wip... thinking about him forever. a lot of these are based on karb's concept art of his other emotions heehee. thoughts and design ideas below the cut :)
none of these rules are particularly solid or concrete (his face is abstracted, after all) but i wanted to add some consistency to my interpretation :) -the more symmetrical his face, the more negative the emotion may be. Misery is a special case. -an eye or eye symbol is present in every face. violent has an eye-like mark in the middle of the tongue, resigned... well any of those could be eyes lol -the material of his face is also abstract and not any particular viscosity or state of matter. a little on the fence about the glitch effect on his embarrassed face. -fun fact: his professional face's eye is meant to be a target or the sights of a gun :) i want to do more... but i should also actually draw the rest of his body before i do that lol.

Their irises flared with pops of neons, pinks and yellows and greens as their eyes lit up and their mouth managed to smile something along the lines of normal. They were giggling like a little kid, little pops of it under their breath. They would be broiling with excitement if Mr. Az wasn’t acting as a sort of calming force.
Animals can. be poisonous?!
MY FRIEND. ARE YOU ALRIGHT?
They perceived the fact that something clean and fresh had entered their cubbyhole. Something on old, old parchment. Something in that swoopy handwriting like no other they’d seen, something Mr. P had been teaching them to read since they were old enough to focus on it.
They paused their music, paused their game (and right before they were about to challenge Sabrina again?), and brought the clean, clean parchment, a thing that had been created before their manifestation, toward them via amorphous sludge picking it up in a sort of hand. They read the message.
They knew that, somehow, Mr. Az could hear them when they spoke to his parchment. They’d never asked why - they figured it had something to do with the nature of him as a being, or perhaps he was just cool like that.
I’mmm hrgh fi- ne. Nothing to wor- worryyy pop pop pop about.
They folded the parchment up, slipped it inside one of their various pockets, with all the rest of the letters they’d ever been sent, turned their music back on, and returned to their game. Time to take down Sabrina - for the hundredth time.

Demon slayer-demon semen HC plus why they horny-with some science
Yes I am going there because in all my fanction, demons prey on women and make babies. So demon reproduction head canons with a bit of science:
Higher Viscosity & Volume
Thicker and more gelatinous than human semen.
Likely due to elevated protein content or regenerative enzymes.
Greater volume per ejaculation due to enhanced demon stamina and reproductive intent.
Delayed Drainage
Remains in the vaginal canal longer than human semen as due its viscosity is slower to drain (or the ass if it went in there).
Leads to ongoing physical discomfort or the sensation of "leakage" over a day or so.
May be biologically engineered to maximize chances of impregnation by remaining near the cervix longer-even though they often can't reproduce-but evolution trying to do something.
Enhanced Sperm Motility & Regeneration Speed
Sperm cells regenerate rapidly or resist degradation.
Outpaces human ovum response time, potentially leading to abnormal pregnancies or miscarriage.
Conflicts between rapid demon cellular activity and slower human reproductive cycles may explain fetal degeneration or stillbirths.
Hybridization Instability
Genetic incompatibility often leads to failed pregnancies.
Human ova cannot always withstand or match the regenerative drive of demon sperm.
Successful births (human or demon) are rare and usually the result of ideal genetic compatibility.
Potential for Infection or Mutation
Demon fluids may have mutagenic properties.
Some failed pregnancies result in deformed or monstrous offspring (“sakaiji” or “unbabies” in my Handmaiden Tale AU) due to aggressive cell mutation
Sperm are Detached from the Demon's Central Regenerative Core
Demon regeneration stems from a core cellular network tied to Muzan’s blood and the demon’s internal system.
Sperm, once ejaculated, are cut off from the regenerative "field" that sustains full demon cells.
Without that connection, they retain only a short autonomous lifespan — slightly longer than human sperm (perhaps 7–10 days in utero) but still finite.
Demon sperm are biologically foreign, containing demonic proteins and regenerative enzymes.
The human uterus detects them as a threat and launches a localized immune response, releasing macrophages and cytokines to break them down.
This “silent immune war” may delay conception or kill off sperm prematurely unless the woman has:
A weakened immune system, or
Genetic compatibility with demon cells.
Alright the science behind why the demons are all horny and rapey-despite the socials factors of demon society:
1. Overactive Regenerative Biology = Elevated Hormones
Demon regeneration constantly rebuilds and maintains their bodies at peak physical condition — muscle tone, stamina, and reproductive readiness are always primed.
Their endocrine system (hormone-regulating system) is hyperactive, producing:
Testosterone (or its demon equivalent) at levels far beyond human males.
Adrenaline and dopamine spikes, reinforcing arousal, aggression, and obsession.
Effect: Constant sexual readiness, heightened libido, minimal refractory period.
Predator Psychology: Dominate, Breed, Possess
As apex predators, many demons associate mating with dominance.
Sex/Non-conning is not just physical; it’s a claim of ownership, a display of power.
Their brain chemistry links pleasure with control and possession.
umans naturally decline in fertility — sperm count drops with age.
Demons don’t age, so they never experience fertility decline.
Their bodies are permanently “young adult prime,” meaning:
Constant sperm production
No erectile fatigue
Perpetual sexual appetite
Effect: Near-limitless capacity to have sex and impregnate.
Muzan’s blood (or a derivative in all demons) doesn’t just turn them into fighters — it heightens core instincts.
Feeding. Dominating. Reproducing.
These instincts are heightened further by status and strength — higher-ranked demons have more overwhelming urges due to more demon blood saturation.
Effect: Stronger demons = stronger libido. ( May god help you with a Kizuki).
Psychological Addiction to Sensation
Demons feel pleasure more acutely than humans due to their neural regeneration and enhanced sensory systems.
Sex, touch, taste — all these sensations are sharper.
Many develop fetishes or obsessions due to the addictive strength of pleasure.
This also explains why many demons become possessive lovers. (why I put obsessive behaviours between demons in my fanfictions when they take a fancy to someone).

