in the wrong answers only au, i can imagine Hakuba just having a corkboard of all the Conan theories with all the evidence piled up. Maybe even a list of what is more likely, Faey child. Shinichi clone, Time travel from either past of future, demon fooling everyone, angle fooling everyone, weird little ghost child trying to solve his murder. Some of the 'facts' contradict others and each one just sends more questions.

Webby Week Day 5: Headcanons/AU!

This isn't really a writing piece, more of a... idk what to call it but it certainly is a Thing

Some headcanons

• Autistic and ADHD (see: her Whole Entire Vibe)

• Read ALL of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories when she was like seven or eight

• She doesn't have a set favourite colour, she loves all of them! But if she HAD to pick, it would be light pink (see: 🎀)

• Big Lesbian Energy (realises the "special best friend feeling" she gets around Lena is NOT because Lena's magical, it's cause Webby is GAY AF) (Lena also has a huge crush on Webby though so yeyyyy)

• Wrote and illustrated a book called "The Life And Times of Scrooge McDuck!" (Yes this is so L&T can exist in DuckTales, if your name is Don Rosa I'm so sorry)

• Wore a suit (shirt, waistcoat, bowtie, cute pleated skirt) to her autism diagnosis

• Still plays the cello but also wants to learn the bagpipes (and Scrooge teaches her)

So her role in this AU is WILDLY different to her role in the show.

As I think I mentioned, Beakley left McDuck Manor when she saw how slightly unhinged (even moreso than usual) Scrooge was becoming, and took baby Webby with her cause she didn't want her being raised there.

She spends the next eleven years training her (no change there)

The change is that she's being trained to overthrow Scrooge and his near-tyrannical reign.

And YES that does mean that the moment she finds out she's his clone daughter is going to HURT her so much and I'm dreading writing it it's gonna be one of the last things I write probably

A Friend In Need: Kaitou KID centric, really love how organic this fic is, both from KID's and Shinichi's POV.

You Have an Hour: Sonoko's POV and an extremely funny and relatable fic.

You're okay, you're safe: oh, my beloved Sakura Trio, also from Sonoko's POV which I adore, and Sonoko's feelings in this... I feel her.

Switched: KID centric, FREAKING BODY SWAP, and so well written too, very fun read.

Guide you home: I love the Guide/Sentinel universe so much, this has romantic KaiAo, Heizuha, ShinRan, and lots of other platonic combinations, this is also a case fic and emotional.

The Cloning Secret: do you want to read something absolutely heart-wrenching, disturbing, yet absolutely brilliant? Go no further. We warned: this is a work in progress.

Misconceptions, Illusions, and Lies (and Other Forms of Fair Play): I absolutely adore this fic, the idea of Ran and KID working together, also bonus points for different POVs, also a work in progress.

Shenanigans in Beika: one of my ultimate favourite fic series, off all time, the interactions in this are just way too charming and precious and dear. Also a work in progress.

until the flowers bloom again: same author (yes, one of my favourite authors, sue me) as Shenanigans in Beika, involves the Detective Boys and ShinRan, and my heart just... gosh, this fic is so precious.

Hidden Epidemic: I love the first part the most, but this as a whole has a lot of headcanons incorporated into it that I love to bits. Lots of POV changes, and so many characters (Detective Boys, Heiji, Kazuha, KID, Ran and so on)

pet: super short, but also SUPER CUTE, absolutely in love with the idea of Ai having a cat. (one of my favourite authors for the fandom)

(the space between) where you smile and hide: one of the very few and precious Kazuha POV fics, especially her thinking about Shinichi. (also one of my favourite authors, and if you like one Hattori Heiji, I highly rec holly's other fics too)

Observations: my ultimate favourite fic involving Takagi Wataru, part of it is from his POV too, and it has so many great things about it. (VERMOUTH!!! Also Heiji and Satou working together! And most importantly: Takagi finally getting an answer to his Question.)

All Night Gang: I ADORE THIS FIC SO SO SO MUCH, THE FACT THAT KAZUHA AND RAN GET TO FINALLY KNOW. Also the adorable chatting in the first part. All the different POVs later on. And all the FEELINGS AND HEADCANONS AND THE THING THIS FIXES ABOUT CANON FOR ME. I'M so grateful for the existence of this fic.

