of fever dreams and jamais vu
And, of course, like all fever dreams, he had to wake himself up from it. (But this one? This one was real.)

All the world and his wife was scrutinizing Ken Sato the moment he stepped out of the airport and took his first deep breath in his homeland after twenty years. Of course, he welcomed and basked in the attention even if it suffocated him—quite literally, he must add, what with how the reporters and photographers were almost wrestling each other to get a scoop on him. What came after that only gave him a headache after a headache. He had to settle in his new residence, a mansion he bought just 15 minutes away from where his father lived, one that felt way too big for just one person and his supercomputer assistant. He finalized his contract with the Yomiuri Giants, followed by a meeting with all the staff members and a less-than-formal outing with his new teammates to some club in Shibuya he didn’t bother to remember the name of, where he was just constantly reminded that he was alone. The day after that, he had to deal with a hangover, a press conference, and an interview that ticked him off—Ami Wakita, was it?—before ending the night with a bar fight that left his shoulder aching.
Ken was sure he wouldn’t even have considered moving back to Japan nor would he have let his father somehow slip back into his life if it wasn’t for his mother.
With his injury, your father needs you, kiddo.
And so, Ken Sato began his baseball career in Japan with the Yomiuri Giants. He brought the team to their first victory of the season despite a lot of things: how the media was still on his ass about why he would leave his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers behind, how Coach Shimura seemed to have a chip on his shoulder when it came to him, how the pain in his own shoulder would stab and dull with every movement he made. The way his shoulder ached left him wondering if he should have treated it more seriously rather than seeing it as an inconvenience, perhaps put his pride aside to admit that yes, that drunken brawl was fucking stupid, and my shoulder fucking hurts. That was why he didn’t think much of it when Coach Shimura was talking about bringing in some new guy—something about a new performance analyst or whatever—as a matter of fact, he couldn’t care less.
So, imagine his surprise when he showed up to practice and saw a face he hadn’t seen since graduating college in the States. A face that made his breath hitch because one, she was just that beautiful, and two, he had no idea why she would be here. A face that was so familiar he almost threw up from shock, anger, guilt, longing. A face that contorted into contempt at the mere sight of him.
Ken Sato was sure of one thing at that moment.
He was completely, utterly, thoroughly fucked.

Ken Sato wasn’t always the famed world-class baseball star he turned out to be, and she wasn’t always the blunt and tight-lipped new analyst for the Yomiuri Giants she turned out to be.
He was a doe-eyed, lanky Japanese kid who had above average grades in his classes and showed promising results as a slugger for the baseball team. He spent most of his freshman year being stereotyped and made fun of for how he looked and talked, and it only changed because he had his growth spurt in sophomore year. Not only did he become a cleanup hitter by the end of the year, girls were suddenly giving him bedroom eyes in the hallway and guys tried to make up for their borderline bullying by letting him into their cliques. His friendships with them were shallow, really, because they would still poke fun at this old accent even after he had nearly perfected his American accent. Ken took it in stride only because he knew everyone would never make fun of him in baseball, not when he had practically put his school on the map by winning tens of titles and playing in the Senior League. And so, by the end of high school, Ken had baseball to thank for almost everything in his teenagehood.
She, on the other hand, came to high school smart and pretty. Where Ken stood out like a sore thumb, she stood out like a broken finger. Someone being academically gifted and socially relevant was practically unheard of at that time. She was among the top 10 students in freshman year, earned her spot as the leadoff hitter for the softball team in sophomore year, won a national debate championship in junior year, and passed 4 AP classes with flying colors in senior year. She, too, had put the school on the map, perhaps even more contributively than Ken did, so the teachers only kept their grievances for when she skipped class to smoke. Even so, everyone seemed to like her regardless of their cliques; she was always greeted in the hallways, was almost always invited to every party, and had gone out with all the popular students. She could have had it all, and whatever her secrets were, Ken and the other students in their school only knew her as the high school sweetheart, the kind you would see printed next to the definition of high school sweetheart itself.
Ken had seen her in passing during freshman year, but he never really talked to her until they shared three classes together in sophomore year. He remembered that she had approached him first during PE, suddenly speaking to him in fluent Japanese that he nearly had a whiplash. She told him that yes, I know you’re also Japanese and sorry I didn’t talk to you sooner, then babbled something about how she felt guilty that she had just been watching while others made fun of him. He didn’t think much of it at first, still surprised that one of the popular girls—if not the popular girl—in his year was actually talking to him. But then, he found himself understanding every word she said whenever she talked in Japanese and replying to whatever she was saying in English; he found himself exchanging notes and numbers with her in math class; he found himself going to the baseball field with her during lunch breaks and seeing who could hit the farthest. He was somehow roped into bringing her home after he offhandedly mentioned her to his mother, and then, they somehow became best friends. He would cover for her whenever she skipped class to smoke, much to his dismay, and she would introduce him to other social circles outside his baseball team, where he found his first girlfriend—who, admittedly, broke up with him because the way he spoke about his “best friend” was laced with more adoration than the first kiss he had with her. He would wait until their practice sessions were over and drive her home, where they would spend at least three hours talking on her porch before he went home, and she would show up to his games with an obnoxious handmade banner that read “KEN SATO THE G.O.A.T,” cheering the loudest whenever he hit a home run. He would pick her up from anywhere almost every time she asked, even if he had to get himself out of bed at two in the morning, and she would hang out at his place every other weekend, bringing fruit baskets and takeouts for his mother. It was somewhat domestic, how she settled in his apartment (and his life) whenever she came over. Ken almost always had to ground himself because his brain would feed him thoughts of a future with her, and his heart would beat so hard it threatened to break out of his ribcage.
But they were just best friends, he thought and said to his friends whenever they asked him about her. Best friends who happened to suck off, eat out, and eat each other’s faces pretty regularly. He found it funny at first, really; one time, their classmates told her that she just wasn’t human, what with how she juggled school and being popular. She only laughed it off, but he thought of how right they were when she came over while he was home alone at the end of sophomore year. There was no way the girl kneeling between his legs was fucking human. Not with that tongue of hers. Not with the way she looked up and batted her eyelashes at him. Not with how she literally gulped down his load in one go and played Tekken on his console as if she hadn’t just given him the best head of his life. She quite literally sucked the soul out of him that day, and he never had another head like that ever since. Even as they started hooking up—strictly platonic, she said, and he just went along with whatever she wanted as long as it was with her—that was still the stuff of his wet dreams, and it remained that way even long after they never saw each other again.
“Do you think we’ll be friends forever?”
The question caught Ken off-guard not only because it broke the comfortable silence between them, but also the feelings it evoked. Where is she going with this? he thought. A frown was etched on his face as he turned to look at her. Under the soft glow of the star projector in her room, she laid on her back, eyes tracing the constellations that danced across the ceiling. Her breathing was far more steady than his, chest rising and falling slowly behind the thin fabric of his shirt. Her hair fanned out around her on the pillow, framing her face as if it was her halo. At that time, her expression was probably the most serene and somber he had ever seen. She’s beautiful, he said to himself, and he thought it wouldn’t be so bad to keep a picture of this moment in his head for his selfish reminiscing should they ever stop being friends. (He hardly thought she meant that they could be more than friends, and he didn’t want to entertain the thought of not having her in his life.)
“Yeah?” He answered and mentally cursed himself for sounding so unsure. After clearing his throat, he corrected himself: “I mean, yeah, why not?”
There was no way she hadn’t seen the way he was staring at her from the corner of her eye. Even if she did, she didn’t turn her head to face him and only hummed in response to his answer. A look of contemplation appeared on her face as she kept quiet for nearly another minute. Ken swore it felt like an eternity.
“What if–” She sighed. “What if we fuck up and hurt each other? What then?”
Ken somehow knew that she already knew that there was no way she could ever fuck him up. (She already did, anyway, literally and figuratively.) Not with how he looked at her, not with how he reached out to hold her hand, not with how he promptly turned his head to face the ceiling once she was turning to look at him. Perhaps, what she was looking for was the reassurance that he wouldn’t fuck her up. He squeezed her hand when the thought crossed his mind.
“I’ll still be your friend anyways,” he said, softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
A chuckle left her lips then. She didn’t let go of his hand as she moved to hover over him, replacing the twinkling manmade constellations in his sight. (He thought she was brighter than any star in the sky, anyway.) He raised his brow when he saw the mischievous glint in her eyes as she leaned down, her lips nearly closing in on his.
The grin she had on her face was enough to tell him she was up to no good. “Are you a masochist?”
“You–seriously?”
He might’ve groaned from annoyance, but the way her body shook with laughter on top of him was enough to make that godawful warmth bloom in his chest. He pulled her in for a kiss, though he wasn’t sure if it was to shut her up or if he just wanted to, and he thought that if anyone were to see them like this, no one would ever believe him if he told them that they were just best friends. Hell, everyone had enough of his answer whenever they asked him about it at school, and he was even picked on again at some point—but not for how he looked or talked. No, he was picked on for being her “best friend” because no matter how many people had tried to make her theirs, she kept coming back to him. But then they would find Ken making out with one of the cheerleaders under the bleachers and her sucking off some guy from the football team at some senior’s house party. It was confusing for everyone, but even more so for Ken, because every time she asked him to pick her up from God-knows-where, he would see red when she saw her huffing out a smoke, disheveled because of someone who was not him.
And, of course, like all fever dreams, he had to wake himself up from it.

