How to Build and Manage a Community-Centric Program Schedule for Your Community Radio Station
Creating a program schedule for your Community Radio Station (CRS) is like curating a reading list for a book club—it needs to be engaging, varied, and reflective of the interests of your members. For a CRS, your “members” are your community, and building a schedule that captures their attention and sustains their interest is key to success. A well-crafted program schedule doesn’t just ensure…

That CON VER SA TION WOWEEEE. So so needed and for so so long. Just gonna type my inital thoughts cause I want to and why not.
Laudna. Dear Laudna, oh you poor loveable naive dummy. (Said with so much love). She grew up alone. Yes she had her parents and maybe the odd friend here or there but she grew up alone. And then she died in the most horrific way, alone. She woke up alone. She then spent 30 years of her life alone- but this time even more so with her own killer in her head feeding her.
And then she met Imogen, beautiful capable Imogen. A light in her lonely life, the first real light. Now she’s seen Imogen grow in power, in confidence. And she feels like her loneliness, her insecurity, her own head is bringing the love of her life down. She thinks she’s keeping her from flying but she doesn’t realize she’s keeping her from flying too high.
Imogen has been on step away from falling in with Predathos since she first felt the pull. The only thing, just like the words out of Imogen’s lips, the only thing that’s keeping her grounded is Laudna. Imogen’s heart is out walking around as a dead but not so dead woman with a rat bird as a familiar. Without her she’s, well we saw, she’s desperate. Willing to bargain with the her love’s killer to get her back. She’s sleeping with her dead body and ready to fight the Lord and Lady of Whitestone, the city of Whitestone. She tore down a city block, she exhalted, she crawled into hell after her. Laudna is Imogen’s tether, her red thread wrapped around her wrist, without her there isn’t.
Without Imogen- Laudna doesn’t have her light, her anchor keeping her from falling back into the dark.
Without Laudna Imogen flies too high never to be seen again.
They’re co-dependent. They’re ready to destroy the world to get the other back. They never want to leave one another. They want to protect each other above all else- the gods, Predathos, Exandria be damned.
They’re also scared.
Laudna is scared she’s holding Imogen down.
Imogen is scared Laudna will leave her and fall away.
They’re ride or die in the worst and best ways. I’m so curious to see how their story goes. I’d like to believe they have a happy ending though. Maybe. Probably not, but hey it’s good to have some hope and crazier things have happened eh? It’s D&D after all.
#Marisha and Laura I adore you and these characters#their chemistry has always been a big draw for me watching CR and they are giving us FOOD#the hopeful romantic in me is desperate for their story to be happy and to end happy but man the story is stacked against them#it had to be the gays and it had to be the most layered characters to every layer#le sigh#I love this show#critical role#imodna#not your regularly scheduled programming

Ok, so I'm watching c3e120 of Critical Role, because the c3 finale is out now, and I'm just one episode behind. And if you had asked me before today what the greatest moment in CR history was for me, I would have said Jester and the Dust of Deliciousness in c2. At the time, I was screaming, mind blown, play of the campaign right there.
But Laura fucking ✨harp music✨ Bailey went and did it again! Imogen with the Ring of Remembrance casting Meteor Swarm. 😮 I am shaking, crying, climbing the walls. And she gets it done. HDYWTDT indeed

