How much were the NBA’s top scorers paid per point in the 2023-24 regular season
The Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder were crowned champions for the regular season in the Eastern and Western NBA Conferences, respectively. The scoring title went to Slovenian prodigy Luka Doncic, who averaged 33.9 points through 70 matches, dethroning last season’s winner, Joel Embiid, whose recent campaign was interrupted by injuries. The latest Sportingpedia report investigates…

people smarter than i have pointed out other major issues with it but another one of my Things with the pwhl expansion draft is how this format of each Already Very New team losing several big name players has to be sooo bad for fan retention, especially for people just getting into watching the league. you settle in, you pick a favorite team, you get familiar with all the players finally. and then you literally lose such a significant chunk of them. and its not like you're losing your bottom pairing and 2/3 of your 4th line or your backup goalie or something. no! it is the top scorers on the team, it is the shiny new rookies, it's your most solid defenders, it's your starter goalie, it's your fucking captain!!!
imagine just getting into a team and then that team is immediately gutted and entirely changed from the reasons you stuck with this team. because ultimately! yes theres geographical loyalties and everything But At The End Of The Day most people stay fans because of their loyalty to a team. as in to the players. especially in a league where there are only 6 teams. so when you're forcing such intense changes into such a young league ... people are left wondering what they're even supposed to be loyal to, because it's not the Notable Quarter Of A Team they just lost!!!!!
imo you can't hope that people will stay fans of a team because of Team Loyalty when you just completely changed what their team is, first of all, and second of all when the league is SO young. we've technically only seen one (1) FULL season! the inaugural season started Weird and Late . the team you JUST fell in love with is COMPLETELY different now and you still probably aren't familiar with many of the players in the league if you're a casual fan! i'm sure its better for diehards who are like well at least we can sign x, y and/or z, but newer fans who aren't familiar are just like . well what the fuck is even left on my team.
and like. i'm sure this will build to something beautiful and large or Whatever one day but currently the way they've been building this league has been consistently unfriendly to fans and also. to the players lol
#i miss u phf#also i could just be spewing nothing but idk#wait let me put this into stars terms again for my non woho friends#imagine if u got into the stars this year at some point and then this summer they got rid of robo esa harls and wyatt#would it not be hard to stay a fan of this team when youre like WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED. i feel like it would be !#and like. i went to the first ever fleet game. ive quite literally been There since day one. i keep very much up with pwhl news and players#and even i'm like . man what the fuck is left for us. so i cant imagine a casual fan being encouraged by what just happenedd#anyways ill shut up abt the draft now

Evgeni Malkin said he's always felt slightly overlooked.
One of the premier centers of his generation, the 37-year-old has played his NHL career as the second center on the Pittsburgh Penguins behind longtime teammate Sidney Crosby. He was the No. 2 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. Alex Ovechkin, possibly the only Russia-born player more statistically accomplished, went No. 1 to the Washington Capitals.
Malkin doesn't mind. Actually, it's just the way he likes it.
"I'm not the kind of guy that wants media around me. I like to be quiet a little bit," Malkin said. "I want to just play the game. Probably, people want, like, my private life a little bit more. But I'm, like, a little bit closed.
"Maybe my English is not good before, not talk too much with media. Again, this is kind of myself. I'm OK with that because I know I'm a good player."
Numbers do talk, though. In his 18th season, Malkin is third in Penguins history with 1,261 points, 485 goals and 776 assists, trailing Mario Lemieux (1,723 points; 690 goals, 1,033 assists) and Crosby (1,540 points; 571 goals, 969 assists).
Ovechkin reached out after Malkin eclipsed Fedorov.
"He's a star in the League," Ovechkin said. "I think he's a tremendous player. He knows how to win. He knows how to play. It's not a surprise he has so many points, so many goals and assists."
"People are talking about Ovi a lot. They talk about (Connor) McDavid. They talk about (Nathan) MacKinnon," Letang said. "You don't hear Geno's name a lot. What he's been able to do in this league for that long and at this age still, being the goal scorer that he is, it's just special.
"I think it's always been (that way), except maybe the year he won the Hart and everything. I think it's always been a little bit like that. He's not seen to his true color."
Without Malkin, Crosby said his NHL career would have been more difficult. That pair, along with Letang, has won the Stanley Cup three times (2009, 2016, 2017). They qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 16 consecutive seasons together before missing them last season.
"There are nights where you don't feel great or have your best," Crosby said. "You're watching Geno do his thing out there. That's happened a lot. I think we've pushed each other over the years, but he's a guy that has always stepped up when he needs to. I think that's just the competitive nature in him.
"I think the consistency is the biggest thing. You don't have that kind of consistency without being as competitive as he is. He's been amazing for a lot of years. The stats show it."
"I think the biggest thing for me that I admire about Geno is how competitive he is," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "Just his competitive spirit is off the charts. His will to win, his want to win, and his will and want to score and produce offense. I don't think anyone likes scoring goals more than 'G.' You can see it in his raw emotion when he scores.
"Sometimes, I don't think Geno gets the credit that he deserves in the hockey world for the body of work that he's put together in this league and how talented he is. He's without a doubt one of the greatest players of all-time."
love a good geno lovefest

