how Conner Kent became Conner Luthor Kent

Kon realizes one afternoon when he, Tim, Bart and the girls are relaxing at a resort that is too expensive for any of them (except Cissie) to afford that, damn it, he can't go out with Timothy Drake if he's a nobody.

Tim is a prodigy, smart, rich and handsome and Conner could be the trophy husband, he would be so happy with that, but YJ's life plan is to get Tim out of Gotham and keep him from killing himself working as a civilian and in the nightlife.

Conner would never take Tim from his comfortable life, ruled by luxury and money, in Gotham to stick him in a student apartment in a corner of Metropolis, no, that wasn't right, if he wanted to date Tim Drake he should be someone important, someone who can afford the life of luxury that his dear Robin was born into.

People tend to think of Conner as a good country soul, he is, but half of him comes from a hateful little man who conquered Metropolis and made his entire empire.

Kon is intelligent, he has a lot of knowledge dormant in his mind, above all, people underestimate him because of the exterior he shows, so it's very easy.

He shows up at Luthor Corp (formerly Lex Corp, renamed after, well, Lex Luthor screwed up and got arrested, he did a lot for Kon to remember). Lex's sister is officially in charge, but the board of directors runs the company, so Kon schedules a meeting with Lena Luthor, arrives in his civilian clothes, tells her he'd like to know what's going on with the company now that Lex is in jail. Lena explains that the company is only in one piece thanks to the board's herculean effort to prevent bankruptcy (a lot of people would lose their jobs and benefits because of that), Lex was the entire mind behind that company, no one could understand the notes he left or decode what his plans for the future of the company were about.

Kon looks at the sheets of notes from the notebooks Lex left and translates: You should sell the branches of the department stores in Australia, despite the profit, something will happen in the market that will make them bankrupt, it's better to sell at the peak of profit.

The board of directors looks at him like he's Jesus come back.

So it starts, he sits in on meetings translating and decoding the crap Luthor left behind and a few weeks later he has an office, months later he's using the man's old office and by the end of that year he's managed to get Lena to sign the company over to him with the full support of everyone important who worked there.

And boy, is that a lot of money, Kon manages to set up a college fund for Jon, buys new tractors for the farm and rebuilds the barn into something decent, he donates new computers to the Daily Planet (Lois almost cried over that), he also helped Kara finance an apartment in Metropolis for when she needed it.

The best part is that Kon loves his job and everyone else in the company loves him. All the money that Luthor Corp makes is practically given back to the community. In the space of a year, Conner Luthor (whose family relationship with Lex is unknown) built homes for the unfortunate, paid off student loans, created thousands of jobs, helped schools, donated to queer causes, and even planted hundreds of trees in the city. It was great. Kon was able to help out both inside and outside of the uniform.

So what if he used the money to sponsor Cissie's projects? Give Greta a comfortable life? Put Anita's parents in a good boarding school so that her friend could study without worries? So what if he paid for her and Greta's college? Who cares if he put Bart to work in the company's engineering department? (Like, the world thinks the Luthor Corp engineer is a genius, thank goodness they've never seen Bart work, or they'd think he's crazy) So what if Cassie Sandsmark gets hired as a lawyer for one of the biggest companies in the world right out of college?

So Kon finally has a name, he confesses his love to Tim, they date for months, Tim doesn't even notice his days in Kon's apartment getting longer, his clothes ending up in his boyfriend's wardrobe, he doesn't realize that by the end of their first year of dating, he's practically living in Kon's penthouse.

(It takes almost two years of hard work from all of them, Tim moves out of Gotham, finds himself working alongside Bart, before he realizes it he's already heading up the engineering department with his friend, he works reasonable hours, takes photography courses, helps the police as the only vigilante in Metropolis, the whole YJ moves into their neighborhood, it's perfect.)

(Clark was so happy, with YJ in town he could shorten his time as Superman and finally have some peace, of course he miscalculated this, in fact the need for Superman decreased with more heroes in town, but Rao knows that Clark's headaches only increased with the children running around town, he stopped trying to talk sense into them after seeing Red Robin hang Impulse upside down from a rooftop after the speedster ate his slice of cake, at least Jon was in the care of the best babysitters in town whether as a hero or civilian.)