“–Sato.”
Two things snapped Ken out of his trance then. First, it was the voice that called out to him, then it was the pain in his shoulder. Ken found himself standing on the batter box in Tokyo Dome, a bat in his hand, and his breath was ragged. The seats were empty, the sky was turning dark, and then he remembered that he was at practice. He was at practice, not on the porch at her old house in Los Angeles holding her close as she cried over that one guy who supposedly broke her heart. He was at practice, not at the frat party where he met her again for the first time after months of no contact and saw her giggling on the lap of some jock. He was at practice, not in front of the diner they used to go to almost every other day where he said awful things he didn’t mean and maybe, just maybe, that was the reason why she had left for Japan the next day. (She had waited for him to come to the airport, to at least apologize, but he never came. He had turned off his phone during practice.)
Ken sighed and lowered his bat, hissing when he rolled his left shoulder. He steadied his breathing and regained his composure before his eyes flickered to the field. His teammates were waiting for him to hit another ball so they could continue their fielding practice. Then, he turned to the one in front of him—Yoshida, right?—whose voice pulled him out of his train of thought. Yoshida raised his brow when he locked eyes with Ken.
“Are you distracted or something?”
It was his turn to frown. “What?”
“Are you distracted by the new girl or something? You kept looking back at the dugout earlier.”
Ken almost dropped his bat when he heard that, his neck turning so quickly that he was surprised he didn’t give himself a whiplash. “What?”
Yoshida nodded in the direction of the dugout, and Ken turned to look. His grip around the bat tightened as his eyes darted towards the dugout. Her back was facing the field, leaning against the metal fence that divided the field and the dugout. Her arms held a clipboard to her chest, and he could only see her side profile from where he was standing as she spoke with Coach Shimura. The two of them looked familiar already—he really didn’t know how she did it, given that he was still at odds with the coach, but it was so her, he thought, the way she could get along with all the people he couldn’t—as Coach Shimura was talking more expressively with her than he had ever seen him. She was nodding to whatever Coach Shimura was talking about with a smile on her face, one that didn’t reach her eyes, and he berated himself because why and how the fuck could you tell from this distance? Ken’s lips parted as Coach Shimura’s expression changed and nodded in his direction, and his breath hitched as he saw her turning slightly towards him.
Ken’s heart dropped as the smile on her face faltered, replaced by an unimpressed look and an air of disdain that made him shiver. The world seemed to stop right then and there; even when she looked at him as if he was the reason behind her suffering—which was probably true, to an extent—he couldn’t help but think of how beautiful she was. Even with the hint of blood between her slightly cracked lips and the dark circles under her eyes that she didn’t bother to hide with some concealer. Even with how she looked even paler than she was when they were still in Los Angeles and how her cheekbones seemed to protrude and her cheeks seemed more hollow. She was beautiful, yet she contrasted her old self, which bothered him so much that dread started to pool in his stomach. Ken knew her and would even say he knew too much of her. But, right at that moment, it was as if he was looking straight into a stranger’s eyes and not the pair he had fallen in love with, as if he was looking at the stuff of his nightmares and not the girl of his dreams, as if he had never known her at all.
(What if it was true?)
Ken pinched his arm, hard, and winced when the pain seared through his body and kickstarted another throbbing ache in his shoulder. None of the stuff of his fever dreams, the dread and peculiarity of it, should have been real. This was real. So, if this was real, then God must not only be fucking joking, but He must’ve been thoroughly fucking evil to be putting him through this.
“Oh, fuck.”

You Belong With Me 💙🏈📖
It's here! My first ever fan fiction story is live! Part 1 is below and I really hope you enjoy it. Im also still learning stuff so bear with me as I figure it out :) Wally Clark x fem reader Y/N
Warnings: swearing
Part 1 Summary:
You and Wally have been best friends since birth thanks to your moms also being best friends. You and Wally are experiencing senor year together talking about your future at collage and talking about the big upcoming homecoming game. After keeping a secret from him since Junior year, you decide to tell him after the game.

