Heavily inspired by @deafenedsaltwater 's concepts. Idk what was in that post, but it sparked me to make a whole heap of sketches and ideas. Dunno how far I'm gonna roll with this concept, but for now it's rollin kinda far.

Loads of info below:

Four is the math teacher with X as his TA. Four's one of those teachers that really knows the material, but because they know it so well he thinks it should be easy for anyone to get. So they're kinda harsh with the students if they get something wrong.

Whereas X gives more positive reinforcements for students, and isn't as harsh with them. X doesn't know as much of the material, and probably looks to the teacher's textbook if they're lost. One of those teachers who kinda learns with the class.

Airy is the school's nurse and teaches the Home E.C. class, and he's awful at both jobs. When he's not starting fires or teaching the course like it's some kind of wilderness survival camp, he's mainly works as the nurse.

As a nurse, he misdiagnoses things constantly if it's not an obvious injury, and uses a bunch of herbal remedies for the few things he does know how to help with. Mainly scrapes and stomach aches.

Two often times subs in for him when Airy has to take care of a sick student, who often times will fake being sick so they can get Two to teach the class.

MePhone teaches coding and AutoCAD as an extra circular, and probably typing for lower grades. I keep slappin' a bunch of classes onto 'im cause I remember taking so many throughout high and middle school.

He doesn't enjoy teaching coding or typing since he doesn't see them as creative as making actual models for things in AutoCAD, even though the other two can be used creatively. MePad's kinda left to teach those classes despite being a TA.

Also it's a very hands off class where he gives them the basics of how to use the program, and the rest of the class is leaving the students to make whatever thing fits the assignment.

He's the kind of teacher who's real in tune with internet culture and reality tv so he uses a bunch of modern slang phrases or casually gives hot takes on shows if he overhears the students talking about them. Everyone thinks it's cause he wants to be "hip with the kids" when in reality he just has brain rot.

Clock's the history teacher. He discusses each history point with the same tone and enthusiasm, and remembers the years and eras with pinpoint accuracy. Kinda put too much emphasis on the dates, and how long events lasted, over the content of those events.

He's the teacher you can get to go on a long side tangent about something unrelated to the material, but they'd always find a way to bring it back to history.

Idk I also think it'd also be funny if he co-taught an economics class with Four (thinking there'd be a lot of math involved) when it's really more so about theories.

Out of all the teachers, Four and Clock are the most knowledgeable and could probably teach college level courses if they wanted to.

Animatic is the PE teacher with too much energy and gives the harshest workouts but thinks they're easy. Mainly cause he does them alongside the students and always has energy after to run laps around the school. Two would have probably told them to tone it down.

Speaking of-

Two is the health counselor and sub for Home Econ., but also has a bunch of unofficial jobs. They're the unofficial vice principal mainly cause the rest of the speaker boxes are kinda incompetent at their job, and they have to mediate not only students but teachers too (mainly Four and Animatic). As well as sub in for Airy, or even act as a supervisor, when need be.

Some other ones I haven't drawn yet are Daddy Long Legs as the music teacher, Popcorn as the theater teacher, and Hourglass as the English/Literature teacher.

The speaker boxes are the principle/VP/admin. They all kinda interchange with each other, considering how similar they all are also cause they switch out a lot in the original show.

Dunno who the science or art teacher would be, cause I'm mainly going after object shows I've seen. Honestly I may just swap some roles around.

Mainly doing this as a thing for funsies, but boy howdy is it a rapidly rolling snowball.

We continue to progress through Sburb in leaps and bounds, with only a brief interruption from Dave to discuss puppet anatomy in lurid detail. I’m so delighted to finally see the punch designix in action. My headcanon is that its keyboard has really great keys to press, the kind that make a satisfying click clack when tapped. And the noise when the card itself get punched by the machine? Man I wish that page had sound.

It’s helpful that this machine gives instructions. Would have been nice if the alchemiter did that too, you know, when John was four minutes and thirteen seconds away from a violent death. The comic spends longer (by number of pages) figuring out the designix than any other machine, which makes me think this one is really important, presumably for punch card alchemy. The process, in short, is to captchalogue an item, read the item’s unique alphanumeric captcha code from the card, type that code into the keyboard, and punch physical holes into the card the item is stored on. This traps the item, but presumably allows it to be produced by the alchemiter, following the same cruxite dowel → totem lathe → alchemiter process as the pre-punched card.