Kon discovered himself, he was good at doing business, a shark like Lex was disguised by the Kents' easy charm, he smiled at each older executive already thinking "how am I going to use this one for my purposes?" He could come up with Lex's most crazy ideas to run the company, without violating any human rights in the process of making more money.

(Lex couldn't even get angry, because now the Luthor name was associated with Conner not him, the company was something to be remembered for the good things the boy was doing, not for the crazy things he did. His legacy would live on, his creation would guide Metropolis when he was gone.)

He almost begged, desperation evident in his eyes. The pressure from the company directors bore down on him, forcing him into a situation he'd rather avoid.

"Hello, Ms. Nam," Seungkwan's voice echoed down the line, "there's someone looking for Ms. Ji from SVT Corporation... His name is Choi Seungcheol..."

A tense pause hung in the air as Ms. Nam, whom Seungcheol assumed to be Ms. Ji's secretary or assistant, exchanged words with Seungkwan. Seungcheol held his breath, silently praying that they'd grant him the chance to meet Ms. Ji.

"Mr. Choi, are you the representative for Universe Factory Studio?" The question was met with an immediate, eager nod from Seungcheol.

Seungkwan concluded the call, his expression softening with a hint of sympathy. "Mr. Choi, please wait in our lounge. Ms. Ji's representative will be with you shortly."

Seungcheol suppressed a victorious shout, maintaining his composure as he politely excused himself and made his way to the designated waiting area.

"Mr. Choi?" A woman approached, her demeanor professional yet warm. "I'm Nam Y/n, Ms. Ji's personal assistant. I'm truly sorry for the confusion earlier, but I believe there's been a miscommunication."

Seungcheol's heart sank further as her words unfurled. "Ms. Ji is in a meeting with a client from Japan, and she can't leave it. I had already informed Mr. Kim that the meeting was scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm afraid you won't be able to meet Ms. Ji today."

Seungcheol's frustration boiled beneath the surface, a muffled curse escaping his lips. Kim Mingyu, that idiot.

“Another wipeout walloped Wall Street Friday,” Stan Choe of the Associated Press wrote today. The S&P 500 had one of its worst days in two years, dropping 2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 715 points, losing 1.7% of its value. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.7%. On Tuesday, news dropped that the administration’s blanket firings and wildly shifting tariff policies have dropped consumer confidence to a low it has not hit since January 2021. Today’s stock market tumble started after the Commerce Department released data showing that consumer prices are rising faster than economists expected.

AIG chief international economist James Knightley said: “We are moving in the wrong direction and the concern is that tariffs threaten higher prices, which means the inflation prints are going to remain hot.” Business leaders like lower interest rates, which reduce borrowing costs and make it cheaper to finance business initiatives, but with rising inflation, the Federal Reserve will be less likely to cut interest rates.

Makena Kelly of Wired reported today that billionaire Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) is planning to move the computer system of the Social Security Administration (SSA) off the old programming language it uses, COBOL, to a new system. In 2017, the SSA estimated that such a migration would take about five years. DOGE is planning for the migration to take just a few months, using artificial intelligence to complete the change.

Experts have expressed concern. Dan Hon, who runs a technology strategy company that helps the government modernize its services, told Kelly: “If you weren’t worried about a whole bunch of people not getting benefits or getting the wrong benefits, or getting the wrong entitlements, or having to wait ages, then sure go ahead.” More than 65 million Americans currently receive Social Security benefits. Today Representative Don Beyer (D-VA) recorded himself calling the SSA and being told by a recording that the wait times were more than two hours and that he should call back. And then the system hung up on him.

Musk told the Fox News Channel today that he plans to step down from DOGE in May, apparently at the end of the 130-day cap for the “special government employee” designation that enables him to avoid financial disclosures. In February, White House staffers suggested Musk would stay despite the limit.

Today the State Department told Congress it is shutting down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) altogether by July 1. Whatever agency functions the administration approves will move into the State Department. Founded by President John F. Kennedy and enjoying bipartisan support, USAID administers programs for global health, disaster relief, long-term economic development, education, environmental protection, and democracy. It is widely perceived to be a key element of U.S. “soft power.”

