rewrite! so heres some stuff about everyone in warriors rewound, heavy inspiration taken from @bonefall :
clear sky:
Tumblr media
a cruel, vindictive cat too selfish to see beyond his own claws. he is the main antagonist, the driving force of the plot. it is his orders that stop bright stream from going after gray wing the wise, after an eagle catches him. this is the first death he is responsible for—that of his own brother.
he opposes shaded moss as the sun trail leader, and hates tall shadow even more. his continued mistreatment of the sun trail cats causes them all to split off. bright stream sticks with him, but not for long.
when clear sky casts out jagged sky—his own brother—and mauls bumble half to death, bright stream rounds them up to go to tall shadows camp. she leaves with a warning—his selfishness would be his downfall.
his daughter, thunder stream, learns of him through other sun trail cats. she decides to join his group, just to get to learn his skills.
when tall shadow banishes bumble, arguing that turtle tails death means she has no place in the group, bumble seeks help from a few former friends in clear skys group. clear sky discovers her and attempts to maul her again, but thunder stream hauls him away. they leave to found the rainstorm guild alongside jagged sky, lightning tail, acorn swoop, sparrow tail, and pebble tail.
this is ultimately what causes the first battle. tall shadow is upset to have lost warriors, and confronts clear sky. he escalates the situation. tall shadow looks to her ally, wind, for help, while clear sky kidnaps several river duchy cats as hostages. bright stream attempts to ease tensions, but fails.
though clear sky was defeated here, he continues to get more power hungry and cause more problems. he falls to a small group of assassins, star flower at their head. she takes all of his 7 remaining lives.
gray wing:
Tumblr media
the wise storyteller of the ancients, beloved by all but his brother. he died at the claws of an eagle clear sky refused to save him from.
his death leaves a gap in the lives of many. a true haunting of the narrative.
he appears only twice to all of the clans. once at the end of the great battle, after bright stream calls it to a halt, there to impart advice or warnings to each leader through his stories. he tells long tales to all but clear sky. all he says to his brother is that his selfishness would be his downfall.
he helps thunder stream, his beloved niece, by guiding her to what would eventually be thunderclan territory.
his final appearance is at the end of the arc, in all nine lives ceremonies but clear skys.
he is remembered both as gray wing the wise, and as silverpelt.
jagged sky (jagged peak):
Tumblr media
a scrappy young tom with a heart of gold. he idolized his older brothers, and left with clear sky to follow the sun trail because of that admiration.
his blind faith in his brother would stop him from seeing clear skys true colors, banishing him for his newly amputated leg. he lives alone for a while, before bright stream and a very injured bumble find him. they rush to tall shadows camp to heal the two, and find solace for the pregnant bright stream.
he and bumble become very close, and he is the one to play matchmaker for turtle tail and she. upon turtle tails death due to tom, he’s enraged. moreso when tall shadow banishes bumble. he screams at everyone, before rushing out of camp to find her, several cats hot on his heels.
he comes across thunder stream just after she protects bumble, and they flee and establish the rainstorm guild. jagged sky gets several good hits in on clear sky during the first battle, leaving scars that look like those an eagles talons would leave.
he eventually confronts bright stream for not standing up for bumble. he knows shes better than that! bright stream ends up trying to make it up to bumble. shes forgiven, but nothing is forgotten
he and bumble share the position of proto-deputy
he remains deputy when bumble becomes bumblestar after thunderstars passing.

🔥 13 14 and 15!
13. worst blorboficiation
Gray Wing, full-stop. If you are doing it because you wanna remember him better, sure, go right ahead! But if you insist to me that canon!Gray Wing is anything but nasty, I'll redirect you to Bonefall's DOTC reading.
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
I don't really read warriors fanfics nowadays but back in the day there was SO much LeopardTiger. It wasn't a huge ship back then, people just kept including that weird "Leopardstar was hoping Tigerstar would be her mate" bit and running with it.