We saw with the ‘perfectly generic objects’ made by an uncarved dowel that the totems can be used multiple times, so this is a great way to duplicate objects – I would recommend more captchalogue cards, based on John’s current woes – although this will likely cost build grist, which is already at a premium. But for this to be a true alchemical process – transmuting a substance into another, more valuable substance – there needs to be a way to modify objects with predictable results. The hammer’s code is ‘nZ7Un6BI’ but what if John typed in ‘mZ7Un6BI’ or ‘Zn7Un6BI’ ‘Nz7uN6bi’ or ‘IB6nU7Zn’ or ‘nZ7UnGAY’? Could these slight modifications produce variations on a hammer, or items similar to a hammer? Are there rules that govern how an item would change based on how its code is altered? Would this look something like computer programming, forcing John to actually stick to his hobby instead of abandoning his code files on his desktop when they get too hard?

Captcha codes are designed to let humans browse the internet while stopping computer programs from attacking websites – so what’s the equivalent here? My guess is that although we’ve seen the imps in John’s house make use of strife cards, they and other NPCs won’t be able to decipher the captchas on the back of cards. They can use basic inventory mechanics, but wouldn’t be able to perform alchemy, which is what sets the player apart. I’m not sure about Nannasprite though. As someone who is both human and computer program, could she decipher a captcha?

Every time John mentions his dad, wanting to find him or wishing he was around to get some additional shaving cream, my heart breaks a little bit. He reminds me of a kid who’s gone away to camp for the first time and is really excited for some independence but ends up getting homesick. John keeps putting that bunny back in the box and every time, he’s referencing a scene where a dad risks his life just to get a gift to his daughter on her birthday, and… I can’t help but think that John’s thinking of reuniting with his dad every time he makes this reference, too.

Rose and Dave’s dynamic is fascinating to me. They should be studied by a team of world leading cognitive scientists. Rose is not at all taking Dave seriously while he’s lamenting entering the puppet singularity, and I wonder if he prefers it that way. As someone who’s not comfortable with emotional honesty, Dave might not want someone to respond with genuine sympathy, and by knowing that Rose will keep to a suitable number of layers of irony, Dave trusts Rose and can be more open with her. From this conversation (p.522) I feel like Dave has a campaign of one-upmanship with Rose like he does with his bro, except with Rose they’re on equal footing. Also I don’t think Rose’s poem works as a rap but she’d kill it at slam poetry.

The puns are SO good. ‘Captchalogue’ referring to internet captcha codes as well as the cards ‘capturing’ items is a great payoff for a word we learned 500 pages ago, and ‘proboscalypse’ is. I don’t have words

I think people need to give more leeway to parents who were manipulated by wilderness therapy programs. I'm not talking about the parents who are abusive and ship their kids off to these places to just get rid of them. I'm talking about the parents who have no idea how to navigate mental health in this day and age and just want to help their kids.

There's lots of stories of parents who try to be proactive in keeping their kid's mental health in check and the way these programs are described, it sounds like summer camp.

I've been to summer camp. I love summer camp. It's fun to be away from home for a week or two. If my parents were approached about sending me to a wilderness therapy place when I was starting out with anxiety, I would pack my bags and go right then and there. If you aren't aware of the breaking code silence movement and why it exists, there aren't many red flags. And the red flags that are shown are often covered up with a bunch of fake medical jargon that it confuses parents as to what they're doing.

There can be anger towards a lot of the parents who don't listen to their kids and just ship them off somewhere to get rid of them. They fucking deserve it.

But lets consider the nuance that a lot of parents didn't grow up with the mental health system that we have now. These programs prey on parents who genuinely want to help their kids and have no idea how to navigate helping their kid who's mentally ill or not even that they think their kid is mentally ill, they could just want their kid to go meet kids their own age while also having fun outdoors. Like I said, the shit they spew sounds like summer camp. It's meant to be deceptive. It's meant to prey on people who don't have a strong understanding of mental health.

Summary: Crow meets his soon to be mentor for his student teacher hours. Who puts him on the spot almost immediately giving him a full workload. Crow is at the end of his journey to a new beginning. His teaching days begin now. (My teacher Crow AU).

Crow and Glassouffle made their way over to the makeshift teacher lounge in one of the corners of the duel field stadium.

The lively banter of the kids and their friends somehow made most of his nervousness disappear.

At the teacher area, there was a slender young man going over notes. He had light brown hair that was slicked back with a few wild strands poking out. He wore a button up white shirt and dress pants. The suspenders were crossed over in the front. At least his weird sense of style made Crow feel less under dressed.

Of course regular dress code rules applied. However, this camp had a more lax rule set. The instructors could were a more relaxed casual style without being penalized. So Crow wore his normal outfit.

