did anyone else have this thing as a kid where they were convinced their organs went necrotic inside of them and they were rotting from the inside out and eating/drinking anything would speed up the decomposition process so they stopped eating and drinking until their parents and guardians forced them to eat. i had this problem for like years on end and it gave me so much anxiety every day i legitimately felt like i was about to die any moment i straight up was convinced i didnt exist anymore and was about to lose all sense of consciousness i was just constantly in the same amount of panic one would experience if someone had a gun held to their temple. and my mom was like yeah my daughter is a little nervous she has anxiety i give her lavender bubble baths and cbd gummies to calm down i don't believe in medication and you look down and im gripping her hand so hard my nails are digging into her skin and im shaking like a wet chihuahua and my eyes are wide like i just saw someone die. i would like scratch at my arms and my chest until i bled to make sure there was still blood inside of me and i would always have my hand on my chest/neck/wrist to feel for a pulse and i would jam my hands down my throat to puke things back up and confirm if my body was digesting any of it at all. after like YEARS of going thru that everyday and nobody listening to me when i said "umm im scared im not real im scared im gonna die i cant feel my body" it just stopped one day and i went on with my life. did anyone else go thru that or am i just a special brand of neurotic. sometimes i remember that era of my life and wonder how i turned out as ok as i have. i certainly am not normal or ok but after something like that youd think that would be like a lifelong ward stay. i barely remember anything from my childhood or anything prior to being 19 years old so i don't remember if it "randomly stopped" or if it actually stopped when i started meds for bipolar but it literally just disappeared one day and never came back

Anti-inflammatory lifestyle update
As I said earlier on my blog, I want to follow an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. For someone like me, it's absolutely possible, and I just need some fine-tuning here and there. The true area that's going to need a lot of attention, care, and modification is my anxiety. Excess anxiety and stress cause inflammation which can manifest as eczema. My anxiety is not my fault of course. The fact that I might be on the spectrum and just found that out at the age of 29 goes to show I've never knew the root cause of my random anxiety and anger outbursts and thought there was something wrong with me.
The steps to following and living an anti-inflammatory lifestyle are as follows:
Eat a low-sugar anti-inflammatory diet. I know I've spoken about low-glycemic in the past, but low-sugar is probably a better description (ex HFCS and ice cream have a lower glycemic index than white potatoes, but white potatoes are much healthier and contain less sugar). Eating a diet rich in berries, leafy greens, broccoli, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, fish, unprocessed dairy, sprouted or whole grains (sourdough!), turmeric/black pepper, nuts, chia seeds, olive oil, avocados, dark chocolate, green tea, and foods rich in fiber will do wonders. I named a few of the anti-inflammatory foods I enjoy, but there are more. Also limiting intake of sugar, processed white bread/grains, foods cooked/fried in refined vegetable oils, too much salt, omega-6 rich foods, trans fats, and processed meats like hot dogs and bacon (I don't like meat so I'm not worried about this for myself). Because my goal is to add and not subtract, but I obviously want to limit processed foods.
Supplement with anti-inflammatory nutrients that are hard to get from diet alone. These include vitamin D, omega 3 fatty acids (flax oil daily), and even zinc in some cases.
Drink enough water. I already drink around 2 L of water daily.
Avoid drinking alcohol. I know wine can be anti-inflammatory, but other alcohols can be terrible and I don't drink to begin with. I don't drink any alcohol to begin with.
Avoid smoking.
Get enough sleep each night. From my experience, I need 7-8 hours.
Exercise. Brisk walking 3x a week for 30 mins and doing pilates (mat or reformer) 3x a week for 15-45 minutes is great! I don't like weights or HIIT so I avoid those.
Maintain a healthy body weight. Being in a healthy body fat/weight range maintains good health and reduced inflammation. From my experience, intermittent fasting helps so much with this. Fasting 16-8 on days 1-10 and 16-20 of my cycle, elective fasting on days 11-15 of my cycle (here I would either not fast or would have a larger afternoon/evening snack or eat out), and no fasting days 21+ of my cycle.
Stress relief. I'm still working on this, but CBD oil helps.
Gut health. Eat a low sugar and anti-inflammatory diet rich in fiber, polyphenols and antimicrobial spices. Take digestive enzymes and do regular gut health testing. Avoid alcohol and take antibiotics on a need-to basis.
Exposure to toxins AND allergens. We are all exposed to "toxins" on a daily basis, including chemicals and metals and allergens. Allergy shots and vacuuming my house and avoiding allergens helps, as well as taking anti-histamines. A healthy gut, liver, and kidneys helps with "detoxing". I'll look more into chemicals and heavy metals. I try to use natural care products as well (skin, oral, nails, hair, laundry, etc...) but am not strict.
