“Y/n!” Mindy’s voice rang through your ears as the familiar front door of the Meeks-Martin household opened. “Hey, Mindy” You responded with a smile, backpack slung over one shoulder but quickly being slid down her arm as Mindy practically pulled you inside.

“So, you remember that girl I said asked me out?” “yeah, Ivy right?” Mindy’s face lit up at the name which verified your guess was correct. You listened with a smile as your best friend rambled on with details of the date as she mindlessly pulled snacks out of the pantry for your sleepover. You set your bag on one of the chairs at the table before leaning against the counter and taking one of the chip bags from Mindy. 

By the time Chad had gotten to the kitchen, Mindy’s arms were full, and her rant about the pretty girl was far from over, so Chad took it upon himself to carefully maneuver his way throughout the room to not get in his sister’s way before slinking his arms around your waist and hugging you in one swift movement. Mumbling a “hi” into your hair and pressing a quick kiss to your cheek before moving away from you and to the fridge, leaving you suddenly cold. 

You smiled, setting the bag of chips on the table by your backpack and crossing your arms, “so wait, did you kiss her or-“ Mindy cut off your question with harsh shushes, earning a laugh in return, “you need the full rundown before I tell you the best details”

“So she did kiss her” Chad answered, deciding the fridge was boring before grabbing a water bottle and closing the door, taking your previous place against the counter. 

You laughed as Mindy glared at her brother before she threw a majority of the snacks into a reusable bag from the grocery store, holding the few that didn’t fit in the bag in her hands. 

“Come, sweet Y/n, I’ll finish the story while we set up for our movie” Mindy announced, pointing at you while she picked up the bag and started for the living room. “Hey, so what are we watching?” Chad asked as the two of you followed Mindy. 

“Y/n/n and I will be watching Silence of the Lambs, you will be butting out of our movie night” Mindy responded matter of factly, ignoring the sympathetic smile you shot Chad as she abandoned all snacks on the coffee table. 

Chad scoffed, “You know she’s my girlfriend right? not yours?” Chad asked sarcastically, “Yeah, only after you stole her from me” Mindy scoffed back, accidentally reminding you about the fact they were twins as you watched the encounter, setting up the couch. “Y/n?” Chad said, getting your full attention, those brown. puppy eyes just waiting to work their magic on you. 

“No! Nuh-uh! don’t put her in that weird trance you do!” Mindy snapped her fingers in front of her brother’s face, causing you to laugh once more before slapping your hand over your mouth to stop it. “We have our date tomorrow night! think you can last till then?” You asked, smiling at Chad, watching as he rolled his eyes and took one of the bags of chips from the snack bag. “I’ll be waiting for you when you inevitably get bored of hearing about Ivy, babe,” Chad said pointing at you in a similar way to how Mindy did a few moments earlier before he turned around and started for the stairs, not missing the way Mindy called him an asshole as he flipped her off without turning back.

A few hours had passed now as you cleaned up the empty soda cans and a few beer bottles from the table when Mindy’s phone lit up with a text, initially you both ignored it, laughing at some dumb comment you had made about Hannibal Lecter as Mindy tied the trash bag and set it on the floor. It lit up a few more times this time catching your attention, “Tara maybe?” you asked with a shrug, Mindy mirrored your action before picking up her phone. “Oh my god it’s Ivy” she smiled, her face lighting up from the light on the screen. “What’s she saying?” You smiled, picking up the empty popcorn bowl. “Oh,” Mindy’s smile dropped before she shoved her phone into her back pocket, picking up the bag of trash. “She just wanted me to come over,” She shrugged, following you into the kitchen so you could put the bowl in the sink. “Told her I can’t, too busy with my Y/n,” she said teasingly, smiling at you as you scoffed. “You should go, movie’s over, it beats studying til we pass out,” You said with another shrug, “you’re sure you’re okay with it? I’m not gonna ditch you for a girl," 

"not ditching if I told you to go, it’s just for tonight! Maybe next movie night it’ll be a group thing” you teased, smiling at your friend as she let a toothy grin fall over her lips. 

“Okay, but only if you’ll still be here when I get back,” Mindy said, “let's go take this trash out and then I’ll go,” She smiled once more, practically skipping as you two went out the backdoor to the trash can. 