USAID was created by Congress, and its funds are appropriated by Congress. Congress and the courts have established that the executive branch—the branch of government overseen by the president—cannot kill an agency Congress has created and cannot withhold appropriations Congress has made. The authors of Project 2025 want to challenge that principle and consolidate government power in the hands of the president. It appears they have chosen USAID as the test case.

As Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shatters science and health agencies, the nation’s top vaccine regulator, Dr. Peter Marks, submitted his resignation today after being given the choice to resign or be fired. Dan Diamond of the Washington Post noted that Marks has been at the Food and Drug Administration since 2012 and has been at the head of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research since 2016.

In his resignation letter, Diamond says, Marks expressed his deep concern over the ongoing measles outbreak in the Southwest—now more than 450 cases—and warned that the outbreak “reminds us of what happens when confidence in well-established science underlying public health and well-being is undermined.” Marks said that although he was willing to work with Kennedy on his plan to review vaccine safety, “it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”

On Tuesday, news broke that Kennedy has tapped anti-vaccine activist David Geier to lead a study looking to link autism to vaccines, although that alleged link has been heavily studied and thoroughly debunked. Infectious disease journalist Helen Branswell notes that Geier does not have a medical degree and was disciplined in Maryland for practicing medicine without a license.

British investigative journalist Brian Deer, who has written about the hoax that vaccines cause autism, told Branswell: “If you want an independent source,… [you] wouldn’t go to somebody with no qualifications and a long track record of impropriety and incompetence.” But, he said, “[i]f you wanted to get in anybody off the street who would come up with the result that Kennedy would like to see, this would be your man.”

Tara Copp of the Associated Press reported today that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has done some targeted staffing, too. His younger brother Phil Hegseth is traveling to the Indo-Pacific with the secretary in his role at the Pentagon as a liaison and senior advisor to the Department of Homeland Security. Hegseth also employed his brother when he ran the nonprofit Concerned Veterans for America, where the younger Hegseth’s salary was $108,000 for his media work. Copp notes that a 1967 law “prohibits government officials from hiring, promoting or recommending relatives to any civilian position over which they exercise control.”

Hegseth and his colleagues are still in the hot seat for uploading the military’s attack plans against the Houthis in Yemen to Signal, an unsecure commercially available messaging app. Yesterday, Nancy A. Youssef, Alexander Ward, and Michael R. Gordon of the Wall Street Journal reported that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz identified a Houthi missile expert whose identity Israel had provided from a human source in Yemen, angering Israeli officials.

When she looked at the skinny, nourishment-deprived recruit aka her boss, she saw he was already busy slurping his yakisoba with mayonnaise.

"Erm.... Ego-san... The guys at Building 5 are requesting for conditioner again," Anri said.

But Ego only waved his hand, which was holding a pair of chopsticks. He could not be bothered, not when he was enjoying his breakfast. Anri became livid, but kept her cool. He suddenly missed the bathtub in the bathroom of his room at home. As a rich kid, he luxuriously would settle at the bath tub with his phone and drinks while thinking about his many dates the weekend before.

As no one was inside the bathroom, and the hallway was long (to accommodate many bathers), he thought it might do him good to make the most of his time at Blue Lock. Besides, he was still dry, so might as well fool around in the bathroom for a bit.

He made the bathroom hall his fashion runway.

Next, he gathered shampoo into a lather and put on some helping on his hair. Again, like with the body wash, he concocted some commercial taglines again, with him as a shampoo commercial model.

Finally, when he went to the conditioner, he thought that he could probably empty the contents of the dispenser tonight. After all, with an osha long hair, he needed his hair to be very nourished and nice, so that when he would jump in the soccer field to "kick" the ball with his chest, his lustrous hair would flip so nicely on air. He sat comfortably on the chair facing the screens when he went inside the monitor room. As he started to take off the towel from his hair and started blow-drying, he idly watched the next opponent's footages from the other day. They would be having a match the next day, and he was multi-tasking. He needed to be in best condition to tackle his team's next opponents. As he watched each player one by one, he made some mental notes on what he would do if he were to be marked one-on-one by any of the men in the field.