“Xitto, I’d like to introduce you to the new student teacher.” Glassouffle began.

Xitto turned his sharp gaze toward Crow from his papers. His gaze was intense. He looked him up and down and scoffs. “A bad boy. I’m sure you’re someone’s type.”

Crow was flabbergasted at the comment. It did not help that Glassouffle eyed him as well, slight concern written on her face. “Hmm…I’m sure if we keep him with the lower level classes it will be all right….”

Xitto rolled his eyes.

Crow had no idea how the topic ended up here of all places.

“The name is Crow Hogan!” In an attempt to bring everyone back on track, he introduces himself.

“Xitto Elizette.” He turns his full attention to Glassouffle. “You need to stop babying the new recruits.”

Glassouffle push’s up her glasses. Here genial smile not once leaving her face. “I’m just trying to ease him into the position. Go easy on him, Mr. Elizette.”

“I’m not a hand holder like you. Be gone! The camp starts soon.” Xitto shoos at her.

“I’ll be in the audience with the parents.” Glassouffle says as she walks off.

Xitto slides the notes towards Crow. “The plans and schedule are in there.”

Crow looks over the plans and schedule.

“You have actually participated in the tournaments before. I suspect that they will bombard you with questions.” Xitto says.

It was time for the camp to begin. They all gathered off to the side of the duel fields. It was a makeshift classroom with desks lined up and a mobile whiteboard.

“Good morning class!” Xitto starts off.

The class of twelve students had their full attention on Xitto as he stood in front of them.

“In this one week program, we will teach you the proper rules of the game. And answer any questions you may have. As well as get in some dueling.”

One kid raised his hand.

“I’m sorry but your playground rules don’t apply in official games.”

That same kids slowly put his hand down. It seems m Xitto has had a dealing with him before.

“Why is there a criminal here?” One girl asks.

“Because he is getting volunteer hours to stay out of jail. Next question.” Xitto looks over at Crow along with the rest of the group. The teacher did not hide the growing smirk on his face.

“Wait a minute!” Crow yells flustered.

After letting out a chuckle, Xitto changed his answer. “This is Crow Hogan. Get used to him as he will be joining us next semester as a student teacher.

Xitto glanced over at the audience hearing the growing uproar at this declaration. Crow did the same thing and noticed Glassouffle trying to calm them down.

“Now let’s get started.” Xitto begins to write on the whiteboard.

The lesson went on for about three hours before the lunch break. Some kids ate with their parents. Others hung out with their friends. Crow was sitting at the makeshift teacher lounge setup eating his lunch. Until Xitto came by and dropped one heck of a workload on Crow.

“I want you to come up with a lesson plan and event for the camp.”

Crow froze mid bite.

“Don’t give me that look. You signed up for this.” Xitto says.

“We already have a plan and schedule.”

“Don’t worry about that. I want something by the third day of camp. Got it.”

Crow nods. “Yes.”

“Oh! By the way, after lunch break, you’re teaching.”

That was also unexpected. But Crow took the challenge head on.

“How is everything going?” Came Glassouffle’s gental voice.

“How was dealing with the angry parents?” Xitto asks while smirking.

Glassouffle smiles and deflects. “I hear you are letting Crow teach after lunch.”

“Yes, I don’t baby students like some people.” He answered. “You can be sneaky at times when you want to be.”

Crow raised an eyebrow at that. Xitto turned to Crow.

“The school didn’t want to tell you until closer to the start of the semester. I am gonna be your mentor when you start your hours.” Xitto says.

Now it all made sense why Glassouffle wanted him to be apart of this camp. She really did give him a head start on everything.

“Thank you ms. Glassouffle.” Crow wanted to show his gratitude. The best way to do that was not let this experience go to waste.

After lunch, Crow’s instruction began in earnest.

The point of this was to get rid of any lingering nervousness about standing in front of a class. He was a bit miffed that Xitto would spring this on him. In the end he was responsible for these kids instruction.

He felt he had to adjust his perception of himself as a teacher. He was not superior to them. After all he still had a lot to learn too.

First as an instructor he had to work on communication to establish a better connection with his students.

“Mr. Hogan! The floor is yours. You can start by introducing yourself.” Xitto says as he walks to the side. Crow now had the attention of everyone in the room.

“Thank you Mr. Elizette.” Crow says. He had to get used to speaking more formally. “As Mr. Elizette explained, I am going to be taking over the class for the rest of the day. I know you are curious about me, so I will be taking a few questions about myself.”

A selected number of students rose their hands. Including Xitto, who had a smug look on his face. Crow elected to ignore him for now. He called on the same student from earlier that Xitto shut down.

