Navigating the CA Final New Syllabus: Understanding Pass Percentages and Success Strategies
Tumblr media
The Chartered Accountancy (CA) Final examination, administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), is the ultimate milestone for aspiring chartered accountants. With the recent introduction of the CA Final New Syllabus, candidates are facing new challenges and opportunities. Understanding the pass percentages and devising effective strategies are crucial for success in this rigorous examination.
CA Final New Syllabus: The CA Final New Syllabus was introduced to align with international accounting standards and to ensure that candidates are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills required in the dynamic field of accountancy. The updated syllabus includes contemporary topics such as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Ind AS, and advanced auditing techniques, reflecting the evolving needs of the profession.
Pass Percentages: CA final pass percentage is a reflection of the overall performance of candidates and the difficulty level of the examination. Historically, the pass percentage has varied, influenced by factors such as syllabus changes, exam pattern modifications, and the preparedness of candidates. With the introduction of the new syllabus, there may be fluctuations in pass percentages as candidates adapt to the revised curriculum.
Strategies for Success:
Early Preparation: Start preparing for the CA Final examination well in advance, allowing sufficient time to cover the entire syllabus comprehensively. Allocate dedicated study hours and create a realistic study schedule to stay on track.
Understand the Syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the CA Final New Syllabus and its nuances. Identify the weightage of each topic and prioritize areas that require more attention. Stay updated with any revisions or amendments made by ICAI.
Practice Regularly: Practice solving past exam papers, mock tests, and sample questions to gauge your preparation level and improve time management skills. Practicing under exam-like conditions helps in reducing anxiety and increasing confidence during the actual examination.
Seek Guidance: Enroll in a reputed coaching institute or seek guidance from experienced mentors who can provide valuable insights and strategies for tackling the examination effectively. Joining study groups or online forums can also facilitate collaborative learning and knowledge sharing.
Revision and Self-assessment: Allocate sufficient time for revision before the examination and consolidate your understanding of key concepts. Conduct self-assessment tests to identify weak areas and focus on improving them. Utilize revision notes and mnemonic techniques to aid memory retention.
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Take care of your physical and mental well-being during the preparation phase. Maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and ensure an adequate amount of sleep. Managing stress and maintaining a positive mindset is essential for optimal performance. Conclusion: The CA Final examination is a rigorous test of knowledge, skills, and perseverance. With the introduction of the CA Final New Syllabus, candidates need to adapt their preparation strategies to meet the evolving demands of the profession. By understanding pass percentages and implementing effective study techniques, aspiring chartered accountants can increase their chances of success in this prestigious examination. Remember, dedication, discipline, and determination are key to achieving your goals in the CA Final examination.

#TomcatTails
#TomcatTuesday
“Well whattya know? A DMZ!!”
The following story occurred during my time in the VF-154 Black Knights. We were based on Atsugi, Japan and part of Carrier Air Wing FIVE onboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). The Kitty Hawk was the last conventional aircraft carrier (non-nuclear) and was actually quite good at what she did, despite her age (almost 40 in 1999).
I was headed to the Black Knights as a Department Head (Lieutenant Commander) and on the way I went to Forward Air Controller (Airborne) or FAC(A) school. This qualification was relatively new for the Tomcat and we needed at least 3 qualified crews per squadron. My RIO “Skippy” and I got the nod to go to the school on the way to Japan, which consisted of some school in the deserts of Marine Corps Station Twenty-Nine Palms for the ground portion, and then working with the Oceana Weapons School on a good portion of the flying syllabus. We eventually got our final graduation hop after we got to Japan, but that hop deserves its own #TomcatTail, so I’ll leave it there.
What the FAC(A) does is provide Close Air Support (CAS) to troops on the ground, working with a ground FAC to target the hostiles. In a nutshell, the FAC(A) will have some “assets”, generally sections of Tomcats or Hornets arranged in a “stack” separated by a thousand feet holding some distance away from the hot area (10 or 15 miles or so). As the ground dudes generate a target (building, vehicle, people, etc.) they’ll describe where it is and talk the FAC(A) overhead to get his eyes on it. Once the FAC(A)’s got it, he calls in his assets in singles or sections and they’ll follow the route the FAC(A) gives them to arrive in the target area, where the FAC(A) will then start talking the assets eyes onto the target.
He's also maneuvering to get in a position behind the asset and will eventually follow that asset as he rolls in on the target and if the asset appears to be aligned on the correct target, the FAC(A) will say “cleared hot” and the asset is then cleared to engage.