15. that one thing you see in fanart all the time
Making Mollies thin and "feminine", while making toms look much more diverse but still quite "masculine". I'm glad we have recognized this, and you're allowed to make them look however you want, just... Please recognize that we have very much slapped gender expectations onto them? Draw everyone as femme or masc as you want, just... I dunno, address internal biases. Ivypool doesn't need to be masculine just because she is "tough and badass".
Draw Briarlight as a gym bro, she was canonically ripped.

30?! 6? sorry i will hear you out but the years being so short surprised me, esp considering all the shit with past talk in the early arcs where they made everything sound really ancient and the mentions of Great Cats like a lion, tiger, etc. i know it's probably been retconned in canon since but still, only 30 years was quite shocking and 6 as a lifespan. that's only abt 5 generations of cats give or take that's lived at the arc 1 territories
I can't do math, I might change it to 40 years. To be fair Rusty would've joined around 2003. And TRUE, the clans being created and the dawn of the clans and creation of the warrior code and what not do sound ancient however you also have to remember DOTC canonically still had cars, and cats in collars and silver trash cans, I think. So, I don't know... also I'm only referring to the actual migration of the Mountain cats to the Forest, not how the mountain cats came to be or anything.
As for the life expectancy, I think it's somewhat fair considering the period.
Grey Wing canonically was only 2 years old when he died. TWO YEARS. He had full grown children at this time too, so having an average lifespan being 6 is in my opinion, is generous.
Here's my rough idea/timeline of events;
ANCIENT ERA (1970-1975)
-> Great migration (Mountain cats go to the Forest) -> Early Wars (No one really likes the Mountain cats. Clear Sky attempts to make his own group and is beat up by One-Eye.) -> Ends with the Blood Bath of Five Trees. (And the death of a god.)
NEW ERA / DISCOVERY ERA (1975-1986)
-> Clans are 'created' and the first warrior code is implemented. -> Moth Flight born + Religious beliefs solidified. -> Moth Flight creates the Healer Vow. No family allowed. -> Era ends with the destruction of Skyclan
SKYCLAN PERISHS (1987)
-> Their old camp/territory gets turned into a dog park. Most cats relocate but some join the other clans. -> The event was foretold by Moth Flight, thus giving more believability to Starclan and Healers.
THE "GOLDEN" ERA (1987-1999)
-> Somewhat peaceful, since the clans have more territory and resources without Skyclan. -> Other warrior code changes are made and built upon. -> Era ends with Mapleshade's Vegence and the creation of Queen's Vow, literally same concept and idea from bonefall's redux.
MODERN ERA (2000-2003)
-> Fighting between everyone, Riverclan vs Thunderclan, Windclan Vs Shadowclan. -> RUSTY JOINS!

THE BONEFALL DOTC NOTES
Because I can't keep my mouth shut and the Erins can't be trusted to write a good super edition.
So to start with, I'll remind all the kitties: The Bonefall Rewrite is a Fix-It Redux of the Warrior Cats series, attempting to keep major events the same while reducing or eliminating pointlessly uncomfortable aspects. It generally has Four Goals;
To make a more thematically consistent WC series, with consistent cat politics and a conclusive anti-authoritarian stance.
To grow the culture of the Clans, including building the groups they interact with into full societies in their own right.
To expand on supernatural elements, by giving StarClan more powers, renovating the Dark Forest, and even making entities that exist beyond the Clans.
To be cool as fuck. Totally radical additional action scenes, Bodacious familial drama, gnarly battles with cats retaining fighting styles. I'm fallin' ASLEEP! Won't SOMEONE blow up a bulldozer already?!
This is relevant because these principles apply heavily to all other arcs; but this is the one arc that I have promised to not stay faithful to.
That means that I will not feel bound to preserve major events of DotC. In any other arc, a major character death would be preserved and I would simply try to strengthen it as much as possible. Here? If I say Turtle Tail lives, she's LEAPING out of the grave like baby's first necromancy. If I say the Medicine Cat's Vow is completely different, Moth Flight is tripping over herself to do it for me.
Dawn of the Clans is the very origin of the Clan society I care so much for writing, and a point of endless frustration for me as a long-time fan who bought and read the field guides as they came out. I refuse to allow so much of the basis of the Clans be poofed into existence by StarClan.