“How can a criminal become teacher?” He asks.

“Just like Mr. Elizette and Ms. Glassouffle, I went to school and studied.” Crow answered and called on another student.

“You won the WRGP championship. Why are you here?” She asks.

“I had a mentor that inspired me.” Crow smiles. “Alright let’s get started.”

Crow straightened himself up.

“Now, I know you all are here to duel.”

At this most of the students perked up.

“For the rest of the day you all will be dueling. For each day we will be doing a different kind of dueling. Today we will be doing mostly one-on-one duels.” Crow says.

Crow and Xitto assign the kids their opponents. The kids were excited. This is what they signed up for.

Not everyone was able to duel, but there was always tomorrow. Though he had some homework to assign from the duels he witnessed.

“Impressive! All of you!” Crow applauded. “Nishiki, you have to learn to keep your cool when you are losing. You want to lead your own duel team right? You have to keep your cool or no one will want to follow you as a leader. You should also put some more spell and trap cards in your deck to help balance out your deck.”

“…”

“Guu, You need to be more confident in yourself. Doubting every move you make is a good way to lose confidence in yourself. Trust your deck and in your abilities.”

“…” She nod.

Once he gave out his observations, the first day of camp came to a close. Crow, Xitto, and Glassouffle stayed behind after everyone left.

“You did a pretty good job.” Glassouffle said.

“Still giving him the baby treatment.” Xitto scoffed earning him an eye roll from Glassouffle.

“There is room for improvement obviously. But for your first time you did okay. Your observation skills were top notch. As expected from a championship winner.” She says.

“Tomorrow you will be teaching the material. You got out of it today, but not for the rest of the week. And don’t forget about coming up with a lesson plan.” Xitto said.

“Yes sir. Although I think I have an idea in mind.”

oh BABY you're in for a treat!!!

i have a whole google doc planned out for this thing, despite me having no animation experience gjgkhkh... this is gonna be the Public Lore Dump Post btw, and spoilers for all of rain code will be under the cut.

so the concept for this whole thing came about while watching the animations of youtuber OkayScreamingNow. super cool animation btw, their "psycho teddy" animation moderately blew up but i'm a huge fan of their "everybody likes you" video.

between watching those, a ton of aimkid videos, wince media's meat bun song, and nicktendo's mighty b review, i started feeling really nostalgic for mid-late 2000s animation, the stuff i grew up on. growing up creepie, yin yang yo, kenny the shark, all these were shows i adored as a kid. so, combined with my current rain code fixation, this little au came to be!

the general conceit of this au is that "Master Detective Archives" is a 2008 animated children's program that lasted for 20 episodes and is majority lost media. only a couple episodes exist in the bowels of shitty piracy sites, and even then those sites keep getting taken down. the more screenshots and concept art i make, the more is "revealed" about the show.

one of the things that interests me the most about children's media is how people worked around the censors. a lot of people are familiar with the story of the ren and stimpy adult party cartoon. for those who aren't familiar, when john "god's mistake" kricfalusi created an adult oriented reboot of ren and stimpy, the show was dogshit. with the new ability to rely on the crutch of whatever grossout sexual humor it wanted, it became a massive stain on john k's career (he has had other horrific stains both before and after apc, but i need to stress, no one liked apc).

for a more positive example, i love pretty much all of jhonen vasquez's work, but i find the humor and even some of the horror of invader zim to be more interesting than the same stuff in jthm, because iz was working under far stricter standards and practices.

what i'm trying to get at is that i enjoy the challenge of seeing how i can take concepts and make them more kid-friendly while still keeping the intrigue and interest the concepts originally had. i worked at a summer camp in 2022, and the driving force behind this little project was "keeping rain code camp-appropriate, but also keeping it interesting".

this ethos will hopefully explain some of the Big Changes i made to the story and characters. i do want to stress that i do not think i am improving on the original work. i think rain code is a story that, inherently, works better as an m-rated, gritty, cyberpunk-y murder mystery. i've just always been uniquely fascinated by this particular genre shift.

so, first major change: nocturnal detective agency has turned into nocturnal detective academy. this is a place where young minds, particularly those with supernatural powers, go to hone their craft. or at least... it was. now it's run exclusively by three people: headmaster Zange Eraser, school nurse and therapist Melami Goldmine, and teacher (and everything else) Yakou Furio.