Nothing To Lose: Detective Boys, PRECIOUS CHILDREN, they just miss their friend, this fic made me so emotional, dammit. SHINICHI YOU FCKIN IDIOT-

Family of the heart: God. This fic. THIS FIC. I LOVE PARENTAL MOURI KOGOROU WITH A PASSION.

never were and not anymore: this series? Damn. The shapeshifter concept in it is MARVELOUS AND MASTERFUL. The way it got merged into the universe, and how it changed events. Also THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS KILL ME in the best way.

Scion: I absolutely adore this author, and this is one of my ultimate favourite fics involving Shinichi and KID. The supernatural element is so exquisitely fitting into the universe, and how Shinichi's feelings are so complex, and the teamwork... just. Everything about this fic pulls at my heartstrings.

As for personal headcanons for Shinichi/Conan, here is a few:

Shinichi/Conan is neurodivergent as fck. I personally like to think he is on the autism spectrum, but I'm very flexible on the exact nature. One thing for sure: he is not neurotypical. At. All.

HE'S A CERTIFIED PENCIL BITER YOUR HONOUR!!! (IT'S NOT EVEN A HEADCANON AT THIS POINT- *GETS HIT*)

No one can tell me, No One, that after all these traumatic experiences this child doesn't experience panic attacks or PTSD.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE STOPPED PLAYING SOCCER, HE LOVES SOCCER!! (The kids are totally the reason he got more involved in soccer again, YOU HEAR ME-)

I remember asking you about the Saga of Toast the last time this particular WIP game came around, and so much has happened between then and now ! I've read the fics (and LOVED them) and even watched JAtP (which was such a sweet, fun ride), so I'm wondering if this getting to be a pattern of being introduced to a new fandom XD (no complaints there, lol). That said, both The Lost City and Nature 2.0 sound super intriguing ! I'd love to hear more about both/either, totally up to you :) (I think we've discussed Nature 2.0 in passing before, and while I know its based on Metal Gear -- which itself has such an interesting premise from what little I've gleaned -- it sounds like a genuinely epic fic in the making, whenever that happens 🤞🏼🤞🏼)

Okay, the fic whales that require a better author (and one with more brain space and leisure time) than I am at the moment but that are still so dear to me that I might come back to them at some point.

I came up with The Lost City first, while I was still at university and attending a lot of lectures on 19th century British literature and culture. I was also, at that time, in a Stargate Atlantis fan forum at the time and those two things just seemed made for each other so I envisioned a fic that would be written in the style of a 19th century novel and resemble Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World in that you have this bunch of adventurers and scientists that claim to have found the lost city of Atlantis but lost all their photographic evidence etc on their way back and now one of the members of the expedition, the Scottish doctor (Edinburgh having been one of the best places for a medical education at the time just fit so nicely with the Scottish doctor on the show), tells the story as reconstructed from his diary.

The fic would attempt to be very accurately 19th century-ish so you would have the white (British) male Christians explorers bringing civilisation to the savages of the new world. There would be the noble savage princess. The charming and intrepid soldier. The eccentric scientific genius. There would also be an eccentric rich heiress funding the operation whose unconventional independence would be punished by the narrative while still admiring her bravery. There's also sort of vampires which fits nicely with the vampire/gothic craze at the time, the obsession with (creepy) hands (the Stargate aliens suck other being's life essence through touching them). The Egyptian craze tying in with finding the Stargate. There's just SO MUCH that would fit SO WELL!

It would also have footnotes as a sort of mock Oxford University Presse edition, contextualising the racism and colonialism and misogyny etc ;D

So it's a very ambitious project.

Not learning my lesson with this one, I came up with another ambitious project, Nature 2.0, that is indeed a Metal Gear Solid au.

The original game series already deals with clones (Solid Snake, aka David, being one and experiencing accelerated ageing as a result). There's world conspiracies and viruses and triple agents and shadowy figures and the sins of the fathers being borne by the sons. And there's a soldier (Snake) and a genius nerd (Hal Emmerich aka Otacon) falling in love.

