The PUBLIC RELEASE of the Empire State singles match is available for everyone! I'm so excited for you guys to read it. I know it's been a while, but we are ~back~!!

Public release is OUT!

It's time for the Sam weekend aftermath, folks! >:) It's nearly a full chapter of just... dealing with the consequences of your actions. And also just having fun with your hallmates/teammates.

Truly the scary season.

Anyway, let me know if there's any bugs, I'll be working on pushing improvements + typos etc. over the next 2-3 days.

CT:OS Halloween bonus

As promised, wrote like a fiend this month and banged out almost a full chapter's worth of content for spooky season!

The update is three-quarters of chapter 7 (about 40k words including code and variants), and picks up where Sam's visit left off.

Release dates:

It will be out to ko-fi supporters on 31 Oct, and a week after to the public :)

Features:

Deal with the aftermath of your decisions over the weekend (talk to G, Tobin or Rayyan) <True horror>

Attend a language fellow/exchange student dinner-gathering as G's plus one (and the only American in the group). <the G-only scene I promised! You don't have to be dating.>

Prep Halloween costumes with your hallmates (yes, chaotic), and go trick or treating! 🎃

Attend a party after with the team ... then stay for horror movie marathon + sleepover or head back to Haynes to end the night with G.

Yep, Halloween hookups (however ill-advised ;)) are possible.

You can end this chapter very much in a committed relationship with the RO of your choice.

More details on the rest of the chapter/plans for CT:OS for 2024 below the cut.

Note: The rest of chapter 7 will include midterms, a time-skip (with some training/a match) and some fall festival shenanigans (because I love fall festivals). It should add up to a pretty chunky chapter that pretty much seals Act 1 of CT:OS (the 'settling into Cargill' part - establishing most of MC's friendships, routines, and possibly romances, forming a solid base for Act 2.)

I'll start writing the rest of the chapter once I'm done with Merry Crisis, and hope to get it out by end-Dec. We'll see! :)

How are you? I hope everything is well, and this isn’t a rude question but when it, another chapter coming out? Sorry if you don’t have definitive date

Hi! I'm just doing the finishing touches and edits for CT:OS (College Tennis: Origin Story) and once the public release goes live this week (11 Apr), I'll be turning my focus to Merry crisis.

Hope to have something to show for it in about a month or so, meaning a possibly early-release after beta-testing in End May :) Hope that doesn't sound like too long, but do know that I'm already starting to outline the chapter!

Also, it's the second last chapter, so things will get juicy! The final climax of the IF will come in this update (and the resolution in the following update), so I definitely want to give myself time to cook it well!

Hi Amy! I just wanted to pop by to tell you just how much I love your IF.

Like, I've always had a soft-spot for band/music-related content (e.g. Choice of the rock star was actually one of the first games I ever bought/played in this genre, despite all its flaws) and THEN you come in (like a wrecking ball) with the most stunning, well-written, richly-layered, beautifully-crafted band-IF of all time!!!

I never stood a chance, really. Also can I just say that the way you set up MC and Seven Lawless's backstory and the tension between them now—I loved every minute of it. [I really liked how you revealed it piece by piece (and it still has more to give)—real masterclass writing right there, god.] And, the conflict/reason for their break-up is heartbreaking and so real and understandable.

And ALL of the characters are so loveable and multi-dimensional and just fun to be around. The story/world too is so immersive. I could gush about how much I love the IF for hours and hours but yeah, suffice to say I absolutely can't wait for Chapter 2.

Do you have any sports based/sports if recommendations?

I have three! Sport-based ifs are definitely a niche genre. The @/interact-if blog will have some more on their sport tag so check that.

