And the Tony Award Goes to...
Tumblr media
Six-Time Tony Winner Audra McDonald, reigning Queen of Broadway
In honor of the Tony nomination announcement today, it's about time I published this post I've had waiting for almost two months now. With 64 Divas in our tournament, they're practically drowning in Tonys. Collectively, 53 Divas have received one or more nominations across four eligible acting categories, and 31 have taken home the prize. And you'll never believe what tumblr's image limit is. 30.
As luck would have it, two Divas won Tonys in the same year and despite what might be the most dramatic height difference possible, Bebe Neuwirth and Janet McTeer were photographed together specifically so I could make this post work 27 years later. (Bebe in heels and Janet in flats, and still...)

MASQUERADE COSTUMES IN THE CURRENT RESTAGED PRODUCTION IN VIENNA VS ORIGINAL LOOKS
I tried to not cherry-pick my favourites of the original costumes. Rather, I looked for the most similar fabrics or constructions, while still trying to show a full-view and a similar pose to the Viennese photos. I hope the photoset makes sense.
Whereas the Restaged Tour's Masquerade costumes has been massively improved since UK 2012, especially for the Australian and Austrian productions, I think the biggest mistake still is to try and create ballroom costumes out of what is highly allegorical or character costumes. I don't think the transition is believable and would rather have seen newly designed Victorianesque gowns - like in the Mediterranean production. It would be more coherent to the uniforms and tailcoats most men wear in the scene.
Meg Giry's equestrian-inspired costume (row 5) is maybe the best example of how it would need a much bigger redesign to function. A grand bustle skirt, perhaps? The current added layers is bulky and unflattering to both the wearer and the costume.
I also think the Phantom's Red Death (row 3) has gone from an actual threat to a charming Alexander McQueen catwalk look. I'm not sure that's what I want from Red Death. They lost the death part. Same for Carlotta (row 4) - the original costume feature spiders and cobweb and bats, while the new one is all lace and feathers. I do however appreciate that they returned to the original silhouette and colours.
I do however think Christine's and Raoul's costumes (row 1 and 2) have been restored to more or less what Maria Bjørnson designed. Those are also the ones I like the most, along with the "flunkies" (not depicted).

Broadway Divas Tournament: Semifinals
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald (1970) holds the record for most Tony acting awards a person has ever won. She is one of five actors to be nominated across all four respective acting categories and the only person to win every one (and the only actress out of the three who is still living...). Her stage work includes: Ragtime (1998), Porgy and Bess (2012), and Lady Day at Emmerson's Bar and Grill (2014). Internationally acclaimed concert tours, Tony host, crown jewel of the American Stage. Grammy winner, Tony winner, Emmy winner. Get this woman an Oscar, stat. This is a BROADWAY Diva tournament, and it doesn't get much more BROADWAY than this.
Legend, icon, certified GILF Christine Baranski (1952) has a theatre resume a mile long. A two-time Tony winner, Christine has performed on and off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally in shows such as Mame at the Kennedy Center, the pre-Broadway workshop of Sunday in the Park with George, and the infamous flop that was Nick & Nora (1991). She can be seen alongside a slew of other Broadway Divas in HBO's The Gilded Age, and has also participated in at least ten Sondheim shows and concerts over the years. This is a Broadway DIVA tournament, and it doesn't get much more DIVA than this.
NEW PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT: ALL POLLS HERE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
"Okay, so. I've seen Audra McDonald in concert three times, and each time has been a soul-ascending experience. She is *THE* Diva of Broadway in every single definition of the word. Most Tonys, tied for most nominations, critically acclaimed. I'm listening to "I Could Have Danced All Night" as I type this out, and the high note she just hit at the climax almost knocked me out of my seat. If you do not vote for Audra McDonald in this BROADWAY DIVA TOURNAMENT, what are you even doing here?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
"Did you know that Christine Baranski has a lakehouse in Connecticut, and she invites all her famous friends to go swimming "with or without" swimsuits? Cherry Jones is particularly fond of staying out on the lake all night long. If that's not icon diva behavior, what is? Christine may be a big screen star with some Emmys and whatnot, but she started on the stage, and she remembers her roots fondly. I long for the day when she comes back, if only for a special one-night-only extravaganza."

