Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, infectious disease, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders. CT imaging is particularly useful because it can show several types of tissue (lung, bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels) with great clarity. It then uses computer processing of the information to show a cross-section of body tissues and organs. CT uses special X-ray equipment to obtain image data from different angles around the body. OCH is pleased to announce the acquisition of a second ultrasound unit featuring some of the latest technology available, which will enable physicians to help accurately diagnose and treat their patients.ĬT, also known as CAT scan, is one of the most exciting new technologies available in diagnostic imaging. Since no radiation is involved, many studies have shown that these sound waves are harmless and may be used with complete safety, even on pregnant women. Ultrasound is a safe diagnostic procedure that utilizes very high-frequency sound waves to produce images of many of the internal structures of the body. Current guidelines from the American Cancer Association (ACA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) recommend that, beginning at age 40, women get annual mammograms. Mammography can show changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them. Mammography plays a central part in early detection of breast cancers. Successful treatment of breast cancer depends on early diagnosis. Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose X-ray system and high-contrast, high-resolution film for examination of the breasts. CR allows images to be acquired in a digital format, which enables x-rays to be stored on disc, and permits transmission over computer data lines to virtually anywhere. OCH is pleased to introduce the latest technology available in radiography called Computed Radiography (CR). X-ray imaging is the fastest and easiest way for a physician to view and assess whether there is a fractured bone, pneumonia, lung disease (via chest X-ray), or gastrointestinal problems (via fluoroscopy). Radiography, known to most people as X-ray, is the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. What is Diagnostic Imaging?
The use of diagnostic imaging technology in healthcare has revolutionized healthcare. It allows for early diagnosis, reduced need for invasive exploratory procedures and better outcomes for patients. Health Images provides comprehensive diagnostic imaging services. Let's look at diagnostic imaging more closely and discover the various types of imaging. Diagnostic imaging refers to various methods of looking inside the body in order to diagnose and rule out illness. It is also used by doctors to assess how well a patient responds to treatment for fractures or illnesses. Diagnostic Centre in Kandivali is a way for doctors to see inside your body in order to detect any signs of a medical condition. Some devices and methods can take pictures of your body's structures and activities. Based on your symptoms and the part of your body being examined, your doctor will determine which medical imaging tests to use. Many imaging tests can be performed without the need for anesthesia and are painless, noninvasive and easy. Some tests will require you to stay still for long periods of time. This can be uncomfortable. Some tests require a very small radiation exposure. The doctor will place a camera attached to a long, thin tube inside your body for other imaging tests. This is called a "scope" and the doctor will then insert the device into your body. The scope will be moved through any bodily openings or passageways to allow them to see inside a specific organ like your heart, lungs, or colon. These procedures may require anesthesia. Different types of Diagnostic Imaging Health Images provides a wide range of diagnostic imaging services including the following.1. MRI ScansMRIs do not use radiation but rather a strong magnet to take a picture of the patient's body. There are four types MRI machines. True open: A true open MRI is fully transparent from all sides. This eliminates a lot the discomfort that can be experienced by people who feel claustrophobic when using regular MRI machines at Best MRI Scan Centre in Kandivali. Closed: The traditional tube machine, also known as a closed machine, is one that you can lie down on and then go inside to view the images. 3T: The letter "T" stands for Tesla. It is a unit of measurement that a technologist uses in order to measure the magnetic field strength. The 3T MRI represents the most advanced and innovative test available for MRIs. This MRI is closed in design like traditional MRIs. The 3T MRI test takes less time and is more detailed than the traditional MRI. Also, the images are high-resolution and detailed, allowing the radiologist determine if you have a more serious or benign condition. Wide bore: Also known as an "open MRI", this machine is similar to a closed MRI but has a larger opening. An MRI scan may be recommended by your doctor for a variety of reasons. This allows them to get a very detailed view of your body and can be used to do things like:A MRI exam usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the length of the procedure. To make certain details more clear in the generated images, your doctor may inject contrast fluid into your vein. This can prolong the exam. 2. CT ScansA CT scan is also known by physicians as a "cat scanner." It combines multiple X-ray scans, or images from different angles. The software generates cross-sectional images of the blood vessels and soft tissue within the body. CT scans offer a better picture than standard Xrays. These scans are often used to quickly assess individuals with internal injuries following a trauma. CT scans are used by doctors to assess the spine, brain and abdomen. These scans provide clear images of both soft and hard tissues. Doctors can quickly take medical decisions using the CT scans. CT scan Centre in Kandivali can be performed in both hospitals and imaging centers due