Part 1:
You and Wally have been best friends since birth. His mom and my mom are best friends, and we are even born 5 days apart. Wally had always been there for you even though he was sometimes annoying, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Fast forward a couple of years and we are in our senior year of High school and absolutely dreading collage. Not that you weren’t a good student or anything you were always top of the class. You knew what you wanted to do and that was to become the next best-selling Author. You had a passion for literature and been dreaming of becoming the next Angela Carter. You just dread change always have and always will.
Wally on the other hand already had a scholarship for football his mom is so proud, but you could tell deep down that he was holding something back. Something he hasn’t even admitted to himself.
You were sitting on the bleachers reading your book and watching Wally and the football team practice for the big homecoming game on Saturday.
“Y/N did you see what I just did? That was gnarly!” Wally yelled as he came running over to you, all sweaty and gorgeous. Unbeknownst to Wally you have had feelings for him since Junior year of school, but you were too scared to tell him.
“No Wally, sorry I was reading, but I’m sure it was good” you said as butterflies exploded in your stomach. You have no idea how you’ve kept yourself together around him for so long.
Wally sat in front of you in the bleachers to have a drink from your water bottle because you always carry one knowing he always forgets his. “Good? Y/N that was the best play the coach as seen! You have to take a break from reading and watch me, please?” He gave you that look, the same look that he’s always used to get you to do whatever he wants.
“Ok fine. I can’t stay much longer it’s getting late; you know how my parents get when I’m late for dinner” you say putting your book in your bag.
“CLARK! Get your butt back on the field” The football coach yelled at Wally landing all eyes on you. “I’ll see you later, ok” Wally said as he got back onto the field.
You sit back and begin reading again until you are distracted once again. “He’s never going to love you Y/N. The quarterback and a nerd that’s tragic. He will eventually drop you and want to hang out with me instead” Amy snares as her and her bitchy friends laugh clearly trying to hurt your feelings.
“You know what Amy; I don’t need him to love me like that I know he does.” You reply back confidently. “Besides Wally doesn’t like girls with a big ego like yours.” As you get up to walk away you can hear Amy and her friends gasp at you and you can’t help but to let out a little giggle.
As you leave the bleachers you can see Wally at a distance and hold up your hand into a phone near your ear singling you will call him later. You see him nod and walk to your car.

As soon as you get home you are interrupted by your little sister, Mary. “Did you finally tell Wally you are in love with him already? You guys will be like the ultimate power couple of all of Split River High!”
You sigh “Mary geez can you talk quieter? I don’t want Mom and Dad to hear” You sling your bag on the bottom step of the staircase.
“Oh sweetheart, we already know how you feel for him.” Your mom chimed in from the kitchen. “Is the only one who doesn’t know is Wally himself” She added. Lovely just lovely, somehow everyone knows about my crush.
“Wait. How do you know? Did you say something Mary?” You said annoyed at your sister.
“Sweetie, it’s so obvious how you feel. Its cute. Two best friends since birth developing feelings and falling in love. Now that’s a romance story I would read!” Mom said giggling with Mary.
“Ok cool I’m going to wash up and we won’t talk about this more” you slurred leaving the kitchen to head up to your room.

You thought as you entered your room. Maybe it was time to admit your feelings to Wally. He could feel the same was as you did. Or worse he doesn’t, and you ruin your only friendship you’ve ever had.
The thing about yourself you liked to keep to yourself. Got all your schoolwork done and wouldn’t dare be seen at a party unless it was one that Wally too. You and him are the complete opposite in the social scene but you somehow worked not because you were desisted to be friends by our parents by because you and him got on so well.
Screw it, I’m telling him after the homecoming game. You thought to yourself as you walked back downstairs for dinner.

Can a “😍😙😁” gal and a “💀👿🩸” gal really be besties? Sure seems like it so far.
Based on a scene from Ward 3.3
Recently finished Ward Arc 3! Thoughts below:
Been a while since my first post on Ward, a couple of thoughts:
Arc 2
I like the slower pace so far (we’ll see how long that lasts i suppose). Nice to get little moments like Victoria going to interviews and visiting the kids at the hospital.
Zion really gave one last middle finger to humanity and said “You know what? Automated random horrific death triggers.” Jokes aside, the broken trigger scene was haunting, might draw something based on it in the future.
The therapy group superhero team premise is interesting. Nice to have a band of characters who have mental or emotional weaknesses but have each other’s backs! Now let’s see who they’re up agaisnt- oh, Tattletale? Oh no.
Not too many thoughts on the arc’s interlude, a lot of nice worldbuilding which is always welcome.
Arc 3
Capture the Flag was a fun premise for a friendly fight, and it delivered pretty well in showing off everyone’s powers, strengths and weaknesses. Also nice to see Victoria filling a more mentor/coach role and getting to flex the experience she’s gained with her power in a more positive light. Have some drawing ideas once I figure out how exactly I want to depict stuff like her aura.
Liking the new team so far, though still need to wrap my head around some of the finer details of the powers. Definitely gives me Jojo vibes in how the powers are more complex in the sequel/s.
I realized quickly that Kenzie’s powerset is a lot like my character from my friend’s Worm campaign (which I might write more about later on). Also a surveillance/drone Tinker, though with more focus on multiple drones and material efficiency than Kenzie’s big boxes of large scale holograms and photo-distortion.
Seems the group all have their own little secrets and/or problems they need to work through. Please Vic don’t let any of them near Tattletale they would practically be a freebie for her to take down.
Ok, no Birdcage as I learned from last post. But is there, like, a dead Earth with a one way portal to toss Carol into? Is Sleeper still occupying Earth Zayin? Maybe we should send Carol there on a free vacation I hear it’s a lovely time in… whatever the effect of his power is.
Evil Robot Grocery… ok how do you even fight that. I guess it’s an S-class Threat for a reason but like what option is there other than quarantining and bombarding the entire area they’ve spread to? Do EMPs work? Put Ghost Bakuda to good use and make that Arc 6 Bomb to knock them all out?
Silly rodent themed hero. Close enough, welcome back Mouse Protector Ratcatcher. Also gonna toss her on the list of “characters I should draw some time.”
Amy Dallon finally speaks, and looks like she’s making friends! Friends that are all (at least former) supervillains! That are encouraging her down a darker path! I can only see good things happening here. A little surprised we get her this early from an Interlude rather than from a main chapter, though I suppose it does make sense to flesh her out more now rather than waiting until Victoria directly sees her again in whatever state she’s in by that point (probably a bad one).
That’s all the Ward thoughts I could think of at the moment. Will be reading more, next update hopefully won’t take 2 months again (but probably will)

hiii kak ami. aku liat dari postingan kakak kayanya skg badannya jd jauh lebih lean dibanding sebelumnya, which is jd bagus bgt😍 mau nanya, ada pengaruh karena kak ami ngegym gak yaa? dan boleh tau gak gymnya pakai PT atau sendiri aja? kalo sendiri, nentuin menu workoutnya gimana? tencuuu kk amy sebelumnya.
Helo 👋 terima kasih, yaa.
Sedari 2020 baru serius angkat besi, sebelumnya mah yoga pilates aja.
Karena udah biasa pake coach selama 4 tahunan, jadi berani daftar gym tanpa PT, soalnya udah ada basic prior knowledge soal gerakan-gerakan, do(s) and dont(s)nya.
Mulai aja dulu, kalo baru banget kenalan sama dumbel barbell, saranku pake coach.
Satu hal, ternyata strength training played a huge part to your body, jadi jangan takut angkat besi, ges. Pilates yoga penting, cardio juga penting, tapi kombinasi itu semua dengan strength training will do best!