I'm gonna write the mythological origin of the Clans that I always wanted, and utterly obliterate as much of the sexism and abuse apologia this arc is known for as possible. Chainsaw time.
Below the cut:
1. Events I DO want to keep 2. Big Redux Thoughts
Let's talk about the events I DO want to keep.
Clear Sky is the Antagonist
He's playing the role he was meant to. I have no desire to even try to "fix" his ridiculous 'redemption arc.' This is a controlling, brutal coward who covers up his insecurities in violence and tyranny. Skystar is the basis of the Might-Makes-Right culture that comes to be from this point on.
The Battle of Fivetrees
In the Bonefall Rewrite, there were once five trees at Fourtrees. The First Battle is integral to the mythology, and will involve a five-Clan battle of some kind.
Additionally, this site was now also an ancient shrine of some sort; the First Battle killed so many cats that it summoned One Eye.
One Eye and Star Flower
But... One Eye is now a God. One of four seasonal deities, along with Midnight, Rock, and Sol. Chronologically, this is his next appearance after Hollyleaf's Century. It's important to the rest of the rewrite that he is killed in this incarnation by a cat who is Tribeborn, not Clanborn, as he goes on to haunt the Tribe in the future as a result.
Star Flower serves him in a high position of some sort, but if she's the daughter of his vessel, a demigod, or a nature entity like Brokenstar hasn't been decided yet. In any case, she is safe and being expanded significantly.
River Ripple and the Park Cats
We're gonna have to see what River's super edition decides for him. We'll have a look at what it adds to the lore, what it subtracts, what it does right, and what we're nuking from orbit.
If his super edition makes the Park Cats show up as villains, I'm goring it like a bull. I am trampling it like a tap-dancing horse. I am preemptively blowing up the idea with my mind.
The Park Cats are, in any case, going to become a full culture that humans destroyed in some fashion.
Gray Wing' Adoptions and Asthma
He will be keeping all of his adoptions, especially of Thunder. In fact, I do not want him to have biokits. There's no need. He raised Pebble Heart, Sparrow Fur, and Owl Eyes. 4 kits is enough; Slate did not also need babies.
He is also keeping his asthma, retaining smoke damage.
Redux Ideas, both confirmed and tentative.
The Sun Trail
To begin with, the Tribe was not overpopulated. That is not the reason why they left nor the reason why they were starving. I'm rejecting an 'overpopulation' narrative on the face of it. These cats are too coded as people for me to ever accept it in this series.
Disgusting to see this idea in a series already teeter-tottering on the edge of being pro-eugenics by way of being so abelist.
Instead, there was a blockage of some sort in the Tribe river, the one that starts in the mouth of the cave. Drought lead to famine; it was beyond anyone's control.
Clear Sky and the Sun Trail Pioneers were seeking the water at the end of the dry river heading south. The Sun-scorched riverbed was a Trail.
Thunder has Three Legs; Jagged Peak Died
Clear Sky kicked his brother out into the wilderness for breaking his leg, an injury that should not have been deadly, because he hated the idea of 'burdens.' He condemns him to starvation. This is something that needs immediate consequence.
Gray Wing and Storm leave with him to keep him alive, but leaf bare claims him regardless. Storm's kittens are born weakened by the stress of this ordeal; Thunder, the only survivor, has a leg missing in the exact place where Jagged Peak broke his.
When Gray and Storm return seeking help from Clear Sky, he rejects his kitten in front of everyone. It's cruel irony, like the Stars are trying to teach him a lesson, and he rejects it.
THIS is when the Clans split, as the group fractures between the cats who refuse to accept their leader's cruelty, and those who stay in the bounty of the Forest and play by Clear Sky's rules.
I may be willing to spare Jagged Peak. But, narratively, I think it is stronger for Thunder to functionally take all of his roles and axe the redundant character.
The Medicine Cat Vow's Origin is Completely Different
In a nutshell; Moth Flight and her kittens were the original medics. The other Clans tried to steal them to have their own medics. In response, they went willingly, but vowed to each other to never have family to serve medicine above the Clan.