Be around those you love and avoid those who hurt and stress you out (much easier said than done and I'll add more to this).
Take steroid shots and prednisone when needed.
Above has been updated Feb 2025 (originally written July 2024).
For now, I'll take my vitamin D, fish oil, and multivitamin. As well as the morning aloe juice.
I modified my diet this week to include more anti-inflammatory foods and am even going to try some healthy vegetarian dishes my mom and sister make. I know some people with eczema rave about elimination diets and how cutting out gluten, dairy, eggs, nightshades, caffeine, citrus fruits, and foods high in histamine cleared their skin. I know that some people out there have benefited from elimination diets, but I personally hate these diets. I would much rather focus on adding anti-inflammatory foods and limiting my intake of inflammatory foods like sugars, processed/refined oils, trans fats, and processed white bread rather than eliminating foods that random people on the internet said were "inflammatory". These foods can be a rich source of vitamins and minerals, so I'm really hesitant to exclude them from my diet. The goal is to add a lot of anti-inflammatory food sources to my diet rather than taking foods out.
There are many diets out there, but I believe an anti-inflammatory diet would be best for me to follow. Again I'm going to meet with a dietitian to get some tips and tricks on how to work with it. I've been hearing about different diets for years, but only heard about an anti-inflammatory diet last year when I went to my women's health doctor for a pelvic exam (inflammation causes bad period cramps which I used to struggle with but they've gotten better).
I already drink a lot of water daily and sleep well. I also do not smoke nor drink at all, and I'm maintaining a healthy body weight through IF and walking.
I see exercise as a way to improve my metabolic health and build muscle. It is anti-inflammatory. But it's not very high on the priority list like diet and body-weight is. But it's great for building muscle mass and sweating, both which improve overall metabolism and insulin sensitivity. I'm going to do doable workouts that are 5-6 out of 10 challenging. No jumping, no heavy weights. 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes including a 5 minute warmup and 5 minute cooldown.
I am susceptible to anger and anxiety, and I'm going to do an autism screening soon and will get the help I need to navigate in life. Knowing that autism may be a possibility lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders because it explains why there is something "unconventional" in the way I behave that isn't bad nor wrong nor problematic, nor is it a sign of laziness, failure, or incompetence. I know getting the help I need will help a lot with my anxiety, and therefore, inflammation/skin flareups.
I'll add more to point 12. Thankfully the people I interact with on a daily basis do not stress me out that much. And I'm happy I have a supportive community here and that I reunited with my old friends from college. I feel less lonely and empty.
My skin is getting better, and I know that adopting anti-inflammatory habits help. I know that adding anti-inflammatory foods to my diet this week (especially the green tea) and knowing that I might be autistic (lifted a huge weight off my shoulders) made me feel much better this week and my skin was less inflamed. Exercising is a great habit too. I'm going to heal and follow this anti-inflammatory lifestyle. The most challenging part will be the anxiety management and healing, which will take a lot of time. I have a lot to heal from, especially after doing a testing/getting a diagnosis. I'll be okay. My mom and sister are here to help. I also have hypochondria, which they will help with too.

Exploring Cannabis Edibles: Production and Effects
Cannabis edibles have gained significant popularity in recent years as an alternative way to consume cannabis. Unlike smoking or vaping, edibles offer a discreet, smoke-free method of enjoying the effects of cannabis. They come in various forms such as cookies, candies, chocolates, and beverages, making them appealing to a wide range of consumers. Let's delve into how cannabis edibles are made and understand their effects.
Production Process:
Decarboxylation: The key step in making cannabis edibles is decarboxylation. This process involves heating raw cannabis flower or concentrate to activate the cannabinoids like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) present in the plant material. This activation is necessary for the cannabinoids to have psychoactive or therapeutic effects.
Infusion: Once decarboxylated, the cannabis is infused into a fat or oil base like butter, coconut oil, or vegetable oil. This infusion process allows the cannabinoids to bind with the fat molecules, which makes them more readily absorbed by the body when ingested.
Cooking/Baking: The infused oil or butter is then used in various recipes to create cannabis-infused edibles. These can range from baked goods like brownies, cookies, and cakes to savory items like candies, chocolates, gummies, and even beverages.