Dark Worm's Manifesto
Let me get one thing straight: this is not a drill. You cannot escape this. What is about to happen is the real deal, and you won't ever be able to forget it.
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life.
I know you all hate me. You laugh and mock me when you think I don't notice, but I do. I hear those whispered insults, those cackles and jeers. You all think Dark Worm beneath you---but let me tell you. You hate what you cannot understand. You hate what you know you could never be.
None of you---and I mean NONE of you---will ever amount to ANYTHING close to what Dark Worm is.
I intend, first and foremost, to make all of your lives living HELLS. Each and every one of you sordid losers deserves what's coming to you. The first of you contemptable idiots I shall publicly eviscerate is none other than Brayden.
That's right. You know what you did. Since day one, you have scorned me with evil looks and pithy words. You think you're the belle of the ball, don't you? You think you have it all. But you don't. At the end of the day, you have nothing but your own shriveled soul, your Aeropostale t-shirt, and a handful of equally pathetic friends who won't even so much as remember your name the moment they move out of this hellhole. You don't hate me, Brayden. You hate yourself.
And Hunter. You leech. You feed off Brayden's supposed fame and confidence, but what you're REALLY feeding off of is wastewater, and thus you become toxic yourself.
And Kelly? You debase yourself every single day by hanging out with Tanya and Lexie, but you know you're better than them. Inside you, there is a smart, independent young woman who's not afraid to go against the grain---you just have to have the strength to find her.
Claire. Effing Claire. Yeah, that's right. Don't think I don't know what you did. You're the definition of a fairweather friend. You're here when it's all sunshine and rainbows, but the moment the clouds come rolling in, you try to poison me. Was this all some joke to you? Was this all a game to entertain yourself? I tried to build a place for you beside me in my new world. I tried to make it in our image. But you refused an offering on a silver platter and instead shoved it in my face.
I could go on. I could tell each and every one of you sheeple the cold hard truth---like Jessica's godawful excuse for a whisper, or Derek's dead-on-arrival dream of becoming head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, or Amy's horrible home-done eyebrows that she swears she got threaded professionally (but we all know that's a lie---I mean, come on), or Jacob's ridiculous habit of getting a terrible nosebleed every Tuesday (it's honestly disgusting), or Stephanie's insistence on getting sympathy for her broken finger which isn't even that big of a deal (and you can't even SIGN a cast that small), or Marco's self-assured confidence which is absolutely not earned since he's never scored above a C on a single test but he still feels the need to answer every question in class even though I know the answer AND I raised my hand first but the teachers call on him anyways because he purposely makes sure he gets seated closer to their desks because he really thinks he's so smart and wants to show off his non-existent "intellect"---but I will spare the rest of you.
Except one.
Maximus P.
There is nothing left to say that hasn't already been said. But know that you had it all, and you threw it all away. This is what you get, Maximus. Take a long, hard look inside yourself. And this? This, right here? The thing you see standing in front of you, paper in hand?
You made this. You made me.
Wake up, Sheeple. Taste the dirt.

I just.. Wanna post my hcs if the sonic characters were human and what they're races would be.. Let me know if any of you agree :3 (+ au yaps abt them idk)
Sonic - White + Mexican.. Idk probably comes from a white trash family that he ran away from and just hates how he was raised so much to the point he HAS to do good things for others to not feel like a bad person, he was probably raised in a super small house with like 4 other siblings (he's the 2nd oldest) he ended up meeting Tails on the street when he finally ran away (his parents don't care or probably didn't even notice) and Tails was homeless so he ended up js taking him with him and they live in a small apartment together, sonic does odd jobs as well as a full time job to support him and Tails
Tails - White but specifically Irish. Idk why... He just.. Gives off that feeling 😭, Tails was homeless for only month or two before Sonic found him idk why he was homeless but that js makes the most sense with how they would end up meeting in this au, Tails is still just a kid Probably like 12-13 sooo living with his 17 BASICALLY brother atp Is like THE COOLEST THING EVER for him. Sonic does everything he can do support tails in his experiments but.. With how little their income is it's a bit hard
Knuckles - Jamaican. No explanation needed tbh. In this au knuckles is 19 he works in construction BUT also participates in Boxing matches as well as ring fights for some extra cash, he's been training to become a professional fighter or just something in that field, he'd even be happy just being the coach of a A-class fighter. He met Sonic on the streets and they got into a argument about something.. Idk what but it escalated to the point Knuckles just decided it'd be easier to fight it out and so they did.. Bets were placed and of course Knuckles won I mean yeah Sonic is fast as hell on his feet but Knuckles is basically a walking wall. No matter how fast Sonic is he couldn't make him move a inch. Sonic was a good match though and took his defeat and explained he was sorry for whatever they started fighting about and started to explain his situation, Knuckles felt bad and gave Sonic the bet money and his number "kid If you ever need anything call me, I'll try my best to help ya" and a few months later they ended up moving in together.. (Rent prices went WAYYY up and neither could Afford to live by themselves)
Rouge - Latina, need I say more? She works at a club as a bartender she's about 22 in this au to everyone she's like a big sister (except Knuckles. We love knuxouge here.) though in her free time she volunteers at a after school club for kids around Tails age and that's how she met those 3! Knuckles and Sonic would take turns picking Tails up and she thought Knuckles was cute so they got to talking eventually she found out about the 3s situation and if its for Knuckles she's willing to do whatever (as long as she doesn't get her hands dirty)
Amy - she always kinda gave me a mixed feeling?? Js black and white, she is a childhood friend of Sonics coming from a better off family than his but their parents were friends so eventually they js became friends too! She's 16 and tries her best to be there for Sonic but because of school and Sonic constantly working it's a bit hard for her to make plans.. She does occasionally go over and help them all clean just to make it a bit easier on them
Shadow - OKAY. I know I might get hate for this but.. I've always seen Shadow as Wasian. I'M SORRY I'M SORRYYY IT JUST MAKES SO MUCH SENSE IN MY EYES. SPECIFICALLY HE'S FILIPINO AND GERMAN. (Or alternatively Filipino and black. Something in me just has the urge to make him Filipino.) And let me tell you THIS BOY CAN SINGGGG. but enough of that. Shadows family is.. WEIRD. Maria is his Half sister as he was born 1 year after her to their fathers new Wife (Maria is fully German) AND YES MARIAS ALIVE IN THIS AU. so Shadow is 17 and Maria is 18. Shadow and Sonic went to the same school, they were kind of friends but also not?? Everyone kept putting them against each other as academic rivals when really Sonic just thought Shadows style was cool and wanted to be friends.. BAD. But after Sonic ran away they never exchanged phone numbers (mainly because Sonic didn't have a phone) and just lost contact.. He started worrying so he asked around and found out Sonic had dropped out which was.. Weird. Sonic had good grades and was well liked so why would he suddenly drop out for almost no reason? He tried his best to focus on other things but the thought of something bad happening to Sonic just never left Shadows mind. Maria had became friends with Rouge in her freshman year of high school when Rouge was a senior and they've kept in contact this entire time so Rouge is a close family friend of Shadow, through Rouge talking about her cute new guy she's been talking to she mentioned Sonic and Shadow practically JUMPED from his seat asking her "is he okay?? It's been months since he dropped out of school what the hell even happened I've been trying to find him for so long" (of course he didn't say exactly that.. He still has to keep his aura.) (he said exactly that he's a little baby around Maria and Rouge) so blah blah blah Shadow FINALLY found Sonic YIPPEE!! chaos can occur!
So yes that's my little au and headcanons!! Please remember this is just for fun and if you don't agree just be nice about it :3
Also can you tell Knuckles and Shadow are my favorites?
#shadow the hedgehog#sonic the hedgehog#sonic fandom#sonic au#knuckles the echidna#rouge the bat#miles tails prower#tails the fox#please understand my vision of wasian shadow I'm wasian so it's basically canon because shadows me