I remember a post you made about how Sam is good at flavoring mechanics story wise, like singing his bardic inspirations, and a different post you made about how Marisha has seemed to struggle a bit with character motivations, and also how Laura was being conflict averse this campaign. What do you think each player’s biggest strengths and weaknesses are?
I think I may have answered this elsewhere but it's certainly not tagged in a useful manner and I am currently on a train meandering through the dumb state of Connecticut so:
Sam is as mentioned very good at knowing what makes a good story and specifically good entertainment. However, I think he tends to be one of the cast members who most wants very clear GM guidance; his boldest move was in fact one that required GM involvement and pre-approval. Honestly these are two sides of the same coin; caring about the audience is good, but caring too much can be an issue.
Marisha, yeah, I think tends to lean towards very loose/find it along the way character concepts and I think she actually does better when there is a stronger structure for her character. I'm going to be honest - prior to Campaign 3 I'd say her strength was interpersonal relationships, and to be fair the interpersonal aspect in C3 for everyone was kind of a mess so it's not specifically her (and if future works are good I'll write it off as just One Bad Campaign/specific to one character and return to this as her strength), but as is, not so much as a player, but I do genuinely believe she is excellent at creative direction. I think her switch to pandemic programming was one of the strongest and smoothest I saw in the actual play industry (granted, limited) and I think most shows CR has done that haven't gone over well have been issues of scheduling or uh. fandom entitlement, more than any missteps on her part.
Laura's weakness is definitely nonconfrontation/worrying that she is doing the right thing. (She and Sam are not dissimilar in that, but Sam counterbalances it by embracing failure and she also struggles with letting a character fail). Marisha benefits from structure, as with Keyleth, and Laura benefits from having a character that either lets her turn those anxieties off, like Jester, or who leans into that being the character's fear, like Vex. Her strength is that she is one of the strongest actors in the cast if not the strongest (Laura, Travis, and Ashley tend to top my personal list in terms of sheer acting chops). Even when I've found her characters frustrating I've found her acting compelling, hence what I said about soap operas that one time.
Liam's weakness is, and this is extremely a personal preference - all are, but whereas I can make a semi-objective case for many of the others this is just me, being sappy as hell. I had difficulty with Vax for this precise reason while still generally enjoying the character's motivation and arc; Liam is in my opinion at his best when he deliberately goes for more restrained or antagonistic characters. Like, there's a time to be big and cheesy (eg, the final scene switch of friends around a table in the Chicago live show) but my taste is more sparing perhaps than most (for metaphorical cheese. not for real cheese). His strength I think is also kind of the flip of this coin; he is exceptionally collaborative. I think it's no coincidence that the twins and Caleb and Veth are two of the most enduring duos of "characters who came in together" or that he's managed to do successful romances with NPCs or with a guest actor; during C1 and C2 he was really good at drawing in Ashley when she returned from extended absences.
Taliesin's strength is that he has some of the most interesting and weird character concepts that lend humanity to people who would often be denied it by a narrative - the creator of a horrible weapon; someone literally without a soul; a gutter punk - and he commits to them whole-heartedly, even the uglier parts. I think his weakness is honestly kind of similar to Matt's DM weakness, which is that he straight up has maybe a completely random chance of properly clocking someone else's character's motivations. Like, either he absolutely gets it (eg, Vex) or he says things on Talks or 4SD about other people's characters that make me go "????" and then the actor for the other character goes "????" and I'm like oh ok I'm not wrong. (This perhaps most easily demonstrated with Shardgate, which, great moment, absolutely tops, but the fact that Taliesin the Player thought Matt was doing anything BUT signaling "DON'T FUCKING DO THIS" is ????? to me and always will be; I cannot see how he could have made that more clear.)
Travis, frankly, just Gets It, like, I think the Age of Umbra session zero is demonstrative of him just being able to immediately get to the core of a work. He's strong mechanically, he's strong as an actor, he is able to generate plot hooks from pretty much anything (RIP sidequests from Novos, in a different campaign you would have been great), and he is unafraid to take big swings. He's definitely made choices I am personally less into, but honestly my only real criticism is that he sometimes plays a more jokey character in between the Fjord, Cerrit, Nathaniel types that I prefer (and even then, Grog and Chetney go at least five times harder then their concepts would imply, and it is an error to dismiss them as jokes).
Ashley is also as mentioned a very strong actor, and I also think she is unheralded as a worldbuilder for her characters; Pike, Yasha, and Fearne all have characters or locations associated with them who, even when she's had limited screentime or the story has followed other paths, feel incredibly real. I also think that she's grown a lot mechanically over the course of C3 and shows a lot of promise and I'm interested in seeing what she does with Daggerheart. I think she can be indecisive; as mentioned, I don't really blame her in C3 for a number of reasons not to mention she does a great job of integrating that as a character concept, but I really do want to see her make bolder moves.

There have been few more damning lines in recent American politics than the one George W. Bush and his crew used against Democratic presidential rival, Senator John Kerry, when Bush won reelection in 2004. In Kerry’s own words: “I voted for the Iraq war before I voted against it.” I know what he meant—he turned against it when he realized it had been fought under false pretenses and wanted to stop the spending. But Bush and Co. branded Kerry a spineless flip-flopper; Republicans even brandished flip-flops at their convention.
Roughly 20 years later, that painful memory should highlight the danger of Democratic senators thinking they can have things both ways: appeasing Republicans and also pleasing their base. But that’s what Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer has done in agreeing to go along with the Republican’s funding bill to avert a government shutdown. Yes, the same bill that the House Republicans passed on Wednesday before tossing it to the Senate—and then going home for a fabulous “GOP Gone Wild!” spring break.
Up until Schumer’s Thursday night floor speech, it was a pretty fluid situation, with the vote scheduled for Friday afternoon. But this is what is likely to happen now that Schumer has come out in support of the six-month funding bill: Ascendant Republicans, who control the Senate and House, made clear that they intend to push through this CR—they call it a clean CR, but let’s brand it the dirty CR, since it has awful provisions, including a snuck-in cruelty that would cut $1 billion from the budget of Washington DC, increase military spending, and cut nonmilitary programs to keep the government open until next September. Neither the House nor Senate have negotiated with any Democrats on any of the provisions of this resolution.