dallas wings analysis
hypothetically speaking if i was the coach of this dallas wings team this would be my strategy:
defense creates offence. we’ve all heard that saying a millions times but for a team that claims they prioritize defence, they are probably one of the worst defensive teams i’ve ever seen. this all inevitably comes down to one big question: what makes a good defensive team? it’s not just about a few players blocking and stealing (ex. paige and lyss). it’s all about consistency and focus. when you take a look at some of best defensive players in the nba, lou dort for example, you notice not only his sheer talent and athleticism but also his inability to give up. he dives for that ball, he stays on his toes, he fights over screens, he pays attention to little things like having his arms out during pick and rolls, he face guards every one (i could praise him for hours). this is the type of energy i need to be seeing from this so-called defensive team. it genuinely comes down to those smaller details that often go unnoticed.
once again on the defensive side of things, this team lacks depth in not only their overall roster but also in their literal players. almost all of the players on this team are heavily struggling in a major area of the game but refuse to improve or adapt on a game-to-game basis. take arike for example; she’s quick, shifty and a very talented scorer but then she’s also inefficient, has poor shot selection and can’t handle being double teamed with on-ball pressure. another example is lyss; she’s big, incredibly strong, can rebound and crash the glass but then she’s also slow, inconsistent and lacking energy most of the time. this team NEEDS so focus on creating a versatile and adaptable line up that knows how to handle themselves on both sides of the floor.
in-game adjustments: one of the things that irritates me most about bad coaching decisions is when the coach refuses to admit they were wrong. i understand chris’ mentality of like “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” when it comes to the line ups because realistically they’re not losing games by large margins. often times it looks like they could easily take control of the game but that’s just simply not good enough to sustain leads let alone take wins. when we take a look at rick carlisle (indiana pacers head coach), he never shys away from picking someone off the bench who can come in a shift the momentum of the game (this also comes back to my 2nd point of this team lacking depth) but this dallas team has literally no one on the bench that you can rely on to do that.
try out different line up sizings and styles: i’m a big advocate for changing the spacing on the floor when you can’t get stops and this dallas team struggles heavily in that area. i believe that by trying out a simple double or even single big line up (lyss and siegrest would be my starters but constantly switching) and keeping everything else smaller (for example paige, nai, jj and rike) this could help tremendously with opening up the floor but also increasing the overall speed, endurance and shiftiness of the line up. this team often looks visibly slow out there so by having more explosive players on the floor it will immediately increase the teams energy and allow them to establish better court pressure and force some turnovers to generate more offensive opportunities.
this team is a mess in transition both offensively and defensively. if i was the head coach we would spend a significant amount of time focusing on fast break plays as well as how to set up good transition defensive. most times it looks like their scrambling to get back when they turn the ball over or miss offensive rebounds which causes them to make stupid mistakes and allows the offence to score on almost every one of these possessions.
i could keep going but i’m gonna stop now. i wanna mention that i study this game for a living im an academy basketball coach (i’m 19 though still new) so while i haven’t seen every single game of this season i can get a pretty good idea based off the 6 or 7 that i’ve watched.