You were met back in the kitchen with Chad, cleaning your popcorn bowl as Mindy ran past him to get upstairs and find a different jacket. Making your way over to him silently, you laid your head on his arm as he turned off the water and shook his hands carefully to not splash you before reaching with his free arm for the rag and drying his hands. “Where you guys going?” he asked, tilting his head towards you. “Mindy got invited to Ivy’s, I told her to go” you responded, moving to look at his face properly. 

He smirked that half smile he always does before turning fully and pulling into his hoodie-covered chest, earning a laugh as he did so. “So, that means it’ll just be us?” 

“at least till she gets back, yes” You responded through a muffled laugh.

“Later losers! I’m getting laid!” Mindy called to you both as she rushed back down the stairs, as if on cue all three of you called out I love you at the same time before the door opened and swiftly shut. 

“Just me and you” Chad sighed in content, “now what?” you asked in response, leaning back just enough to look at his face, but quickly moved back into him for a kiss this time, a quiet hmph being heard as your lips hit his but seamlessly falling in tune with his movements. 

“I missed you” he mumbled into your hair after pulling back and hugging you once more, “ you saw me at school earlier” you laughed.

“That was forever ago,” he said through laughs. 

“I missed you too, let's go watch a movie,” you said, pulling away completely and taking his hand, leading him to the couch littered with blankets and pillows. 

Chad spoke once more as you landed on the couch, “Can we watch the Mario movie?”

first of all, she/they mindy is canon so i Have thought of them presenting Super gender neutral. i have thought of mindy wearing chad (their twin)'s clothes, and chad not even caring because he's so used to it. i've thought about how she never felt the need to outwardly come out to her parents or friends, because it all happened so naturally, that when she was like "hey, it would be cool if you guys used 'they/them' for me sometimes", no one even bat an eye, only nodded and hugged them. i Have thought of handsome mindy, of anika calling her that, a lot.

i Have thought of genderqueer tara before, as well, and maybe it's just me projecting in a way that i Have thought of her just not getting it. gender, i mean. she was practically raised by her sister who's such a chill and supportive person and after sam left it was basically her and herself. no one to impose gender norms on her, since her mother wasn't around, or was too drunk to complain about her when she wants to look a little more masculine. no one to stop her from buying any kinds of clothes she wanted, or to cut her hair the way she wanted, or to use a binder when she felt like it.

Now imagine a little tara, having a normal family, a caring father, a loving mother, and a big sister who plays with her all the time. Is it a perfect family? Probably not. They have their highs and lows, but it's still a good family, and tara feels loved.

It was when tara turned 8 that things changed, specifically THAT one night.

Tara was playing with her toys in her room when she heard Sam yelling at their mother. Tara tried to understand, but it didn't make any sense to her. Who's Billy? And what dairies was her sister talking about?

Her father left that night, tara still doesn't know why, she just saw him going into his car, she tried running after him but he didn't even stop when tara called his name multiple times. He looked furious.

He's coming back. He has to come back, right?

Tara has never seen her father again after that night. That's how her family started falling into pieces.

Watching sam change right in front of her eyes is what hurt tara the most. The loving, caring, and protective sister turned into a completely different person, Was that girl standing in front of her even sam? Her sam?

Tara was spending a lot of time at the meeks-martin household. Staying at her house was impossible, considering it was filled with screams and constant fights.

Mindy and Chad have the type of family tara would've liked to have, and tara is so envious. oh, how she wishes that was HER family. Martha, their mother, was nice and sweet, and she took care of tara almost as if she were her own daughter.

And every time she comes back from their house, Tara cries herself to sleep and dreams of a better family, of her father coming back, of sam going back to how she was before, of her mother giving her attention just like when she was young.

Tara is 13, and Sam is a few days away from turning 18. She can see that sam is more and more distant, she's more nervous and gets easily upset, even with tara. She's barely home nowadays, she doesn't know where sam goes.

Tara tried to follow her once, but it didn't work because sam noticed her and brought her back home.

The day sam turned 18 was the day that what was left of tara's family was completely ruined. Just like her father, sam disappeared, in the middle of the night, without saying anything or giving an explanation to tara.

Tara didn't think it could possibly get worse, but i guess she can't catch a break, can she?

Coming back to an empty house is hard. Especially when this place used to be filled with laughters and happiness.

Tara is always alone at home. home... Can she even call it that?