Effects of Cannabis Edibles:
The effects of cannabis edibles differ from smoking or vaping due to the way cannabinoids are absorbed into the body. When you ingest cannabis through edibles, the cannabinoids are metabolized by the liver before entering the bloodstream. This process produces a different set of effects that are typically more potent and longer-lasting compared to inhalation methods. Here are some key points about the effects of cannabis edibles:
Delayed Onset: One distinctive feature of edibles is their delayed onset of effects. While smoking or vaping cannabis delivers effects almost instantly, edibles can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in. This delay occurs because the cannabinoids must be digested and metabolized before reaching the bloodstream.
Potency: Edibles can be quite potent due to the concentration of cannabinoids in the infused oil or butter. It's important for users to start with a low dose and wait to gauge the effects before consuming more. Overconsumption of edibles can lead to unpleasant experiences characterized by intense intoxication, anxiety, or paranoia.
Longer Duration: Another notable aspect of edibles is their prolonged duration of effects. Once the cannabinoids are absorbed into the bloodstream, the effects can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours or even longer, depending on the individual's metabolism and tolerance.
Body High vs. Head High: Many users report experiencing more of a body-centered high with edibles, characterized by deep relaxation and sedation. This is in contrast to the cerebral, head-focused high often associated with smoking or vaping cannabis.
Safety and Responsible Use:
Using cannabis edibles responsibly involves understanding dosage, onset time, and potential effects. Here are some tips for safe consumption:
Start Low, Go Slow: Begin with a low dose (typically 5-10mg of THC) and wait at least 2 hours before considering consuming more.
Read Labels: Always check the THC/CBD content per serving in commercial edibles to better manage dosage.
Store Safely: Keep cannabis edibles securely stored away from children and pets, preferably in child-resistant packaging.
Avoid Mixing with Alcohol: Combining edibles with alcohol can amplify the effects and increase the risk of adverse reactions.
In conclusion, cannabis edibles offer a convenient and discrete way to enjoy the effects of cannabis without smoking. Understanding how they are made and their effects is crucial for safe and enjoyable consumption. As the legal landscape surrounding cannabis evolves, edibles continue to be a popular choice for both recreational and medicinal users seeking an alternative to traditional consumption methods.

The Post-Bisalp Diaries, Part Two: Survival Of The Tubeless
Happy Two Week Anniversary of me noping the fallopes!
When I was reading up on how others managed post-Bisalp before my own surgery, I saw suggestions like "take Gas-X for bloating", "use stool softeners so you don't 'strain' yourself", "have a heating pad for the shoulder pain", and so forth. They sounded helpful, and it was a good thing I had that stuff already on hand (for other reasons).
That said, here's what really helped me out during my recovery. ***DISCLAIMER*** Your mileage may vary, all bodies are different, and I sure as shit am no doctor or medical practitioner!
*Turmeric-Curcumin Pills*
It's what I first turn to when I get crap like PMS cramps or headaches. I do have ibuprofen on hand, but it's more of a last resort remedy for me. The ones I've been taking post-surgery are Gaia Herbs Turmeric Supreme, but I also have Terry Naturally's Curamin (regular strength) pills.
*CBD Stuff*
Thank goodness I live in a state where CBD products are legal to own. Tinctures and gummies, particularly the ones from Lazarus Naturals, have been a godsend.
*Probiotics*
I still took probiotics pre-surgery, albeit in food form (yogurt, sauerkraut, etc.) since I couldn't have supplements then. When I learned that I was given antibiotics during my surgery, I knew I needed to take probiotics later in the day; it's what balances out your digestive system after the antibiotics fuck with it. Maybe it could explain why, even if my appetite was reduced for the first few days, I didn't have bad gas. I took a high-dose probiotic (think the pills with over 40+billion cultures) in the first week, then, for the second week, went down to probiotics with no more than 25 billion cultures. And some low-sugar yogurt.
*Pedialyte Pops*
Like with many others who had a Bisalp, sore throat is a common post-surgery symptom. (It's the result of having a breathing tube down your throat during the procedure.) Though I had regular popsicles on hand, I ended up buying Pedialyte Freezer Pops as well as they also have electrolytes in them. And they're also fairly low sugar!
*Thrift Stores*
So I had to change up my wardrobe a bit for my recovery. A month leading up to my surgery, I got some jumpsuits, loose, high waisted pants with a comfortable waistband, slip-in shoes so I don't have to bend over and tie my shoes, and even a bed rest pillow in case I felt like a lazy-ass. Thanks to thrift stores, I got all that for a bargain. Who the fuck needs Wal-Mart?
By the way, because of my need to be active, and me fighting the fatigue during the first few days of recovery, I didn't use that bed rest pillow. I guess I may need it down the road, and it only cost me $5.