"Oh well, whatever I do, I will always do it the osha way, and my opponent will look like a peasant next to me," he thought as he laughed impishly in osha style. "I'll finish this and deal with the conditioner later."

In the Team V bathroom, Reo, Nagi, and Zantetsu were took a bath for the night.

"Reo, can I just wash my body, dry it, wear my sleep clothes, and go to sleep?" Nagi drawled in his usual sleepy voice.

"Dame," Reo admonished him playfully. "I don't want you smelling sweaty at bedtime. You will look dirty too."

"Why are you babying him?" Zantetsu told Reo. "He's a grown-up teenage boy, for crying out loud."

"But I want to take care of him, you see?"

"Is he your master?" Zantetsu asked the purple-haired guy.

"Oh yes, he is, and he is also my treasure," Reo said proudly, heart growing ever fonder for the taller white-haired boy.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, Born-With-The-Golden-Spoon," Zantetsu said as he started shampooing his hair. "You probably have a household help cleaning your room, and here you are, head over heels to be of service for Nagi."

"Reo, since you are rich, can we go to a hair salon next time too?" Nagi asked.

"Oh sure! I would love to take you there!" Reo said as he pumped some conditioner in his palm. He had Nagi bow and settle his head on the wall so he could reach up to the taller boy's head to give his friend's hair some loving conditioning.

"Do rich kids always have good hair too?"

"What do you mean?" Reo asked in surprise. "Have you seen all our other classmates? They are rich too. Of course, they will have pretty hair."

"I am not rich," Nagi said, though Reo would have to disagree. Kids enrolled in their prep school are affluent to some extent. It's just Reo who was of another level.

Soon, Nagi was snoring while leaning his head on the bathroom wall. Reo's fingers on his hair was making him feel so good. Midorikawa took his place beside Reo and started rinsing. He was hoping that there would still be bathing supplies that he could use tonight. Otherwise, he would have to ask for more supplies like what he did for two nights already.

Nagi and Reo finished bathing and headed to the locker room to change for the night. Unfortunately for Midorikawa, by the time he pumped some shampoo on his palm, the dispenser was empty. He took the empty container and threw it on the floor in anger.

"Nandato?!?" he screamed angrily. He would probably just use the body wash to shampoo his hair for the meantime.

While changing, Nagi and Reo decided to watch some footages of the next match that they would be having. Reo decided to bring along the hair dryer so he could dry his hair and Nagi's too, though he knew Nagi was beyond hope when it came to ordinary diligence.

Inside the monitor room, the two sat together in silence. To Reo, it felt like a movie date sans the snacks. He dried his hair first while Nagi attentively watched the movements of the people on screen. After his hair dried, he offered to dry Nagi's hair.

"Like to lie on my lap?"

Nagi obliged without answering.

"Don't you sleep on me, Nagi," Reo told him. "We will still be discussing the footage and strategies."

"Haiiii," Nagi drawled before yawning.

Reo's fingers on his scalp felt good, Nagi thought as he closed his eyes. The warm air from the blow-dryer was also an incentive for sleeping. He did not bother to care about the footage on screen anymore. He was already too sleepy to even bathe, but he only relented to come with Reo because it's Reo asking him to. Though he wanted everyone at Blue Lock to refer to him by his first name rather than be associated with his family name (because everyone at Blue Lock knew who his family was), Reo still knew he always had to look good. He knew it was his responsibility to be so. So he knew what needed to be done. As for Nagi, Reo was willing to spend that much fortune too if it meant making Nagi look good. "Yes, why?" Kunigami asked nonchalantly.

Bachira smiled, "Can we all try to take a bath as a team too?"

"It's too crowded," Chigiri complained. "I know you guys make a fuss about me and my hair care. It's only this hero here who is patient with me."

"Can you put on some damn clothes before you go to the dorm?" Kunigami asked.

"But I like it this way," Bachira said before going away happily.

“Another wipeout walloped Wall Street Friday,” Stan Choe of the Associated Press wrote today. The S&P 500 had one of its worst days in two years, dropping 2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 715 points, losing 1.7% of its value. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.7%. On Tuesday, news dropped that the administration’s blanket firings and wildly shifting tariff policies have dropped consumer confidence to a low it has not hit since January 2021. Today’s stock market tumble started after the Commerce Department released data showing that consumer prices are rising faster than economists expected.