The only thing I've learned over the course of Campaign 3 is that the Critter community has difficulty taking consistent and apparent, but occasionally not explicitly communicated, information to come to a conclusion on their own. Or not capable of using provided resources to gain further context for information.
And to be clear ... this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Campaign 3 itself, it's plot, it's story, or literally anything contained within the game itself, or what anyone thinks of it.
We are 3+ years into this release schedule in addition to 4 1/2 years total into Critical Role doing nearly exclusively prerecorded content. They methodically share their expected broadcast schedule. They stick to a reliable pattern. They make this information easy to obtain in multiple ways.
It has been my bugbear for years now that, despite all of this, there is always a significant uptick in questions about if there is an episode on Thursdays [this past and current Thursday somewhat not withstanding for obvious reasons] across nearly every corner of Critter space. This has grown notably more common over the years. This really makes it feel like the community attracts people less likely to seek out resources or attempt to discern answers for themselves.
[random ranting under the cut]
The last year has gotten SO BAD with this.
I will see the same person post across 3-4 different social media asking if there's an episode tonight ... even if you're a 1000% noob to CR it would have taken you less time to google Critical Role, click on their home page, and see that their Programing Schedule is in their main page carousel ... than it would take for a rando on the web to answer you.
I will see people that have been in Discord servers for a reasonable amount of time ask if there's not an episode today when the last message posted 10 min ago clearly states it's an off week because it's the last Thursday of the month.
I will see so many people that are not new be confused every time there is a CR cast member doing something 'live' or they are at an out of area event while CR is on or has an episode that night.
And now because of the unfortunate situation with the fires in California I've got a whole new one where apparently people generally didn't notice that when CR puts out their Programing Schedule it's normally accompanied by promo pictures from the upcoming Campaign 3 episode if there is that one that week ... I've had to explain to way more people that I though would need to know this that ... in order for this to happen they have to have filmed that episode before the Programing Schedule is put out on Mondays.

Hey are they still doing the one episode a week for tlovm? Has anything came out that says differently? I’ve seen some say they are going to be doing doing the usual three episode drops a week but now I’m confused. I mean I guess we’ll see. Just wondering.
They're doing three per week; that Nerdist article was incorrect! According to CR's fall programming schedule, they'll be discussing episodes 1-6 on October 15th and 7-12 on October 29th:

A little disclaimer before I say anything, MINORS PLEASE SCROLL AWAY!!!!!!!!

Anyways back to regularly scheduled programming, in the spirit of making shifting more fun again I wanted to mention 2 things I've used recently to successfully shift.

1. If you haven't already I highly recommend you try using the O method to manifest a shift or literally anything cuz that shit works like magic. I used it once before bed and woke up in my dr.
2. On the more pg side, I have this bracelet that I always wear like no matter what, like I sleep in it and in the 5 years since my brother bought it for me I rarely take it off, I only ever take it off when I shower. Idk why, I just love the bracelet sue me. 😒🙄
Anyways recently I decided to use it for shifting in a sense. Before I shift I take off the bracelet and hold it in my hands and imagine any doubts or negative emotions and stress from my cr are drawn out of my body and absorbed by the bracelet. Then when I'm done I put it away and shift.

JES YOU UPDATED, the kids miss you/j
I've been busy doing a lot of nothing, if that makes sense. Well, maybe not nothing - a random assortment of rl and blog odds-and-ends that don't seem very productive but I'm going to call it self-care. lol
(read more cause this got longer than I thought it would.)
I don't usually take March Break off work, but my empty schedule this year surprised me and I didn't really know what to do with myself. I spent the first few days fending off a persistent headache, then I spent some time re-watching Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel while I worked on some crossover/fusion potential with OM. Today the headache is back and I'm dog-sitting which shouldn't be as distracting as it is. (She's only a little Boston Terrier but my cats get all worked up about it even though they're the ones stalking her around the house for no reason.)
I've also been playing Honkai Star Rail. I have no idea what I'm doing but it's kind of fun. I want to give Genshin Impact a try too, but I'm not sure I want to play both. (I know dailies are optional blah blah blah but if I'm going to spend time doing busywork like that, I might as well go back to playing WoW.)
Someone sent me another ask about my current WIPs so I think I'll just ramble about them here.
The canon cast and OC post for surgery!anon. I'm trying to balance fluff and angst and realism and make it comforting at the same time (aka what I would've wanted to read before mine). There's some overlap with a post about Solomon's humanity that's it's own separate WIP.
Naming conventions in the Devildom and CR. These are my worldbuilding ideas to explain how Solomon has an established pact with Bathin (my OC for Mephisto's younger brother) since he's part of the Ars Goetia. This also discusses how those same ideas apply to Luke.
Fleshing out the angel OC stuff with Gabriel and Uriel. They're situated in the AU where MC is sent to the CR for the exchange program and not the Devildom which is why I haven't talked about them much. I have the fem!angel OC as well but I don't know what to name her (I want her to be like Zee where she's an "ordinary" angel). To be fair, she's probably not going to show up much outside of the story I originally wrote for her.
Genderbending-the-OCs anon, you have no idea what this is doing to me. It changes their kinks and their dynamics and how they would approach MC and I am mentally screaming into a pillow right now.
I've been writing directly in my Tumblr drafts lately, but I found a holiday fic for Solomon in my google docs. I thought it was a WIP but then I re-read it and it turns out I actually finished it and somehow forgot about it? Like...how does someone even do that. Anyway, do we want a smutty Solomon Xmas-in-March fic? (It's only holiday-ish because of a corny mistletoe joke on his part.)
On a random note, part of me regrets not making separate blogs for AT and my OCs (for organizational purposes) and I'm lowkey tempted to do it anyway.
If you read all this, you get a prize! Enjoy some chibis that I've been collecting like they're for my OC Pokedex. These are by sempa and ocha respectively.
