I can’t be the only one who thinks that Miss peregrines home for peculiar children would thrive as an animated or stop motion TV series. Maybe one day we’ll get our Percy Jackson treatment 😔😔

Would anyone be interested in joining a MPHFPC discord server? Or is there one already?
I looked on disboard but all of the MPHFPC servers are just role play and I’m looking more for a community server for making friends, sharing art, discussing the books, etc.
So yeah if there isn’t one already I’m probably going to make one, lmk if you’d be interested in joining!!

Blood Warning!!!
Happy draw Fiona day!
I’m not much of an artist, but when I saw this trend going around I knew I had to post something. So, I drew a few snippets from my favorite scene from Conference of the Birds!

Okay, I know I said that I didn't like the second trilogy of MPHFPC, but I don't want to only focus on the negatives, so here are some things I enjoyed about it:
The Peculiar Children interacting with the modern world.
Getting to see more of their personalities.
Getting to see more of the Peculiar World.
More Ymbrynes!
Millard and Lilly (I'd read a whole book about them, I'm not even kidding. I wish we'd gotten to see so much more of them- I don't reread the second trilogy, but I do reread their scene together).
Fiona being brought back :)
Thats all I can think of for now. But for anyone who thought I'd hate them for having a differing opinion, I promise I won't. I didn't care for the second trilogy, but I can still find good parts of it. And if you did enjoy it, that's wonderful! Even if you prefer it, that's still wonderful! I only asked my question because I was curious, not to spread any sort of hate in our already small fandom.

Top tier simping post
or "Why Horatio is the deepest and most underrated mphfpc character"
Horatio appeared twice in A Map of Days and Conference of the Birds /don’t remember exactly, this two fused together in my head/and literally starring in last ten chapters of The Desolations of Devil's Acre.
He has more context in his few chapters of presence than anyone else has in six books!
His contradictory feelings for H, the decision to protect the children by prioritizing their lives over his own even though he doesn't have to actually. The consequences are for adults [yeah, Jacob?], so Horatio loses his arm while saving kids. None of other characters were injured equally.
[i remember that Fiona lost her tongue but she still can speak somehow]
Horatio is responsible and has a strong sense of duty. He's also the only person in the damn series who speaks straight without being inappropriately mysterious. Jacob needed it. I needed it.
Horatio is stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure im not sure about father figure i see him more like teacher / mentor
/// i already posted about this alternate ending so please check this out!
I also like Sharon. And I'm upset that nothing is known about him at the end of tdoda...
Another one thing I want to specify:
Horatio's appearance
We have this picture in book and i like it BUT he was described in the text as blond so—
He looks so young my poor little meow meow;;
— so I immediately associated him with Nanami Kento from Jujutsu Kaisen anime
Nanami-san is sharing same character features [stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure]. He's calm and responsible. ALSO! he’s wearing glasses completely covering his eyes almost all the time.
Stylish... handsome man...
All right, all right, I'll stop simping! Just one more thing! His way of speaking sounds a little mechanical, so the voiceover suits Horatio, too
youtube
And lastly, the wise words of a wise man.
youtube
You've fased several life-or-death situations. But that does not make you an adult.

Monster girl October tarot day 27: The Simorgh from Conference of the Birds as the King of Wands!
The Simurgh/Simorgh appears in a lot of Persian literature, most often being portrayed as a kind of dog-bird hybrid or as similar to a phoenix. She will raise heroes or offer her feathers as a way for protagonists to request her aid in some of these stories. However, I liked the portrayal in Conference of the Birds where a group of birds (each representing a human weakness) decide the legendary, wise Simorg will be their king and travel far to reach her. However when the 30 birds remaining on the quest make it to the spot the Simurgh is said to be, all they find is a lake where their own reflection is shown back to them (there's a pun here too! Directly translated, Si= 30, murgh= birds). The king of wands is a card that suggests leadership, inspiration, and the ability to manifest your goals!