Generations later, during the exile of SkyClan, this Vow was corrupted, completely flipped on its head to justify controlling medicine cats who did not abide the personal vow, to shut them up about the Exile of SkyClan. It was not created in its modern form.
This law, in fact, directly creates Ripplestar's rebellion.
The Great Unfridgening
Of Bumble, Turtle Tail, Bright Stream, and Storm, at least three will survive.
Bumble is confirmed. If you want to kill her again you'll have to kill me too. I'm considering Turtle Tail still dying to retrieve her kittens from their abusive ex, so Gray Wing can adopt the kits and raise them with Bumble as a godfather.
Of Bright Stream and Storm, I'm considering both of them staying alive. They can get some foundational roles.
River Ripple Can't Just Hide
Bothers me that River Ripple is able to avoid carnage by staying behind the river for the most part. ALL FIVE CLANS will have to take part in the Battle of Fivetrees. He won't like it, but River's Clan WILL get dragged into it, kicking and screaming
Slash Gone
Society has progressed past the need for Slash's rogue group. It's One Eye's Cultists or Clan Conflict, or it's NOTHING. NO MORE RANDOM ROGUE VILLAINS. NO. NO.
Will some of Slash's rogues show up? Sure. As One Eye Cultists. And if they're organized they're organized under Star Flower. No more creepy ass Slash and his "promised bride," ick, ew, gross, no.

Clear Sky: "My kingdom, your REAL dictator is back! I laid my life on the line to free you from the guy I let into the Clan against all warnings. It was the 2nd or 3rd worst mistake I've made in the past year and I vow I will spend the rest of the afternoon atoning. Yes, all of you are permanently scarred with the tyrant's tattoo and one of you died horribly of illness, but I've learned a valuable lesson and Petal was a woman anyway, so are you ready to accept my unquestionable authority again :3 ?"

character everyone gets wrong BUT u can't say anyone from mapleshades vengeance (bc then it's too easy)
ARRRRRGH CURSE YOU ANON YOU TOOK THE OBVIOUS ANSWERS
okay uuuh. crowfeather for one. hes not this sad tragic emo guy bullied by the world hes a spiteful abusive asshole who decided to make his fridged “woman he liked” (NOT EVEN HIS GIRLFRIEND. IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS HE BARELY KNEW HER) everybody elses problem. i see comments all the time on crowfeather maps like “omg finally one that doesnt demonize him!” and im like WHERE. WHERE IS THE CONTENT DEMONIZING CROWFEATHER. I WANT IT FOR PERSONAL REASONS. the reason i hate this guy so much is that people worship the ground he walks on and wax poetic about how hes soooo complex and maybe he could be as a protag turned abuser but they also deny hes abusive so idk where theyre getting any goddamn complexity.
moonflower. i cant find the big analysis post i made about her but tl;dr shes more than bluestars dead mom. she was somebody who ended up with a schism in her family relationships due to grooming and her severed and strained relationship with her brother is genuinely tragic. the two siblings were basically set up to hate each other and its fucked up.
breezepelt. people are being more normal about him now but i still remember that comic where crowfeather ~adopts and is such a good dad to harestar~ and it opens with a joke about how both of his sons are ~crazy~ and how they ~unfairly blame him~ when crowfeather literally made his son feels alone and isolated through his emotional abuse, leaving him open to be groomed by the dark forest.
curlfeather. points at the wcrp forums. be normal about her Or Else.
star flower. you can thank @bonefall for opening my eyes to this one (seriously go check out ALL of their dotc analysis posts, theyre so good). she gets treated like shit and used by basically eveybody and then gets blamed for being a victim of abuse and grooming, even by the authors. its fucked up.

Absolutely sobbing over your praise. I am but a mere and chaotic writer of kitty angst. I'm so glad you're loving it because it's just- man, I like writing it. I honestly was just taking from the prompts and bonefall's snippets. It's been like - gosh, about 9ish years or so? - since I read DotC.
I am 20% sorry for putting you through this, 50% thankful, and 30% ready to do it part 3.