On some ill fated day I thought: why not take it even further?

So it's a dystopian future where genetic engineering and cloning etc are commonplace and the poor, normal born people are second class citizens. There's pockets of resistance and pockets of self-sustained enclaves and terrorism but most of the "Naturals" are just poor schmucks in the ghettos of the big cities trying to get by.

One of them is Hal Emmerich, genius son of a Two-Oh genius (Two-Ohs being the genetically enhanced Humans 2.0) but natural born and as such a lowlife who gets fired by too many companies and has an unhealthy feelie addiction (think movies - talkies - feelies) who suddenly gets recruited for a secret mission by a handsome clone.

They embark on a mission that's ostensibly about some nuclear threat but they soon uncover there's something more sinister afoot. There's trying to figure out the plan and the players, infiltrating places, stealing information, escaping shadowy pursuers, finding allies in unlikely places, exposing a global conspiracy and saving the world at a cost. There's near-death and there's falling in love and there's philosophising about what it means to be human.

But again, it's A LOT and lots of research and even MORE plotting and writing action plots and stealth missions which I'm rubbish at at the moment so like The Lost City, it's on ice until that mystery time when I'm healthier and can focus better and have more time. Maybe never. But never say never, right?

Random thought before going to bed:

I was reading a one-shot on Detective Conan and the discussion made by the officers made me think. They were discussing about Conan's origin (in this they weren't as oblivious as in canon, mind you), dismissing the alien theory only because he had needed a blood transfusion after being shot, and dissing the absentee parents that no-one had ever seen...

Here comes the thought:

What if Conan was Shinichi's clone?

This could be either a theory made by people who don't know the truth or an actual AU, because there is no legitimate record of the boy, he's a carbon copy of Shinichi and it's more likely that a human was cloned than "shrunk", right? Plus it would be legit his "connection" with Shinichi and all the knowledge Conan has, if he learned it from his "original".

Tomorrow I may ramble further about this, but now I'm sleepy, so type ya later!

but it’s still got a mostly happy vibe, even if the lyrics are a little sad—but i think i once saw some fanart of what if anakin, obi-wan, and ahsoka were all padawans at the same time, which made me :’) so i feel like in this au, it would just all be about disaster lineage.....but not really because they’re all padawans that wind up getting in just the same amount of trouble and there’s just always......chaos. obi-wan still pretends to be the responsible one before being like “okay fine we’ll do it we’ll do it”, and anakin is still an impulsive genius, and ahsoka is still the snippy and only slightly less impulsive kiddo. they’re mostly innocent for a short while—until the clone wars actually start.

Human “Glitch” / Failed Cloning AU Prompt

Fandoms: Detective Conan | Case Closed, Magic Kaito

Pairings: Kudō Shinichi | Edogawa Conan x Kuroba Kaito | Kaitō Kid (kind of... keep reading. You’ll see what I mean.) // could be Gen with no pairings tho

Warnings: Major Character Death. Angst. Abuse of pseudo-science.

This is going to be a doozy.

So... I apparently came up with this idea July 26, 2017 at 6:40 pm according to my Notes app. I have a vivid memory of this. Lol. Not that any of that is important, but I just wanted you all to know how long this idea has been taunting me. I just wanna delete it.

Anywho, I was going to write a little preview of this au for my story dump on ao3, but alas!! I’m too lazy and uncreative to do that. Okay. I digress. You’re probably only here for the prompt thing so let’s go!!!

This story starts out normally. Kudō Shinichi is a famous high school detective and the arrogant mother fluffer we know and love. Ran is his beloved childhood sweetheart and all that shebang.

The change is that the B.O. is working on a method to clone people in addition to the APTX 4869. Why? I have no idea. But... basically, when the cloning process is complete, the B.O. can “rewire” the brain and by doing so, they can essentially turn the clone into a different person.

(It’s how they get some of their best agents. They kill and clone some of the most brilliant minds in certain fields and “rewire” their brains to make them loyal to the B.O.)

So. You’re probably wondering: wtf. Lemme continue...

The Tropical Land date happens. The poisoning happens. The difference? Gin and Vodka stay around long enough and Shinichi dies. Like, actually dies. No shrink. He’s not that lucky.