She almost never sees her mother, christina is on some "business trip," but tara isn't stupid. She knows her mother is getting drunk and probably spending the night with another random man.

The thing is that tara couldn't care less about what her mother is doing. She doesn't even care about where her father might possibly be right now. The only family she wants and needs back is Sam.

One day, maybe one day tara will get the family she has always craved.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL AU david is troy, matteo is gabriella, can’t decide whether leonie is sharpay or david’s version of chad who’s a varsity athlete on the girl’s team and keeps trying to get david to ditch the musical (and matteo) to focus on basketball. david is a jock who thinks singing is stupid!!! matteo is Shy and Quiet and Withdrawn!!! they sing karaoke together and fall MADLY IN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE and there isn’t closeted drama just “omg should we audition for the musical” drama. matteo’s friends are also well-meaning but stupid and are like “musicals are so fucking stupid dude” but once they see him come out of his shell on stage and with david they’re like wow...nvm follow ur DREAMS. actually i’ve decided alex is sharpay. meeting matteo and discovering theatre helps david stop be so achievement-oriented and punishing himself with high standards but learn to enjoy life and appreciate art with the boy that he loves...it’s Beautiful.

in addition to the original getting together story there are two more films where david and matteo are just happily dating and at one point play pretend like they’re kids in david’s treehouse! there’s a little plastic robot and matteo ties a cape around david’s shoulders! duets are sung! it’s very wholesome. 

i can kind of see a “to all the boys i’ve loved before” datteo au where matteo is laura jean and david is peter k and matteo’s love letters get released and he’s terrified of his best friend jonas finding out he’s in love with him! so he agrees to fake-date his old crush david (HIS FIRST KISS WITH A BOY DAVID, I’M SCREAMING) who is convince his ex-girlfriend leonie that he’s over her. of course they fall in love. matteo pines because he thinks david is too good for him and ofc jonas is totally understanding when matteo tells him that this was an old crush (which was originally a lie, but now that he’s met david again, is true) and hanna and mia are his sisters that he confides in...........the only thing is that i don’t want there to be the “no kissing” rule because i’m a SUCKER for kisses during fake-dating that cause incredible existential angst. so yes david kisses matteo ~as part of the charade~........it’s heartbreakingly breathtakingly gentle and tender and david pours all of his love and desire to keep matteo safe into it and matteo’s like Wow Wish He Liked Me Back!

in canonverse, i’ve decided david is afraid of the dark and doesn’t like to sleep in the pitch black so matteo gets a nightlight in a silly shape and covers the ceiling with glow-in-the-dark stars....they lay on the bed and go “”star gazing”” in them sometimes. matteo buys david a new beanie for his birthday and wears it almost as much as he does. david likes seeing matteo in his clothes just as much as matteo likes wearing them, so it works out. david and jonas high five when saying goodbye to each other one time (in a very Bro way) and matteo legit almost cries he feels so lucky to have this. they put potted plants outside on matteo’s balcony and it’s a little tender thing they nuture and take care of together. this is curtesy of angie but when they’re older matteo starts a whole garden in their yard and it feels so Permanent like this is their home and they’re not leaving and he and david both love that. david first calls matteo “baby” over text and spends the rest of the day freaking out about it and matteo reads it and literally Shuts Down like his whole brain and then when they’re having dinner matteo is like “uhhh that text was cool” and then david transitions it to an irl thing. also matteo gets a pet rat and they love to take turns petting it and letting it run around on them, they’re co-rat-dads. like literally matteo will refer to david as “your father” when talking to the rat. when hans hears that HE almost cries it’s very sweet. THE END!!!!

Book#1 The Wizardly Big Magical Break

Chapter 1

  "I love your outfit, Vannessa," My two best friends, Stacy Golightly and Haley Anderson said. We were shopping for clothes, because we might get into a posh preppy boarding school, Pacific Coast Malibu Academy and I intend to make sure we get into the high school. The next day at our high school, Monterey Bay High School we were at our lockers updating our blogs on my website, www.iVannessa.com on the school computer when Amanda Lindale and her possy strutted into the hallway and stopped at our lockers. We go to school in the high school building now that we "Hey, Vannessa. Haley? Stacy? We heard you're moving to Hollywood so you, your sister, Stacy, and Haley can go to Pacific Coast Malibu Academy also known as PCMA and we have news. We are too just to ruin your life, Haley's life, Stacy's life, and MacKenzie's life there." Amanda announced.  They've hated us since second grade when they said we cheated on the math test and here we are now in high school where they'll do anything to turn the whole school against us and ruin our reputations.    