i grew up with a book series called school of fear, which was about a small group of kids with severe phobias being sent to help conquer their fears at a highly rated school. however, it was actually just a kooky old lady and her massive mansion, and while she helped the kids get over their fears, she did it in unorthodox and occasionally darkly humorous ways. i remember a scene in the books where she put the claustrophobe and the kid afraid of death in a coffin for a few hours, and while that is absolutely NOT how exposure therapy works, the idea of a school that's just a few adults running a lowkey scam out of their house has always tickled my funny bone.

so the nda is a school, teaching detective skills and the like. of course, because yakou is my beautiful failwife, he mostly just sends his students out into the city of Kanai Ward to do their own investigative work and report back with what they've learned... as long as they don't get in trouble with Hecksmile or his goons, at least!

yeah, the other big change is that the peacekeepers are more like team rocket than corrupt cops. while i agree that the police suck, and a lot of older cartoons seem to share that sentiment (even some newer ones like gravity falls), having all the villains be evil, corrupt cops seems like a recipe to get s&p on your ass. so now, the cops just don't do anything, and Hecksmile and his goons just wreak havoc whenever they feel like it.

(i've already explained the hecksmile bit in a previous post, but i dont think any of the other names would need changing. maybe if this was the 90s, desuhiko and fubuki would get their names changed to something more eurocentric, but this isn't the 90s and that stuff was cringe even back then.)

there are only seven students at the academy, and i've de-aged these characters to be more relatable to the target audience: our main character yuma, halara, desuhiko, fubuki, vivia, pucci, and aphex. i'll detail them a bit here, because yakou, zange, and melami can all stay pretty similar (actually, melami doesn't randomly feel up strangers to get their clothing measurements anymore, but that's a pretty minor change).

yuma is still our main character, acting as the straight man and audience surrogate. the whole "number one" twist isn't really a thing with how this whole plot is set up, so his awkward and generally "scrunkly" attitude from the game is his natural state here. though none of the ages of the characters are specified, he's often called out as the youngest detective, probably in his preteens or early teenagehood. his coalescence is used for a lot of teamwork-based solutions to problems, but he isn't that great at actual mystery-solving.

this is where shinigami comes in! in the first episode, after some hijinks, yuma accidentally summons a death god. fortunately, he summons a teenage death god. she can only appear in her cool human form in her summoner's dreams, she can't interact with anyone in the physical world except her summoner, and she doesn't even have her reaper's license yet! regardless, she likes having a friend, so she helps yuma see things from different perspectives. i figured death spirits wouldn't be off the table, exactly (i mean, look at billy and mandy), but i think there's a certain humor in a death god not being able to do any soul reaping. i like to think she talks about it like her driver's license. "ugh, i'm not allowed to reap any souls until i'm 16 thousand years old! i'm only 14 thousand!!!" because of her teenagerdom, her human form is going to be far less sexualized. also because i think her canon outfit is a little ugly.

halara doesn't change much from canon. very mysterious and intimidating. no one knows their gender because everyone's too afraid to ask (and to find out, you'd have to pay them about $100 in cash). they still love cats but have an allergy to them, they still don't trust people, etc.

desuhiko changes a lot from canon. he's less actively creepy and more of a wannabe romantic. he has a tendency to fall for grown women, although he has absolutely no chance with any of them. this is played for laughs.

fubuki is another character who doesn't change much from canon. obscenely rich and super out of touch with everything around her. has occasional bursts of intelligence for comedy.

vivia is still everyone's favorite emo sadboy, writing poetry in the fireplace. his passive suicidal ideation, though interesting to explore in media made for adults, is very dangerous to put in a children's show, so we're nixing that. instead, he's just real sleepy and goth. he's also the least interested in doing actual detective work, so when he and yuma are investigating together, it gives yuma a chance to take the lead.

pucci doesn't change much from canon, but admittedly, we don't know too much about her. she's sensitive to noise, very thoughtful and introspective, but very awkward around people being nice to her.

and aphex. what to say about aphex. i don't like aphex for a number of reasons (anyone who played with jpn audio can back me up on this one), but the idea of someone who is initially violent and cruel becoming your (still somewhat violent and cruel) ally is a fun character trope to me. my go-to example is buford from phineas and ferb, and i think that's the role aphex would play. initially a threat, but eventually becomes softer and more well-developed. well, if the show got more seasons.

and that's our main cast! i could talk about kurumi, makoto, and martina, as i have a lot of cool ideas for them, but i have been writing this for like an hour and i think i need to chill ahaha... ty for the ask!!!

Nova Curious Headcanons

I just played through her sims 4 scenario so I want to talk about Nova because she is my baby and I love her. Very vast contrast to her uncle...

