22!
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
I wouldn't say "everyone ignores it" but EYE would like more eyes on it: the shady past of TLT old folks that the fandom looks upon, broadly, as "more moral" than the rest. I'm always thinking about Pyrrha's early days founding the Cohort. Pyrrha "loved being a cop" who started the Cohort intelligence department and most likely set up the imperial propaganda machine. On a lesser note: Cassiopeia who founded the Sixth House making sure they could secede at will — but she was also a cutthroat layer in a past life and I would bet anything that she was the one who came up with the lifetime contracts stratagem between the Empire and their colony planet. At which point did these guy decide enough was enough? How do they reconcile their past actions with their eventual goals? Or are they on the hypocritical side, thinking that the main issue with the Houses empire is not its structure but who's currently ruling it?
IDK I just think it's very juicy to explore because these kinds of contrasts make my brain go brrrr. It's the same part of my brain that really loves analysing all the ways in which Abigail was a kind-hearted person who may or may not have managed the necromantic version of the East India Company, or likes to read long meta on what the dynamic between Juno and baby Pal might have looked like.
Hopefully this makes sense, I got a bit rambly

that one thing you see in fics all the time?
I dunno about all the time but I'm not a fan of fics where Eddie calls Buck "Evan" all the time. It's different for me when it's Tommy calling him "Evan" because,,, that's just what he calls him, right? But Eddie calls him "Buck" and there needs to be a specific kind of weight behind "Evan" for me, or it kind of loses it's touch. Eddie calls him that when he's seeing into Buck's soul or something so it just feels weird when it's thrown around in fic without there being meaning. But that's just me, and it doesn't stop me from reading the fic. You write them how you want to write them 😅

6, 7, 8 for the hater poll? (star wars)
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
after that ship poll recently? codywan. like we're all being a little annoying campaigning for our faves, but that annoying is all in good fun; these guys, though, definitely started to cross a line a few times. and before that, even as a prequels stan, neither codywan nor its fandom were really on my radar.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
the answer to this is still kylo ren, because i actually really enjoyed him as a character in the force awakens; he had a lot of potential as a very unhinged, entitled villain, but the fandom woobie stuff got out of control so intensely so quickly.
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
star wars is such a fractured fandom that you don't really find uniform consensus about most anything, but! i definitely end up rolling my eyes at a lot of people's takes on the jedi; they're neither flawless beings who can do no wrong nor are they wholly corrupted and evil, they're an institution with good intentions but they're flawed, as all institutions are. i'm very excited for the acolyte this summer, considering what it's going to explore about the jedi order, but i definitely feel like this discourse is going to get especially more rancid after that drops lol

9 and 12 from the choose violence asks!
9. worst (another bonus bad) part of canon
keeping lex alive post s4
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
(this one’s tough because i don’t know who’s considered unpopular but) i’ll say, of the various men throughout i’d say, james and william were done dirtiest by the writers and not set up for success with fandom

8 and 16 for the choose violence ask game?
common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about: jonah magnus being from the 1800's actually doesn't imply anything about him except his age and maybe the fact that he was born during the industrial revolution.
you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc): peter lukas being shy. he would never. that bitch is talkative as hell and probably prefers approaching strangers over talking to people he already knows. he's only bothered by interaction once a genuine connection starts forming. introverted? absolutely. shy? not one bit.