And because of his reputation, Gin decides that it would be a waste to let such a brilliant mind go to waste. They take the body along with them with the intent of cloning Shinichi so that they may turn his clone into an agent.

So, like, the whole cloning thing? The clone grows in stages—basically like 1 week or 1 month = 1 year. Does that make sense? I hope.

But, so, Sherry stumbles upon Shinichi’s body and the clone some time after Shinichi had been fed the APTX. Right now, the clone is at the physical age of 6—so people think that Shinichi has been missing for 6 weeks/6 months.

Do you see where this is going?

Realizing what’s going on, she somehow (don’t ask) speeds up the cloning process. In doing so, she is able to give the clone all of Shinichi’s memories and knowledge and stuff. Sherry does this in some twisted attempt to “right a wrong” because she doesn’t believe he deserved to die for one reason or another.

But!!!

The clone’s physical body... it’s unstable. She realizes this, but she doesn’t know to what extent. Sherry dumps the clone somewhere and buries Shinichi’s body to keep another clone from being made.

What she doesn’t know is, shortly after she dumped the clone, the clone reverts back to the physical age of six as that had been the last stage it had been stable in.

And when the clone awakens... it (I’ll start saying he now) thinks he’s the real Kudō Shinichi.

The B.O. finds out about Sherry’s betrayal. She lies and says that she buried/burned/whatever the clone and the body. With that, she’s locked up and she takes the APTX.

And she shrinks. Sherry gets lucky. And she hates it.

Now shrunken, she goes to the Kudō residence to see if the clone made it. When Agasa finds her, she asks about the clone without mention of how he’s a clone and reveals that she had been part of the organization that had “taken” him.

When Agasa tells her that “Shinichi” had shrunk, she realizes that the clone had been too unstable with her interference—whether she tells Agasa the truth... I have no idea.

But the clone... as Conan, he is unaware of his status as a clone, but he is aware that there is something not quite right with him. I imagine he’s more paranoid and cautious. After all, there’s a huge blank between Shinichi’s last memories and his own memories of waking up. For all he knows, he was captured by the B.O. or something.

And even tho he is a clone of Shinichi, he doesn’t have the same exact feelings as him—he’s kind of his own person because of Sherry’s interference.

...

And that’s it!! That was a whole doozy, wasn’t it?

I remember planning for Conan to find out. And it’s just an angsty mess because he has all of Shinichi’s memories and knowledge—has his face and all that, too—but he knows he isn’t Shinichi. Like, it’s a whole different type of... dysphoria?? Like, his body was that of a teenager. And now it’s a child. Except... that body wasn’t his body. Except it is. But it isn’t.

Do you see his struggle here???

But after learning that he’s a clone, he asks Haibara to find a way to stabilize his body so that he can properly avenge Shinichi.

(It’s the least he can do.)

The APTX antidotes... well, I imagine that it’s different for him and Haibara? Like, he shrank because of his instability, which Haibara is looking to fix somehow. Tho... I imagine there is some APTX copied into his system or something? So APTX antidotes have some effect on him—like a trigger or something. Idk. I think this is, like, the sole reason why I haven’t written anything for this.

And, Ran??? Conan knows that Shinichi loved Ran, but he’s only known her as a sister. The feelings he has for her are Shinichi’s feelings and he refuses to act on those because it doesn’t feel right. Like, he may have Shinichi’s memories and all that, but Conan isn’t her Shinichi.

The KaiShin thing? It’s... more so self-indulgence on my part. Lol. You could basically just disregard that and have no romantic pairings at all. Shrugs. But!!!

Conan just... he likes how he feels more carefree at heists? He enjoys the banter and the thrill and the feeling. He doesn’t have to pretend as much and Kid makes him feel like he’s his own person?? And he loves it?? Like Kid doesn’t expect him to be anything but Tantei-kun. Like, Conan is a clone. Shinichi is the one he was cloned from. But Tantei-kun? He’s just a critic who keeps Kid on his toes. Like, Kid doesn’t expect him to be an ordinary child but he also doesn’t expect him to live up to a now-dead brilliant detective.

