Position Yourself! (Part 2)

Yesterday, I required of you to take a position of surrender. Today I am calling you to recognise the spiritual standing in which I have purposefully positioned you. Having released that which was holding you back, I now ask you to understand the spiritual position that I have given you. You may look around you and see that there are some worldly things that have not yet changed – they look the same as they did yesterday. But you are viewing them with earthly eyes. I am calling you to view them as they are in the spirit – do you not have the victory through Jesus who has overcome?

My child, you must become aware of the spiritual weight and authority that is yours through Jesus – your prayers and declarations should come from a place of victory, not of request. Settle your spirit with Mine, ensure you are aligned with my purposes – and speak with authority to that which you need to overcome.

Position yourself in spiritual authority, speak out of a place of victory, and call into order the earthly chaos that surrounds you. Your words, when aligned with my Spirit – in the purpose of my Kingdom, have the power to shift, to break through and to build.

Activation:

Position yourself in a standing posture, if you are able. Position yourself in a strong and ready stance. Recall the situations from yesterday; dreams not realised, debts not paid, family not reconciled, calling not recognised. Examine your heart honestly, and let go of the things that are not on God’s heart for you – that were born out of selfish ambition. Ask Holy Spirit to show you the areas upon which you need to stand and overcome. Stand firm in your body, and in your spirit – you have been positioned by God purposefully, to overcome that which is for His Kingdom. Declare aloud that you have victory through Jesus, and that you call into order that which is causing chaos. Stand firm in the spiritual authority you have to call situations (name yours aloud) into the alignment of God’s will and purposes in your life.

1 John 5:3-5 (AMP) “For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey]. For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. Who is the one who is victorious and overcomes the world? It is the one who believes and recognizes the fact that Jesus is the Son of God.”

Season 2

The Dalek Invasion of Earth

The Doctor lands the TARDIS in London, but 200 years ahead of where Ian and Barbara belong. The planet has been conquered by the Daleks, digging a great mine in Bedfordshire and enslaving most of the populace. The travellers, split by fate, ally with the small resistance movement to make a stand against the Daleks.

A little less than a year after the show's debut, the Daleks returned for a rematch. And it's a good one. I was looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint. As with the first Dalek story, I was moderately familiar with the idea of this one thanks to the (darker yet sillier) movie, but again, I'll try to avoid talking about the movies, unless anyone wants me to cover them at some point. From the start of this story where a man in a massive metal headpiece rips it off howling before lurching into a dirty river to die, we're hooked. Terry Nation hits a few familiar story beats with the travellers being split up and allying with the locals to fight the bad guys, and more than just the Daleks to worry about, but amps it right up. The Daleks are everywhere, and where they can't go, their staggering zombie-ish Robomen are there, and then there's the Slyther prowling around the mine hunting any human stragglers. I would have liked to have seen a little more of the Slyther to get a clearer idea of just what this thing looks like, but I'll let that go. The fact that it's only ever shown briefly and in black and white only adds to the overall mystery of how repulsive it must look in full.

We know the budget wouldn't extend to sets of a trashed London, so we have to content ourselves with a few grimy bits of the city's underbelly, Dalek graffiti all over the place, and the utter strangeness of the sight of Daleks in an empty Trafalgar Square among other places. Nation later admitted that the Daleks were based on the SS and Nazis, and we definitely get hints of that, with them rolling around waving their plungers in the air, but especially as they start talking about a final solution regarding the humans towards the end, which is definitely uncomfortable to hear even nowadays, ESPECIALLY nowadays. And we're looking further towards the show's future too. "Exterminate" is being heard more frequently, Peter Hawkins and David Graham have changed the way they voice the Daleks, sus-tai-ning and e-nun-ci-a-ting words lon-ger, and we've got our first instance of Dalek hierarchies based on colour with the black Dalek leading the operation, and a uniquely patterned one commanding the saucer at the heliport. I could probably go on about this story all day given the chance.

But of course it's not perfect. The TARDIS is already looking a bit battered, and I felt the story started to flag a bit in the final episode, not helped by an excessive amount of dialogue flubbing in the Daleks' control room, and some unusual use of stock footage to simulate a volcanic eruption below the Daleks' mine, putting an end to their occupation. These are offset however by Susan's departure, her having fallen in love with David, a survivor of London. To save her the agony of having to choose between the two most important men in her life, the Doctor chooses for her, locking her out of the TARDIS so she can put down the roots she's been trying to reach for. It's a very poignant scene, and Hartnell delivers his farewell to Susan beautifully. I honestly can't recommend The Dalek Invasion of Earth enough, it's a must-watch.