Now that’s the “low tech version” where the FAC(A) is doing max work to get the bombs on the bad guys. Later on, we were also able to lase targets with our LANTIRN pod, or the ground dudes could lase with their mules, so we could drop more accurate PGMs. You still had to follow the guy to make sure he was properly aimed before release. While I didn't have the honor of participating, after OEF/OIF started Tomcats made their bread and butter in the FAC(A) mission due to long on station time and lot’s of “spotting ordnance” (500lb bombs). All in all, it was one of my favorite missions and was always a real hoot……..especially at night with goggles on!
For the purposes of this story, our CAS training was going to be off the Kitty Hawk and to conduct some “Korean Contingent” training for when a hundred thousand screaming NORKs started breaking south. It was also a little show of force because….we can. The scenario is that we’re going to be working a “notional target area” about 30 miles south of the DMZ and me and Skippy would have 2 sections of Hornets and Tomcats (4 jets total) to “work the battle problem”. It was by no means a large exercise, just some fairly simple CAS training to keep those skills honed. Basic holding points and patterns, simulated 500lb bombs, fairly simple 9 Line Briefs.
A 9 Line is the basic information the FAC(A) delivers to the assets and contains Initial Point, Heading to Target, Distance to Target, Target Elevation, Target Description, Target Location (lat/long, grid, or description), Type of Mark (rocket, white phosphorous), Friendly Location, and Egress direction. When you read it over the radio, it might sound like “Alpha…..010°…..15 nm….500…….blue roofed building…..large intersection…..talk-on…..500 meters north….190°.”
We brief up (FAC does the brief), man up and bang off the boat and eventually find ourselves holding 35nm south of the Korean DMZ. Neat! What could possibly go wrong! After me and Skippy take a quick tour of the target area 5 miles to our north (nothing special….just a small town with some hills to the west, a few big roads, etc.), we come back and start preparing some 9 lines. The “stack” is established 10 miles south of us with the jets as a stack of four singles starting at 18,000 feet on up. The key training here is for us to practice our craft (9 lines, talk-ons, maneuvering) and for the strikers to work some basic CAS skills (taking 9 lines, navigating, visually acquiring the talked-on target, rolling in parameters, etc.). Just another day in Naval Aviation!
It looks about like this:
______________________ DMZ
Ӧ Target
Me and Λ
Skippy
The Stack Λ Λ Λ Λ
Hornet guys are going first because….well, they’re Hornets and they’re almost out of gas already (kidding….mostly). Skippy and I devise a good 9 line and we call the first guy in from the bottom of the stack. We pick him up 6 mile from the target area and we roll in trail at a half mile. As we talk him on, he has a little trouble finding “the house with the blue roof”. As anyone that’s flown over Korea knows, damn near EVERY building has a blue roof! And no, they’re not all IHOPs. We eventually get him lined up and he rolls in; we follow just behind, check his alignment on the correct blue-roofed building and give the “SIMULATE CLEARED HOT”. A quick sim delivery and he’s pulling off and left to 190° and we pitch off right to go back to our station.
We cycle the next Hornet through on a similar pattern, then work the two Tomcats so now everyone has one run. Those runs are pretty uneventful but good training in a dynamic environment, and by this time we’ve learned to NOT use “the blue roofed building” as a target. Hey, what can I say? We’re trainable. Our plan was to bang out two more with the Hornets, kiss them off to head back to the boat, and wrap; up with the Tomcats.
Now it’s time for the fourth run. We take one more trip over the target area to select some new targets and then position ourselves south of the target area to read the 9 line. Once complete, the first Hornet calls “pushing” and Skippy gets them on radar (RIO is REALLY busy with FAC(A) and so is the Pilot). First thing he notices is that he’s not quite heading in the direction of the target, off by maybe 10° to the east, heading maybe 020°. Hmm. The Hornet is trundling along and keeping that direction, making no corrections to the west (left) to put the target area on their nose.
After a few minutes, Skippy calls out for them to “check left, 30” to get him to steer toward our target. No response, no course change. He says it again and the Hornet comes up with a “all good” or something. By this time they’re abeam the target, heading north-ish, and are 30 miles south of the DMZ. Oh shit. He's had some kind of NAV failure. Skippy gets more strident with a call like “target is your left nine o’clock, come left hard”. By this time I’ve positioned us about 2 miles in trail and we’re watching him trundle unaware toward the DMZ.