@collegetennisoriginstory — My first sport if story! I love Allie’s writing! CT:OS is definitely a huge inspiration for Beyond The Game too, more than you know. Her story definitely ignited my like for tennis, and the ros are a delight—I always battle between romancing Rayyan, Sam or Tobin—and just the fact that all the tennis matches feel soo real too. I could go on and on about this but yeahhh, CT:OS is in my top three ifs that I regularly check on for updates <33

@thephoenix-if — A pretty new if, it’s on Twine and has a diverse set of ros! Alsoo, a taekwondo if! There’s such originality with that and it’s something I’m such a fan of. I’m intrigued to see how this story develops.

@circuit-if — If you’re an F1 fan then this is a story for you! I find it so cool that the ros aren’t just race car drivers like the mc, there’s diversity with that. And another original sporting idea that’s graced the if world. There are super cool customisation options too.

Hey there!! Im not the most consistent tumblr scroller but when I have time sometimes I come check your page out and I stumbled across your post on your art journey and man, it was really special to read.

I really liked what you said about practice and experimentation, and starting with copying/tracing/referencing folk we really like), and slowly finding a way to develop asystem that works for us, whether it be for brushes or writing- in my case!

I also really resonated with the part about finding something to be inspired by, to push us to create our own shit - and I guess thats the cool thing about art, and writing, and music, and science etc etc I guess? The fact that everyone builds on the stuff that comes before!

But yes - it's been so cool and 21st century weird, I guess - to feel like I've seen your work evolve in this year thanks to tumblr?

I've gotten a lot of comments from people saying they could never draw the way I do and it's frustrating bc like. Yeah you're gonna suck at drawing for a while but everyone goes through that stage! You'll never get better at anything if the fear of failing prevents you from even starting! And the feeling you get when you compare your recent art to your older drawings (or writing, in your case) and see nothing but improvement is unparalleled. I can't speak for everyone obviously but when I compare sth I've drawn recently to my earlier digital artworks I get a massive rush of pride because I know how much effort I've put into art over the past few years and sometimes I forget it. But then I see the progress and it all feels worth it again. It really is a special feeling! And to be honest I feel like showcasing growth is so important. Like that's part of the reason I still keep all of my old art on my ig page - I could delete it bc it's embarrassingly bad in my eyes, but seeing it evolve over time is sth that really motivates me, and hopefully motivates anyone else who makes or is considering making art :)

And the fact that everyone builds on the stuff that comes before!! So very true! It's wild to think that the people I look up to have their own sources of inspiration, who in turn have their own sources, etc in an endless cycle! I can't think about it too much bc it'll get overwhelming really quickly but it's incredible, isn't it?

Anyway this will get long too unless I stop myself haha, talking about art will never not get me excited. I'm sending you so much love too, it's lovely to see you here 💞

Public release of CT:OS Ch 7 pt. 2

The public release of the Chapter 7 pt. 2 update has gone live! Play it here!

This covers the quarter-final match against Sam, the post-match interview, and the conversation with Sam after :) 

Word count: About 70k words in (messy) code, but likely about 20-25k words play-through since there’s quite a few varying branches in this (different partners, Felix hookup etc.) ​

Some real tennis action—the full quarter-final match against Sam!! (In time for Roland Garros season, whew!)

A potentially tense moment between Felix and Sam if you’d hooked up with Felix while in a relationship with Sam

An option to kiss Tobin/Rayyan after the match and settle your teammates’ bets once and for all

Post match interview where you’ll be able to admit to being in a relationship with Sam, Tobin, or Rayyan

Game skip feature:

You can also skip right to the new content, i.e. Sam QF match OR to the beginning of Chapter 7.

I’ve also added passwords to skip the doubles matches leading up to the tournament now.

Share a bed with Sam… pt. 2

Have a tough (?) or happy (?) conversation with Sam before they leave on Sunday.

I have some hopefully good news!

I’m finally wrapping up the new content for CT:OS that I’d hoped to include in the next release, and will be able to send it off to beta-testers in ~2 days time. We’re really close to an update!

Release dates:

Early-release of the update to ko-fi/patreon supporters: 28 Mar

General/Public release: 11 Apr