Quirk: magma
Allows the user to emit lava from their magma-encased hands and control it's period of hardening process, making it as hard as rock, loose as lava, or somewhere in between when shot out. The lava shot out is not the same type spewed from volcanoes but a liquid that matches the user's body temperature (usually) and natural lava's texture. Its viscosity matches normal lava but is still malleable enough to form obstacles and projectiles or puddles and waves that can increase in amounts shot up to 50 gallons and heat up to 500 degrees depending on how much hot food/drinks and rock minerals the user has eaten/drank. There are ways the user can utilize this quirk, such as shooting projectiles, creating walls, and spraying lava into surfaces to form geysers like mini-eruptions, among other things.
There are its weaknesses. If too much cold food or materials are consumed or if the user's body temperature is lower, the user's lava becomes more brittle and less controllable in its hardening process, resulting in brittle magma rocks being shot out instead, which isn't very good for combat. It can't exceed past 500 degrees (which is due to too much hot food being consumed or the body's temperature being higher), otherwise it becomes too hot for the user to handle and less controllable since its viscosity becomes like water instead, which is very hard for the user to manipulate, unlike lava. This means the user is not resistant to his own lava except for their hands.
Can you make a quirk based on Cole’s lava arms from Ninjago?
So I think there is something in this idea, but it needs some revisions. The Quirk as it is right now is pretty broad in the applications. It's nothing too extreme or outside the scope of the concept, it just seems like a for one Quirk to do. The user has all control over this substance odds an extensive amount of applications, but it's also pretty good as a combat power as well. Especially since the temperature can exceed five hundred degree. Like if the lava was more of form over function case, where it has a lot of the traits of lava but none of the more dangerous aspects, that would be fine. I also question some of the downsides. The need for food is fine, but the user not being immune to the lava can't work. That seems like it'd be a horrific downside to have if you went with the full powered version. I think it just needs some readjustment. I would have it so the user has the lava arms and they can only do a handful of applications with it. Either shaping it for stuff or using it in combat. For example, you could have it focus a lot on the combat and the area denial parts of it of the idea. The control of it comes in how well they can shape their attacks, but they can't make walls or anything like that. They you can have the food drawback and some other issue, like being weak to water.

Character concepts for the Mad Scientist/Girl Genius AU I'm working on for AU Roulette 2024
More description and story concept under cut.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng: GIRL GENIUS
a Spark from the city of Paris. While she doesn't have a particularly impressive lineage, her talents are impressive.
Her focus is on textile based inventions, with her breakthrough project having included a small viscose spinning device.
She also builds little clockwork ladybugs.
After she managed to piss off every single noble family in Paris, she essentially went into exile. Since then she's been travelling and doing assorted heroics all over Europa.
She's got her shirt and waistcoat because everybody in GG wears them. No skirt, because it would impractical in her field of work; long jacket tails because a) I like them and b) Ladybug wings :D
She's also supposed to have a Ladybug locket and her little silk gun, but. Forgor
Before she leaves Paris, her outfits are more like Circus Era and Classic Agatha.
Nino Lahiffe: A normal guy with a normal life
No, really.
Well, he used to be, okay?
Former classmate and childhood friend of Marinette's
Marinette, Adrien and him were essentially inseperable after Marinette's breakthrough.
Except no, they weren't, because Adrien is still in Paris while Nino followed Marinette into exile.
People tend to assume that he's either Marinette's minion or her construct or both. She doesn't consider him a minion; and while he's taken his share of damage, he has never died once.
(He is very proud of that.)
The reason why he doesn't break his neck once a week is that Marinette is very good at her job. His outer shirt with the hood works as like, exoskeleton, hardhat and airbag in one.
His outfit and general style are inspired by Lars, specifically here.
Alya, Last Princess of the Lost City of Cesaire
what it says on the tin.
Descended from one of the last God-Queens
in the face of all that, only a rather minor spark.
Also, her science kind of... looks like magic to most europeans.
and anyway she doesn't want to be a scientist!!! she wants to be a warrior
her mother agreed that she could go on a trip and just come home and learn princessing once she's seen everything she wanted to see
THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO SEE
joined the Miracle Squad about a year ago, because a) they're fun and b) Nino is very cute even if he can't flirt to save his life (and it has come up)
Based on both Zeetha (who gave her the bare biceps) and Violetta (who gave her the boots), but the outfit really is mostly Rena Rouge
Adrien Agreste, son of the famous Spark and heir to the House de Vanily
???
went to school with Marinette and Nino for a while
in recent years, has only been seen in public during Important Events
perfect dutiful son
like, he does everything his father tells him to!
definitely human though.
100% perfectly completely human
Marinette definitely never had to resurrect him either
Never seen in anything less than a fully buttoned shirt, long sleeves, and full slacks.
I have a design for him based on Classic Gil, but this is fully grieving madboy Gil (+ skirt + happiness + catboy :3)
All of these pictures are sketched over the basic character images for ML and I didn't really feel like shading but... maybe one day

Random Grimm OC concepts no body asked for but I did anyway
Flutter Cries- regular sized Butterflies with powder on their wings that induce panic and unrest to help attract more Grimm. Only feeds on corpses
Gnawers- large cat-sized cockroaches with human teeth and needle like legs. Don’t actively wander. If you see one then there’s dozens you don’t.
Vat- it’s like a big DnD slime with a hard core inside . Can change viscosity and acidity. The more it’s like water, the worse the acid. The more solid/elasticity it is, the harder it is to pierce but it’s not acidic
Reaper Sockets- Reapers for short. Skeleton Grimm with tar black bones and a bone white scythe for a right arm. They go for people’s eyes to claim as their own. Cinder’s first creation. Ruby is not a fan.
Essence- They’re just giant spiders. Like…huge. Eight legged freak kinda huge. Love to stalk, lure, and ambush. Consumes the aura in people and turns the body writhing husks similar to Apathy. Tends to store prey and are incredibly fast. Cinder’s second favorite creature. Jaune hates them. Has given my character, Carmine, sever arachnophobia of all spiders.
Tree Carvers: Big ass deer with wicked antlers. They’re just not fun. Regular deer aren’t fun. This one means to run into things. Very territorial.