What if Tiny was an AFLW player instead of football?
i wish wish aflw was more supported with the push to be fully professional within the next decade and they got to play more than 10 games a year :') hopes and dreams though
-- Tiny would have started her semi-pro career with St Kilda, the joy of playing for the club she supported as a kid. But she'd probably end up at a top aflw club like North Melbourne, or if she wanted to make a move interstate maybe Brisbane
-- Steph would love seeing Tiny play for St Kilda, obviously. Tiny would also have the number 7 and they would give each other one of their jersey's so even when they're far from each other they would still have each other
-- Tiny would be a small forward, pocket forward and every season she'd be right at the top of the goal scorers, very consistent performances, one of the best in her positions
-- She'd win the leagues best and fairest a few times, and if not she'd definitely be up there in the top 3 most years
-- I had an ask once someone saying Tiny being the Alexia of aflw and that would very much be true. Growing up supporting the mens league she just has that passion for the game that gives her that edge when playing. Always trying her best, helping her teammates and others etc
-- Tiny would be one of the players with the most years selected for the womens all-australian team (one year vice captain, two years as captain)
-- Kyra and Tiny's relationship would look different though:
-- Kyra and Tiny would still meet through Steph, not much before the world cup and Kyra would still be going to Arsenal after the world cup.
-- They still become really good friends, but their relationship takes a lot longer to develop (if it develops into anything more with Tiny living in Aus and Kyra in England)
-- Even if just friends they'd be super supportive of each other and, despite time differences, always try to watch each other's matches whenever they could, just like trying to call and talk to each other
-- Kyra wishes they'd met, that she knew Steph, when she was still playing in Aus, but then maybe she might not have taken her career overseas
-- Whenever Kyra would come back to Aus, she'd always make sure to see Tiny. They'd always kick around either kinds of footballs and if Kyra was visiting during Tiny's preseason she would do as much as she could with Tiny (mainly just all the preseason running) and then claim Tiny was torturing her, all dramatic
-- Tiny constantly trying to convince Kyra to come back to Aus and play aflw with her, mostly half joking, or just trying to get Kyra to come back and play a league again (always complaining about each other being far away)

What recognition does Azzi deserve? Injuries have derailed her career unfortunately. And when she’s been healthy, she’s inconsistent. She’s either been a good scorer or not a good scorer. And she seldom impacts the game beyond scoring. I think she can be an amazing player if she can stay healthy and become consistent. But she hasn’t. Just a role player right now. Maybe sue can step up when she and Paige aren’t on the same team.
this is exactly why! people doubt her because she constantly gets injured and pin it on her like it’s her fault. Say she does go healthy the whole W season, (And I PRAY to God she does) and say that her and paige were on the same team, people will still find a way to doubt Azzi which is so ridiculous to me. i bet it’d be that group of people to say, “It’s only a matter of time before she gets injured again” She deserves all the hype and recognition she can and as I stated before, she won’t be able to do such things if she and p are on the same team. Y’all cannot blame that girl for being “inconsistent” if she’s trying to get back into the rhythm.