Nova Is Lazlo's baby and I will die on this hill. Mostly because Vidcund Curious would never name his kid some basic space name like Nova. But Lazlo isn't really a space-type scientist from Lazlo's bio we know he has a degree in a pseudoscience that is connected back to Psychology. So if one of the three brothers would choose a basic space name its Lazlo because he wanted his kid to go with the theme

And If Nova's mother is Crystal she's a Astrology girly if I have ever seen one so more evidence to Novas basic space name

Nova was the baby all around in her family being the youngest curious cousin

Nova is also the only non-Alien Curious cousin so she is special compared to the rest of them. (if you are confused Nova's three 100% canon cousins Johnny, Jill, and Tycho are half alien and then Vidcund's baby I opted into is also half alien then Lola and Chloe are half alien so if they have babies they are also aliens)

Nova met Lewis at daycare as toddler and they became best friends as fast as you can make toddlers talk

Lewis's parents worked a lot so when they could they had Lewis over at other people's houses so he could interact with people and with how fast Nova and Lewis became friends it was over at the Curious House with the gaggle of Curious kids.

Nova was closest with her cousin Tycho who is ten years older than her but still the best cousin to her

I don't know what it is with my gameplay but there started to be generational beef with Nova and Vesta(Viddy's Alien baby)

Nova was always a competitive kid when it came to her education and because of that Nova and Lewis had a playful rivalry when it came to school (Think never have I ever Davi and Ben)

In high school and middle school Nova and Lewis go into doing the same activities as each other which made their friendship grow stronger. One of those activities was programming and on the high school level Nova became one of the top programmers in the southern SimNation(/merica?).

This made Lewis Jealous more than he ever thought he could get jealous of Nova because he loved Nova how can he be this Jealous?

Lewis and Nova briefly dated during their last year of high school.

Nova spent the summer after she graduated working at the Lab in their programming sector which for the most part was a lot of basic programming compared to what Nova was used to doing. So Nova lost a lot of her ability to do super complex coding.

That same summer Lewis went to a programming training camp where Lewis gained a lot of skill points in programming just so he could go into his first year of university and show off to Lewis

What Lewis didn't take into account is that he is extremely childish and all he did was piss Nova off.

That marked the start of Nova's villain arch with Lewis. Nova went all the way with her hatred of this man for the next 6 years, Voodoo dolls, really aggressive pranks, the full 9 yards of sims anger

After collage graduation Nova struggled to get a job at a programing place so for the next 3 years she worked back at the lab but this time she made sure that she was given harder programming jobs so she didn't lose any skill if anything she only wanted to gain skills.

After what felt was a eternity of three years Nova got a job as a tech guru! At the same place that Lewis works... at the same level of position which made Nova free a little proud because Lewis worked years to get to well Nova just walked in and got

For the next year Nova and Lewis where at each others necks and Nova gave her everything to the company with in a year getting two premotions.

Till Lewis got laid off from work.. this was weird to Nova because Lewis was on top of the world for years in the field how could he just get laid off

Later Lewis asked to stay with Nova for a few week which turned to months (Lewis and his best friend Kyle really like to over stay there welcomes)

During this time Nova and Lewis got really close again and even started to flirt and then it lead them into dating again.

After a while of Nova and Lewis starting up a indie game company Nova quit her job so they could be more mobile in where they wanted to live

They Moved to Tomarang

Where Nova Met one of her closest friends Vanesha Cahyaputri

This is also where Nova and Lewis got married in the ZoSul Taman Botani(renovated obviously)

And because the Curious name is much more Iconic then Lewis. Lewis became Lewis Curious

They adopted 2 Whippet's names Tereabyte and Dotcom and then bought a hand full of chickens all named after the MCnugget buddies from the 90s

I'm getting to go home like 3 hours earlier than I thought it was going to tonight. This is excellent. Honestly I had a pretty good day overall and the event tonight was fun even if it was a lot less well attended than I think the group hoped. It was still a good night.

I woke up unhappy today. I got plenty of sleep but I did not want to get up and my alarm frightened me. When I woke up though it was tangled in the blanket and I couldn't find it for a minute but in shaking out the blanket to turn the alarm off I found James is missing earring. So that was exciting. I know they were sad about that. And I was excited to be able to get back to them.

So pretty cute today. I liked my overalls and I was feeling ready to do low ropes. But I actually would not do low ropes in the end I would do macro survey. Which is what I originally had wanted to do anyway so that was totally fine with me. And I got myself ready and held sweet pea for a little bit. James made me an egg sandwich. And then I went to work.