    High school has cliques. You have your jocks,   popular it girls, famous cheerleader drama queens (like us), nerds, and teacher's pets. When I got home my mom said she had a few surprises for me, MacKenzie, Haley, and Stacy. She handed me a blue envelope with the words TO: KNIGHT, VANNESSA FROM: P.C.M.A. ADMISSION OFFICE PRINCIPLE LISA J. LINDONSON in purple capital letters. The letter read: CONGRATULATIONS, VANNESSA KNIGHT! You have been accepted. "We got accepted too." Hayley said cheerfully. Just then me little sister, Milly came down the hall. "Did you tell them about the wizardry thing about us being wizards and all?" She asked. "What wizardry things? I asked. "Your other friends came and dropped these off and they're going to P.C.M.A. too." My stepVmom said with a smile.

   During orientation we each got a leather blue and purple folder with papers that read: Roomates: Haley Anderson and Jade Huntington. Building: Malibu Hall. My student ID card read: Student: Vannessa Jaden Knight Dorm: 101 Cellphone Number: 1-818-987-3983 in purple and blue letters. My room key was decorated with purple hearts, a blue backround, and a blue V on it. I spotted Stacy and Haley with Jade and a nice boy with brown hair. I took out a mirror and stared at my blue and purple braces that torturered my teeth and ruined my life. "Hey, Vanness this is Jade Huntington our new roommate and that's Kendall Jameson. He's in Moore Hall. Hey did you hear all of us have the same schedule." Stacy said. "Hey, beautiful." Kendall said. "Hey, Hotty." I said. "Nice to meet you." I started to scribble something in my notebook.

Style High School Rule # 1: At orientation the folder and your roommates are most important!!!!!!    

   On our first day of boarding school I was put in the same dorm as Haley and Stacy. "Yeah, I know it's bad, but we can survive with Amanda. You have to deal with it." I said with a sigh. At lunch we sat outside. Amanda sat with Renee, Rosalinda, Frieda, Hudson( the second cutest boy at Pacific Coast Malibu Academy), Janis, Maya, and Lulu. While we sat with, Kendall and Jade. "Amanda is so mean, self centered, rude, boring, and dumb." Jade said. "Well I hate her, too. She's a drama queen with bad hair and lots of money, she never does her own laundry, she texts all day even in class." I said. "I know." Kendall said. "She denies us losers and hangs out with the rich and trendy." I said.

   Kendall and Jade exchanged glances and the bell rang for seventh period, algebra. We all ran to our lockers. In class Jade texted me. Here's what we wrote: Jade101diva: R U coming to the gr8 school bash at Jett Records in 5 weeks. Do U have a crush on Kendall? Doesn't UR family own it. R U coming or what? Vannessa101JettRecords: Totally!!!!!!!! My parents invited Melisa Lockington, Annalula Shay, Candy Bolton, and Diana Lesterveal. My sister is flying 2 California 2 organize the decorations at the studio. It's also where I live now. My house is so big it has a country club about two hours away. When summer comes we're going 2 get 2gether and go on a gr8 vacation to New York City and you and the girls can come 2. Fantabulous, right? I do not have a crush on Kendall. I sware. I know it for sure. Jade101diva: Oh really? I still don't agree, but okay. Anyway, what R we going 2 wear? Vannessa101JettRecords: I don't know, but text Haley and Lola so we can go shopping this weekend. Also text Kendall. Pleeeeeeeaaaassee. Jade101diva: I will. I sware to my heart and all of my riches.    After school we went to the Sunset Buffet to eat dinner with my parents. I glanced at my choices on the menu: Drinks

  "We'll take fourteen strawberry mint coconut smoothies, mexican meals, BBQ chicken sandwiches, pepperoni and cheese pizzas, chicken salads, chinese meals, speghetti plates, 7UPs, and a fruit punch, thank you ma'am.  