Logan’s radios break my heart every week, it really feels like he’s got no more fight. Someone please hug him, everything just seems to go wrong for him. This was the one weekend he was finally going to get all the upgrades and have the exact same car as Alex…and then the new floor didn’t correlate or respond the way Alex’s does so they had to go back to the old spec. It really feels like all the cards are stacked against him😭
Yeah he just seems to have had so much working against him.
I’m not a Logan expert at all so this is just my opinion but from what I understand he probably jumped up to F1 too soon and could have done with another season in F2. I think that means his first season was always going to be shaky but really it should have been this season that he settled into things and showed that he can deliver consistent performances.
The problem is that he had a lot of bad luck at the start of the season that wasn’t even his fault, like having to give up his car! On top of that it seems despite deciding to keep him on for this season Williams weren’t really planning on giving him the season to develop and have openly said they want to replace him. To me that just means that rather than be able to focus on putting in consistent performances he has had to try and push more than he should to try and do something spectacular to somehow save his seat and this really hasn’t helped because it just means he is going to over drive the car and have accidents.
He’s also got the added problem that if he is going to be out of a seat at Williams it’s hard for him to prove to another team he is worth taking on because he has been driving around without the upgrades so is going to look even worse comparatively to Albon.
I do get that F1 is cutthroat and you need to perform but he does seem to have had a lot working against him. Honestly it might do him the world of good to go to another race series next year where he can build his confidence back up and show what he can do. There would be absolutely no shame in doing that, maybe he could return to F1, maybe not. He is always going to be an F1 point scorer and there are very talented drivers out there who can’t even say that.
But yes, he needs someone to hug him and praise him please!

lila i actually dont think kk has been consistent at all. she brings a spark and has more dawg than the rest of the team but her actual play is vastly unimproved from last year. frantically driving no matter who's in the paint very predictable still
girl what 😭 kk’s improved IMMENSELY since last year and she’s been consistently showing up since she got going earlier in the season. she’s the MOST improved since last year out of everyone and hasn’t had a flop game since she got going earlier in the season? this isn’t even just opinion just look at the games since christmas and see who has shown up. she was the third leading scorer last game too. to say she’s ”vastly unimproved from last year” is just factually incorrect 🧍🏻♂️