Does that even make sense? I have no idea. It’s late and I’m running on five hours of sleep.

But like... hoo boy. Just thinking about all this... Shinichi’s parents learning that Conan is a clone of their dead son. Ran possibly never knowing that her Shinichi is dead. Conan dealing with the fact that every part of him is Shinichi and hating it because he doesn’t feel like Shinichi and he feels that it’s wrong to even pretend. Maybe even Hattori learning that his true rival died.

Anyway. That’s all. Thanks. I’ve been wanting to post this somewhere but it didn’t feel right putting this in my story dump on ao3. Let’s not discuss any weird plot holes or anything because I don’t think I was completely sane when I wrote this two years ago.

Well, since i think it’d be a waste to just mention one muse, I’ll just mention the ones catching my most interest (and the ones I know best of course).

Okay, I had a thread with Conan before but something that’d really interest me would be either one where Terra comes in contact with this APTX poison (I can’t even remember the name lol) and turns to Conan’s age but due to her powers, the effects aren’t permanent. Or maybe a thread (AU) where Conan is Shinichi and didn’t get turned small but only solves his first crime and is currently trying to find out what the Black men were up to (since they escaped).

They actually have similar fates and I kinda ship them. ^^” (Like both having an unresolved love and their life going downhill at an amusement park. I actually made a post about them. lol)

I also like the idea of Hiro and Terra since they are both in a superhero group and both are somewhat experienced with technology. Maybe Hiro could tell Terra about Bot fights and help each other beating bad guys.

Terra and Hiccup would also be interesting to explore and he might tell her about dragons and Terra would definitely want to see one and wants him to teach her how to train one and maybe even think of using one to beat villains instead of using her powers. ^^’

And I think Terra and Albedo would just annoy one another (and Terra being suspicious of him being a villain or even a clone of Ben) XD

Can there be an Au where canon Connor+harem meet mostly human Connor+harem? Of course canon Connor doesn't have the harem but you get what I mean.

The only way I can write this without feeling like I’ve miswritten the Canon Cast is to turn this into a short, crackish tale.-The Harem freeze upon stepping out of the device, looking around to find themselves in the middle of Jericho.

Connor had gone in ahead of them, and they exit to see him looking unafraid as he stares down the barrel of a gun, held by…Himself?

“You can go back to where you came from, right?” They hear Markus say. They turn their heads to look at him questioningly, but they find that they’re seeing double.

And then some of them catch sight of their own clones.

“There can only be one.” Connor is saying. No, not their Connor. Other Connor.

He’s maybe a bit less emotive and a bit more lethal, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still attracted to him, too.

(“It’s almost kinda weird,” Collin says, later, “even though Conan and I look like him, we’ve never really given that fact much thought. Seeing Connor with himself, actually himself, not the more masculine humans he’s based on, makes me… kinda wanna see them make out. Like, it would be really hot.”Conan nods at his twin’s words.“Whether I join in is up to debate, an internal debate, though. Like, do I watch and enjoy, or do I take part?”“There’s no question. Set up a camera and record them and then immediately join in.” Conan says, and Collin looks at his brother like he’s a genius.“Wait, do you see what this means, Conan?”“Hm?”“We could EACH have our own Connor. We wouldn’t have to share!”“Holy fuck.”)

“We were just curious about parallel worlds, that’s all. We’ll leave if it causes you any issues.”

Other Connor nods. “I’d recommend doing so as soon as possible. If you stay here too long, we’ll have some space/time problems alongside the aftermath of a revolution.”

“A revolution?”

“I don’t think I should give you too much information about this world. Please leave, now.”

Their Connor’s LED flashes yellow as he returns them to Kamski’s Lab.

“What the Fuck.” Is the general consensus of thought.

Ce sont des gens aisés qui vivent dans ce genre d’endroit, cachés derrière des palissades aveugles, avec leurs Hummer rutilants et leurs très rares marmots impolis. Ce sont de jolies maisons, à dire vrai, elles coûtent cher et disposent de tout le confort nécessaire. Certaines ont même des piscines. Pourtant, vous n’habiteriez ici pour rien au monde.