hey i would like to ask what does Christine do in the casino and what is her relationship with the other casino staff
I LOVE YOU SM TY FOR THIS ASK DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH IVE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT ASKS ON MY O-
tw: blood
Due to how she dresses, people will assume that she's just some regular guest. But no:
She's the Devil's Assassin
Also known as:
Tumblr media
The question is: is it really necessary since he's the Devil and all?
No, it really isn't. However, he figured he needed some assassins too if some mortals wanted a cherry on top for deals that required bloodshed. And so, Christine was hired and trained under three days.
Now relationship with other staff:
I imagine a lot of the staff are amused that this pretty woman was able to piss off Cuphead while befriending his brother.
Chips and Mangs started inviting her over because of the rumours. I feel they're the only ones who actually tried getting to know her.
Tumblr media
King Dice has a mentor-mentee relationship with Christine. He's one of her trainers. They don't really open up much, but they both have that mutual feeling that they shared one thing in common
Tumblr media
The rest of the staff just treat her like another co-worker. They mostly know her as "Cuphead's girlfriend", "The gal who pissed the brat", "Mugman's best friend", "The assassin", and the list goes on.

Family Feud Nominations, Who is the Best Doctor Who Family
If I've missed a character out of one of the families let me know (within reason, I imagine all these families are massive in the EU, so prioritise tv or significant characters)
Currently, the only rule is no families may inculde anyone who is even ambiguously The Doctor, it'll get super complicated super fast imo
Any characters, eg River, who can link up multiple different families to create a single massive family unit will be treated on a case by case basis. If it is possible to pick one of the smaller family units that they are a part of to include them in while not including them in any of the others (in a way everyone will agree at least makes sense) they will be included in that family only, otherwise they will not be included
Please bare in mind when you are nominating that I am hoping to keep the number of nominations under 64 to run this as a mini-tournament. This is not a hard rule so if nominations do exceed 64 its not a big deal, just something I'd like everyone to bare in mind

Hi! I've been craving some yandere content that's not manga, webtoon, manwa, etc. Do you have recommendations that are movies, tv shows, maybe some kdrama too? Just not manga, anime and the sort.
Sorry this one took a kabillion years to answer. Back in October, Cherry and I basically had a yandere movie month where we would just watch a bunch of movies that were labeled as Male Yandere movies because horror month (which is unfortunate for me because I don't really like horro movies). Anyways, besides the short list here that has some TV shows, here's some stuff we watched. Some of this will be later put in as recommendations, probably on Tuesdays.
Hush Little Baby- we're going to start out with some lifetime movies because they're low calorie and turn off brain fun to watch. About a neighbor kid who comes in to babysit the main character's kid only to cause problems to the entire family.
Swim at Your Own Risk- another lifetime movie. About a swim team girl who has a fling with the swim couch after taking a break with her boyfriend. Things go wrong as the swim couch gets obsessed with her.
You Belong to Me - another lifetime movie. About a lady who finds out that someone is stalking her and tries to figure out who it is after they try to murder her boyfriend.
Addicted/Obsessed- Addicted is the korean movie and Obsessed is the English remake. About twins, one of which is married to the female lead, where they both have an accident. The husband dies, however, the other seems to have been possessed by the husband.
LadyHawke - older movie, but the yandere is the main villain. About a main character who escapes prison and finds a couple who is cursed to turn into a wolf and hawk respectively during the day and night, fated to never be together.
Well Intentioned Love- Chinese drama, though the yandere portion only really shows up in the first season. About a girl who has lukemia and has to have a contract marriage with the only person who can give her a doner bone marrow match. Driver is best character.
Disco Pigs- Pretty surreal movie in some cases. About two childhood friends, Pig and Runt who love each other as Pig becomes more and more obsessed with her as the movie goes on.
Labyrinth - I probably won't write a recommendation for this one because the yandere portion really only shows up in the song, but it's still a fun movie with David Bowie. I even read the comic for it just to check but the yandere portion seems to only show up in the song.
The Boy - I actually watched this with another friend that was obsessed with wallmen, but its a pretty fun movie overall. I think most people know this one though. About a lady who moves in and babysits a doll while trying to escape her abusive ex.
Within - also another movie I watched with my wallmen obsessed friend. About a family that moves into a house that turns out to be haunted in one way or another.
What If…Dr. Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands? - Sorcerer Supreme in general in general seems like a yandere since his entire goal is to just bring back Christine at all costs. He also just generally shows up in other episodes of the What If? Series.
Heathers - I heard the movie version isn't nearly as yandere, but the musical version is for sure.
Phantom of the Opera- I'm kind of cheating with this one because it's like one of the OG male yandere stuff, but hey, if you haven't heard or watched it yet, well you know.
That's about it for now since usually Cherry and I don't watch a ton of movies. Might change after a while, but we'll see. Maybe in February we'll try to have a tv drama month to watch stuff.