Session Live Event Guide
Clear live event missions and collect points and rewards by playing the event song collaboratively with other players! Basic rundown:
Play the special event song to get the most event points.
Event points naturally unlock rewards.
Use received pink tickets from event points (not blue tickets from missions) to redeem permanent costume unlocks.
Accessing the Event:
When the event starts, the app will restart/return to the home screen and inform you that the event has begun. A popup with the event's logo will ask if you want to be taken to the event page. Hit confirm on the right if you do.
Otherwise, you can navigate to the event on the tab between the MiniPri and Live Buttons, or the scrolling banner on the bottom left corner. You can also play the event by going to the normal Live page and playing the event song from there.
Event Page:
On the top right of the main event screen are three buttons:
Event Missions/イベントミッション Event missions only visible after you play a live.
Event Bonus/イベントボーナス Shows which URs give a bonus during the event.
Event Item Exchange/アイテム交換 Will take you to the event exchange tab of the item exchange page. Here you can redeem Event Tickets for permanent costume unlocks (different to the costume rental/costume rental tickets on live setup.)
To the left of the Live/ライブ button is your total current event points. If you tap here you can see the rewards that are unlocked as you get more event points.
Event Song/Gameplay:
Chose a song to play. All songs will reward event points, but the event song and use of the 'Event Boost' penlight item will greatly boost the amount of event points gained.
During the event, the event song is set to the 'All' attribute, meaning that any attribute of Piece will be equally affective.
Additionally, all players' Song Rank for the event song to MAX at Rank S, meaning that during the event all item drops and EXP will be x1.2 for the event song.
It seems to be best to play on the difficulty that you can consistently get the best combo with.
*Make sure to play the event song version, not the regular version.
Select an eligible idol, an Emotional Piece of them, and a costume. Below the displayed costume, you can 'rent' an event costume using Costume Rental Tickets (white with blue rectangle, these are different to the ones used to get permanent costume unlocks). Wearing the event costume will give extra event points.
It's probably best to choose your strongest eligible Piece of an eligible member to play the song.
Make sure to set the best option of Piece and outfit for each eligible idol, not just the one you're using. I assume the game may not always use your chosen member depending on the random people you are matched with. Swipe left or right, or use the arrows on the sides of the white box to change between characters.
You can use your items to help you during the song at the bottom of the screen (Shield, drop rate UP, event boost) as well as change the amount of LP consumed.
If you choose to play in 2d mode, this popup will confirm that the outfit you chose will not be shown. Check the box and tap the button on the right to confirm.
Play the song as usual. You may want to set the BG to 2D if you are prone to lag.
You will be matched with other players and play the song normally, but perform as if your chosen Pieces are one unit. Meaning, you will get bonuses depending on how well you and other people play.
Scoring:
Here you can see I earned 525 event points. At the bottom is displayed the next event point reward. Event points are calculated by: Song Bonus / 楽曲ボーナス Event Skill Bonus / イベントスキルボーナス Event Boost / イベントブースト (from using the glowstick item) Contribution Bonus / 活躍ボーナス
You will also be shown some statistics, like if you were the top scorer or had the highest combo of your group.
General Tips/Info:
Set your helpers to your strongest Pieces of each character, and use the strongest one.
If youre about to rank up before an event, its best to wait until it begins so you can use the extra LP as a boost when it starts.
Costume rental tickets at this stage are mostly useless once you have redeemed your first permanent costume. Feel freeto sue them for every live early on in the event since you won't need them later.
Event points, event boost (glowstick) item, costume rental tickets, costume exchange tickets, and some items gained from event login bonus will expire after the event period.
Setting LP usage to 0 gives less event points, but it is better than nothing.
Setting LP usage to 0 does still count towards event missions.
If you want to clear the event missions as quick as possible: Set LP usage to 0, and use a full team of the eligible members and play a song other than the event song until all missions are cleared.
LP usage of 2 seems to be most efficient.
During the event you can set LP usage to 10LP, but generally 10 is not recommended unless you are very short on time and otherwise unable to play.
Using a Skip Ticket will get less event points than if you play on your own since you miss out on the contribution bonus.
Redeem the costume for the member you have the best Piece of that you're using in the event.
Aim for 190,000 event points during the event period to collect all event costumes. (Previous goal was 70,000 points.)
Play count, score, and combos on the event song will not count towards their equivalents for the regular version of the song.
Play every difficulty of the event song to earn extra wish tones for Score and Combo ranks. 40 wish tones per difficulty, possible total of 160 wish tones for S combo and score on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert. Playing on 0 LP counts towards these goals.

My last post for tonight
Paige- P actually played pretty well. She did shoot well and I saw her playing more selfishly and hunting down her shot more. I know some people think she went incognito in the 3rd but she was being thrown around out there (partially by herself because she slipped more times than I can count) and I feel like she just became a little discombobulated. And I know she was in her head about those 5🥴 turnovers but she has to work on not letting that stuff carry into the next play. Regardless she’s not perfect and I know people expect her to play as if she is because she spoils us with her precision but pls keep that in mind. I’m sure she’s hard enough on herself she doesn’t need us chewing her out lol. And again… she was the leading scorer.
Azzi- Azzi mf Fudd. I don’t even know what to say. Everyone who said we didn’t need her can put a sock in it because after tonight I don’t wanna hear shi. There’s a reason she’s top 5 on most mock drafts without even having played a full season yet. Put some respect on her name. Her 3rd game back and she was still the second leading scorer. She actually saved us during the 3rd and it makes me happy to see how confident she is in her body. Also so glad to see her not limiting herself to the 3pt line. She honestly looks better than ever and I’m so excited to see where this season takes her. And I’m expecting to see her in the starting lineup from here on out.
Everyone else was a little disappointing. Basically all of our points came from the splash sisters which is unacceptable. I give Sarah and Jana some grace because they’re freshman and still adjusting but everyone else pls lock in. Kaitlyn needs to play like a vet. KK needs to stop driving to the basket as if she’s a foot taller than she actually is. Ashlynn needs to be consistent. I need her first 3 to start falling instead of having to put it up 3 times before it goes in. And if I see Ice shoot another 3 I’m gonna crash out because why are we doing that with time on the shot clock? That should be the last resort. Also I would like to see if in games like these we can bring Allie in to put up some 3s because right now P is the only one and that’s not gonna cut it.
-Overall I liked seeing how we dealt with this level of physicality and aggression. Also we needed a game like this to work through how we fight back (we still need to work on this because it can’t be just Paige and Azzi). Lastly I never wanna see anyone play on that court again. They were slipping and sliding like they were on an ice rink and it made me so nervous the entire game.