This is gonna be bad. Real bad. The story of a couple US helos getting fired on for flying over the DMZ years back comes to mind and I’m thinking “Hey, we’re about to get famous.” By this time, he's 15 miles south of the DMZ and the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up. One more strident “come left hard” call with no response and then Skippy shouts to “BREAK SOUTH, BREAK SOUTH, DMZ TEN MILES NORTH!!!”. At that point, I think the pilot snaps out of it and actually looks out the window (he was probably navigating heads down on a bad system) and we can see his jet break hard right and flow south like a scalded dog. We do the same, but not before checking out the DMZ in all its back-side-of-the-moon splendor.
There are areas where it’s not quite as obvious, but when you look at it from 20,000 feet the actual line of the DMZ is easily discernable in the landscape. Kind of like the US border in the southwest. You can see it. Which is funny because guess how my friend “Baja” got his callsign after an errant low-level flight near the US/Mexico border?
We flowed south and decided that, discretion being the better part of valor, we should probably CNX the rest of the mission that day and maybe we can sneak back and no one noticed. After getting back aboard the boat, the debrief was interesting because the lead Hornet pilot was in fact fiddle-f**king with his NAV system and when he looked out the window (the canopy is clear for a reason, kids), he thought “HolyShitTheDMZ!!!!” and broke hard. All in all, no harm now foul. We all survived the day but did have to let our CAG know what happened. He was very cool about the whole thing, especially since his “phone didn’t ring. I’m sure the Hornet dudes got max grief in the squadron (“Magellan”, etc.).
The only better end to that story I could think of is if the ship was serving Korean BBQ for dinner, but they weren’t. Sliders again. Not great, but not bad. We can live on Sliders.🍔

touch starved anon
Hi! I’m an anon already but I’m kinda shy to admit this as my other anon,
But, I think I’m touch starved? I don’t get the “feel good” endorphins when I hug my parents (usually because I’m not allowed to say no) but like, when my friends hug me and stuff it feels so lovely that I could cry. I don’t actually know how to be less surface level friends with my friends so I can stay stuff like this, but I really care about them all so much. I just want to hang out with them more. I just want to hug them more.
Hi!
I think the thing with touch is that like...it feels the nicest when it comes from people that you trust. So maybe it's that you trust your friends more than your parents? Which makes sense, seeing as the touch with your friends is a choice.
If you're not comfortable talking with your friends about it, remember that touch doesn't just have to be hugs! You can just sit close together, rest a head or hand on someone's shoulder, share a seat, link elbows, hold hands....that can all be platonic, and be physically grounding. Maybe try initiating some small touch and see how it's received? (pay attention to their reactions to make sure they're okay with it, obviously) You can also just ask "hey, can I have a hug?" without explaining the why. It's okay to ask for a hug :)

thoughts anon to exam results anon (slight TW...mentions of SI, unhealthy coping)
Hi Cas it's thoughts anon and I don't know if you even remember me but I'm writing about exam results anon
I think the exams they are referring to is the CBSE/ICSE Boards Examination for standards 10 and 12 (majorly Indian education boards) and I took the exams this year myself and the results came out 13th May. I was in tenth standard when I took the exams (like a sophomore, I think) and now I'm in eleventh (junior). And yes for us these exams are a pretty big deal (the twelfth standard ones are an even BIGGER deal). They, like, decide our future with no retakes or refunds. (I mean you can retake them... After a year of sitting with 10th standard students that are younger than you, learning the syllabus ALL OVER AGAIN and that's only if you fail... So.) The exams are designed to help you pass but the rest is your battle. Strangely though (as is the case with exam results anon) I got higher marks in subjects I'm not terribly good at and lower (than my usual grade) in my best subjects.
Also parents are pretty strict on this matter. My parents are different (my dad is non-existent and my mom is a college dropout). They literally expected me to fail lmao but no I got an average of 85 percent which isn't really good but I have to live with it now so :/
Anyway the situation is that parents in India are really strict about boards and it's like. Those numbers do define you. To a certain extent they define the love you receive from your family and your friends. If you get less than 80 percent then you're toast (ie you'll never get into good colleges and you'll basically never get a high-paying job) and if you FAIL... It could mean disownment. I've literally heard of people within my old school who offed themselves over these numbers but it was all covered up in the news as 'mysterious but tragic deaths'. I know. It's fucked up. It's a horrible reality. The exams themselves are simple but high stakes (like I said, they help you pass but passing is not all that matters) so there is a LOT of toxicity within the existing society about getting good grades.