to their high quality. These scans help doctors find injuries and diseases that were previously difficult to diagnose. CT scans are safe and non-invasive, even though they use very low radiation doses. These scans can be used in many medical situations that require diagnostic imaging. These scans can detect slight abnormalities in soft tissues, such as the brain, and other organs. Images can also be used by doctors to diagnose patients with symptoms such as dizziness and pain. These images can even be used to examine the spread of certain diseases, like cancer. There are many uses for CT scans, depending on the location of the technologist in your body. 3. X-raysX-rays are one of the most well-known and widely used diagnostic imaging tests. They are used by doctors to examine the inside of the body. The X-ray machine generates a high energy beam that dense tissue and bone can't absorb but that passes through other parts of the body. This creates an image that allows your doctor to determine if you have suffered a bone injury x ray centre in kandivali 4. MammographyMammograms are an x-ray of the breasts. Mammograms are used to detect early signs of breast cancer. Breast tissue changes may also be detected in mammograms, which could indicate early-stage breast carcinoma. Digital mammography is used by radiologists to detect and diagnose cancer nodules in breast tissue that older systems cannot. Mammograms can detect breast cancer early, and in some cases it may take years to feel the symptoms. Regular mammograms can provide many benefits, including these at best digital mammography centre in kandivali. They save lives by detecting breast cancer early. CT scan
CT, or CAT scans, are special X-ray tests that produce cross-sectional images of the body using x-rays and a computer. CT scans are also referred to as computerized axial tomography and they have vastly improved patient comfort because a scan can be done quickly. Improvements have led to higher-resolution images, which assist the doctor in making a diagnosis. For example, the CT scan can help doctors to visualize small nodules or tumors, which they cannot see with a plain film X-ray.
Most CT scans are conducted as an outpatient procedure. Since they do not require hospitalization, the patient has the test and then goes home. The scanner looks like a large donut with a narrow table in the middle. Unlike MRI, in which the patient would be placed inside the tunnel of the scanner, when undergoing a CT scan, the patient rarely experiences claustrophobia because of the openness of the doughnut shape of the scanner.
Tumblr media
Typically the patient lies on their back on the table, which moves through the center of the machine. The patient moves through the scanner either head first or frete first, depending on the part of the body being scanned. For certain scans such as sinuses and middle ear, the patient would lie on their stomach and go through head first. The patient must also remain motionless for the length of the study, which is typically just a few minutes. The entire procedure, which includes set-up, the scan itself, checking the pictures, and removing the IV if needed, takes 15 to 45 minutes depending on what part of the body is being scanned. For some studies, the patient will be asked to hold their breath for up to 20 seconds. What clothing the patient wears depends on the nature of the study. For a CT scan of the chest, abdomen, or pelvis, for example, usually the patient will change into a hospital gown. For a head CT scan, the patient can wear normal street clothes. Sedation is rarely necessary. The machine is quiet, so the patient hears during the test is a quiet whirr.
The technologist is in the next room and can observe the patient through a large window.
Tumblr media
The images from CT are produced from data of X-ray intensity - this is now usually done by computer software (but older systems may produce' film slices'. The images are usually monochrome (black, white and grey), as with ordninary X-rays, but they can be colour coded (in new sophistacated machines) by the doctor to highlight different densities of tissue. Computer software is used to join 'the slices' together to give three-dimensional views. This means that a CT scan allows doctors to see the height, width and depth of something inside the body.

10 Essential Skills a Social Media Manager Needs To Have on Their Resume
By Jeff Bullas
Only 10 years ago the social media manager role was not even a job or a career. It didn’t exist. Facebook was barely a year old and was still just a way for people to connect to other students online. The term social media marketing wasn’t in the lexicon.
Fast forward a decade and every organization must have a social media manager, whether full time or part time. They need to be like a juggler at a circus and keep a lot of balls up in the air and make them all land safely. It requires skillsets which means managing many moving parts. Technical, analytical, creative with a bit of project management thrown in. Heard of the term “Ninja Geek”? Maybe “Creative technologist?
So what does the life of a social media manager look like?
It’s almost a 24/7 job. It means monitoring, managing, updating and being inspired by the clients and other sources.
Here is a fun infographic that explains the ongoing tasks that keep the social manager busy!
Infographic source: Visualistam.com
Essential skills of a social media manager
It can mean being always on and keeping tabs on your community. It involves being creative like an artist but also learning to be the “data scientist”. In a digital age the geeks may indeed inherit the earth.
So here are the top skills a social media manager needs to have to succeed and excel.
1. Strategy planning
You will need to understand the big picture. How search, content and social media all works together. You will need to outline goals, define your target audience and know what platforms will help you scale your efforts. As social media marketing is complicated you will need the right tools to do “social at scale” and automate.
