Cheetahs are naturally anxious animals. Actually, they are so anxious that in captivity they must have support dogs so that they can socialize with other animals. Chigiri was never one for socializing and simply wanted to get to the top as fast as possible in whatever he did. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that when he got injured he closed himself away from everybody.

You had known each other ever since he entered middle school and so seeing him suddenly get so anxious as his sister brings you over was a new, if not surprising, development.

If anything, you thought all the growth and work you did to be his friend was in vain with the way he stared through you and refused to speak to you. It actually broke your heart a little to see that the effort you took to befriend him, all your one-sided conversations, your bad attempts at doing football, and even trading homework answers all went down the drain. You understood why, but it still hurt. Perhaps a little part of you had a crush on him, though you'd sooner die than admit it.

However, even though you were absolutely sure he hated your guts his sister convinced you to stay around at least until he healed. Obviously, you found his silence and glaring uncomfortable, especially since coming to the realization you liked him, but you eventually got used to it. It was different from the Chigiri you knew but you still cared for him. Even if it made your heart squeeze and cry over the fact he likely, probably, hated you, it didn't make you like him any less. You kind of hated him for it.

What you didn't know was how much he looked forward to his sister bringing you home after school so that you could help him with his physical therapy. That you were his only friend after he got injured and it meant so much to him that you just stayed.

Or that ever since he got injured all he could really think about besides football was you and overthinking every little thing you two did together. Trying to find something, anything, that hinted towards you liking him. Because he'd rather give up and die than be without you at this point.

That he always stuck next to you when you were around and how his anxiety and pains felt irrelevant when you were with him. How he would miss you the moment you left, his sister teasing him about his 'puppy crush'. How all he could really think about as he finally stepped back onto the grass with a newly constructed leg was getting you back.

Many cheetahs require their support dog and usually connect with them for life. Chigiri is no different. And even if he has to fight for that affection back, he isn't one to half-ass anything he is passionate about.

A pun that gets lost in translation: Mr Pigeon is perched like a bird on a branch.

No problem with the hero finishing their sentence in the french dub 👀.

You're going to have to free Paris of these two birds of ill/bad omen.

Once again a pun that gets lost in translation.

In French, the word “pioupiou” is a silly nickname often used for little children. It comes from the sound small birds make, which is often referred to as "piou piou".

stuffed animals that live on the bed

Introducin: the three stuffed animals that live outside of the Indicpherable Mound on Emily's side of the bed.

On Sera's side, there's:

Smoothie the shark. Emily got her on her first (unsupervised) trip to Earth. Might be a blåhaj, might be a generic shark. Emily named her.

One of those Valentine's Day heart plushies with arms. Very soft, usually ends up under Sera's hip but she never considers taking it off the bed. Another gift from Emily.

And on Emily's side, there's:

A sphere with a beak sewn on [not a full bird] plushie. Sera gave him to Emily when Em was very young, and has repaired it with magic so many times that if she still did creation magic he would be animated (like Raz & Daz). His name is Chipchip, because Emily couldn't pronounce her rs for a long time and called birds chirpchirps. ~200 years old.