Personne n’est revenu vivre ici, après les événements. Les super-héros qui occupaient le quartier, bien protégés dans ces enclos qui n’en avaient pas l’air, ont préféré recréer leur vieux village, partir à l’autre bout du monde pour d’autres aventures… Ou bien fuir sans laisser de traces. Et vous les comprendriez presque ! Il flotte sur ce quartier un parfum de rien, un immense vide de sens et de vie qui aurait sûrement dû les alerter plus tôt. Les intérieurs sont désespérément blancs, synchronisés à l’extrême, estampillés partout de la marque d’une Agence corrompue ; nourriture, boisson, mobilier, jusqu’au poisson rouge qui tourne en rond dans son bocal, copie miniaturisée de la vie en vase clos qui a été celle des super-héros, pendant près d’un an.

À voir cet environnement aseptisé, vous seriez tenté.e de vous interroger : comment n’ont-ils rien vu venir ? Comment ont-ils pu exister si longtemps dans cette prison sans en remarquer les barreaux ? Mais c’est plus facile à dire a posteriori, avec du recul, quand on sait déjà tout ce dont les supers du passé n’avaient pas conscience. À force de faire les cent pas dans ces maisons toutes blanches, affublés des éternels mêmes survêtements gris, vous finissez par être contaminé.e par les murs… Alors, dans ces conditions, remplacer vos amis par des clones, ça passe forcément inaperçu.

Dans la maison vide que se partageaient John et Klaus, rien n’a bougé. John n’a pas remis les pieds ici, il n’a même pas récupéré ses affaires. Quand on ne fait que fuir de place en place, on ne possède rien d’important, de toute façon. Ce qui importait le plus, c’était sa famille ; Mary. C’était ses amis ; Klaus, Doug, et tous les autres. Il n’y avait rien, dans cette maison blanche, qui puisse le faire revenir. Et vous, y trouverez-vous des indices ? Klaus n’a sûrement pas osé repasser par là, il a dû se douter que l’Agence gardait toujours un œil sur le quartier, même après le départ de tous ses occupants. Par acquis de conscience, vous faites tout de même le tour des pièces.

Dans la cave, vous trouvez un tabouret, là où Kelly de l’Agence a sans doute été attachée par Klaus et Duco ; vous avez entendu l’histoire. Dans la chambre des héros, comme prévu, leurs maigres possessions sont encore là, éparpillées partout comme ces matins de départ en mission où vous êtes sûr.e de rentrer le soir. Dans la chambre de Klaus, des posters de Conan le Barbare et d’autres héros de fiction tout en muscles placardés sur tous les murs, comme un adolescent le ferait. Mais ce qui attire votre attention, c’est surtout cet objet, inhabituel pour le lieu, appuyé contre le mur… Cet objet, Klaus a emménagé avec, lorsque l’Agence les a forcés à se rabibocher, John et lui. Drôle d’objet, mais ça collait parfaitement avec le personnage. Mais, quel est-il ?

My current thoughts on Ace Attorney’s Future

So by now you are most likely aware of the recent Ace Attorney news Capcom put out, and also some stuff that’s been leaked, ill give a brief rundown before going into my thoughts in case you missed it(excuse the poor grammar , I didn’t have that much time to spell check lol)

-Capcom has announced that Ace Attorney games will be moving to the switch and that they will be releasing one between April 2018-April 2019

-Leaks from Kotaku UK: First half of next year will have two Switch releases of compilations, one for AA123, other AA456. And a third brand new game feat. Phoenix Wright will release before April  2019 worldwide launch for Switch and smartphones

(ALSO take this with a grain of salt like all leaks, im just more trusting with this once since I don’t Kotaku would try and fake AA news since it is a niche series and there isn’t that much to gain from it, and the person leaking has been correct with that huge Mario Rabbids leak)

Now this news came outta nowhere but here are my brief (not really lol )thoughts on them

-Ace Attorney Games no more on 3ds

This was always in the cards, given franchises like Pokemon, moving away from it and the Switch’s mobility. It was very good of them to announce that they still plan on releasing new games for Ace Attorney and that the series isn’t over in my opinion . 

I personally thought that if AA7 came out on the 3ds it would be the last one in the franchise, like no more AA afterwards(I expand on this below). 