AIG chief international economist James Knightley said: “We are moving in the wrong direction and the concern is that tariffs threaten higher prices, which means the inflation prints are going to remain hot.” Business leaders like lower interest rates, which reduce borrowing costs and make it cheaper to finance business initiatives, but with rising inflation, the Federal Reserve will be less likely to cut interest rates.

Makena Kelly of Wired reported today that billionaire Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) is planning to move the computer system of the Social Security Administration (SSA) off the old programming language it uses, COBOL, to a new system. In 2017, the SSA estimated that such a migration would take about five years. DOGE is planning for the migration to take just a few months, using artificial intelligence to complete the change.

Experts have expressed concern. Dan Hon, who runs a technology strategy company that helps the government modernize its services, told Kelly: “If you weren’t worried about a whole bunch of people not getting benefits or getting the wrong benefits, or getting the wrong entitlements, or having to wait ages, then sure go ahead.” More than 65 million Americans currently receive Social Security benefits. Today Representative Don Beyer (D-VA) recorded himself calling the SSA and being told by a recording that the wait times were more than two hours and that he should call back. And then the system hung up on him.

Musk told the Fox News Channel today that he plans to step down from DOGE in May, apparently at the end of the 130-day cap for the “special government employee” designation that enables him to avoid financial disclosures. In February, White House staffers suggested Musk would stay despite the limit.

Today the State Department told Congress it is shutting down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) altogether by July 1. Whatever agency functions the administration approves will move into the State Department. Founded by President John F. Kennedy and enjoying bipartisan support, USAID administers programs for global health, disaster relief, long-term economic development, education, environmental protection, and democracy. It is widely perceived to be a key element of U.S. “soft power.”

USAID was created by Congress, and its funds are appropriated by Congress. Congress and the courts have established that the executive branch—the branch of government overseen by the president—cannot kill an agency Congress has created and cannot withhold appropriations Congress has made. The authors of Project 2025 want to challenge that principle and consolidate government power in the hands of the president. It appears they have chosen USAID as the test case.

As Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shatters science and health agencies, the nation’s top vaccine regulator, Dr. Peter Marks, submitted his resignation today after being given the choice to resign or be fired. Dan Diamond of the Washington Post noted that Marks has been at the Food and Drug Administration since 2012 and has been at the head of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research since 2016.

In his resignation letter, Diamond says, Marks expressed his deep concern over the ongoing measles outbreak in the Southwest—now more than 450 cases—and warned that the outbreak “reminds us of what happens when confidence in well-established science underlying public health and well-being is undermined.” Marks said that although he was willing to work with Kennedy on his plan to review vaccine safety, “it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”

On Tuesday, news broke that Kennedy has tapped anti-vaccine activist David Geier to lead a study looking to link autism to vaccines, although that alleged link has been heavily studied and thoroughly debunked. Infectious disease journalist Helen Branswell notes that Geier does not have a medical degree and was disciplined in Maryland for practicing medicine without a license.

British investigative journalist Brian Deer, who has written about the hoax that vaccines cause autism, told Branswell: “If you want an independent source,… [you] wouldn’t go to somebody with no qualifications and a long track record of impropriety and incompetence.” But, he said, “[i]f you wanted to get in anybody off the street who would come up with the result that Kennedy would like to see, this would be your man.”

Tara Copp of the Associated Press reported today that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has done some targeted staffing, too. His younger brother Phil Hegseth is traveling to the Indo-Pacific with the secretary in his role at the Pentagon as a liaison and senior advisor to the Department of Homeland Security. Hegseth also employed his brother when he ran the nonprofit Concerned Veterans for America, where the younger Hegseth’s salary was $108,000 for his media work. Copp notes that a 1967 law “prohibits government officials from hiring, promoting or recommending relatives to any civilian position over which they exercise control.”

