I really like ChoKarui as it’s the gorgeous girl who clearly saw how great he was in a short amount of time and Choji not needing Shikamaru or Ino to make a connection.

“They didn’t even show it” they didn’t show a large chunk of the character’s romances and fandom is doing the serious foot work with every ship they want to so leave it be, y’know.

Choji falls into my protect them bin, so shipping is hard because I’m always wondering how this person would treat him (i saw a burrito episode that had me about to get Karui too lmao) ? But ships I think would allow him to get all the love and security he deserves, even if they aren’t high on my shipping; ChoHina, ChoIno, ShikaCho, InoShikaCho (which would be better than either or), ChoGaa, ChoSaku, and I think we’ve ran out of sweeties 💀🤣

After some deliberation, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only people actually happy with the canon ships are multishippers. The canon shippers(SS, NH) are fighting each other and everyone else about how their ship is best. The shippers shipping one of the popular ships(SNS, NS) are angry that their ship isn’t canon and the hostility from the canon shippers are fueling their never ending rants and think pieces about it. Crackshippers either weren’t participating in the ship war to begin with, are upset that if Kishimoto was gonna settle for crackships(ChouKaru) then he should’ve given us better ones, or they only became crackshippers in response to the endgame ships or the fandom.

Yup, again, Japanese like to name each day as some kind of special day. And January 31 is called “愛妻の日”, meaning “Beloved Wife Day”. So, I came up with something silly as usual. Here we go!

🔥Canon pairings (i want controversy XD)

Yooo i have a lot of opinions on canon pairings but they're probably not unpopular opinions hm

sasusaku - hate it, bad pairing, bad characterization. Sakura's character arc was about coming out from the shadow of nart and sasuke, about disgarding distractions like her long hair (symbolic of her need for sasuke's approval!!!!), and gaining confidence. Marrying sasuke after everything he did to her, after her big moment in part one was cutting off that hair, is just a regression. It's appropriate that she regrew her bangs (that symbolize her insecurity) cause damn she got fucked by that writing. Also sasuke literally never cared abt her?? weird for him to just be like "ok yea lets get married"

naruhina - also hate it, this one feels like kishi did it for the hinata stans in the room. Like yes the relationship was "set-up" in that hinata had a crush on nart for a decade, but it doesn't feel like it would come naturally. I thought naruto had much better chemistry with sakura, if kishi had to pick a straight ship for him. In part one Sakura goes from looking down on him, bullying him, to respecting him and even asking sasuke to step up and be more like naruto sometimes. She gets inspired by naruto's determination. Likewise naruto has always had a crush on her, but is also able to work together with her in a tangible way that's built on years of believable interaction. Hinata and naruto getting to combo together in the 4th war felt really forced, they had nothing to build that teamwork off of and their personalities clash pretty hard.

Choukaru - feels weird, feels random, but.... chouchou QwQ she is an angel and a fucking BAMF and if karui had to somehow fall for chouji and move to the leaf for her to be born, so be it. I love how chouji calls karui "mama" and she calls him "papa" that's adorable. Probably no controversy here xD

Shikatema - I'm not a big fan of the misogynist man marries a Strong Woman archetype :\ I wish they had given more focus to how shikamaru works through his misogyny, instead of just being like "temari is so cool and badass she cured him"

inosai - weird, strange, idgi, but good for them honestly. Still think ino would've been a good partner to sakura once they sat down and worked through their past.

How many kids do your Naruto couples have?

So ... context first.

I have a thing about the amount of siblings, or lack thereof, in media. Especially in media set in a time when child mortality was a much more pressing issue than it is now. The fact that nearly all of our main characters and even side characters are only children annoys me.

Like I get the whole 'friends who are more like siblings' thing is a big selling point, for a lot of people but anyone who has siblings will tell you it's different with a sibling. I also get from a story point of view that to give their characters all siblings, which is more typical of real life, would bloat character rosters something fierce and we all know Naruto doesn't need more characters.

But I hate how little positive representation we have of siblings in Naruto so I don't care about that lol.

I also laugh in the face of anyone who thinks the Naruto cast aren't fucking constantly and that will inevitably lead to lots of babies lol. Especially in a post-war society. The Baby Boomers are numerous for a reason lol.

So on that note here are some numbers, I shall give you names too if I have them. Some I have stolen.