   The next Jade came over to help us with our powers in the wizard lair in the walk-in-closet in my dorm. After lunch me, Jade, and the girls were excused from all our classes, because Melanie took us to the mall and then to movie auditions with Virginia Rushton. "They're cute, talented, and smart and that's exactly what we need the stars of our new series on Teen World. Teen World has a lot of new shows and movies. The shows are Dramatic High School, The Trendsetters of New York City, Island Girls, Popular Pearls, and Discovered in Tennessee. I'll e-mail you the schedules and when the photoshoots, parties, interviews, and guest appearences are." Virginia said.

   At lunch on Monday I got and e-mail from Virginia that read: Schedule - Dramatic High School Wizards Schedule -

First Rehearsal - Friday @ 2:00

Second Rehearsal - Monday @ 3:00

Third Rehearsal - Wednesday @ 12:00

I don't remember the rest so I just told them the first three.  

    After school I since we had a lot of homework me, Haley, Jade, and Stacy had to use a really cool spell. "Homework work be a firework." We said in unison. After we said the spell we were at Jett Records with a bunch of other wizards. Wizards were everywhere. Suddenly my fairygodmother, Magicalia Knight flashed infront of us. "Greetings, Vannessa. I've been waiting to meet you so I could show give you and your friends your wands, magic lockets (that stores all your magic, unlocks any wizard item, has a tracking device, and has a magic spell charm), spellbooks, magic bookbags (full of anything glam, sporty, and true wizards need to survive as young, magical girls and boys), laptops and iPhones (with magic spell charms on them that can keep a mortal away, secret password, cool magic apps), rings (with magic bright blue diamonds), a sack of diamonds, and magic bracelets wrapped in seven giftbaskets. All of these things have the same password, mermadia persadia. That is your main spell and my gift to you and your friends. Call me if you need any help surviving boarding school or use the gifts I gave you. Please call me godmather or Magicalia. Transportia mortalia." She said. After that we started calling her Magicalia.

     On Monday I ran to me, Kendal, Stacy, Jade, and Haley ran to our lockers and grabbed our magic bookbags. Magic bookbags and items are way better than the ones that they make in companies. During algebra we texted to eachother. We wrote: Vannessa101JettRecords: Hey guys. What's up? KendalSports101: Getting ready to ask one special lady to the party. So, will you go with me? Vannessa101JettRecords: Where? When? What? KendalSports101: To the party. Will you go to the Jett Records party with me in four weeks? Please? Vanessa101JettRecords: OMG!!!! Yessss!!! Yess! Yes!      On Saturday Me, Jade, Haley, and Stacy went to the mall for G.D.O. Girls Day Out. We saw a Tron Legacy and shopped for new outfits. We also shopped for our dresses for the back-to-school party next weekend. On friday we laid out our dresses and went to bed. On Saturday Kendall and I spent the whole day together for our one week anniversary. At 7:30 pm. we were picked up in a seventy-five inch limo. We stayed up 'til 12:30 am. We stayed at the country club for three weeks and Melanie helped us with our wizard training since she's been a wizard for twenty one years. "Hey, Mel is this the big secret that mortals don't know about?" I asked. "Yes. Our father's Poisiden and our mom's Malificlin. We aren't normal and we need to protect our secret and the wizard world. Dad's in Olympus, mom's working in the studio in the wizard world, and I'm in my third year of college with my husband, Chad Ludwig and now I'm Melanie Anne Knight Ludwig, but I'd rather be known as Melanie Anne Knight to most people. Dad wants us at Olympus for our training. He wants to have a daughter with friends who can control magic." Melanie said. On the way to Olympus I casted a weather spell and Melanie said, "Vanness I spent hours waiting for you and you cast a weather spell with a lock." When we got to Olympus Poisiden was happy to see us. "Good afternoon, my daughters. Athena will take you to the wizard lair in the 5th floor of Olympus." He said. "Athena take my girls to the lair and give them to Hermis." He said. "Girls I am Athena the Greek goddess and I will give you to Hermis." Athena said. Hermis is a tall man with flying shoes and apparently our wizard trainer. "Mermaidia persadia is your main spell and you need to keep it a secret from any mortal. To reverse a spell you say it backwards or use the special reverse dust. I'm also giving you pixie dust. A gift from the fairies of Fairy Oaks Nature Preserve a community that protects fairies from con-wizards who squeeze out the pixie dust in a fairy and use the rest of it to make magic honey fro-yos with honey and caramel." Hermis said. We stayed for three hours and we were so amazed. I wish everything was simple. fef