i dunno if this is something you talkabout but which acting class would you recommend for a newbie?
An acting question? 🥰 I adore.
Ok, so time to be bluntly honest, to answer your question effectively I need to know what your goals are for this year. So I can recommend people that match that path.
For example, if you plan on booking your first co-star, that may be overreaching if you have no training experience or credits.
So I am going to assume that, since you wrote newbie, you have zero training. I am going to help hack into finding your target professionals that are in alignment with your goals.
You need to start by knowing yourself, what makes you unique and what the first impression is when you walk into a room. You can begin by doing this on your own to the best of your ability and then allowing others to share their perceptions with you. This could be acting coaches, brand coaches and even regular people who can give you a nonbiased opinion. (I can make a separate post about how to find your type and brand, if you need me too as I will only cover it lightly here)
Once you establish that, have a look at online streamers, movies etc and find characters that match your essence and core look. So let's say you are the girl next door type and you open up netflix and find all these shows where an actress of your same type (same look and similar essence) is featured. Now you know which projects you could potentially get called in for and what the genres are.
I recommend you pull up the iMDb pages of those shows and see who is attached to them, more precisely, the actress of your type, who is she repped by, who cast her, what is her resume, find information on her training online, if available. Now you have an idea about the professionals who cast or rep your type. Let's hone in on the right coach for you.
Based on the genres and types of roles you are ideal for consider what skills you need. Let's say your girl next door type of roles usually come with a comedic vein because that is a strong quality you have. This means improv and comedy classes would help you hone your natural talent. As for acting, research on who the people who match your type have trained with and you can also make your search more particular by finding coaches that have prepared actors for your target shows. For example, if you are the kind of girl next door that is tv series material, you could consider training with Amy Lyndon. She coaches people for television in a very effective way.
Once you've honed in on which coach matches your trajectory (by researching what their training focuses on, what their students booked, how effective their methods are for you, etc), go audit their class to confirm that they are indeed ideal for you. Most coaches allow you to audit for free and may even offer a complimentary session.
Next you train, train, train and while you are at it, I would recommend focusing on landing as many credit based roles as you can - there are acting schools and universities that make short movies and movies you could apply to star in, there are plays of lower levels, you could autoproduce short clips of your performing with the help of your friends. Anything that helps you get credits and showcase your talent. Word of caution: If you are self producing, ensure you get coached by your acting coach on the scene and get feedback on it prior to posting it online!
Note that what you train for will switch as your career evolves but your acting training needs to be constant even when you start booking co star roles, for example. Each tier you reach will require a new you. Self tape classes are a must nowadays so I highly recommend doing an acting class and a self tape one as well. Most auditions have switched to digital and a self tape is a completely different dynamic than an in person audition, you have to learn how to film production quality self tapes. Depending on your desired path you may end up taking commercial classes, improv, scene study, etc.
Again, not knowing any details about you, I cannot hone in on specific matches at the moment but, what I can do, is recommend great coaches you could consider. In no particular order:
Amy Lyndon (absolutely great if you want to book more television)
Ivana Chubbuck (the actor whisperer lol)
Kimberly Jentzen
Scott Sedita (for comedy especially)
Lesly Kahn (another great one for comedy)
Howard Fine
James Ciccone (this guy has a lot of receipts as a steady working actor)
Christine Horn (she mixes in spirituality and that makes her an even more effective coach)
I could go on but my point is that you want to look for the people that can propell your career to your desired level. Jim Carry studied with Ivana Chubbuck and learned to channel his traumas into comedy, she was at a certain of his life the right choice for him to develop his talent. No one road fits everyone, which is why you have to get very specific about what you desire to reach and who the people who can get you there are and, to do this, you have to simultaneously be very realistic about who you are and what you can do (range).
Sorry for this very long post but I got excited. Hopefully, it was written clearly, if not feel free to dm me or send in another ask.

