Welcome Back, Arianne Reyes--Yani graduated from the UP College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (Political Science), the UP College of Law (JD), the New York University (LLM) and the Hertie School, Berlin (Master of Public Policy), where she focused on international law, digital governance, corruption and health inequality, with a thesis on Dissecting the "disinfodemic": Regulation of fake news in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. She worked as Lead for Policy and Interagency for CHED and USAID STRIDE and as a Consultant for the Asian Development Bank and the Department of Transportation and Communication. She served as the Research Editor of the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance, as a consultant at the Senate of the Philippines, and as an attorney with the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines.

She likewise worked for several years in a law firm where she gained experience in litigation and corporate practice.

Supreme Court Justice and the 1st Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) President J.B.L. Reyes is her paternal grandfather. Besilda Mueler Ocampo-Buencamino is her maternal aunt, the first Filipina Miss Universe semifinalist (1954).

Currently, Yani is based in Berlin where she is chapter president of the UPAA - University of the Philippines Alumni Association in Germany 🌻🌻🌻

Welcome to UP Cats!

I created this page to share my love for the animal population of the University of the Philippines - Diliman, with a focus on its cats. This page's poster cat is Penny, a tuxedo girl from Palma Hall. Sweet and soft, she is loved by everyone in the building, hence serving as one of the poster cats of the building and UPD CSSP. She is also a mother of four or five kittens, nursing them amidst the ever-busy corridors and halls of the building. I love her and her children so much, that I would love to think of them as Palma Hall's La Sagrada Familia.

Nakakabigla ang mga pangyayari. Ang bata mo pa at madami pang magagawa at pangarap sa buhay. Di ko alam na ganun na pala kalala. Pag kasi nakakachat kita di mo pinapramdam na may pinagdadaanan ka.

Naging mag kaibigan tayo nung pareho tayong naging SA (student assistant) tapos naging mag classmate sa ibang subjects.

Mula college hanggang sa pag graduate isa ka sa mga sinasabihan ko pag nag eemo ako lalo na sa lablayp. Siyempre pati sa life problems lagi kang nakikinig at nagpapayo.

Maaalala kita bilang masayahin, masarap kasama at walang arte sa katawan. Sumasama ka kahit sang kainan, mapa fastfood, karinderya o kaya street food.

Pumupunta ka sa CS dean's office para lang humiram ng card reader.

Natatandaan ko pa nung sumali ka sa miss CICT. Ang tanong sayo ay, "kung magiging pagkain ka, anong pagkain ka?" Ang sagot mo ay suman. Pero di ko na matandaan ang explanation mo kung bat suman.

Everytime na pumupunta ko sa HR office o kaya nakikita ko ni ma'am Gie ay lagi niya akong tinatanong kung naging tayo daw ba. Pa ulit ulit ko namang sinasabing hindi pero ayaw niya talagang maniwala. Para bang hinihintay niya yung sagot na oo para lang maokray ako. Haha

Pero ang di ko makakalimutan sa lahat ay yung maglalunch tayo. Naiwan mo yung bag sa CSSP office kaya binalikan natin. Pagbalik ay nakalock kaya sabi mo sa akin ay ipasok ko kamay sa bintana para mabuksan ko mula sa loob. Gulat ko lang nung biglang may humawak sa braso ko. Nasa loob pala si dean Naguit. Hiyang hiya tuloy ako. Haha

Nah, kung nasan ka man ngayon alam ko na nasa better place ka na. No more pain and suffering. Hanggang sa muli.

The UP College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) Folklore Studies Program, under its Kadunong Lecture Series, hosted Dr. Anril Tiatco’s lecture, “Ang Santacruzan sa Buwan ng Mayo: Panata at Mito sa Bawat Hakbang sa Paghanananap ng Banal na Krus nina Reyna Elena at Prinsipe Konstantino.”

Dr. Tiatco discussed findings from his fieldwork experiences on the Santacruzan in Batangas, Bulacan, Laguna, Pampanga, and Quezon, and at the Municipality of Pateros with team members Dr. Jem R. Javier (Linguistics) and Assistant Professors Madilene Bereña Landicho (Anthropology) and Popo Tabao Amascual (Theatre Arts).

Dr. Tiatco is a UP professor of performance studies who earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore. He was a visiting scholar at the Research Institute for Cosmopolitan Cultures at the University of Manchester. UP conferred upon him the title of University Artist (UP Artist II) under the UP Artist Productivity System Award. He received a Carlos Palanca Award for Full-Length Play (2009) and the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) Achievement Award for the Humanities (2021). 

He is slated to leave for New York as one of this year’s Asian Cultural Council's Global Grant Cycle awardees. For six months, he will undergo training in dramaturgy through an apprenticeship while learning the latest trends in dramaturgical practice through workshops, forums, and one-on-one interviews with Broadway, and Off-Broadway dramaturgs.