The part about Turtle Tail not saying sorry was something I subconsciously hammered in my brain. I didn't want her to apologize because that wasn't the goal. Turtle Tail's self-loathing of herself blinded her. She hated what she did, so she beat herself down and tried to fix this situation with more hate at first. Then, she threw all of her insecurities out there in hopes of explaining herself.
In my mind, her fatal flaw is that she thinks too self-centeredly. Notice how Turtle Tail, while she admits her flaws, thinks that's her apology. She thinks that pointing out how much Bumble means to her is apologizing.
Not once did she say, "I'm sorry for everything I said to you."
But several times she did say what she thinks and how she feels.
There's no empathizing with how horribly wounded Bumble is.
There's no apologizing for breaking her promises.
It's just hatred for herself and the world.
It was something I knew subconsciously, but it hit me when I checked for myself that she didn't. I was shocked despite my brain knowing before writing what the last sentence of the Bumble part would be.
Turtle Tail told herself she changed, but did she? Was this truly change?
Stay tuned for more of me as, once it is not 2AM and I am not running on questionably made tea, I will return for your ankles.
You've done this to me anon. YOU DID THIS TO ME
But in all seriousness I am ready for part 3. I really like the fact that, yeah, TurtleTail only spewed out self-loathing comments about herself, unknowingly making the situation revolve around her and not her… you know… dying friend. I feel extra bad for both of them in the situation (seeing as they are dotc women and get the short end of the stick), but extra EXTRA bad for Bumble. And this story exemplifies it, imagine Bumble just waiting for TurtleTail to actually say "Sorry", hoping that she does, silently begging that she does. TurtleTail acknowledge the horrible thing that led to this and says that she had been thinking back on it, but, she missed the most important part of an apology, the apologizing itself.
TurtleTail had lost the opportunity to change in Bumble's eyes. Bumble pitied TurtleTail's self loathing, she knew that TurtleTail's "apology" was unknowingly focusing all of the attention back onto TurtleTail without that bullshit "I wish you could have been happy with us but you could never have been a wild cat" canon line we get, like, damn TurtleTail what a fucking line to tell your dying friend. But in this story, TurtleTail is truly hurting, so badly. She genuinely feels bad for what she had done (or lack thereof) and she wants to atone for it, but her apology doesn't stick, it's not really an apology without the sorry. So it gives you a mixed perspective of TurtleTail, not so much morally grey though, I'm sure there's a word for it.
I love the open-endedness of the two stories (especially the Bumble pov one), does Bumble truly forgive TurtleTail? Will TurtleTail give a proper sorry? Will they reunite when they die and that's when TurtleTail apologizes? Will they try again? GAGH, it's all so great! I'm really excited for part 3, don't stress yourself writing it anon I'd gladly wait weeks and months for it

My phone won't let me open the rules and I'm pretty sure repetitive confessions are deleted but I also don't remeber if anyone's talked about him before so uhh yeah
I hate Gray Wing DoTC. I think it's an opinion sort of getting popular because of Bonefall maybe, but I hate him so much I've deliberately killed him and replaced his POV in my Rewrite simply to not have to expose myself to him, following suit with Bonefall in that regard. Obviously I know he isn't real so it's not that serious but he's just so controlling, childish, and arrogant while the people around him (and himself, and a lot of people irl) act likes he's so humble and sweet and angelic. He isn't compelling, and he comes off much more like an asshole pretending he's nice than anything else he's supposed to, and that's not what DoTC is about, so I had to lean the other way.
There was no way to please everyone with his character when he's practically two different people, so I let him be wise for awhile so the long-term sentiment of his self could stand, and then let his death symbolize something bigger for the whole of the arc.
Usually I let my characters be flawed and explore those flaws because characters are meant to emulate people (usually) but there's just something uniquely irritating about him and the way people percieve him that ruins even the idea of him for me. Even Clear Sky got better treatment than him in my Rewrite (as in I kept him alive to be involved, partially because he actually adds shit to the story)
Anyways yeah I hate him and I'd really like to know tbh what makes so many people like him so much? Not that I'm angry I'm just kinda confused, I guess? Is there something I'm missing?