2. Tactics and execution
Tactical execution is paramount to the success of any social media managers day to day job. This means you need to have attention to detail or to understand who you need to hire to maintain day to day accurate execution of the required tactics.
3. Community management
Social media is about creating, observing and responding to conversations within your brand community. Monitoring tweets, responding to Facebook posts and engaging with brand advocates. It even means knowing how to respond to trolls and negative feedback. It’s part PR and part commonsense.
4. Understand how content works on a social web
Social media delivers and amplifies content, both from the brand and its community. The social media manager needs to know what content works and what doesn’t on social networks. It also means understanding which different media formats such as text (articles), video, images and podcasts resonate with your particular niche.
You will need to know how to make content move and maybe even go viral across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and the other social networks.
5. Optimizing content and technology
The social web is an ecosystem of search, mobile and content. Making sure that you know how to guide a customer down a sales funnel from discovery, engagement, following and finally sales requires some particular skill sets.
Understanding the essential for optimizing content for SEO, so search engines will rank high for your keywords and phrases on Google
Converting traffic when they hit your landing pages so customers register for webinars, download ebooks and share your content on Facebook
6. Creative mindset
Social media marketing is not just cold hard tactics. It means understanding the creative process that provides creative content that engages with your customer and touches their hearts and not just their minds.
Don’t underestimate the importance of creative visual content and be willing to experiment. Artists are always pushing their limits.
7. Writing skills
Images are essential on a visual web and pictures of cats and cute babies and funny images are important. But great writing and how it works online are also vital. It includes:
The art and science of headline writing
Writing engaging introductions
Structuring your text for easy reading online. People will be skimming and scanning, so that means subtitles, bullet points and numbering are part of the skillset
8. Be on top of the latest digital marketing trends
Social media is not a singularity. The social web is made up of intersecting trends as it matures and evolves. These mean understanding some of the following.
The rise and role of mobile
The emergence of “pay to play” with Facebook reducing it’s organic reach
The rise and rise of visual marketing as Instagram and a Twitter that is looking much more like a visual image feed punctuated with 140 character tweets.
9. Analytical skills
When social media started there were no tools to measure the impact of your campaigns and marketing initiatives on social media. There were no analytics tools on Facebook or Twitter.
You saw what worked by mindlessly monitoring the the streams, posts and pages. More art than science.
Now you can measure what works and what doesn’t in real time. Today you can even measure sentiment.
In 2015 it is becoming “more science than art”
10. Leadership and communication skills
Keeping the management informed, the team motivated and customers excited and engaged means knowing the art of communication. This includes presentation skills both verbally and written.
A social media manager needs to manage! That means they need to be a leader.
How are your leadership skills.
Want to be recognized and rewarded as a top social media manager?
To display and reward those skills, the Somero Social Media Round International competition, is an event where the best social media managers in the world can both display their skills and be rewarded. There is 200,000 Euros in prizes up for grabs!

What We Learned About VR/AR From A Recent Visit By YouVisit
Tumblr media
What did ROKO Labs recently learn about VR/AR? Simply put, Virtual/Augmented reality is a game-changer.
For a short introduction, “Virtual Reality” (VR) is the generation of realistic images, sounds and other sensations that replicate a real environment (or create an imaginary setting) by a computer.  For example, taking a walk on Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter, could be done with virtual reality. Battling Darth Vader on Endor, an imaginary moon from Star Wars, could also be done with virtual reality.  “Augmented Reality” (AR) is the live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by a computer.  Building a virtual three-dimensional puzzle right on your coffee table or watching a soccer game displaying real-time statistics on your headset would be examples of augmented reality.
Applications for VR/AR vary greatly across multiple markets, such as healthcare, education, retail, defense…and even pornography! (Don’t worry, we’re keeping the blog G-rated). In the coming years, few parts of our daily lives will remain untouched by VR/AR.  But, before we jump too far into the future we should pay homage to the technologists who came before us. Recently ROKO Labs invited Alan Pan, Senior UX Designer at YouVisit.com, to stop by for a lunch and learn where he shared that one of the earliest examples of VR/AR dates back to the 1950’s and Morton Heilig’s “Sensorama”.  While it may have been difficult 67 years ago to envision how VR/AR would integrate into our daily lives it’s certainly not difficult now. Historically, some of the barriers to growth for VR/AR have been:
Weight of the devices Lack of available content Low resolution of graphics High costs
With tech giants such as Google (Daydream), Microsoft (HoloLens), Samsung (Gear VR) and others investing heavily in VR/AR, as well as investments from the VC community, many of these barriers have been reduced significantly. However, challenges do still exist, particularly around content availability, user adoption and VR sickness.  Robert Scoble, Entrepreneur in Residence at Upload VR, spoke recently at LAUNCH Scale 2016 where he shared 6 specific technologies that are addressing these challenges and continuing to drive the growth in VR/AR. As these technologies mature, so too will the presence of VR/AR.