What to stream this week: 'Young Sheldon,' Amy Schumer, 'Oppenheimer' and lots and lots of JLo
Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer” arriving on Peacock and a documentary and album from Jennifer Lopez are some of the new television, movies, music and games headed to a device near you.
Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: “Young Sheldon” returning for its seventh and final season, Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. exploring the power of gospel in a two-part PBS documentary and Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones pirate-themed video game.
— If you were holding out for “Oppenheimer” on streaming, now’s your chance to catch up before the Oscars (March 10), where it’s up for 13 awards including best picture, best director for Christopher Nolan and best actor for Cillian Murphy. The film arrives on Peacock on Friday, Feb. 16. Nolan and Emma Thomas, his producer and wife, are passionate advocates of the big screen experience, but they also know that most people will watch their films in the home — sometimes even as their first time. It’s how both discovered some of their favorites as well, they’ve said. In an interview with The Associated Press, Thomas added, “The nice thing about Chris’ films is because they are so very rich and reward multiple viewings, I think that they’re perfectly pitched for home viewings.”
— Jennifer Lopez has a new movie coming to Prime Video on Feb. 16. She co-wrote “This is Me…Now: A Love Story,” a movie musical about finding love which she called “the most personal thing I’ve ever done.” It is a star-studded endeavor, with appearances from her husband, Ben Affleck, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Post Malone and more, and ties in with her first studio album in a decade (see below). Also coming to Prime Video is Emma Seligman’s “gay high school fight club” comedy “Bottoms,” starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri as a few misfits who start a fight club to flirt with the hot cheerleaders (Kaia Gerber and Havana Rose Liu). In his review, AP Film Writer Jake Coyle wrote that, “The rites and rituals of the raunchy high-school comedy can be as prescribed as a class syllabus. But what makes Emma Seligman’s “Bottoms” such an anarchic thrill is how much it couldn’t care less.”
— And finally, Taika Waititi’s “Next Goal Wins” arrives on Hulu on Thursday. It’s based on the real story of the American Samoa men’s soccer team quest to qualify for the FIFA World Cup after an historic loss (31-nill) against Australia. Michael Fassbender plays the coach who tries to help. In his AP review, Mark Kennedy wrote that “’Next Goal Wins’ is most winning in the way it handles the team’s star player, Jaiyah Saelua, who became the first nonbinary player to compete in a men’s FIFA qualifier. Played with real tenderness and joy by nonbinary actor Kaimana, the way the team and coach relate to Saelua is genuine and touching."
— AP Film Writer Lindsey Bahr
— Get ready for a second dose of J.Lo. On Friday, Feb. 16, she drops the Amazon original film “This is Me… Now: A Love Story” (see above) as well as her “This Is Me… Now” album. The 13-track set’s song titles include “To Be Yours,” “Mad in Love,” “Greatest Love Story Never Told” and “Dear Ben Pt. II,” a seeming sequel to a track on her 2002 album “This Is Me … Then.” The video for one new pop single, “Can’t Get Enough,” has as much JLo strutting as all of Paris Fashion Week. Lopez’s last album, “A.K.A.,” came out in 2014 and reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200.
— Blackberry Smoke — a Georgia-based band that has been together for 24 years and seven studio albums — makes a strong return with “Be Right Here,” blending blues, Southern rock and Americana. The album contains the arena country “Hammer and the Nail,” the rocking “Little Bit Crazy” and the driving, bluesy “Dig a Hole.” The band goes more acoustic with the wistful “Azalea,” about a loved one making a wrong decision, with the lyrics “Coming back don’t mean you're leaving here was wrong/Sorry ain’t the same as moving on.”
— AP Entertainment Writer Mark Kennedy
— In a new docuseries for PBS, Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. examines how sermon and song have long been a source of strength and wisdom in America, particularly among Black Americans. “Gospel,” a four-part series told over two nights has interviews with Dionne Warwick, U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock and more. “Gospel” airs Monday Tuesday on PBS.
— Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche play Christian Dior and Coco Chanel in a new historical drama “The New Look” for Apple TV+. The 10-episode series is set against the backdrop of Paris reemerging from Nazi occupation in WWII. Dior’s designs helped to lift an oppressed France and its culture with a stylish, modern glow up. As Dior rose to prominence, a rivalry developed between other established designers, including Chanel. “The New Look” also stars Maisie Williams, John Malkovich, Emily Mortimer and Glenn Close. The first three episodes of “The New Look” drop Wednesday on the streamer.
— Before Sheldon Cooper met Leonard, Penny or Amy he was a child prodigy growing up in east Texas. Iain Armitage plays the coming-of-age version of the character in the CBS comedy “Young Sheldon.” Emmy winner Jim Parsons who played Sheldon on “Big Bang” for 12 seasons, narrates. “Young Sheldon” returns for its seventh and final season on Thursday.
— Amy Schumer’s Hulu dramedy “Life & Beth” charmed viewers when it debuted in 2022 and the series returns for a second season on Friday, Feb. 16. Schumer writes, directs and stars as Beth opposite Michael Cera, who plays John, a farmer. The two fell in love in season one despite their differences and personal baggage. Now, the couple is planning to marry. Schumer has said the story is semi-autobiographical, inspired by her real-life marriage to chef Chris Fischer. All 10 episodes of season two will be available on the premiere date.
— Alicia Rancilio
— Batten down the hatches: Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones is finally ready to launch after more than a decade of development and delays. You are the captain of a pirate vessel in the Indian Ocean in the 18th century. You have a decent ship to start with, but if you want to make it really deadly you need to start collecting booty. That means pillaging merchant ships, battling rival scalawags, dodging the authorities and even surviving the occasional sea monster on your way to becoming the Pirate Kingpin. You can team up with friends or fight against them in epic naval warfare — something Ubisoft has shown a flair for in some of its Assassin’s Creed games. Set sail Friday, Feb. 16, on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S or PC.
— Focus Entertainment’s Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden travels to the New World in the 17th century. The protagonists are a couple of paranormal investigators, Red and Antea, who are trying to clear the tormented wraiths out of a haunted settlement. They can help the lost souls ascend or banish them to eternal misery, and those choices have consequences down the line. It all gets more complicated when Antea gets killed — but fortunately she can use her supernatural powers to help Red finish the job. Banishers comes from the French studio Don’t Nod, best known for story-heavy cult favorites like Vampyr and Life Is Strange. You can take possession Tuesday on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S or PC.

An Origin Story pt. 7
Gabby Jay led the group of new and prospective fighters into the WVBA Boxing Academy Gym, the last stop on their tour. The gym was a sprawling, state-of-the-art facility, buzzing with activity. Fighters and trainees were everywhere, some practicing their craft in hopes of getting signed one day, others preparing for their next bouts.
"Mes amis, this is where the magic happens," Gabby Jay announced, his voice tinged with a thick French accent. "Here, you'll find everything you need to become the next WVBA champion."
Mika and Skye, who had become fast friends during the orientation, looked around in awe. "This place is incredible," Mika whispered to Skye.
"I know, right? It's like a boxer's dream come true," Skye replied, her eyes wide with excitement.
Gabby Jay led them through the different sections of the gym, showcasing the strength training area, the cardio machines, the boxing bags, and the eight rings designated for classes and sparring. "I look forward to seeing you all at 6 am in the cafeteria for breakfast. Make yourselves at home, and welcome to the WVBA," Gabby concluded, dismissing the group.
Mika's eyes caught sight of Niki Binary in one of the rings, shadowboxing under the watchful eye of her coach, Von Kaiser. "Come on, Skye, let's go say hi," Mika said, grabbing Skye's arm and leading her toward the ring.
Von Kaiser was intently focused on Niki, his thick German accent filling the air. "Gut, Niki, focus on your footwork. Remember, a strong foundation is key. Wenig Stahl, show me what you've got."
Niki moved gracefully around the ring, her feet gliding over the canvas as she threw a series of jabs and hooks into the air. Her concentration was palpable.
"Hey, Niki!" Mika called up to her.
Niki looked over and nodded, finishing her drill with a swift one-two combo. "Alright, let's take a quick break," Von Kaiser announced.
Niki jogged over to the ropes and sat down, her eyes meeting Mika's. "Hey, Mika! How's orientation going?"
"Great! Oh, this is Skye. We're roommates at the Campus Lodge," Mika introduced.
Niki extended her glove to fist-bump Skye. "Nice to meet you, Skye."
"Wow, you're Niki Binary, right? I saw your fight with Cutie a couple of days ago. You were amazing," Skye exclaimed.
"Thanks, it was a tough fight. So, how's orientation treating you both?" Niki asked.
Mika and Skye launched into a detailed account of their day, from the physicals to the tour of the campus. "The facilities are amazing, and the people seem really nice," Mika said.
"Yeah, and the gym is like something out of a movie. I can't wait to start training," Skye added.
Just then, Glass Joe approached, dressed in his workout gear. "Pardon, mesdemoiselles, but may I have a moment with Niki?"
"Of course, what's up, Joe?" Niki responded.
"My sparring partner couldn't make it today. Would you be able to help me out?" Glass Joe asked.
"I'd love to, but I'm training with Von Kaiser for the rest of the afternoon and sparring with Cutie later," Niki explained.
"We can spar with you!" Mika and Skye blurted out in unison, then looked at each other and laughed.
Niki chuckled. "Joe, meet Mika and Skye. They're here for orientation."
"Ah, bonjour, mesdemoiselles," Glass Joe greeted, his French accent lending charm to his words.
"Hi, Glass Joe! We're really excited to be here," Skye said.
"Yeah, we can't wait to start training," Mika added.
Glass Joe looked thoughtful. "Normally, we don't allow sparring with new boxers during orientation."
Both girls' faces fell, disappointment clouding their eyes.
"But," Glass Joe continued, "I'll go ask Hoy if we can make an exception."
Mika and Skye's faces lit up again. "That would be awesome," Mika said.
"Yeah, really awesome," Skye echoed.
Glass Joe nodded and headed off to find Hoy, leaving Mika, Skye, and Niki excitedly chatting about the possibilities that lay ahead. The WVBA was proving to be everything they'd hoped for, and they couldn't wait to dive in.