But this Switch news made me reconsider that theory, as now I believe Capcom is going to keep on pumping them out because the profits they make on it must be pretty decent in their eyes., like the cost of making them must not be as expensive as we would believe.  So expect some “brand new” plotlines that will be expanded upon in AA8 etc

-Compilations

Very smart move given the next news on AA7. AA6 led to a big issue, in that, you probably wouldn’t enjoy the game as much if you never played the first 5. If they just released AA7 on the Switch straight away, they would be assuming every switch owner has played the other 6 AA games, so this would at least bring everyone up to speed. 

Given some stuff I go into further below, I would be thinking, Capcom would be looking into the sales of these very closely in regards to DGS and AAi2…

-what about AJ on 3ds

Apollo Justice is still coming to the 3ds at the end of the month, and now im thinking, what is the point? The above leak is actually incredibly damaging to sales for this as most people can just wait for the compilation on the Switch to then play it. 

There are ofc people who don’t have a switch (like me) and some who want to play AJ on the 3ds but I feel like this leak has made a few people reconsider their purchase of AJ (which is gunna do so much damage to Capcom’s sales forecast for that game…. :/ ). 

Like you know how quiet the AA twitter is usually, they might have announced the compilations early next year after people already bought it (and maybe that might have angered a few more people to rebuy it again lol)

-Featuring Phoenix Wright

Now ill try and keep this spoiler free but the “feat. Feenie” leaves a big question, where is Apollo? Does that mean all 5 cases are playing as Phoenix? Dlc cases with Apollo? Or are they going to release an Apollo game later (because in an interview for SoJ, they were toying with the idea of SoJ being two separate full games like Pokemon Red and Blue, where one only with Phoenix, and the other only with Apollo). So maybe a game featuring just Apollo in 2019? 

Now im not sure what the reaction to that is on this site, but I know a lot of people on Twitter have been rolling their eyes that the whole game is once again only Phoenix, when they feel his story is done. Me personally, I don’t really mind, as I view AA456 Phoenix as a different character to AA123, so im happy there’s at least an AA7 game coming, regardless of who you play as. 

Earlier I mentioned how I thought AA7 would be the final AA game ever if it was on the 3ds, and with that I was thinking it would be the biggest fanservice game ever (like Gumshoe, Kay, Franziska coming back, and other past characters returning in the biggest best(est) sendoff ever, like maybe even a dlc case where you play as Edgeworth with Kay helping and gumshoe, Franziska all there, and like the crime scenes being old places but with new twists, and just finalising every plotpoint ever (Iris and Kay where are you??). 

But since it ISNT the final game, I think it will be kind of like Dual Destinies, instead of answering questions, they will pose new ones, and introduce even more new characters to the already bloated cast which im not too happy about. Prepare for a new colourful Maya clone that has a new gameplay ability to turn the tide in court! (I still love Athena mmmmmk?),  Also, wanna bet that one dialogue we want between Phoenix, Trucy and Apollo about a certain relationship wont be revealed til postgame AGAIN? :P

-Worldwide launch

This is probably the ABSOLUTE BEST NEWS to come out of all of this. No longer will we need to wait through the months, wondering if we bought enough copies to make them consider localizing. Now we can play them game at the same time as Japan! Although with this series, I never had a big issue with spoilers unlike Danganronpa, like people weren’t going out of their way to spoil SoJ like they did with V3. But its stil great news that we know that AA7 will be coming west!

-Digital

-The switch has a big digital only library, -games are not tied to your console anymore, -they are tied to your account, so if you Switch dies, -you wont lose the games purchase. SO yes I do think all 3 of the Switch games will be digital only, this is clearly the route Capcom wants for us westerners and I don’t think anything short of a miracle in sales will change that :(

-Smartphones

Now this is an issue for me personally. Hearing AA7 being on the switch made me so happy, as it opens up the endless possibilities to the gameplay. 

SoJ had so many improvements to character model movements and what they did with the 3ds hardware. So thinking a Switch only AA7 game would be amazing in terms of what they could do with the models, UI, gameplay etc.