Fragility crossover mediated by covalent-like electronic interactions in metallic liquids
In the field of glass and liquid sciences, the so-called fragility is a key concept that characterizes how rapidly the liquid dynamics showdown on lowering the temperature. However, a long-standing challenge is that the occurrence of crystallization hinders the evaluation of fragility in glass-forming materials. A team of researchers has pushed the boundaries of traditional techniques and successfully gathered crossover data on fragility for various alloy families. They have proposed the underlying origins of fragility in metallic glass (MG) from an electronic structure standpoint and provided insights for material design. Typically, the fragility of liquids is determined by measuring the viscosity of the liquid at different temperatures. However, a combination of techniques is often necessary to cover the entire viscosity range. Alternatively, the fragility can also be estimated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) from its glassy state.

Hi ! Can I ask a question about your OC Sasha ? What does she do in her life ? Does she have powers like Aaron and Elliot ? I would like to see more about her, she seems very interesting
I had talked a bit about her a bit but it was a while ago. So it's understandable that you don't want to scroll through like a hundred different posts so let me make it simple. First a bit of backstory.
So, I don't know if you've read this or not, but if you haven't, you probably should. So, to make it simple there is a mysterious group that is after Elliot. This group is called Nameless, at least this is how Sasha calls it. The name is fitting considering that no one seems to have noticed their existence despite them owning trillions of euros worth of equipment and facilities around the world. Aaron, Elliot, and Sasha were all kept prisoners by the mysterious group in the past. Sasha was pretty much raised as a soldier in one of their facility, hence her general lack of remorse and cold attitude. But one day, something snapped inside her, and she escaped. Well, escaped is probably the wrong word, "she rampaged through the facility until no one was left alive to keep her from walking out" would be a more apt description. Then, for the next two years, she went around the world, destroying every site belonging to Nameless she came across. Not only was she destroying sites, but also freeing all those who were trapped in them and trying to gather as much data on Nameless as she could. Despite her general cold attitude, Sasha had set her mind to free all people trapped by Nameless. But, this was more out of hatred for Nameless than compassion.
Sasha herself is very powerful. As said, she was raised like a soldier since childhood so she is an experienced fighter, extremely strong and durable much more than Elliot or Aaron, but still much weaker than Dr.Quartero. What allowed her to get as far as she did was her ability. It could be considered one of if not the strongest abilities in the entire story. Rewriters ink.
Tumblr media
To make it simple, Sasha can secrete a black viscose liquid with a color and texture similar to thick ink from her hands. If something or someone is touched by this liquid, Sasha can pull out a property of said object or person in the form of a small retro disk. For example, if Sasha grabs someone and enough inks touch them, they can be killed instantly by pulling out their consciousness, their heartbeat, or even the cohesion of their atoms. On objects, she can do things like take the friction off of the ground making it so slippery no one can walk on it, she can take out their ability to reflect light, making them invisible. Not only can she pull out properties and make them into discs, but then she can take said discs and put them in anything. For example, she can take the concept of heat out of a campfire, throw the disc containing the property at an enemy and if she hits, well the enemy will absorb the property causing them to spontaneously combust as their body is now as hot as the campfire. She can also use this to steal the ability of people for herself. Overall this ability is extremely powerful because of two things: 1 it's very versatile and can be used in many situations. 2 it can negate the durability of anything and anyone, even if someone is immortal, she can literally pull out the concept of immortality.
The ability does have a few limits but I feel like this is already a lot more info than what you'd expect. If you need precision on anything or if I wasn't clear enough, tell me.

So 2 years ago, I made this old universe called Chlomaia, which was a town made entirely of neon + grayscale colors. I mostly made this as a universe for a one-off character I made called E.D., or Edie.
You can tell I made him after I got into Sparklecare
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made a lot of stuff, so everything I made for Chlomaia will be under the cut:
First thing I made was a list of illnesses!
I made these a few months after I got into Sparklecare, which is probably very obvious because of the nature of the illnesses
Tumblr media
I wanted to make very unique to each other. I wish I had more ideas, but these were the best ideas I had.
Next was a guide of how different substances and materials looked in-universe.
Tumblr media
The ones on the right are emotional tears, which you can see E.D. crying in the first pic! There’s also one with him crying sad tears and a quick mini guide on the viscosity of the two different tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next was the most difficult in my opinion, the alphabet. I was inspired by Poppy O’Possum to make my own alphabet, so I wanted to try my hand at one!
Tumblr media
It didn’t turn out the best, but I still like it.
The last I drew of this was some miscellaneous colored sketches. The hyena was my concept of a scientist in this universe, and I also added a few more examples of citizens of Chlomaia. I also added an identifier between unfiltered and filtered ink. I also added a concept of healing from hypochromia (this was before I learned the “healed colors” in Sparklecare).
Tumblr media
Aaand that’s it! This was a fun project while it lasted, but I decided to scrap it since I didn’t have much of an idea for it and I don’t think I could’ve made any more neon designs without my eyes needing a break lol. I love this but my eyes can only take so much

Life is liquid. Fluidity is its form and function. Mind makes viscose what should remain free-flowing.
Whitecaps roiling above, unstirring placidity below: worlds apparently apart but somehow inseparably the same. Where does division actually lie? What use has the Ocean with a name?
Concepts are a net, ideal for ensnaring the thrashing flashy fish of attention but utterly insufficient to capture the Water of Awareness.

