My brain just remembered that it's mermay so I turned myself and a handful of my friends into mermaids

There is a very pretty drawing of a mermaid that Tumblr keeps showing me but it has the tail start half way at the thighs, so it's like these weird legs that suddenly fuse in the middle to become a fish tail and it makes me so mad.

I usually don't post character design WIPs but they take me so long that I kind of just wanted to share something for once.

A potential anatomical makeover for Theresia! Some kind gryphon-centaur creature inspired by a mix of Dromaeosaurid and Microraptor.

Some more WIPs and a little explanation under the cut.

Drawing her monster form is such a pain because her design is a little overcomplicated and leaves very little room for a clear silhouette, especially when you add wings. And because I liked Lynel Theresia a lot (and also have been hyped by the Dungeon Meshi anime coming out, Falin/Farlyn my beloved) i thought maybe it's time for her to get a little more space to her body to make room for all those details! I also wanted to simplify her stone patterns and set her wings apart from her body.