And it wasn't a terrible drive. I did feel like we were dealing with some amount of traffic and some amount of stupid. But not a huge deal. The piano was back! And that was weird.

I got to camp and went to the office to grab the key for ropes. And then I drove up there to set up low ropes and was doing pretty good. I was enjoying my podcast. My allergies were bothering me really bad. Like from the moment I woke up I was very itchy and sneezy and my eyes hurt. Thankfully the allergy medication made my eyes better but I was just itchy and sneezy basically all day. The pollen was really bad. Like it coded my car. Not not comfortable.

I will go back to the office and Elizabeth would ask me if I wanted to do macro instead and I said sure. So I went and grabbed the gator to set that up. And I got to be very vindicated when Elizabeth had given me the spare key because the regular one was missing and I immediately found the regular one in the cup holder. And I'm just like guys did none of you look. Apparently they had just asked Manny to do it and he did not look very well. And it was very funny to see them all freak out and go we shouldn't have trusted him. It was very silly.

But I got my program set up and I decided I would be at stream site. I would mainly regret that. Like it's nice being down there but it's so hard to find anything. I was basically the only one finding stuff all day. I was hoping that would be better for finding water bugs but no such luck. The water was just moving too much.

I would go and drive the Gator around to pick up some materials because I needed more nets and they weren't where I thought they were and it was like a whole thing. But I would end up parking the Gator at the lodge and then hanging out on the porch for a bit but Elizabeth asked me to put the gator back for real so I did. And then when I came back the group was still not there. Took a few minutes for them to arrive but once they did they were really nice.

They were older than I expected. Third grade through 8th or 9th. But good kids. They broke them into their age groups. The problem really was that the teacher seemed very confused about what programs they were doing. They were in the impression they were doing zip line. But I zipline is currently broken so instead we had them on the schedule to do horses and climbing tower and archery and. Apparently the teacher we spoke to yesterday did not communicate that to anyone. So we were having to deal with them being a little confused. But I still think that the group had a really nice time and that is all that matters to me in the long run.

I would take my group after a long wait of them figuring out who was going where. And we went down the hill and they were great. They were funny and found some good stuff. I would find a newt with almost every group today. So that was really exciting for me. I was having more luck finding things than the kids were though. I was still counting them. I was putting them in the box and letting them look at them and not making a big deal about what I found or what they found. I just wanted them to experience stuff and they were being very brave and I appreciated that.

How's the group Scott older though had less luck. Mostly because some of them were just not participating. It was fine but it was just like not fun for me. Like if you're not going to participate at all you're being very boring. And I was not going to play with them and pretend I didn't think they were being annoying about it. I was like I think people who don't do science are boring. Literally all we're doing is drapes around in the woods and you're screaming over dirt. Boring.

But overall the kids were great and the teachers were great. I had a couple teachers that were just very much not into this and I think that did not help the enthusiasm of their children. But it's fine. I had two groups in the morning and I was in a good mood. I was just sneezy and tired but not terribly so.

Elizabeth said that there would be pizza for us so that was exciting. But I would still go to the office and eat the lunch that I brought. I had some salad and a couple of the leftover fried raviolis from yesterday. I chatted with Heather and Alexi and then walked over to the lodge for the aforementioned pizza. And all of a sudden Elizabeth's like hey we may not have any pizza. And so then everyone was kind of sad but it turned out they had like 10 pies left. And it was Michael's which we always get but it was thinner than normal and it wasn't as good and that was a little sad. I still ate it cuz I love pizza. And we were all chilling in the kitchen and just hanging out and it was nice. I still am feeling a little weird. I don't really feel like I have a confident now that Celia isn't there and that makes me sad but I'm still enjoying it and talking and doing my best to be a part of the conversations. And I was having a nice time.

My afternoon groups were a little rougher. A little more screamy. One child threw a net at another and hit me in the face and it was really upset about it. Another said I looked like a cop?? And then another said I was emo and I was shopped in the moment and the teacher made them apologize to me and I was like hey it wasn't a huge deal I just caught me off guard. And I wasn't sure if they were saying it as a compliment or as a mean thing and that's why I was like that's not nice when he said it. because it felt like he was making fun of me but I could be wrong. I wish I could have found the pictures Mom sent me last year from when I was 13 because I think that would have been funny to show him but I couldn't find them on my phone.

My last group was the only one that really didn't even kind of drive. Of the 14 kids I had three of them participated. And I really appreciated those three and then four kids. Because I was getting kind of bummed out. First of all they were 20 minutes late to a 35 minute program. And then when I finally got them down there half of them were like absolutely not gross not touching bugs not doing any of this and I'm like okay. But then the teacher also didn't try to participate and let them stand in the road and she just went out and stood there with them and I'm like This is not really encouraging your kids to do science. Like this is the one school program that they have to do today and you are just going to let them stand over there and throw balls at each other okay. That's fine not my circus not my monkeys I guess.