*Eating Low-Carb, Minimally Processed Foods*
Having been on Keto for the past few years, the diet has not only helped me shed blubber, but I've become more active from it. I can't say if eating low-carb/sugar-free foods and minimally processed foods helped my body heal quicker, but, save for the first three days after surgery, I never felt sluggish in my recovery.
*A Decent Landlord & Loan Deferments*
OK, forget the physical aspects of my recovery; it's the financial aspects that took the real beating. I'm able to receive Short Term Disability while out from work (I do not work from home and my job is very physical), but waiting for the payments have become a pain in the clit. I'm still waiting for them, and it just happens to be a holiday weekend right now. Just my luck! So, I like to give a shout-out to my landlord who was cool with me underpaying my rent for this upcoming month, and the few loan companies who I have accounts with that were able to postpone my payments so I don't go so broke to where I need to sell my sterilized ass on the streets for a few bucks. (Like, literally a few bucks--it's the going rate for old millennial ass.)
Also, a friendly reminder that just because one is childfree doesn't mean they got deep pockets. Some of those "I got to vacation in Italy last week 'cause I got no kids!!!!" posts you see on Reddit's Childfree subreddit are likely made-up as hell (it's Reddit, after all). Now that I think about it, I think I'm more of a WINK (What Income? No Kids) instead of a SINK at the moment.
A Few Things I Got/Have That I Didn't Need In The End...
--GasX pills (I was never really gassy, and they were the 99-Cent Store version as opposed to the name brand, so I didn't lose money on that)
--Shoulder/Heating Pad (others have suggested it, but I only used it just once and that was because it was a cold night)
--stool softeners (I think the probiotics helped me out with this one)
--ibuprofen (took it once and it fucked with me. I'm used to the 200mg pills, but 600mg per pill?! Fuck no!)
--prescribed oxycodone (didn't even open that shit)
And A Couple Things You Don't Need To Buy...
--disposable underwear (the hospital will provide you with as many pairs as you need. I never bled, thankfully, but I was still given a few pairs.)
--anti-nausea patch (another thing the hospital will give you, but only if you request it. I could've saved myself $6 from the pack of anti-nausea patches I bought on eBay! *punches air*)
*****
Again, what helped me out post-Bisalp may or may not help the next person in recovery. If there's one thing I highly recommend that will help the next person recover from a Bisalp smoothly, it's having plenty of money so you don't have to worry about financial shit like me.
**ETA: Tumblr told me this is my 100th post here. I'd celebrate but I also outed myself as a broke bitch in the post, so...

Every Thing You Need To Know About Weed Edibles | Cavi Land

In recent years, the cannabis industry has witnessed a surge in popularity, with weed edibles emerging as a favored choice among consumers seeking an alternative to traditional smoking methods. From delectable chocolates to tantalizing gummies, weed edibles offer a discreet and convenient way to enjoy the benefits of cannabis. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the world of weed edibles.
What Are Weed Edibles? Weed edibles are food and beverage products infused with cannabis extracts, typically cannabinoids such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or CBD (cannabidiol). These products come in various forms, including chocolates, gummies, baked goods, beverages, and more.
How Do They Work? When consumed, weed edibles undergo digestion in the gastrointestinal tract, where cannabinoids are absorbed into the bloodstream. Unlike smoking, which delivers cannabinoids to the bloodstream rapidly through the lungs, edibles take longer to take effect but offer a more prolonged and potent experience.
Dosage and Effects It's crucial to start with a low dosage when trying weed edibles, as their effects can be more intense and long-lasting compared to smoking. The onset of effects typically occurs within 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption, with peak effects felt within 2-4 hours. Factors such as metabolism, tolerance, and the potency of the product can influence the experience.

Worth noting that whether vitamins and dietary supplements are FDA regulated or not, plenty of people do take them as part of a management routine for various conditions, and activated charcoal can still affect them. It affects whatever's in your digestive tract at the same time.
Activated charcoal will not affect medicines that are injected, inhaled, applied topically, implanted, or inserted as vaginal suppositories. If you're on birth control pills, yes activated charcoal can deactivate that. If your birth control is in any other form, it will not be affected. It will not affect your asthma inhaler, HRT shots, CBD lotion. Only things that are taken orally, or inserted as rectal suppositories, can be affected. It will also not affect medications taken orally or inserted as rectal suppositories that have already absorbed before you eat the activated-charcoal spookyfood.
every october I see posts going around warning people that if you eat something with activated charcoal, it could basically stop your meds from working. and every year I think "are there really people who don't take medication daily? really? not even one thing?" for the sake of this poll, if you think you take a medication daily, you probably do. the only exclusions are vitamins and other dietary supplements, as they are not regulated by the FDA (sorry, tw american op).