 Deep down I always wished Capcom would try and be like Spike Chunsoft and add extra gameplay to their visual novel hybrids, like danganronpa. As in, its honestly absurd at how much extra content is in v3 considering they are both just murder mystery VNs, and they is clearly no reason for them to add so much extra content. Like AA has never even had post game content at all, so maybe on the switch they can try some things like danganronpa, like an AU mode, or some silly board game thing, just stuff that doesn’t harm the main story, but is nice for diehard fans to keep opening up the game. 

HOWEVER since its apparently on mobile I don’t think any of that will happen. Yes Im happy people who like mobile gaming can play it, and yes not everyone can afford consoles, and yes phones are like mini computers these days in terms of power. But from Capcom’s point of view, if they want to sell it to as many people as possible, they need to consider a lot of people will still have old phones, so trying anything amazing in gameplay features might not work on an old phone, leading to loss of sales in the mobile side. And we all know how much Capcom likes money. So personally im disappointed but not that much, this is just a deep feeling ive always wanted from AA, just more in game content and extra things to do. And seeing how SoJ improved SO MUCH on the DD models, I just wanted them to go even beyond that. But hey maybe now at least they can do 3d models for investigating and pretend its an investigation game , RIP Kay’s return :’)

-localizedgs and aai2

And ofc the usual, LOCALIZE DGS AND AAI2. Considering all the news, and given how poorly Marvel vs Capcom Infinite sold(it’s actually shocking at how bad it sold, maybe because no Phoenix in it? :P ), and how long it took for RE7 to reach its sales goal(1.5years), I don’t think DGS will ever be localized, at least not for a few more years. The cost of licensing to Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Estate is clearly too much for Capcom to release an even more niche game than AA(the average person will see it doesn’t have Feenie and wont buy it). 

HOWEVER given their love of compilations and ports recently, there is STILL a chance they will port a DGS1&2 game to the switch, maybe around 2020. This being after they see the sales to the first 2 compilations. So don’t buy Battlefront 2 and support bad lootbox behaviour, save that money to buy AA on the switch ;) And regarding AAi2, look im probably the biggest fan who wants a new AAI3 more than AA7 (I even made a video about it lol), but considering AA7 will be made by the AAi team, that aint happening. Now all hope would be lost, if not for the simple fact that, in 2017, just recently, AAi had an encore stage play performance in Japan . Meaning even though this play ran last year, they had enough demand to do it again this year. So Capcom clearly has some plans with Miles and crew, and hopefully if the compilations sell well, they will make a Switch port of AAi and AAi2, and hopefully Kay will live once more! :P

-Takumi

And finally to the man himself, Shu Takumi(creator of AA if you didn’t know). After spending time making DGS 1 and 2,  and with how poor their sales were, I don’t think there will be a DGS3. And I don’t think he will come back for AA7 (if it was the final game like my earlier theory, I was hoping he would come back for some fanservice lol, like he would bring his charm back and work it on the new characters which might have been fun). This is disappointing as his writing with the characters is on another level compared to the new games . 

E.g play SoJ and the professor Layton crossover game, back to back, and notice how different the dialogue is with Phoenix and Maya. Takumi (who wrote the Layton game) clearly understands his characters so well, and you can feel Maya and Phoenix’s personality just flow seamlessly with each other, like the professor game honestly felt like a case from the trilogy even though I played it waaaay later.  He has stated he is done with the main line AA games(iirc), and how he would hate making more cases than needed (like him not wanting to make the fifth case in AA1 when Capcom first localized it, since the GBA game had only 4 cases and Capcom wanted him to make one more case to sell again). So I don’t think he will make AA7 or DGS3, which means HOPEFULLY he is free to make what he wants, and we can get another amazing separate game like Ghost Trick ANYWAY that’s been my rambleeeeeeeeeeee

TL;DR Ace Attorney isn’t dead, Capcom loves the franchise but not as much as you want, please buy the compilation ports, even if you have the games, money speaks to this company that runs our favourite game franchise :/

And final silly point: I don’t have a Nintendo Switch, Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon2, FE Warriors didn’t convince me to buy a Switch. I will now be buying a Switch for AA7, THIS SERIES WILL BE THE END OF MEEEEEEEEEEE