LADY GAGA IN ALAÏA AT UPFRONT SUMMIT
Lady Gaga spoke at the Upfront Summit (basically, the tech world's Oscars) yesterday in Los Angeles. She talkes about her brand Haus Labs, and her "long standing vision for the future and art."
Tumblr media
Lady Gaga wore a total look from the Alaïa Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Her look included a large nude wool coat with contrasting black buttons strategically placed in a V formation ($6,360), and the turtleneck maxi flare dress with sleeveless cut, fitted body, straps across the back and shiny viscose skirt ($3,290 - available in pink and red).
For this collection, creative director Pieter Mulier explored time not as an abstract concept but a material notion – its signs and signifiers, its reflections through fashion. Making time. Seams trace not only the form of the body but the life of these clothes, like timelines charting their evolution and refinement, the process behind their invention.
Buttons are oddly emblematic of time, of process: the ritual of dress, of fastening of oneself into a garment, a time of change and reinvention, a promise of future revelation at their unfastening.
Shop:
Alaïa Large Wool Coat ($6,360.00)
Alaïa Shiny Flared Dress ($3,290.00)
Tumblr media
The Pleaser Xtreme-1020 black faux leather platform booties completed the look.

For alternatives to silk what about the literal millions of tons of discarded clothes and textiles and cloth (a large percentage of which are basically brand new) that are going to rot away and emit pollution unless they are used and recycled properly. What about that. I think it's reasonable to not think that we have to continuously consume and exploit and expand so people have clothes. Because we have the huge piles of the waste from that that are going to turn into rotting shit as proof that that doesn't work. "Humans are part of nature" how do you think silkworms are obtained? Do you think most of silk is produced out in the wild? And what about the energy and resources you need to process and transport it? To keep steady tempuratures for silk prpduction and the actual machinery to process it and transport it? The people who are used to process it and make it into products? Many of whom are not payed enough to live and are forced into the industry? Do you think that most of that silk ends up getting recycled or reused?
So yea I think there are alternatives to new silk and endless production of it and there should be more of them
hiiiiiii so u didnt read my post somehow even thouvh it was one humorous sentence so that’s weird.
anyway since u asked i volunteer at a textile recycling plant. (the reason it exists is because it’s a requirement for companies w textile waste according to new york law. if there is no decent edifice for textile recycling, which in most places there isn’t, then it won’t get recycled. the building of such factories is a legislative issue i’d say)
but mainly umm silk is silk. the substitute for silk is viscose, which is made of wood but massively pollutes the water used to produce it. the substitute for silk is not the “calabasas” graphic print cotton poly elastane tee that someone cheugy wanted to wear for 3 weeks before forgetting about and eventually discarding. also that shirt can’t be recycled. because it has elastane in it. if u think people at large should direct all of their desire for clothing into the products of recycled and reused clothing that had already been thrown away in would genuinely like to ask u how u think that system would look. but only if u have a good answer
ummmm anyway the rest of your response no actually pretty much the whole response is directed at words that i never said. except for “humans are a part of nature,” which was a response to the OP’s idea that the concept of ANIMAL DOMESTICATION was the root of the problems with silk (and by extension wool etc) production. and i think that animal domestication by human beings is a “natural” technology that could and did subsist without destroying the earth and abusing it’s creatures. diocane

What are non-Newtonian substances?
Post #7 on Physics and Astronomy, 17/10/23
Welcome back,
Many of us may have heard of Oobleck. A substance that blew up on creative channels in YouTube, made of two, simple ingredient: cornstarch and water.
My interest in this was piqued while making custard. I always look for shortcuts, so in the midst of mixing up Bird’s Custard, I noticed the [should-be] liquid was proving unusually difficult to mix. Out of curiosity, I gave it one, hard punch. It hurt. Strange, right? It should have just splashed straight out of the bowl, but it acted as solid as your average object.
I randomly asked my science teacher about this on a summer day in year seven (five years ago… isn’t that crazy?) and she returned the phrase, “non-Newtonian fluid.” And it was stuck in my head ever since.
So, what is the definition of non-Newtonian fluid? According to ScienceDirect, a non-Newtonian substance is one that does not adhere to Newton’s law of viscosity. Viscosity is the measure of how thick, or easy to pour, a fluid is; a measure of its internal friction, according to Oxford Languages.
One example that may have gone unnoticed to you, the average Joe, is actually within ketchup bottles. You need to get some ketchup out of the bottle, but it won’t budge, so what do you do? You hit it. Then the ketchup becomes that slight bit more liquidy and falls to the bottom, so you can squeeze it out.
There are four types of non-Newtonian fluids:
Dilatant: This means viscosity increases with increased stress. An example can include Oobleck, like I mentioned before.
Shear thinning: This means viscosity decreases with increased stress. An example can include the ketchup, as before.
Thixotropic: This means viscosity decreases with stress, over time. An example can include honey. Honey softens up the more you stir it. I would say ice-cream, too, but temperature plays its role in that, so that’s not totally correct. But the concept is there.
Rheopectic: This means viscosity increases with stress, over time. An example can include double/whipping cream. The more you beat it, the more solid it becomes, the more it holds its shape. Maybe bread dough, too, since the more you knead it, the tougher it becomes (and with rest, it loosens up).
The easiest way to describe Oobleck, specifically, works is to imagine the particles. When you add water to the cornstarch, the starch doesn’t dissolve. It just remains there in suspension. If you move your finger through the Oobleck slowly, you give the particles within the Oobleck time to move around your finger, so you don’t experience any obstacle. However, if you then try to run your fingers through it quickly, the particles have little to no time to move out of the way, so it feels very solid. That’s what creates the odd feeling when you play with Oobleck.
Try it yourself! Mix together equal parts cornstarch/cornflour and water. I’d recommend doing it a bit slowly since it can be a pain to mix together after a while. But you’ll soon have a very strange but fun-to-play-with substance!