There are only two types of parents in this aspect. The kind who pressurize their kids to an unholy they-can-barely-keep-up-with-it degree (like hitting and shouting at them and pushing them into too many private tuitions) and the ones who don't (because of work and all that) but wish they did. They pin their frustrations on their kids and say cruel things in the heat of the moment and you can see it, in real time, that those words register in their heads and they will remember it forever. Exam results anon seems like a pretty good student from what I can tell and they don't deserve what their mother is telling them. Feeling like everyone would be better off without your existence is something I understand. Feeling like your mother should have a better child is also something I get. For advice the only thing I've really done about my nastier emotions is shove it way down but I don't think that's very helpful (as advice but in practicality it works really well) so I'm just sending them love and support!
Hi! This is so kind of you <3 And wow....this absolutely sucks and I feel like the way people approach this isn't healthy at all...I can't imagine the pressure. And the fact that PARENTS act like this...it's frustrating. I get that there's a societal and cultural aspect involved, but I can;t imagine pushing a kid that hard.
I get what you mean about the tests being so high-stakes, but I do want to stick with my opinion that you are worth so much more than a test score. It's awful that people don't act that way, but as a PERSON, you are so much more.
Don't bottle up your emotions, though! Please talk about them <3 Vent in my inbox if you need to!

rainbow hearts anon
Hi cas rainbow hearts anon here! You were 100% correct with me needing a space to vent and yes I sorta do know that it will get better so I'm just really holding on for when that day comes. About the talking to someone I have thought about talking to our school counselor but I tried to earlier in the year for other issues (ik my life is so easy and problemfree) but it just ended with them telling me they would call me later and they never did and I went like three times. And he's also just really focused on the people he already knows and people he's talked to since forever so it's just another place where I feel like I don't fit so I've sorta removed that as an option unless I'm really desperate and feel like I absolutely need it. I've been doing a bit better since I sent the ask obviously none of my problems have gone away but I'm in the part of the cycle where I just had a breakdown and am now ready for more stuff to hold onto untill I eventually break again. But fun stuff now because my life isn't really all that bad my friends want to go to the fair and they invited me to go so I'm super happy but at the same time not because it is 35 dollars and I wanted to give more money to my mom or use it to buy their presents but I think I'm just going to go to the fair and give my mom some of my birthday money. And while I'm on that topic my birthday is like a month away and I am sooooo excited because I will finally get my hair dyed purple which has been my dream since forever so I'm super excited and really happy that all the work I did to convince my parents is soon going to pay off. So yeah thank you for responding to my last ask it felt so nice having someone listen to my problems and not feel judged 💜🩶🩷🧡💙🖤🩵💚🤎🤍💛❤️
Hi <3
Ugh, I'm sorry the guidance counselor wasn't very good. I hope you know that has nothing to do with you. Sounds like they don't do their job very well. Please know you're still always welcome to vent here <3
The fair sounds so fun! And purple hair, too? I have purple hair, it's the best :D If you have the money, can I suggest getting some purple pigmented conditioner (different than purple shampoo/conditioner for blondes)? It helps the purple stay longer. SO worth it.
Happy early birthday!
___
ace qpr anon
hi!! i'm here for advice and to rant :3
so i'm a high school freshman, i'm fourteen and i have no gender (afab). i'm in a qpr with my bestie who's also nb and fourteen, and we're both ace. the idea of anything yk sexual grosses me out, like even kissing and i have kind of a hard time with physical touch i don't initiate. my partner is really touchy tho and i'm kind of an angry person by nature (i blame my dad) and i'm worried that i'll blow up on them by accident if they try to press me for anything. i'm worried about it solely because i have been known to blow up at people i love and be really nice and kind to people i don't purely because i feel comfortable enough to actually express myself with people i love. i really love them /p and i don't want to lose them but i'm worried. yk. sorry to make you read all this and i hope you have a great day :)
Hi!
Okay so it sounds like both of you have some work to do here. First, if you set a boundary about not wanting to be touched, your partner needs to respect that, NO EXCEPTIONS. Your body is your body, and if your partner isn't respecting that, it might be that this partnership isn't healthy. Make sure you set those boundaries, and don't back down. You deserve that respect.
As far as getting angry...I'm gonna be very loving here when I say that just as you have control over your body, you have control over your actions. I ALSO can get angry easily, so I'm not judging you at all, please know. And recognizing that is a great first step! But now it's time to work on it. Your dad may have taught you anger, but you're old enough to not continue the cycle. If your partner does break those boundaries, you need to practice ways of saying something that's firm but KIND. Because you're right, your anger could cause you to lose them, but that responsibility is on you, as well.
I think two things I'd try is first: if you're feeling angry, step away. It's okay to take a moment to step back from the situation, knowing you might say something you regret. I do it all the time (taking a step back) and it makes a HUGE difference.
Second, practice what to say in that situation. Have the words ready. That way, it's easier to find them in the moment.
Sending you love and luck!