8, 15, +17?
thanks gigi 💗 I heard your food wasn't salty enough so I hope this helps!!
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
okay buckle up akdbkd Idk if it's common across fandom bc he's not super popular but I've seen it enough times to wonder where it came from. And perhaps I am misunderstanding the trope. But I don't think I am. So please I just want someone to explain... how Hien is a himbo. He can be fanciful and maybe a little silly at times, but it doesn't mean he's always head empty! He's still young, he should be at the club if not for the horrors! He's had to play 5d political chess with unlikely and volatile allies and yet some people think he's a clueless idiot and I'm just. so confused how they came to this conclusion. Has he always made the best decision for everyone in every situation? No, but not because he was clueless. At most he might have a himbo moment or two, but how is that his entire personality? I'm sure he'd like to not have to think about anything because he has so much to deal with all the damn time, but that's not the same! But seems to be a popular interpretation (well, as popular as Hien gets, which isn't much.) People are just blinded by Arm I guess. Thanks for coming to my salty Ted Talk!
15. that one thing you see in fanart all the time
I'm by no means saying people can't be thirsty. I'm thirsty too. And boobs are great. But I am a balloon titty hater 😭 this isn't specific to ffxiv but I feel like if people are gonna draw pinups of characters I like when they clearly have skill and thorough knowledge of anatomy, that maybe the tits should look like real tits instead of orbs glued onto a body.
To anyone who genuinely enjoys balloon titties, no shade, you can like what you want. Just don't show me the art akbfkdjf
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
I mean. I would love more variety in terms of what characters get focus? This is partly selfish ofc 😂 but I love when I see art about specific side quests or little job quest moments, or lesser known npcs. I just think more character variety is good in general!
also, bc I feel the need to be positive too akdbkdkd I absolutely love hyper specific headcanon art even if I don't always understand it. Just the fact that people put that much work into it is inspiring. Give me more of that!

3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
I mean, the worst takes I've EVER seen on tumblr would certainly not be in F1blr. I've seen some really dumb discourse in my day. Stuff like "a/b/o is transphobic" and "if two characters have a big enough age gap it's the same as p*dophilia, even if both characters are literally adults". I do count my lucky stars that none of that seems to go on here.
But to really choose violence, my least favorite take on F1blr is the one where people assume people write things a certain way because they are inserting themselves as one of the characters and/or they want to fuck one of the characters. Or when people take it even further and assume that writers must self-insert and/or be attracted to the characters in order to write them properly. That attitude is so baffling to me, it makes my head want to explode. Friends, I am but a voyeur. Also, I don't know how you can possibly properly write a character who exists if you are trying to put too much of yourself in them. You are supposed to be putting yourself in the character's shoes, not putting them in yours!!

13 and 18?
13. worst blorboficiation
It's either Mammon or Diavolo. Sorry to say. But the entire fandom (myself included at times with Mams) tends to gloss over the fact that Mams would literally steal and sell anything you own and then lie to your face about it. And if I see one more bitch call Diavolo a himbo, I'm gonna riot. Man is calculating and manipulative and won't hesitate to use you or anybody else to get what he wants.
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
Do I really need to say it? Like, do I really need to put to words how fucking mad I am at the fandom for how they disregard, mischaracterize, and reduce my love to nothing more than a narcissistic sex fiend?
But also I feel like I never see enough Simeon content.

Thanks for playing, Hack! (Sorry to drag your blorbo like that!)

Violence ask: 20 and 24!!
oooh good ones. in the interest of some genre diversity I'm gonna answer these for Twilight and the Emily books here goes
20 - part of canon you found tedious or boring
Twilight: apparently I'm in the minority here, but the part that's...boring. everyone else on this webbed site seems to love the long descriptions of Bella chopping vegetables or whatever, but not me, sister. also the vampire-less part of New Moon ok sue me
Emily books: there were some definite lulls in Quest, particularly the bit where she's engaged to Dean which I found boring right up until it Wasn't
24 - topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
Twilight: to save us all some time here I'm just gonna link Princess Weekes' "confederate vampires" video
Emily books: I'm not in the fandom, such as it is, but I don't have to be in the fandom to know it's Dean