ships .. (legend of zelda) link & (original character) s'avahili dragmire.
content .. in her mourning, s'avahili is visited by an old friend.
word count .. 2,455.
warnings .. i wrote this 3 years ago, then rewrote it in january (?) and haven't looked at it since then. beta'd by grammarly (not premium), so. i think i wrote this when i had gasli go by they/she pronouns and not he/him.
notes .. link and s'avahili's love language being food will never not be my favorite thing to write even if neither of them made it. i also wrote about this before thinking about the rest of venom's plot so ig this was my personal proof of concept + this was supposed to be in an act by itself with the first chapter called the beginning but nvm that ig😋✌🏽
Tumblr media
S'avahili has long since been accustomed to wiping blood off her hands, both literally and metaphorically.
This time, unfortunately, is literal.
It was always literal when the chosen hero reached the end of his journey.
Her brother bled like a pig when Link plunged his sword into the jewel that adorned his forehead every lifetime; he did so even more when Zelda thought it best to pierce an arrow of light through his heart.
Ganondorf was still bleeding, his pig features making themselves present as Malice caused his skin to char and crack into a coal black, his blood instead seeping into the ground as though it were lava. It even had the viscosity.
When S'avahili drops to her knees beside Ganondorf's head and reaches for the hand he held out, she wonders when she became so accustomed to the feeling of blood on her hands and tragedy in her heart.
They'd never caught any semblance of a break in any of their incarnations either.
Ganondorf's hold tightens when she slides hers against his palm. She tries to return the gesture despite feeling weak and faint. When he turns his head against her knee (despite the discomfort) to better meet her eyes, S'avahili finally feels her eyes start to burn and water.
Though his expression was neutral and anger-drowned eyes were beginning to fill with other emotions, S'avahili still felt the need to speak.
"Remember when I died of heartbreak during the Era of Prosperity?" Incidentally, her voice cracks when she speaks, but she can't bring herself to mind when it does. Her other hand lowers to hold itself against his face. "I'm having a very similar feeling to then."
Ganondorf's grip tightens before immediately becoming lax. His strength was greatly diminishing, the master sword draining him of everything he was as the light arrow kept him weak.
She'd use the Triforce of Power to heal him if it weren't for the look Zelda was giving them from over the line of Gerudo warriors.
Rubbing her finger against the back of his hand, S'avahili sniffles again. "I don't think that'll happen again this time." She meant to add that she was still a child, thirteen, but words fail her. "I just.. feel it."
Ganondorf uses the last of his strength to make his other arm cusp the back of her head, letting it fall like deadweight so her face came in contact with the junction between his chin and neck.
A guttural noise makes its way to the ear that was pressed between her head and his throat. S'avahili was able to hear his low groan of comfort as his life finally left him, the noise and vibration slowly fading off into nothing.
She refuses to move until Gasli moves behind her and spreads his wings in front of his body, waiting for her to move. Itha had followed her husband, kneeling beside S'avahili to place a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Your mothers are home preparing the ceremony," they say in a gentle tone. She places a hand on S'avahili's side when she doesn't twitch at their touch. "If we leave now, we'll arrive in the valley before they finish. Caliban had his soldiers bring a carriage large enough to fit the both of you comfortably."
Finally forcing herself off Ganondorf's corpse, S'avahili takes a deep breath as she stands. "Have them bring it here." Her voice was no longer on the verge of sobbing, but instead filled with rocks and gravel.
She takes a moment to wrap her hands around the hilt of the Master Sword and ignores the pain that shoots its way throughout her body. She refuses to place her foot on his body for leverage, instead gathering strength with their Triforce to yank it out in a single, swift, and clean yank.
S'avahili wipes the blade of his blood before dropping it onto Gasli's wings. "Take that to Link, please."
He doesn't say anything, instead doing as requested as he tucks the sword into the leather band that wrapped around his waist. Gerudo warriors switch places with him, S'avahili maneuvering herself to stand at his head.
Gasli was never good during these moments. Itha had always taken the role of the leader for the coming months after the death of Ganondorf.
There was always consistency when it came to the end of the journey; S'avahili's glad she at least had that in her life.
It always went as followed;
First, the death of Malice and, subsequently, her brother. She'd gone through it hundreds of times before and she'd go through it thousands more times due to Ouroboros they were stuck in.
Second, the dispersal of all Hylians in the near vicinity. Everyone said it was for their own safety given there were only two with a Triforce and even they could barely handle the exertion of raw malice Ganondorf's body released upon his death.
Third, all Gerudo, Twili, Sheikah, Goron, Zora, and Rito returned home to mourn their losses and bury their dead before gathering together in the Sand Temple to perform the ceremony for Ganondorf's death; which was currently underway.
When one of the warriors calls her name to break her from her thoughts, she lets out a blank hum of acknowledgment. To be truthful, she almost jumped when one reached out to touch her shoulder when the blank look doesn't leave her eyes.
("Little sister," she had called. Not "Chieftess," "Chief," or "S'ava.")
(S'avahili feels a painful throb in her heart.)
"The carriage," another says between wary breaths, "it's here."
"Lift him," S'avahili directs, already squatting as she slid her hands beneath his head. She bites her tongue to keep herself from adding on "carefully," knowing they'd be so attentive with his body regardless of if she said it.
Mindful they are when they join S'avahili in lifting him. Precise, calculated movements as they place him in a coach, the interior of it surrounded entirely by plush, pillowy walls.
They were quiet as they removed their hands from him and left the carriage. Quiet enough that she could hear Yusef whispering with Sahir about his plans to join him in Kakariko village after Ganondorf's ceremony.
S'avahili presses the jewel on her forehead to his.
Though the weight of the carriage is heavily favoring its weight to the back, it tries to balance itself out when another body joins Yusef in the front.
"Link," Sahir hums with faux pleasance. S'avahili presses her jem against Ganondorf's with more pressure. "What brings you over here? Is your princess not going to chew your head off?"
Though she can't see him, S'avahili can imagine what he was doing as he spoke in a harsh rasp.
A shake of his head as he looks at his princess from over his shoulder. "She'll be fine," he says before biting his lip and adding an airy, "hopefully. Where are you all heading?"
