I see a lot of Apollo kids getting cold easily type of stuff. But I offer-

Apollo kids being able to warm themselves to a certain extent vs Hephaestus kids getting cold easily.

The Sun is what warms the earth. It's what makes it cold or warm and it can't really be put out.

Fire on the other hand??

Like yes you make fire to warm yourself, but fire can be put out in a way the sun can't. You can hide from the sun, sure. But you can't throw water on it and call it a day.(also, metal in general can cool down at a certain level and take a lot to get to its melting point-)

So yeah. Hephaestus kids are wrapped up in 50 layers during the winter why the Apollo kids might even be seen in sweaters and shorts-

meanwhile future ravenstan, who i like to think went back to school, minored in wildlife, became an badass emergency travel veterinarian, is constantly on the move and on location ( and by that i mean like srsly impoverished third world countries, the amazon rainforest, rural new zealand where they desperately need vets, australia with all the shit that can fkn Kill You, buttfuck -40 siberia saving the polar bears )

working with non-profit wildlife protection and conservation efforts, has a little squad of hyper-vigilant zoomanitarian search and rescue emergency animal doctors that specifically head to dangerous places doing intense emt roadside surgeries, goth boy apothecary hot boy shit, foraging for supplies, making life-saving medicine out of tiny mushrooms and pieces of tree bark, running through fields with possible landmines in it to save endangered species, going full emo indistana jones adventuring and saving the world as captain stanet in no mans land w/ all his tattoos and piercings ( hero KING! )

...just pointing and laughing at teacher yersey when he finally gets thirty min of service on the helicopter flying out of snake island, brazil having nearly escaped having his flesh melted off by pit vipers doing important smart boy science research on different poisons and his fiancé calls him bc he got a bug bite and he thinks he's Cooked.

Whenever I think about Godly parents and how we, as a fandom, assign ourselves Cabins, I think about the fact that if I were in the PJO universe I wouldn't be a child of Apollo like I want. I wouldn't be a child of Melpomene either. I would be a Hermes kid.

all of the cabins are covered in vandalism

little bits of writing, drawings, ect

the cabins look (relitivly) clean at a first glance, but looking closer

you can peek into a camper from 60 years ago's mind

you can see who was dating during the revolutionary war

you can see a meme that a kid wrote yesterday on the back of the zuse cabin

you can see (very cliche) kiss stains on the side of the aphrodite cabin

you can see fire stains (that leo totaly didn't do /j)

some are more faded than others, but if you had the right equimpment,

you could see the notes from the begging of the camp.

personal rant

I have a wonderful old computer. It's over 20 years old and has never given me a single problem. But it's become obsolete. So I finally invested and got myself a new laptop. It cost 3k and has the highest, best, latest everything. Huge hard drive, memory for miles.

It crashed on me 3 weeks after I bought it. It needed a whole new hard drive.

I have been working on a huge Gallavich fic, almost 200 pages written and about 3 quarters done. I usually save a copy to my email just in case anything happens. A huge chunk of the fic I wrote last was on the laptop -75% of it- and I went to open the file I saved and the file was corrupted. I was so stupid not to check it. I'm an obsessive saver. I'm always so careful.

I just want to abandon this whole fic now because I'm having a tantrum and I have to try and energize myself into writing it all again, remember the good stuff and wondering if it's even worth it. Trying to see it as an opportunity but... damn i feel gutted.

Just got the computer back so at least I can make some gifsets again!

boss announced with exasperation (at us, his snow-day-asking employees. not at the policy. to be clear) today that we don't have designated snow days and we only do two-hour delays when the SCHOOLs have snow days. not when the schools have two-hour delays. when we do nothing different and have to come in as normal. like we're some kind of essential fucking service like a hospital or the grocery store. if the library is closed due to inclement weather ... some people will be briefly inconvenienced. most of them only mildly. dont know where you get off on not even building snow days into the schedule in a notoriously unpredictable lake effect region. also dont know where he gets off on saying to me 'you chose to live out in your little cabin' when i explain that it's possible i will be late getting in on these kinds of days. due to. the fucking snow. you think its impractical for me to live thirty minutes out of town? pay me closer to town money you literally control the money i earn. a thousand deaths upon you straight boy

the ballad of songbirds and snakes initial review/reaction

okay first of all. i absolutely loved it and thought it was very truthful to the book and covered all the main elements. francis lawrence just knows how to bring these books to life. tom blyth is just incredible as a young coriolanus snow and i can’t wait to see where his career takes him. i already loved rachel zegler after her performance in west side story, but it just felt like lucy gray was meant for her. her charisma, vocals and acting were just beautiful. the scenes where she’s singing with the covey really just brought those scenes from the book to life. the movie was fast paced and generally entertaining to watch. it felt so good to be back in this world that suzanne collins has created so exquisitely.

the only things i think were lacking, and i did think this when reading the book itself, is that the story feels a bit disjointed. like you’re jumping from place to place. i think the third act should be more fleshed out- more of snow’s time in 12, particularly the events leading up to his betrayal of lucy gray and sejanus. i’d like to see a bit more build up and suspense to those actions. i feel like they feel a bit too impulsive and sudden in line with the overall story. also the end scene at the cabin didn’t make as much sense without him founding out on the morning of running away about his transfer to district 2 imo. bc that felt like his motivation for turning on lucy gray, whereas in the movie he knows about that a lot earlier ?? i also think some scenes could have packed a bit more of an emotional punch? especially some of sejanus’ scenes that felt a bit cut short- like his reaction when marcus is hung up in the arena and his death scene. in general i feel like sejanus’ character and his relationship with coriolanus could have been more fleshed out in the movie.

overall i really enjoyed it and i can’t wait to see it again. it feels like a valuable addition to the franchise. i just don’t feel like it packs that emotional punch that the original trilogy does - but obviously there’s a lot less time to build up the storyline and character relationships in one movie/book. i’m also glad i reread the book before i saw the movie, bc i could hear people whispering around me when they didn’t understand certain things that were going on.. this feels like a movie for the fans, and i don’t know if it will resonate with general audiences as well

I don't think we talk enough about how badass Baby Annabeth is for a moment.

My girl straight up stabbed an Overgrown Hugeass FUCKING CYCLOPS, who was mimicking her dad's voice which was so compelling not to give in, especially after seeing the people who took care of her, her closest thing to family in a helpless situation. Oh yeah did I forget to mention the people who were in trouble were much older than her and Annabeth was only seven. Lemme, say it again, she was S-E-V-E-N.

Percy had doubts on his own bravery(which albeit slight lack of self-esteem) after hearing her aay this and wrapping it up with a shoulder shrug saying "oh he would've killed me". Like seriously....this girl.

Oh, and she ate a magic-proof vitamin within one minute and made sure to kick Circe's butt and hand it back to the sorceress, and requested her to be turned into a panther so she could slaughter Circe and held her at a knife point.

Dragged said sorceress to the cage and made sure she watched as Annabeth released all the male rodents that Circe had painstakingly captured with disdain

Like Ms Chase did not hesitate.