Hegseth and his colleagues are still in the hot seat for uploading the military’s attack plans against the Houthis in Yemen to Signal, an unsecure commercially available messaging app. Yesterday, Nancy A. Youssef, Alexander Ward, and Michael R. Gordon of the Wall Street Journal reported that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz identified a Houthi missile expert whose identity Israel had provided from a human source in Yemen, angering Israeli officials.

Americans, especially those with ties to the military, aren’t happy either. Military, the leading news website for service members, veterans, and their families, titled a story about the scandal “‘Different spanks for different ranks’: Hegseth’s Signal scandal would put regular troops in the brig.” Helene Cooper and Eric Schmitt of the New York Times reported that the story had “angered and bewildered” fighter pilots, who say “they can no longer be certain that the Pentagon is focused on their safety when they strap into cockpits.”

At a raucous town hall held today by Republican representative Victoria Spartz (R-IN), the crowd booed Spartz loudly when she said she would not call for the resignations of Waltz, Hegseth, and the rest of the people on the group chat.

All the mayhem created by the administration has created enough backlash that the White House appears concerned about upcoming special elections on April 1. One is for the seat in Florida’s District 6 that Waltz vacated when he became national security advisor. In 2024, Trump won that district by 30 points, and Republicans considered their candidate, state senator Randy Fine, whom Trump has strongly endorsed, to be such a shoo-in that he barely campaigned. His website features pictures of him with Trump but has only bullet points to explain his stand on issues.

Democrat Josh Weil, a middle-school math teacher who has outraised Fine by almost 10 to one, is polling within the margin of error for a victory in a contest where even a 10- to 15-point loss would show a dramatic collapse in Republican support. Weil has tied Fine to Musk’s unpopular DOGE and to the president, as well as to cuts to Social Security and Medicaid.

Trump is now personally campaigning for Fine and for the Republican candidate to fill the seat vacated by former representative Matt Gaetz in Florida District 1. There, Democratic candidate Gay Valimont is running against Republican Jimmy Patronis in a district that elected Trump with about 68% of the vote. Like Fine, Patronis is strongly backed by Trump and wants more cuts to the federal government; Gay is a former state leader for Moms Demand Action and focuses on healthcare and veterans’ services. She has criticized DOGE’s cuts to VA hospitals. Like Weil, she has significantly outraised her opponent.

Republicans are concerned enough about holding the seats that billionaire Elon Musk, who poured more than $291 million into the 2024 election to help Republicans, has begun to contribute to Republicans in Florida. On Tuesday he spent more than $10,000 apiece for texting services for the Florida candidates.

Musk has contributed far more than that—more than $20 million—to the April 1 election for a ten-year seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Trump loyalist Brad Schimel is running against circuit court judge Susan Crawford in a contest that has national significance. Wisconsin is evenly split between the parties, but when Republicans control the legislature and the supreme court, they suppress voting and heavily gerrymander the state in their favor. When liberals hold the majority on the court, they ease election rules and uphold fair maps. Currently, the state gerrymander gives Republicans 75% of the state’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives although voting in 2024 was virtually dead even. The makeup of the court could well determine the congressional districts of Wisconsin through 2041, through the redistricting that will take place after the 2030 census.

Musk has told voters that if Crawford wins, “then the Democrats will attempt to redraw the districts and cause Wisconsin to lose two Republican seats.” Not only has Musk said he is going to Wisconsin to speak before the election, but also he is handing out checks to voters who sign a petition against “activist judges,” a suggestion that it would not be fair to unskew the Republican gerrymander. Last night, Musk advertised a contest that would award two voters a million dollars each, with the condition that the winners had to have already voted.

This morning, Wisconsin Democrats issued a press release noting that Musk had “committed a blatant felony,” directly violating the Wisconsin law that prohibits offering anyone anything worth more than $1 to get them to “vote or refrain from voting.” Wisconsin Democratic Party chair Ben Wikler said that if Schimel “does not immediately call on Musk to end this criminal activity, we can only assume he is complicit.”