"The Valley." Yusef had answered Link's question this time around, his voice making it sound curt. His eyes were likely on Zelda, locked in a heated, silent battle of their own. "Then home; for all of us."
"You're going back to Hyrule?"
"Going back?" Sahir had an amused expression on his face. "Are you not returning?"
There's a baited silence from all three parties that are cut by the bells of the horses' rein being pulled.
"Yeah."
"Will you travel to another continent?" Yusef asks as the horses begin pulling the carriage along. His voice was less tense. He'd stopped his staring at Zelda, instead focusing his attention on the extra passenger. "It's been a while since I've heard anything of the Chosen Hero leaving Hyrule."
"Maybe," Link responds in a simple tone. "I don't know."
Tumblr media
S'avahili doesn't remember the last time she didn't suck up all her feelings as she left the battlefield.
Either way, she's ashamed to admit she still cries when she's alone, so many times after doing these cycles. It was the one thing she wished her subconscious hadn't tacked onto her internal schedule lifetime and lifetime again.
All she could taste was salt despite a month having passed since Gannondorf's burial. She had thrown up several times, both from refusal to eat and a frigid chill overwhelming all the systems of her body.
S'avahili's throat was sore and she hadn't been able to have a coherent thought in two weeks because of the migraines that had haunted her for the past two weeks.
It'd been a week since Ganondorf's burial and yet she still yearns to hold his hand, warm herself with the fires that burn beneath his skin, and help him cool down after an entire day's worth of training with their mothers— she couldn't care less. Just so long as she was able to feel his comfort before they were reincarnated again.
The world was uncharacteristically dark despite Ganondorf being gone. Din always refused to raise the sun until she was finished mourning her son. It happened every incarnation.
From what S'avahili had heard from Yusef, anyone who traveled relied on doing so in groups of seven or more. Torches weren't adequate enough to light more than a few wings-lengths ahead and monsters were acting as though every night was a blood moon.
(She was too tired to calm the monsters down. She had lost his mask long ago, but she doubted Agnar had anything to do with it.)
S'avahili covers her head with her blankets when she hears a pair of boots from outside the door of her room. There were very few options for who it could be.
No one who had access to the capital of the Gerudo wore boots.
Link's knocks to the wall were weak, full of hesitance. He was a little confident with the first and second, a few seconds cutting between the third and eventual fourth.
Was he trying to annoy her into answering? Knocking some secret code they had made in another lifetime that his subconscious never forgot? Regretting his visit?
Did S'avahili care?
She wishes she didn't.
"Sand Bunny?" Link's voice was soft and reserved, unfitting of the fourteen-year-old farmhand. She's sure his voice would've cracked if he were any louder. Puberty was starting to hit him and, like always, it was essentially a golden Lynel charging straight at him.
S'avahili forces her head to lift from her pile of pillows, face freed from the silk fabric. "What," she croaks painfully, unsure of if it came out as a question or statement.
He doesn't need anything else to enter her room, using his back to push the curtain aside and slide inside. His eyes momentarily catch on the unfinished mural of her ceiling before he turns to reveal the tray of food in his hands.
"Your moms sent me up here." His drawl messes with the way he pronounces each word, making S'avahili squirm to turn on her back so she can better hear and understand him. Link briefly lifts the tray higher to bring her attention to the food plated on it, placing it on the foot of her bed once he was in close enough range. "They said you'd listen to a friend when they tell you to eat."
His voice returns to normal upon making her in the candle-lit room.
Still quiet, but more Link.
"When's the last time you ate?"
"I don't have to eat as often as a Hylian."
At some point, Link had a gentle smile on his face. It was quickly wiped off upon registering her reply. "'n' how often is that?"
".. .. .. Often enough.."
He was well enough acquainted with her tastes to know what order she wanted to eat each plate.
Link starts small with the less filling food, wiping his hand off on his shirt, having long abandoned the matching green tunic and cap. He picks the fruit up with his fingers, cupping a hand beneath it before pressing it to her lips. "Open."
"I'm not hungry."
"Stop bein' stubborn."
S'avahili turns on her side to face away from him and uses her hands to cover her face. "I didn't realize not having an appetite made me stubborn."
"S'avahili." Link puts the plate down and forces her to move onto her back again. He hops onto her bed for extra measure, sitting on her thighs to ensure she wouldn't turn again. "Koume says you haven't eaten in weeks and Kotake won't stop talking about how she has to keep the entire city from freezing over."
("S'avahili.")
(That certainly didn't make her feel any better.)
S'avahili removes her fingers from in front of her eyes, peeking out to look at him. "My mothers talked to you? The Heavens must be running rampant with malice."
"They love me," Link responds, picking the plate up to try again.
S'avahili lets out a guttural noise of displeasure. She lowers her hands but refuses to open her mouth or lips. "I'm not stupid," she groans, instead using her hands to push his away, "it'd do you better to visit Dread. I heard he came up with—"
"I didn't call you stupid," Link interrupts with a furrow in his brow. "'n' I wasn't called all the way down here just to leave because you said no. I always finish something if someone asks."
"This isn't some pre-destined fate given to you. You're just doing a friend a favor."
He rolls his eyes and instead feeds himself the food, shifting off of her to instead lay beside her. "You talk about fate a lot," he says, gaze focusing on the mural once more. Tracing each era with his eyes, he points at no one in particular. "It's very.. characteristic of you at this point."
"As a child, when our mothers are training my brother, I always beg him to tell me a story when he returns home for the night. It's always the story of," S'avahili briefly stops rasping to take hold of his wrist, directing it to an era where his hair was white, "the First War. It's just the origins of each race and what led to the Triforce being created, but I've always been fascinated by it— fate, I mean."
She pauses for a moment to rub at her eyes tiredly. "I guess I get it from him," she adds upon noticing Link staring at her rather than the mural.
"Can you tell it to me?— Our past lives too."
"You want me to tell you a bedtime story?"
"The sun hasn't risen in a month, every story is a bedtime story."
Clearing her throat and folds her arms over her stomach, S'avahili dabs at her eyes a final time. "Then get comfortable," she directs. "It's a long one."

