The answer has been sitting right before him this entire time, but he had been too blinded by his own hatred of Kenobi to see it. And Skywalker's hero worship of the man hadn't helped, of course. The way Skywalker talked of his old Jedi master evoked images of untouchable saints, glowing angels, benevolent deities...the same way he talked of those sentients he fancied himself in love with at the height of his relationships with them. Gilded and perfect and infallible. It was the way Skywalker loved, to paint his paramours as idols placed upon a pedestal.

How had Sidious missed that Skywalker had already done the same thing with Kenobi? Years ago! For years, he has endured Skywalker's fanatical praise of his Jedi master. He has listened to him complain about the man, his fastidiousness, his devotion to the Jedi Order--but oh, those moments that Sidious had made the mistake of agreeing with Skywalker's own words! He has never felt closer to losing Skywalker's trust than those times he let a bad word about Kenobi slip past his lips, even though Skywalker himself had already said much more damning things.

And yet no matter the argument, no matter the disagreement between Kenobi and Skywalker, Skywalker's faith in his master did not waver. He never took his master down from that pedestal, no matter how many times Kenobi revealed himself to be just a man.

Sidious has spent years resenting that, resenting Skywalker's unshakeable devotion to his master. He has spent years trying to ingratiate himself to the boy, trying to replace Kenobi as the boy's mentor, his father. And every time he has failed because it seems that no matter how often Kenobi manages to break Skywalker's heart, Skywalker gives it to him again without hesitation.

But...but if Skywalker were to see Kenobi through the lens of a man in love, if they were to fall into bed together and strike up a romance, then surely...surely Kenobi would flinch at the force of Skywalker's naked devotion.

F. fey. What kind of fey or fairy creature would your OC be? Would they be in a spooky, intense fairy world or a playful, lighthearted fairy world?

DAI — the thing is dai would thrive in the feywild. the rules and the rituals and the playing with the truth without lying are so incredibly up his alley, and I’m a little inclined to say he should be an archfey except obviously his very being is tied to the matter and magic of the plane, so is there like. a step up from archfey? dai’s ideal ultimate fey version of the self is the living breathing spirit of the feywild I think

KOL — kol would end up in a scary, high-stakes, trolls-and-goblins fairy world. real “you must not look at goblin men you must not buy their fruits” vibes. she’d be a goblin in the way of the goblin emperor goblins; strange and tied up in status and ritual

BRAN — bran’s obviously a trickster sprite of some kind, and I think her fey vibes would be way more along the fun/playful spectrum than the spooky/cursed spectrum. immense summer court energies. ough summer eladrin bran would be so good

H. horror. Would your OC survive in a horror situation? What would their role be? How would they deal with being tossed in a horror scenario?

DAI — I know so little of horror tropes idk why I did this to myself. he’d be the healer/doctor figure and a voice of reason, and his reticence to believe in The Monster would mean that he doesn’t survive. he’d sacrifice himself a little past the midpoint in order to get the group some kind of information or missing piece—knowledge of the monster or rescuing someone trapped or making sure everyone else can get out. definitely would involve someone (ozy) dragging someone else (zaref) away (and then zaref would sacrifice himself later to injure the monster and make sure the rest of the party could escape, probably). he’d be pretty even-keeled and try to hide his fear but it would be there if you knew how to look—shaking hands, a desperate sort of alertness, etc.

KOL — kol’s life is a horror situation. unfortunately she’s just a little too curious for her own good and it would get her into trouble in any kind of horror/thriller/etc. scenario. I don’t think she’d survive but she’d go out fighting.

BRAN — I think bran could survive a horror situation. she’s got the belief in the monster, plus a capacity for outside the box thinking, plus a kind of self-imposed mythos that would give her like, meta plot armor. also she has a crew of friends and loved ones to lose and/or protect. I think she’d be like, the last one to sail from [insert cursed island here] and live to tell about it and it would be part of her mythology (y'know, POTC coded.)

U. underworld. How would your OC deal with being part of a criminal underworld? Would they be a thief, a spy, a conman? Something else?

DAI — ohhhhh daichi doing crime is such a fun thought. I don’t know how he’d end up involved, but I do think it would build on the harder and sharper parts of him (the part of him that would willingly torture someone, for example). he’d be the guy whispering in a gang leader’s ear, watching everything and reporting back with his insight, never obviously in charge but always around when decisions are being made. best keep your head down when amelkiir is around; he sees everything

KOL — tbh I wanted kol to be a little more involved in the underworld during the time skip but it didn’t work out with the empire stuff. in an AU, she’d be someone’s dog, definitely—going where she’s told, fighting who she’s meant to fight, breaking into places and coming out with information or promises or goods or silenced enemies. she’d have some cliché name and have outsourced her decision-making to someone else and not even think about it until she has to

BRAN — bran’s already part of the criminal underworld, she’s just got a flair for the dramatic and the freedom to operate how she wants. she’s still a smuggler, and sometimes a conman. she’s also got enough of a moral backbone to put her conning and crime to work for the little guy (and herself. but the little guy still factors in)