Musk deleted the tweet and then, eliminating the language that said people had to have voted, posted that he would give the checks to spokespeople for his petition. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul sued to stop Musk “from any further promotion of the million-dollar gifts” and “from making any payments to Wisconsin electors to vote.” “The Wisconsin Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that elections in Wisconsin are safe, secure, free, and fair,” Kaul said in a statement. “We are aware of the offer recently posted by Elon Musk to award a million dollars to two people at an event in Wisconsin this weekend. Based on our understanding of applicable Wisconsin law, we intend to take legal action today to seek a court order to stop this from happening.”

MeidasTouch reposted Musk’s offer to “personally hand over two checks for a million dollars each in appreciation for you taking the time to vote” and noted: “No matter what side of the aisle you are on, you should be appalled that a billionaire thinks he has the right to buy elections like this.” Former chair of the Ohio Democratic Party David Pepper posted: “Have some pride, America. We are so much better than this guy thinks we are.”

SpaceTime -- A brief history

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. Gary’s radio career stretches back some 34 years including 26 at the ABC. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. He was part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and became one of its first on air presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.  The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually.  However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage.  Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently.  StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016.  Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. The show is published three times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and available from the United States National Science Foundation on Science Zone Radio, and through both i-heart Radio and Tune-In Radio.

At the end of the campaign, we managed to stop a plan by the Pantheon, but there are still members of them infiltrated within the CIA. With that, Livingstone calls on our team to be part of a secret team in an attempt to eliminate the remaining members of the Pantheon. Some of these events will take place in Avalon, since several operations are happening at the same time and there are strong indications that the Pantheon is behind these operations. In addition, we also see Jackson Caine in Livingstone's office messing with his computer, indicating that he is planning something without him knowing.

In this, two factions are divided in Avalon, the rogue black ops and the crimson one, the first being a team formed by former CIA agents who were recruited by Livingstone and the second the team formed by the Pantheon infiltrators within the CIA. Since the RBO is a clandestine team, all of their weapons and financing are done illegally, making them seen as criminals by the rest of the CIA.

But does anyone suspect anything? No, since the Pantheon infiltrators manipulated the other members into thinking they are criminals, and Livingstone couldn't help them directly because he would be putting a target on his own back.Now, unlike them, the CO is a team formed to hunt and kill the RBO, being financed by the CIA and treated as if they were heroes of the country. Caine and some members are part of the Pantheon, but others are just agents who have no idea of the truth.

Will I talk about the operators? Not yet, since it is possible that new operators will arrive or have their lore changed, I prefer to wait until the last season is released to see their lore complete than to see their lore being changed all the time. And yes, that was a dig at Gaz.

Now about the maps, each one represents a conflict that happened between the factions, and also has dates so you can know the timeline. By the way, I'll have to disregard Gala because it's a map that causes a plot hole in the campaign. The most accepted theory is that Treyarch got the dates wrong, but don't worry because it's the one with the least important story.

04/03/91: The Payback map takes place, where the CO ends up discovering the RBO base and tries to destroy the place, after which the RBO ends up escaping.

06/03/91・07/03/91: The maps that are part of Vorkuta take place, but this time there are more containers of that gas that Barkov uses in MW1, indicating that the CIA was searching for something in Vorkuta.

10/03/91: The Babylon and Vault maps take place, being just conflicts without much story.

03/18/91: Scud happens at the same time as Subsonic, both maps take place in Iraq, showing that the RBO was in Iraq for a while while fleeing the CO.

04/20/91: The Lowtown map happens, this is the moment when both factions arrive in Avalon and establish their bases.

05/14/91: The Derelict map happens, where a small conflict happens between the factions because both wanted to reach Liberty Falls, that's why the Liberty Falls map happens on 05/15. Now, why did Pantheon want to reach Liberty Falls? I don't know, either they'll explain this in the next seasons or it was just a crossover with zombies.

On 06/08/91 the Red Card map takes place, on 06/30 the Stakeout map takes place, on 08/23 the Skyline map takes place and on 09/10 the Protocol map takes place. All of these maps take place in Avalon and there are several conflicts that occur between the factions. But among them, Protocol is the most interesting since in it we invade an Advanced Technology and Applications base, in addition there is an intel that says that before ATAA, this base belonged to the Phoenix project, a reference to the Vanguard campaign.