New sewing project
I just realized that I haven't taken any pictures of my new sewing project -- while I'm sitting here wearing the nearly finished dress, lol. That's how quickly it's come together, which is just wild after all the months I spent on the last dress I made.
I'll take some pictures in the daylight tomorrow, but I figured I'd document a little of the process now, before getting back to work and getting the sleeves on. Also there's matching pants, and those just need their waistband casing and ankle cuffs and they'll be done too.
Oh yeah, and the fabric only arrived like three days ago. xD
The motivation behind this project was to sew something for wearing around the house during the winter -- something cozy for these darker months when all I feel like wearing is long witchy dresses and cozy layers. I don't have any costuming events to plan for, and this is a dress I've really wanted the last few years, so Jack encouraged me to actually draft the pattern and get the thing made so I can start wearing it already.
The concept is a cozy winter dress in a sort of pseudo cotehardie look -- maybe more Victorian Pre-Raphaelite medievalism than anything that would work at an SCA event, but in that sort of direction. I have just enough of a wool allergy to make wearing it next to my skin completely unbearable, and since I'm not trying for historical accuracy, I can really use any fabric I want. I prefer to use only natural fibers (or synthetics made from natural fibers, like rayon and viscose) in my wardrobe whenever possible, and I knew I wanted this dress to be heavy, warm, and soft inside.
After a bunch of searching around online, I found a 100% cotton sweatshirt fleece weighing in at about 7oz per square yard. I ordered a sample of the charcoal gray color, which turned out to actually be more of a slate blue-gray, but that suited me just fine. The sample washed and dried well, and stayed soft inside without pilling, so I knew I had a winner. That just meant I had to actually draft a pattern to match what I was thinking. I pinned a bunch of things on Pinterest, all kind of revolving around this sort of look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought about using a typical cotehardie pattern with triangular skirt gores, but since I knew I didn't want any sort of closures, lacings or otherwise, and because I was going to be working with a stretch knit, I decided I didn't want to try to mess with the accurate historical way of making dresses like these and just stick with a tried and true princesses seam pattern that I know fits me.
So I ended up adapting my pattern for Rhaenyra's red dress to draft this one. I kept the basic 10 panel shape, but drafted out the center front seam, and added some height to the tops of the sleeves so I can properly set them in (rather than lacing them on with some shoulder showing). I raised the neckline in the back to the nape of the neck, and rounded both the back and front necklines, rather than the V-shape of the Rhaenyra dress.
I also added a tiny amount, like 2mm, to each seam from the waist up, so that I could pull the whole thing over my head and not have to worry about a zipper. And I widened the skirts a bit from the hips down, since I'm not trying to replicate a screen-used look, and so I could have even more swish in the skirt. The wider skirts (and heavier fabric) also allowed me to put invisible pockets on the side-front seams, which the Rhaenyra dress really couldn't handle.
I also decided to draft some matching pants to wear underneath the dress, for those days when I really can't get warm. I used a pajama pants pattern that I drafted last year, widened the legs a bit so they're straight up and down, and raised the waistline a tiny bit so I can put a wider piece of elastic into it. I also drafted out the side seam pockets, since the dress itself will have pockets. I may yet go back and add welt pockets to the back of the pants, but we'll see.
The pajama pants I based the pattern on generally fit pretty well, but the only problem with them is that they're so wide at the ankle that they like to creep all the way up to my knee at the slightest provocation and leave my lower leg rather cold. Since these fleece pants will be even wider, and since the point of this is to be warm and cozy, I knew I wanted the ankle to come in nice and close. But I also didn't want to gather the lowest edge, since the fabric is so heavy.
After looking around at a bunch of pictures and patterns online, I figured what the hell, I know what I'm doing, and these are really only going to be worn under the dress (or other long skirts) anyhow, so even if they end up weird looking, who cares. With a bunch of math I drafted two extra pattern pieces that basically form a 3/4 skirt for the bottom of each pant leg, with the 'waist' of the 'skirt' around my ankle, and the circumference sewn to the end of the pant leg. The result is fluffy and round and ridiculous, but I think will suit my needs quite well.
Once I had all of my pattern pieces drafted, I laid them out on the floor at half the 64" width of the fabric, and then measured how much length I would need, rounding up a little for the ~5% shrinkage that happens when the fabric is washed. I placed my order just over a week ago, on December 9th, and it arrived -- all 6 yards and 5 pounds of it -- on this past Thursday, the 14th.
I washed and dried it on Friday, then started cutting out all the pieces (26 in total, for the dress and the pants) that afternoon. I'd also ordered cotton thread in a coordinating color, and that didn't arrive until yesterday afternoon, by which point I had most of the pieces cut out. Last night I pinned as many of the seams as I could and this morning I wound a bobbin and tested out my tension and stitch length on a scrap piece of fabric and then got straight to sewing.
To say this came together faster than the last dress would be a massive understatement, lol. The Rhaenyra dress is two layers of silk, both of which wiggled around and refused to stay on grain, frayed easily, and needed all the raw edges finished and fully enclosed. This winter fleece dress is shaped nearly identically, but the fleece fabric doesn't fray at all, doesn't slip and slide when I cut it, and generally has a pretty easy to find grainline. The only piece that gave me any trouble was the center front, since it doesn't have a straight outer edge to align with the knit, and for that one I just thread-traced straight down the canyon between two lines of knitting, and then lined up the center of the pattern piece with that, easy peasy.
So after three days of actual cutting and sewing, I am sitting here in something that is decidedly dress-shaped, and wonderfully warm and soft and cozy. I still need to attach the sleeves, tack down the pockets, and then hem the sleeve ends, neckline, and skirt hem, but I'm feeling like I might actually be able to accomplish most of that tomorrow.
For the pants I need to sew on the ankle cuffs and turn under the waist casing and add elastic, both of which should be pretty quickly done. I should be able to have both done by the middle of this week, I think, unless something major comes up, with work or otherwise. We've got a big rainstorm coming in this week, after a few warm days, and winter solstice on Thursday, so it would be lovely to actually be able to wear this by then.
My long-term plan for this dress, besides just wearing it around the house all winter long, is to make other pieces to layer over top of this, both for fashion and for function, sideless surcoats and vests and aprons and such. I might end up making a second fleece dress out of another color eventually, but even then I would want all the pieces to be interchangeable.
The look I'm going for is something I haven't seen anywhere else, but I'm thinking of it as sort of medieval cottagecore, or practical 14th century historybounding, all influenced by Pre-Raphaelite paintings and my own take on mori kei and strega fashion. Layers and long full skirts, body-skimming through the torso but not tight, practical and functional but still witchy and a bit unusual, all in natural fibers and the colors most commonly found in my closet already.
I'll take some photos of the dress in progress in the daylight tomorrow, and more pictures later in the week once it's finished. Provided I can actually talk myself into taking off the nearly-finished dress, which has been so very cozy and comfortable while I've typed up all of this, lol.