Comparing Montessori Online Training Courses: What to Look for Before Enrolling
Montessori school, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, emphasizes student-led learning, autonomy, and experiential activities. While more and more Montessori teachers are demanded, many people prefer online courses for their versatility. However, not all such courses are equivalent. To find actual value and proper training, one should first learn what should be paid attention to when deciding on a program. Here are the things one should remember to consider when contrasting Montessori online courses.
.
1. Recognition and Accreditation
The one element that most clearly sticks out as being crucial when selecting a Montessori course is accreditation. Verify that the programs you are studying have been authorised by respectable Montessori organisations, such as:
Being accredited guarantees that the course satisfies certain educational requirements and qualifies you for credentials that are recognised by employers and educational institutions.
.2. Curriculum and Course Materials
A solid program will cover everything, even though every Montessori training program uses a different approach. Seek out classes that fully address the following topics::
The background of the Montessori philosophy
Development of children
Management of the classroom
Important topics include language, math, cultural studies, real-world applications, and sensory learning.
procedures for observation.
.
Make sure the course has comprehensive modules on these subjects with sufficient examples and reflection opportunities. Also, confirm that the curriculum is suitable for the age range you wish to teach, i.e., 0–3, 3–6, or 6–12 years.
3. Practice Training and Observation
An essential component of Montessori education is experiential learning.. Online courses may cover theoretical aspects but must also give scope for practicing it. Be on the lookout for courses with:
In-classroom or online observation hours
Practice teaching experience or assignments
Video recordings of actual Montessori classrooms
These will prepare you to practice what you know and become a more effective educator.
4. Support and Expertise of Teachers
How well you learn depends on the quality of your educators.. Examine the qualifications of the program's participating instructors. Are they certified by AMI/AMS? Have they actually taught in a classroom?
Additionally, confirm that the program offers:
Interactive sessions or live webinars
Individual coaching or mentoring
prompt assignment feedback
Peer support discussion forums
A course with an active instructor is typically more engaging and effective.
.
5. Length and Flexibility
When online learning is integrated into your routine, it is best. Some Montessori schools have a rigid schedule, while others are part-time. Before enrolling, ask yourself:
Can I work full-time or part-time there?
What is the maximum number of hours I can use the materials?
Are there due dates for assignments?
Choose a program dependent upon your lifestyle and pace
6. Cost and Payment Options
Montessori training programs can range widely in price.. Although the lowest price may be tempting, keep in mind that cheaper might not be better. Rather, consider the course fee against:
Depth and range of content
Accreditation and certification worth
Materials and resources covered
Access to instructors and community
See if the program has installment payments, scholarships, or discounts available to make it more within budget.
7. Alumni Feedback and Outcome
One of the best indicators of a course is feedback from previous students. Check for:
Course website testimonials
Online forum, social media, or Google reviews
Careers and alumni stories
These provide information that can give you an idea of the course experience, level of teaching, and prospects post-certification.
8. Certificate and Job Prospects
Once you have graduated, what kind of certificate are you going to get? Do Montessori schools recognize it locally or abroad?
A robust course ought to offer:
An accredited institution's certificate
Placement guidance in work or internship placements
Alumni networks or employment boards' access
Make your training investment materialize into genuine job prospects.
Final Thoughts
Selecting a proper Montessori online training course requires thoughtful consideration. Consider the curriculum, faculty experience, accreditation, and practical application. Do not rush in exploring your possibilities—selecting the appropriate program can be the beginning of a fulfilling and productive career in Montessori instruction.

Crushing Little Things: A Fast Paced Coming of Age Story Starring a Small Town Sociopath and the Teenage Boy Who Quickly Becomes the Object of Her Obsession by Amy Meitz
Juliette Violet Valentine never intended to be a problem child, she just never tried very hard not to be. She was simply a product of her environment, a voyeur into the unscrupulous world of her misguided, calculating mother. Juliette never meantto weaponize the family dog. She and Spike were just playing... Besides, rabies shots aren't that painful. Her younger sister, Anna? That was an unfortunate accident. Juliette's mother was guilty of ignoring her at the worst possible time, therefore she deserved to be punished. Juliette had been a very bad girl, but she appeared to be the perfect child. At just fifteen years old, Juliette had it all, beauty, grace, charm, and talent. She mastered the art of gymnastics, astonishing even the most accomplished coaches and judges. Juliette effortlessly captured the attention of the one and only talent coordinator in her tiny town, soon becoming the girl everyone recognized from the Sunday newspaper. Unfortunately, being the perfect little prodigy became quite dull for Juliette. She found herself choreographing exciting adventures that did not always turn out so well for everyone else. Juliette craved a challenge, soon setting her sights on Jonathon. He quickly became her pet project. Getting his attention was not enough, she wanted to own him. What Juliette did not expect was to experience actual human emotions and the desire to put someone else ahead of herself. Like Juliette, sixteen-year-old Jonathon Smithfield was blessed with good looks and a charismatic personality. While he may have had the image of being the proverbial bad-boy-next-door, Jonathon had a heart of gold. He was a fragile soul trying to come to terms with his unfortunate, abusive childhood. Even with his mother gone and his tyrannical father on his heels, Jonathon managed to persevere, never allowing his past to break him. Once Juliette got her hooks into Jonathon, he did not stand a chance. Jonathon unknowingly became the object of her obsession. Juliette, likewise, became the object of his obsession, all by her design... and while some may say Jonathon turned out for the better, one might wonder just how ethical it is to hunt, capture, trap and tame a free spirit. Crushing Little Things brings to life a working-class neighborhood on Red Schoolhouse Road in 1987. Juliette's and Jonathon's exploits are carried out just under the nose of the resident fairy godmother, the well-meaning detective, and the negligent, abusive adults who set the entire ordeal in motion. The reader will get to know Juliette and Jonathon through their perspectives and by way of various flashbacks of their traumatic childhoods.