But what about Nuketown and the other maps? To be honest, Nuketown has always been a meme map, so I don't think it will be important to mention it. But for those who want a summary, it is just a fake city that was built to be destroyed, it is impossible for there to be a Nuketown in the COD multiverse that will not be destroyed.

One last warning: the posts explaining the story of Liberty Falls and Terminus will take a while because my computer died after I downloaded COD 1 DLC, they may already be out of date when I post, but I'll try to fix my computer as soon as possible to post, bye.

Twenty-five years ago today, Americans—along with the rest of the world—woke up to a new century date…and to the discovery that the years of work computer programmers had put in to stop what was known as the Y2K bug from crashing airplanes, shutting down hospitals, and making payments systems inoperable had worked.

When programmers began their work with the first wave of commercial computers in the 1960s, computer memory was expensive, so they used a two-digit format for dates, using just the years in the century, rather than using the four digits that would be necessary otherwise—78, for example, rather than 1978. This worked fine until the century changed.

As the turn of the twenty-first century approached, computer engineers realized that computers might interpret 00 as 1900 rather than 2000 or fail to recognize it at all, causing programs that, by then, handled routine maintenance, safety checks, transportation, finance, and so on, to fail. According to scholar Olivia Bosch, governments recognized that government services, as well as security and the law, could be disrupted by the glitch. They knew that the public must have confidence that world systems would survive, and the United States and the United Kingdom, where at the time computers were more widespread than they were elsewhere, emphasized transparency about how governments, companies, and programmers were handling the problem. They backed the World Bank and the United Nations in their work to help developing countries fix their own Y2K issues.

Meanwhile, people who were already worried about the coming of a new century began to fear that the end of the world was coming. In late 1996, evangelical Christian believers saw the Virgin Mary in the windows of an office building near Clearwater, Florida, and some thought the image was a sign of the end times. Leaders fed that fear, some appearing to hope that the secular government they hated would fall, some appreciating the profit to be made from their warnings. Popular televangelist Pat Robertson ran headlines like “The Year 2000—A Date with Disaster.”

Fears reached far beyond the evangelical community. Newspaper tabloids ran headlines that convinced some worried people to start stockpiling food and preparing for societal collapse: “JANUARY 1, 2000: THE DAY THE EARTH WILL STAND STILL!” one tabloid read. “ALL BANKS WILL FAIL. FOOD SUPPLIES WILL BE DEPLETED! ELECTRICITY WILL BE CUT OFF! THE STOCK MARKET WILL CRASH! VEHICLES USING COMPUTER CHIPS WILL STOP DEAD! TELEPHONES WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION! DOMINO EFFECT WILL CAUSE A WORLDWIDE DEPRESSION!”

In fact, the fix turned out to be simple—programmers developed updated systems that recognized a four-digit date—but implementing it meant that hardware and software had to be adjusted to become Y2K compliant, and they had to be ready by midnight on December 31, 1999. Technology teams worked for years, racing to meet the deadline at a cost that researchers estimate to have been $300–$600 billion. The head of the Federal Aviation Administration at the time, Jane Garvey, told NPR in 1998 that the air traffic control system had twenty-three million lines of code that had to be fixed.

President Bill Clinton’s 1999 budget had described fixing the Y2K bug as “the single largest technology management challenge in history,” but on December 14 of that year, President Bill Clinton announced that according to the Office of Management and Budget, 99.9% of the government's mission-critical computer systems were ready for 2000. In May 1997, only 21% had been ready. “[W]e have done our job, we have met the deadline, and we have done it well below cost projections,” Clinton said.

Indeed, the fix worked. Despite the dark warnings, the programmers had done their job, and the clocks changed with little disruption. “2000,” the Wilmington, Delaware, News Journal’s headline read. “World rejoices; Y2K bug is quiet.”

Crises get a lot of attention, but the quiet work of fixing them gets less. And if that work ends the crisis that got all the attention, the success itself makes people think there was never a crisis to begin with. In the aftermath of the Y2K problem, people began to treat it as a joke, but as technology forecaster Paul Saffo emphasized, “The Y2K crisis didn’t happen precisely because people started preparing for it over a decade in advance. And the general public who was busy stocking up on supplies and stuff just didn’t have a sense that the programmers were on the job.”