for the 🔥🔥🔥: part of canon you found tedious or boring
for the lulz: a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring? imo, what pride had wrought is the most boring main story quest. idk if i'm already biased against it due to not liking the inquisition-style gameplay, but i feel like it falls flat compared to here lies the abyss & wicked eyes and wicked hearts. it's just... very railroaded? an infodump of elf lore, and then corypheus turns up 15 mins late with starbucks... that being said it has been several years since i've played dai and i'm hoping to do a replay in the forseeable future so maybe it'll hit different once i play it while more knowledgeable of the relevant lore. i'm also so out of the loop with dai takes that i don't know if this is like. common opinion or not 😅 2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom after my eyes glazed over after recalling all the top/bottom discourse i've encountered over the past decade, my mind basically reconstructing the ladydoingmath.gif, i realised that i was greatly overthinking this question from the 'choose violence ask game' and simply posit: meredith stannard would not bottom because she needs to put her giant collection of dragon dildos to good use. i rest my case. 5. worst discord server and why. I started to type "well I wouldn't know I'm only in COOL discord servers" and then I remembered the big ass TLT server that's linked on reddit and full of normie opinions that I was in for like a day. unless it was a fever dream? that one
6. which ship fans are the most annoying? "normie" griddlehark shippers who think they have to be Made Unproblematic. girl why are you here. TM didn't get twitter cancelled for us to pretend that the ninth house lady x indentured servant ship has to be sunshine and rainbows.....
13. worst blorbofication. ok..... I think actually Cytherea. It's not widespread or anything but I've seen enough posts about how she absolutely had no choice in her actions etc. that it makes my eyes twitch thinking about it. she is SO sad and she's in chronic pain but also she very much killed teenagers and wrote SWEET DREAMS with their blood on the walls to physiologically torture another teenager and she only cared about BoE's goals insofar as she could use them and she killed Dulcie after torturing her and !!!! she looked sexy as fuck the whole time. Diversity win!! this disabled lesbian IS a serial killer <3

James, my love, I am permanently of the mindset that my favs are verse/switch unless explicitly stated otherwise. So tell me, for the violence asks, why your fav wouldn’t top/bottom 😘
I'm also of the verse mindset, but I'll do my best to argue why Eddie would never top.
I think Eddie would initially try topping - maybe because he's a little intimidated? idk - and it would feel good, but then his partner(s) would suggest bottoming and he'd tentatively agree. And it would probably be a little scary to begin with, especially if Eddie feels as though he's relinquishing control (which I think is something he definitely struggles with) but then he realises how fucking good it feels. Plus once he figures out that he can still bottom and be in control (get 'em cowboy) it would be all over for him again. He'd love trying to get himself to tip over the edge without something touching his cock, he'd love the look on his partners face as he flips them onto their back and slowly sink down on them, he'd love the feeling of being worked open and fucked so hard that the next time they could just slip in with ease, and do not even get him started on the magic that is one's prostate. I think he'd just love it and take to it like a duck to water.

9 & 10 for star wars?
9. worst part of canon
i'm sorry for the really uncontroversial answer but it's very much the rise of skywalker 😭 there is literally zero redeeming quality to this film. none. horrible from start to finish, i feel sorry for everyone who had to be involved.
... well, except for kathleen kennedy and jj abrams. kathleen kennedy laid the foundation for this mess, and jj abrams, you're the one who made a mystery box you thought you'd never have to solve and then you did and you clearly fumbled that so. oops lmao
10. worst part of fanon
oh i woke up salty this morning, so here it is: whatever cassian people have thought up in their heads because they transparently want to fuck diego luna that has no relation to the actual character. who is this person, this person is a mystery to me, because this person is most certainly not cassian andor.

choose violence asks: i'm a greedy bitch gimme three. 7, 25, 5, in that order of priority <3
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
maggie
(tbf i was pretty indifferent about her from the start but now if she’s in a fic it’s real borderline on how i’m gonna feel about it)
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
that lena’s 1993 birth year is too young
(like yeah it’s true and canon shouldn’t have done it once they cast someone almost a decade older but let her be a prodigy fuck it use it to piss off lex that’s always fun ya know)
5. worst discord server and why
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (not on discord)

1 and 7, comrade in hate 💗
thanks azia! you're right these are kind of hard to answer akdbjd
1. the character everyone gets wrong
hmm it's hard to narrow it down. I've seen weird portrayals of a lot of characters but I feel like the women usually have it worst? I've seen too many portrayals that like. make shtola or minfilia the "mom" or something 😭
2. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
ok. hear me out. I don't hate him akshsj but until I got to a certain point in the game I was confused why g'raha was so popular. I like him! but I do tend to roll my eyes at how a lot of the fandom is about him sometimes (obviously this doesn't include any friends or mutuals lmao just the larger fandom in general)
different fandom but this. also goes for astarion, the fact that fandom hypes him up often to the exclusion of everyone else makes me reluctant to engage with all the stuff I see for him (again, unless it's something friends have made, because I know that's fun for them and I like seeing their takes on it) like sure, I think he's neat! but I see so many astarion posts every day without even trying and not half as many of anyone else. like. balance it out, people. come on 😂