NaruSaku - They definitely have at least four. In age order: Sachi, Ichika, Yuuto and Akihiko. I am considering a fifth. Watch this space. The amount of kids isn't deliberate, they're just really bad with getting caught up in the moment and forgetting contraceptives. Only Akihiko was actually planned. And the fifth child if they happen will be a decided shock. And in Canon!AUs where NaruSaku get together young? Sachi was an unexpected, before they got married, surprise. Think no older than twenty-two.

KibaHina - Six. Kiba and Hinata build up a whole generation of Inuzuka on their own. There's one set of twins but I'm not sure on genders for the kids, expect a healthy mix.

NejiTen - Two. Hideki and a daughter who is hinted at in the epilogue to the Wedding AU. Might give them a third, we'll see.

ShikaTema - Three. I've not got names, I know there's at least one boy and he follows the naming convention of his father and grandfather.

SaiIno - Two. Inojin is a name I have flat out stolen, I don't care, I like the name. They also have a daughter.

KakaAnko - At least two. The eldest daughter is called Rei.

ChouKaru - At least one. She is not called Cho-Cho lol.

SasuKarin - Runs the gamut from one to seven dependent on the world. In a world where Sasuke isn't a dick and it's a Canon!AU? Well he needs to rebuild the clan and this is how you do that. With babies. In a world where he's a shithead, well he did his next shitty thing where he knocked Karin up and fucked off. In a world where he's not a shithead but it's a modern!AU? Two or three.

And just for a little flavour lol, in my Modern!AUs it's quite common for me to make the Rain Orphans related to Minato and/or Kushina as their older siblings or cousins. In the Uni!AU for example, Jiraiya and Tsunade are the parents of four kids, Yahiko, Nagato, Konan and Minato lol. And it's relatively common for me to make the Bijuu related to their canon container. Kurama is Naruto's older sister in the Uni!AU, Shukaku is Gaara's cousin, Matatabi is Yugito's sister. You get the idea.

Do not you think the authors of the novels just wanted to bother the SS fandom? Is that in all novels you can find moments and interaction of the other couples (ST, NH, SI and ChouKaru) They revealed to us how they all become a couple, less SS. And to top it off, in a one shot of Kiba, Kishi shows all the couples together, less SS (sometimes I think Pierrot has a lot to do with this). It's very unfair that the main couple in the series is the only one that we have no idea how they came together

It’s an interesting idea but I doubt it’s the case.

The authors couldn’t have exactly given SS more than they did considering Sasuke’s absence from the village, and they weren’t about to devote an entire novel to their travels because not only would there probably not be enough action, but there’d also be a lack of notable characters.

     Actually, yes! At least…one fan lol There’s a fic, A Traitor Branded, that’s rather old, but that I still love that got me to ship SasuHina - it’s actually my OTP for Naruto, believe it or not. Based, of course, more on chemistry than actual canon interactions. It was the first ship I ever RPed with my friend Paloma, and I still really enjoy it n_n

[ 18: IS THERE A SHIP THE WRITERS HAVE RUINED FOR YOU? ]

     …I wouldn’t say ruined as much as…disappointed me with, and that would be SasuSaku. I am not AGAINST this pairing - in Ryū’s fic, I keep all the canon ships, and did my best to write them in ways that stay true to canon, but also help expand on how, I think, the pairings could have been improved upon. So I do still ship it, in a sense. But I think many of the ships in Naruto could have been vastly improved upon. I don’t dislike any of them, really. I just wish they’d been given more proper attention.

[ 9: WHAT SHIP REPRESENTS THE KIND OF RELATIONSHIP YOU’D LOVE TO HAVE? ]

     …well, if we’re going strictly with canon, ehhh…I’m not really sure? NaruHina seems rather…well, distant. Naruto seems too involved in his work, which to me strikes a personal chord that I can’t stand. And Sasuke is barely home. ShikaTema isn’t really my kind of vibe, nor is ChouKaru, nor SaiIno. And I’m nothing like Kushina for MinaKushi xD      Now if I could be biased and say ItaRyū I would but I won’t go there lol     So in all honesty, I’m not…really sure. There aren’t too many characters I identify strongly with (the closest would be Hinata, I think), so that alone makes it kind of hard. Now…before I revamped my own character, I shipped ItaHina HARDCORE (mostly due to it feeling rather parallel to a relationship I had in highschool). Not so much anymore because…well, reasons, but I think using strictly canon characters, that would be it. Two quiet, patient people just…being there for each other.     Thanks so much for the questions!