Understanding Oil Viscosity: Why It Matters for Engine Performance and Protection
When it comes to protecting your engine, oil viscosity is the single most important property of a lubricant. Yet, many enthusiasts and even seasoned mechanics misunderstand what those viscosity numbers on oil bottles—like 10W-30 or 20W-50—really mean.
In this article, Driven Racing Oil’s Lake Speed Jr., a certified lubrication specialist, breaks down what oil viscosity is, how it impacts engine performance, and how to choose the right viscosity grade for your application.
What Is Oil Viscosity?
Viscosity refers to a fluid's resistance to flow. A good way to visualize it is by comparing motor oil to maple syrup: both flow more slowly when cold and more easily when heated. In lubrication, this flow resistance is critical to forming an oil film that protects engine components from wear.
Breaking Down Viscosity Numbers (Like 10W-30)
The numbers you see on a motor oil container (e.g., 10W-30) describe the oil's multi-grade viscosity rating, as defined by SAE J300 standards:
The first number (e.g., 10W) represents the oil’s flow characteristics at cold temperatures. The "W" stands for Winter, not weight.
The second number (e.g., 30) indicates the oil’s viscosity at high operating temperatures.
Multi-grade oils were developed to solve the seasonal limitations of straight-grade oils. For example:
A 10W oil flows well in cold weather, reducing wear during startup.
A 30-grade oil maintains protective film strength at operating temperatures.
A 10W-30 oil combines these benefits, providing better cold-start performance and high-temp protection.
Viscosity Grade vs. Viscosity Index
It’s important to distinguish two related concepts:
1. Viscosity Grade
This is the SAE number (e.g., 30, 50) and represents oil thickness at specific temperatures.
2. Viscosity Index (VI)
This measures how much the oil's viscosity changes with temperature. A higher viscosity index means the oil maintains a more consistent thickness across temperature extremes.
Conventional oils typically have a viscosity index around 100, while synthetic oils generally offer a higher viscosity index of about 150. For even greater stability across temperature ranges, mPAO-based synthetic oils boast a viscosity index approaching 200, making them ideal for high-performance applications.
Choosing the Right Oil Viscosity for Your Engine
Oil temperature plays a major role in selecting the correct oil viscosity grade. Here's how different race engines illustrate that:
NHRA Pro Stock Engine Runs at ~100°F → uses 0W-5
NASCAR Sprint Cup Engine Runs at ~220°F → uses 10W-30
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Runs at ~300°F → uses 15W-50
Your engine's operating oil temperature—not just outside ambient temperature—should guide your viscosity choice.
Why High Viscosity Index Oils Are a Game-Changer
Modern synthetic oils based on mPAO (metallocene polyalphaolefin) technology, like Driven Racing Oil have extremely high viscosity indices, providing:
Improved wear protection
More stable oil film under high loads
Enhanced fuel economy
Increased horsepower output
Driven Racing Oil utilizes this advanced base oil technology in all their synthetic racing and performance oils.
Proven Performance: Driven Racing Oil
While using the Driven Racing Oil system of lubricants, Joe Gibbs Racing won:
✅ Over 8 NASCAR Championships
✅ More than 100 race wins
These results are dyno-tested and race-proven, proving that selecting the right oil viscosity not only protects your engine—it also helps you win.
Final Thoughts on Oil Viscosity
Understanding oil viscosity—and choosing the right viscosity grade for your engine—is critical for reducing wear, improving fuel economy, and maximizing horsepower. Whether you drive a street car, track car, or race professionally, using the correct oil viscosity will keep your engine running stronger and longer.