exam results anon
hey cas! This is exam results anon....
I talked about getting less-than-expected marks in English. To answer your question, wwe can only retake the test if we fail the subject, so i can't retake it.
But good news is, I glt into one of the most prestigious college in my state. Like it's super hard to get into it without recommendations and stuff. I had that college as my second choice but they called me for a test and personal interview a few days back. They were very impressed with my writing ability and I kinda told them that I write poetry and stuff, so they were pretty happy to offer me a merit seat in the morning batch.
So I pretty much shut people up by getting into a college without depending on anything other than my talent. My mom finally told me out loud that she's proud of me.
Thank you for your kind words in my last anon ask. I actually made that ask shortly after I got my results, so when i got into that college i was excited to tell you that everything worked out.
Thank you soo much cas.
With love, exam results anon<3
Oh my god this is AMAZING! I am so proud of you, and I hope you're proud of yourself!
As far as your mom being proud...I'm glad she is. But remember that pride in yourself is most important. You worked hard the whole time, and you should be proud of your test results AND your talents. You sound like an amazing student and an amazing person.
I hope you have a great time in college!

Event: Repository Technique Workshop
Tumblr media
Published: 3-4-2024 | Updated: N/A WHEN: FRIDAY, MARCH 8TH, 10AM EST WHERE: Sim 2 Shenanigan’s Discord Video will be uploaded to the youtube channel afterwards. SYLLABUS In this workshop, I’ll show you how to repository objects (not clothing) to a single mesh – but why repository?
It applies recolors for the mesh to ALL objects linked to it.
That means fewer recolors to make and fewer files overall in your game.
It means more matching CC objects in your game.
I’ll show you two methods: (1) using SimPE and following Huge Lunatic’s “The Repository Technique” tutorial, and (2) using Pick n’ Mix’s new Repository Wizard. DETAILS – REQUIRED MATERIALS: If you want to work on your own repo’s during the workshop, have the following materials handy:
Huge Lunatic’s “The Repository Technique” tutorial
Pick n’ Mix’s new Repository Wizard
An object you want to use as a mesh for other objects (aka the thing you wanna repo stuff to – commonly called mesh, parent, root, master, or donor file). I use parent/mesh.
An object you want to link to the mesh (commonly called repo, child, reference, slave, or dependent file). I use repo.
EXAMPLES My Neon Lites Pack 001 (Simmons, 2023) collection uses the repository technique – lighting objects are repo’d to a neon light from the Nightlife EP. This project was delayed for years until I found this add-on template (PineappleForest, 2022). I was NOT about to make that many recolors for every single mesh in the set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Gallery Collection 001 (Simmons, 2024) contains one mesh file and several repo’s. I made 30 recolors for the mesh and reposited the other five paintings to it. Otherwise, I would’ve had to make all 30 recolors SIX times in total. That’s at least 150 more files you’d need to put in your game!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Nook and Niches series (BuggyBooz, 2012), the Super Stone Set (Frac, 2017), Jonesi's Bed Blanket and it's many repo's (Jonesi via HugeLunatic, 2009), and my Repository Pack (Simmons, 2023) sets use the technique. It allows sharing of texture materials across dozens of objects (dozens upon dozens and counting!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Objects in the Bella Brand series (#co2bellabrand) rely HEAVILY on repo’s – there are over 25 sets and hundreds of files to choose from – and there would be 3 or 4 times as many (we’re talkin’ actual thousands!) without the repository technique. Yikes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS: Repository technique works for certain CAS items, such as clothing and skins, too! CAS items won’t be covered in Friday’s workshop but know that it’s possible! The technique differs in some ways when working with these items.  See examples below. SKINS: Wide range skin palette for maxis/custom bodyshapes  (2nd edition, @letomills, 2024) HAIR: 4t2 Hair Defaults (@platinumaspiration et al., 2024) CLOTHING: The Bella’s Secret (2023) and Bella Park (2023) sets by @somedaythesun.

Tutoring
Activity title: Tutoring elementary school students Duration: long term activity (around 3 hours per week) Type of activity: Service
Learning outcomes:
1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth. 2. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. 3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Activity description
I started tutoring a couple of elementary students from my elementary school. I tutor them in Math, Physics and English. I usually spend about 3 hours a week explaining the syllabus to them and helping them get a better grade. So far, it turned out to be pretty successful
Reflection
I really enjoy teaching students younger than me something new. It makes me really happy when they understand something that used to be hard for them. Tutoring helps me develop my teaching skills which could be useful later in life. I plan on studying something related to science later in life, so presenting and lecturing will probably be a big part of my job.