A clamour of complaint rose from the birds: ‘Although we recognize you as our guide, You must accept—it cannot be denied— We are a wretched, flimsy crew at best, And lack the bare essentials for this quest. Our feathers and our wings, our bodies’ strength Are quite unequal to the journey’s length; For one of us to reach the Simorgh’s throne Would be miraculous, a thing unknown. At least say what relationship obtains Between His might and ours; who can take pains To search for mysteries when he is blind? If there were some connection we could find, We would be more prepared to take our chance. He seems like Solomon, and we like ants; How can mere ants climb from their darkened pit Up to the Simorgh’s realm? And is it fit That beggars try the glory of a king? How ever could they manage such a thing?’ The hoopoe answered them: 'How can love thrive In hearts impoverished and half alive? “Beggars”, you say—such niggling poverty Will not encourage truth or charity. A man whose eyes love opens risks his soul— His dancing breaks beyond the mind’s control. When long ago the Simorgh first appeared— His face like sunlight when the clouds have cleared— He cast unnumbered shadows on the earth, On each one fixed his eyes, and each gave birth. Thus we were born; the birds of every land Are still his shadows—think, and understand. If you had known this secret you would see The link between yourselves and Majesty. […] Ayaz’s sickness Ayaz, afflicted with the Evil Eye, Fell ill. For safety he was forced to lie Sequestered from the court, in loneliness. The king (who loved him) heard of his distress And called a servant. “Tell Ayaz,” he said, “What tears of sympathy I daily shed. Tell him that I endure his suffering, And hardly comprehend I am the king; My soul is with him (though my flesh is here) And guards his bed solicitous with fear; Ayaz, what could this Evil Eye not do, If it destroys such loveliness as you!” The king was silent; then again he spoke: “Go quickly as a fire, return like smoke; Stop nowhere, but outrun the brilliant flash That lights the world before the thunder’s crash. Go now; if you so much as pause for breath My anger will pursue you after death.” The servant scuttled off, consumed with dread, And like the wind arrived at Ayaz’ bed— There sat his sovereign, by the patient’s head! Aghast, the servant trembled for his life And pictured in his mind the blood-smeared knife. “My king,” he said, “I swear, I swear indeed, That I have hurried here with utmost speed— Although I see you here I cannot see How in the world you have preceded me; Believe my innocence, and if I lie I am a heathen and deserve to die.” His sovereign answered him: “You could not know The hidden ways by which we lovers go; I cannot bear my life without his face, And every minute I am in this place. The passing world outside is unaware Of mysteries Ayaz and Mahmoud share; In public I ask after him, although Behind the veil of secrecy I know Whatever news my messengers could give; I hide my secret and in secret live”.’
ㅤ— Farīd ud-Dīn Attar, from The Conference of the Birds, trans. Afkham Darbandi and Dick Davis, lines 1064-81 and 1134-61.
ㅤ“Love thrives on inextinguishable pain,/ Which tears the soul, then knits the threads again.”
ㅤ“When love has pitched his tent in someone's breast,/ That man despairs of life and knows no rest./ Love's pain will murder him, then blandly ask/ A surgeon's fee for managing the task—/ The water that he drinks brings pain, his bread/ Is turned to blood immedeatly shed;/ Though he is weak, faint, feebler than an ant,/ Love forces him to be her combatant;/ He cannot take on mouthful unaware/ That he is floundering in a sea of care.”

“Take me to church
I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Oh, good God, let me give you my life.”
— Hozier, “Take Me to Church”
I did a thing for a class assignment and I thought it looked neat so I scanned it so I could post it here :)

❝A Sufi awoke one night and said to himself, 'It seems to me that the world is like a chest in which we are put and the lid shut down. We give ourselves to foolishness. When death lifts the lid, he who has acquired wings soars away to eternity, while he who has not, stays in the chest prey to a thousand tribulations.' Make sure then that the bird of ambition acquires wings of aspiration ... Before the lid of this chest is opened become a bird of the Spirit, ready to spread your wings.❞
— Farid al-Din Attar, Conference of the Birds (trans. C.S. Nott, with minor edits), 76 #30. [Ayn Kha]