The Replacement Crush
Synopses : True love can't be strategized. After book blogger Vivian Galdi's crush pretends their summer kisses never happened, she creates a list of safe crushes to protect her heart. But nerd-hot Dallas, the new guy in town, throws her off course. While designing software for the bookstore where she works, he wages a counter-mission. Operation Replacement Crush is on, and Dallas is determined to win her heart.
For readers looking for a light, cozy, and funny book to take with you on summer holidays, it's YA but not childish. This is not my usual reading style, and I often feel a bit too old for teenage romance. Yet, I must admit, this book turned out to be a delightful surprise that I truly enjoyed! This was my first reading of the year, and I was not much confident about this book. Actually I just read it because I wanted to read the second in the series “Bookworm Crush” - I love the title - and my OCD doesn’t allow me to skip books in a series (it doesn’t matter if they can be read as a standalone book). So meet Vivian Galdi, 17, and her group of friends - Jaz, Amy and Toff. Viv’s mother owns a bookstore in a small town (how cool is that!) and on top of that is a mystery writer with some success. Viv’s world revolves around books and she even has her own book club, centered on romance novels. From the start I started dreaming about growing up like that! The setting of the book is in a beach town, where hippies, surfers and celebrities roam together. During summer holidays Viv started to hangout with her forever crush, Jake, from the surf gang, exchanging kisses by moonlight, and she was over the moon herself! When classes begin however, she discovers that the boy she pined for so long is not who she thought, he’s a selfish boy who just wants to have fun with girls, and the more popular the better. She is crushed, doesn't know what to think of everything that happened or how to react towards him now, but he very clearly states that what they had meant nothing, and surely she couldn't thought it did.
So Viv starts a plan to have a replacement crush without hormone interference. She's going to choose a date that she has no interest in, that's "safe". Her friends keep telling her that this is a terrible plan, but as the best of friends, they are there to support her when eventually she falls. Meanwhile Dallas Lang, a boy one year her senior is new in town, and is employed by her mother to help with the store computer system. Dallas is what a nerdish teenager can only wish for - he is sexy, smart, attentive, he reads and practices martial arts, wow! A real McNerd! But Viv is set on her way to avoid more pain, and the damn hormones. Viv is a young whirlwind of awkwardness, stumbling through life, unintentionally stepping on everyone’s toes—both figuratively and literally. She’s been going on dates with people who could double as her wallet, completely overlooking their feelings like a cat disregarding a laser pointer. Meanwhile, Dallas, her dedicated relationship coach, is working overtime to enlighten her on the mysteries of love—bless his heart! Yet, Viv, in her infinite wisdom, sticks to her chaotic plan, ignoring the undeniable chemistry between them, nearly letting slip the chance to hang onto the one person who actually appreciates her brand of craziness! Dallas patiently guides her through all of the emotional rollercoaster, allowing himself to commit some mistakes himself. She will get on your nerves sometimes, but for me she's not as bad or clueless as some more mature heroines, so she gets a pass. Both of them are maturing and learning with the experience. What I truly appreciated about the book was how the characters resonated with me in such a warm and relatable manner; they weren't depicted as overly flawless or excessively flawed. The narrative approached sensitive topics, such as slander and physical assault, with a gentle touch, navigating these difficult subjects without overwhelming the reader or resorting to excessive embellishment—just beautifully balanced!

Wednesday ... it's Wednesday again.
The weeks just seem to be flying by! This week was of course punctuated by a major event. The US election took place on Tuesday, concluding what seems like an eternity of campaigning, and we feel that way all the way over here in Finland and we weren't even subjected to the barrage of US campaign ads and mailings and calls and yard signs that our friends and family in the US had to face on a daily basis. Experiencing this election from afar, from Europe, has been very odd. People here in Finland are interested in the outcome of the US election and they seem to be unilaterally opposed to Donald Trump. Alas, this man, who my husband and my children and I all find detestable, has once again claimed the presidency. I won't go into any more details about it in this post, because it's just too alarming and if I start detailing all of my reasons for concern, this blog post will just take a dramatic shift into a deep political and cultural analysis.
After some snow last weekend, the weather warmed again and most of the snow melted off. But on Monday and Tuesday there was still a lot of ice around and very slippery pavement. I've been convinced that I'm going to end up falling on my bottom at least a few times during our year here. I lived in Michigan for 12 years and I honestly don't remember ever wiping out on the ice there. I find that almost impossible, in retrospect, and I imagine that it probably did happen. Over the course of two days earlier this week, I seriously almost splatted on the sidewalk or in the parking lot on a number of occasions. I'm going to have to get those spiked to contraptions that go on my shoes.
Today, on Wednesday, it was in the mid-40s and was rather pleasant. I taught today and tomorrow I'm actually teaching again as I deliver a guest lecture on usability in a colleague's class. Also, this week, a podcast I did about the Yankton Dakota activist writer Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, otherwise known as Zitkala-Ša, was released on the Breaking Down Patriarchy podcast. I recorded this episode this last summer. My cousin, a professor at the University of Utah, had a graduate student who was the host of this podcast. Somehow my cousin referred the host, Amy Alebest, to me, and she had an interest in learning more about Zitkala-Ša, who I have written a lot about over the last 20 years. Anyway, I listened to the episode and I think it actually turned out quite well, and I guess that's saying something since I'm usually very critical of my own work and especially anything of me that's recorded!
Last week I wrote an email to the gymnastics school that Cece is a part of, asking whether I might be able to move her to a class that has a little bit more structure, more coaching/spotting, and is perhaps less of a recreational free-for-all, though I didn't put it in those terms. I heard back this week that she can do a trial class in a pre-competitive group at the beginning of December. If it works out, she'll move to that group. So she's excited to get ready for that. On Sunday, we went once again to the trampoline park in Kauppi and they also have some gymnastics equipment. So she and I worked a little bit on the USA Gymnastics Level 3 beam routine and we did some front handsprings, or rather I should say she did some front handsprings, and front flips on the trampolines. Rowan came too and did some rock climbing on the bouldering wall and on the big wall, with the auto-belay.
I don't have really anything else to report this week; the election results really took the wind out of my sails. But, perhaps some interesting and fun things will happen soon and I will tell you all about them in my weekend post. We know the weather is going to get colder again soon and once it's late November, things are going to get kind of hectic for us. I have a friend visiting from the US right before Thanksgiving, and then we have Fulbright Thanksgiving events in Helsinki, and then the next day we're flying up to Kuusamo to go skiing at the Ruka ski resort for the weekend, and then we come back, and the very next weekend, Cece has an ice-skating competition in Jyväskylä. So, late November will have lots going on, so a relatively uninteresting week--relative to our activities, sights we've seen, or Finnish things we've learned-- like this one is just fine.
