Been doing chores and cooking dinner and thinking a lot on Chapter 10 today. One of the things I KNEW I wanted in FRW when I started it was the most pathetic cringefail "Say my name" "Master" interaction that I could muster up. And I got it. Oh boy did I get it.

Suddenly it isn't enjoyable, it doesn't feel good, and he's trying to gain control back the only way he knows how.

“… Say my name.” He chokes out, staring down the staticky projection of the Doctor in front of him.

Three words. The Doctor knew them well. But this time there’s… less threat hanging over them. He’s frustrated and angry and confused, all the same. He sighs at him. “Why are you doing this?”

His tongue traces over his teeth, considering any answer he could give the Doctor.

None of them would be the right answer, though. Which was that the reason why he was doing this was glaring directly at him in a bow tie.

“… Say my name.” There is less of a threat, less edge and more wobble, which was funny, considering he’s clearly holding his companion hostage.

“It was going so well.” The Doctor laments. For five minutes, it was going well, maybe. “You don’t have to do this.” If only the Doctor knew what this was. He has dozens of ideas, though.

“Say. My. Name.” He thinks he’s stronger in the execution, but his voice wavers and almost cracks in uncertainty.

The Doctor’s frustration morphed into something else. There was still fear, still uncertainty. But then he gives him what he wants.

“...Master…” He says it, voice steady and firm, with eye contact. The Master tries to enjoy a sense of winning that comes with it, trying to find the delight. But the Doctor is speaking again before he can even begin to relish the word. “… Are you okay?”

"I escaped!" the words surging out in a voice and intensity that was not Leper's. His face was furious, but his eyes denied the fury; instead they saw it before them. They were filled with terror.

"What do you mean, you escaped?" I said sharply. "You don't escape from the army."

Liliya: They never got to see such a nice place before, but now they can sleep tight here forever. Rozaliya: I really hope they like this place.