But I found that very boring because I think they would have really enjoyed it if they tried. Or even just hung out in the woods with me you didn't even have to find anything. They were all just like oh we have allergies I'm like okay fine sure. I also have allergies like been sneezing literally all day. But I told the kids that tried how much I appreciated them doing so and in the end we found nine things. Not the best not the worst. It was fun.

I cleaned up and I was determined to carry everything to the office in one trip. Because I really wanted to leave it too and it was 2:00 exactly at this point. I sent the group up the hill and muscled that stuff that I had with me even though it hurt my hand so bad. And after I dropped everything off and collected my things I said goodbye to Heather and Alexi and then I was off.

This was a pretty tight turnaround because I told Jesse that I would be there at 3:30. Honestly probably just should have said I'll be there at 4:00 but I felt bad because maril was getting there at 2:30. But now we are going to deal with this by doing split shifts so that we overlap but I don't have to rush as much and I very much appreciate that. Because I had a 40-minute drive home so I left at 2:00 got home around 2:45. Brought in the mail pet Sweet pea grabbed Ruby. Went upstairs turned Ruby loose to vacuum while I took a shower. I tried on my new dress that came in the mail. I held Sweet pea for a minute. I got dressed. I read in my makeup. I did not like my hair so I tried to brush it out and put product in it and it didn't help much. And then it was time to go and I was already running late.

So having an extra hour or so will definitely alleviate some of that because I did not get to eat and that was not ideal. It's all fine like nobody cares that I'm late nobody really cares when I start. It will matter later but for now while we're doing these training and practice runs it's not as big of a deal. I just like to be punctual and so it is hard for me.

I had a really nice night though. This was a party for the contractors and Union electricians and carpenters and the people in organizations that work with them. But there was apparently a ton of traffic and only about half the people they were expecting showed up which was a bummer. They were supposed to be like delegates and stuff and they couldn't come because they got trapped in Annapolis. But everyone who did came was really nice. And it was like a low key party but the food was really good and the people were really nice and I really enjoyed my night. I really enjoyed hanging out with My coworkers. And I was just having a good time learning about stuff and meeting the caterers and shaking hands. When we ran out of things that we actively had to do we had a sit down long couple hour meeting where we discussed procedures and ideas and trying to optimize stuff and it was a lot of fun. Like I felt like I was learning stuff and that was cool I always like to learn.

We would take a break to go eat. There wasn't much okay but there was shredded potatoes with cheese and it was really good. I honestly probably should have had a second cup but I was having a good time and I got to try a whole bunch of desserts and they were all Spanish and caramel. And it was great. The little cookie sandwiches were my favorite. And I was enjoying talking to Meril and Jesse and then a woman came up and stood with us and she was like can I eat with you guys and we're like oh my god yes we are staff and she was like no that's chill. And we ended up networking with her and we got business cards and we talked about collaborating both with the museum and with camp and it was really cool just to feel like a person and get to interact with people and I hope that I can do that more because that's something I've always loved about events. I love getting to meet all different types of people and thinking about what we can do. And we also found out that her and Jesse live like one block away from each other so it was really cute that they got to like be neighbors and it was awesome. I was just having a really good time.

The night would go on. And because they had so few people they cleared out a little bit early. They were really thankful and really nice and hoping that they could come back in the future with hopefully more people. And then we just started cleaning up. Jesse would show us more about turning off lights. Me and Meril would race across the room to try to get to the light switch before the other one. We were just having a silly time. Being goofy. But we were also making decisions and discussing stuff to make things run better in the future. To foster better communication throughout the different departments and the community around us that shares our campus. And I think we're just a really good team. I think we all have like different energies and silliness but like it comes together really well too.

At the very end of the night as the caterers were leaving they gave us whole bag of food and they didn't want it so I took it and so I'm about to go inside our house and look through this bag and I'm very excited about it.

We would all say goodbye and left a little after 10:00. And now I'm sitting outside the house and I'm excited to go inside and see my husband and my cat and get ready for bed.

tomorrow we do not have a field trip but I am still going to go to camp and probably set up some stuff for Monday's field trip. And then I have prom! Because that is our event tomorrow and until excited about it. I don't have to go in till 4:00 so I do have some wiggle room which is nice. And I just hope that I have a good day. I hope you do too.