Optics: Virtual things must be “shown” so graphics/display capabilities will be critical.  The advancements in commercialization of 4K and 8K screens are a good benchmark to keep an eye on.
LTE 5: Planned for ~2019 LTE 5 will provide increased bandwidth and support more devices per cell tower, key for streaming VR/AR content that is interactive.
Eye tracking: Tracking eye movements in real-time.
Room tracking: Devices will scan rooms and know the layout, structure and objects in the rooms to allow for user interactions.
Augmented Audio: Improved immersive audio will support a more realistic experience.
AI/Categorization:  In addition to room tracking, devices will to be able to determine what users will be viewing (this object is a chair, this object is your cat, etc).
But how will all of this affect you and your app?  To answer that let’s take a few moments to consider how virtual and augmented features could be integrated into some of Time.com’s 50 Best Apps of the Year for 2016.  For each of the apps below, think about how you would integrate VR or AR:
Pokemon Go
New York Times Cooking
Google Trips
My initial thoughts were the following:
Pokemon Go: Users could train their favorite Snorlax in an interactive 3-D PokeGym, instead of a simple 2-D screen.
NYT Cooking: Users could watch and interact with pre-recorded chefs right in their own kitchen as they prepare recipes.
Google Trips: Users could take an interactive tour of that top vacation spot they’ve been dreaming of, right from their living room. (YouVisit has actually done this for Carnival Cruise Lines).
Now for the fun part:
<Insert Your App Here> and think of the possibilities…
Have some good ideas? Great! Because this technology will be here before we know it.  You’ll still need to think about how to increase user adoption, keep users engaged and maximize user retention (ROKO Mobi can help with that!) but you’ll also need to start thinking about how your app will leverage virtual or augmented reality.  Welcome to the future!

vent vent vent/medical update
wooo so i found out that if the technologists don’t find anything wrong in the ct/cat (idk which it is i’ve heard both) scan, then there’s nothing they can do to help me. the next possibly but unlikely thing they could do is take me in for extensive testing. i would have to stay for approx. a week or more but at this point i’m willing to do anything to find out what’s wrong.
and because i overthink literally everything, i have made a plan of what to do in case something is terribly wrong. i looked at the Sickkids website at their meal menu, floor layout, and room numbers. genuinely. like every possible medical room that i would have to go to if something hypothetically went wrong. i have a list of what to bring in a backpack or a small carryon if the backpack is too small. i have 5 daily meal plans that I would cycle through. i hate that i thought this through so meticulously, but i’ll do anything to calm my nerves. i don’t think its a terrible thing that i did it, either, i guess i feel like im doing too much for something that might not even happen. oh well.
also also i’m going to see my orthopedist about my joint issues soon and he might refer me to a rheumatologist if he thinks things are bad enough. i’m incredibly grateful for the medical team that i have, and they are doing as best as they can. i’m just really really tired
ps. if anyone has any tips on dealing with hospital anxiety pls pls pls send them my way

During the 23-month radiologic technician certification program at the School of Radiologic Technology at Hancock Health, students will get a lot of clinical experience.
“They do a lot of hands-on work with the patients,” says Program Director Peggy Welage. In fact, if you’re looking for a program with a lot of classroom time, you won’t find it here. Students at the School of Radiologic Technology will spend one day out of five in the classroom. During the other four days, students are in the clinic, getting practical experience on the floor, learning up-to-date procedures typically performed in the field of radiologic technology.
“Even within the first six weeks of the program, they've already starting doing x-rays on actual patients,” Peggy says.
Once students have completed the program, they’ll find plenty of career options. Peggy, a 30-year veteran of the field, says there are lots of jobs students care take once they are certified. Graduates can work in hospitals and/or imaging centers, doctors’ offices, or into any of the modalities and work as a CAT scan, MRI, ultra sound or nuclear medicine. The obvious job is working in a hospital or an imaging center, but there's a lot of other directions that you can go a radiologic technologist.
“In addition to that, you can work in the computer end of imaging,” Peggy says. “Obviously, with imaging, we use a lot of different kinds of computers and we need people to maintain those computers and work with the software.” Graduates can go into sales of equipment and work for manufacturers of imaging equipment.
Or, you can follow Peggy’s path and go into education. The School of Radiologic Technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). JRCERT is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