Alenoah thought to chew on a little
What if they were childhood friends that reunited on world tour?
Imagine if both of them used to be enrolled in this special gifted children program when they were like 6-7
And little Alejandro just breezing through the program, leaving everybody in the dirt except for one other participant there
Like they just have this entirely one sided academic rivalry as little children because Alejandro is fuming that there’s this other kid that always manages to score *slightly* higher than him hahahahahhahha
So at that age I’m assuming that while Alejandro can mask his emotions way better than the average 6-7 year old, he’s still a 6-7 year old so his thinly veiled envy is immediately picked up on by Noah
And then one day it just culminates to Noah point blank asking him “why are you so upset? It’s just a few marks at best.”
Tiny Spanish overachiever rendered speechless at his candidness because to him it *is* a huge deal while to his sworn rival (all in his head) those points are treated like nothing
Err ok this is actually getting longer than I anticipated but essentially it boils down to
Alejandro —> Noah
Seething childish fury at being bested mixed in with begrudging admiration at Noah’s capabilities. He can’t really tell if he wants to best him or be with him because everybody else in the program doesn’t catch his interest but Noah’s complacent attitude infuriates him—
Noah —> Alejandro
Just some uptight weirdo hahahahahahahah
Now this arrangement lasts for a few years? Maybe until they reach 10-11? Throughout the years they never really became close friends but they’re definitely familiar with one another since by that point, over half of the original group has since dropped out, leaving the highest scorers behind to continue on
Alejandro’s envy and admiration grew as well since Noah has consistently been the top of the class for years with him always getting second
However, he starts to notice Noah changing as well. He’s starting to fall asleep in lessons and he’s getting increasingly grouchy
It all comes to an end when Alejandro shows up one day and suddenly he’s now top of the class. He asks the teacher what happened to Noah and he’s told that he dropped out.
Yes, I’m putting that burnt out gifted kid energy into everything like it’s cheese on pasta
So now he has the position he’s always been vying for. Getting it like this feels a little hollow though.
Fast forward to world tour and Alejandro has the shocking realisation that the kid he used to look up to like an unattainable star turned into a giant sloth hahahahahaahahhahaha
This is just a small thought I’ve been thinking of. No clue what to do with it so here’s this post!
I just think these two having the dynamic of estranged childhood friends is pretty neat

Paige is annoying me with these bad games when bigger named people come to watch. She better pull it together in the WNBA bc this is getting embarrassing.
So I actually have a different perspective. This will be a longer read as I have a lot to say. 😆
It’s not up for debate that Paige clearly did not shoot well last night she had 8pts, but she did lead the team in rebounds and assists. She always finds a way to make an impact even if it’s not in the scoring metric.
Also I really doubt Paige is worried about who shows up as long as her team wins, being that she is team focused not personal stats focused.
I’m actually looking at this as a great thing. Paige NO LONGER HAS TO DO IT ALL! She can rely on other people now to score. This takes IMMENSE pressure off of her shoulders.
This is what UCONN has desperately LACKED in prior years where they’ve come up short. You need to have 3 consistent top level scorers on a team to win it all in any league (NCAA, NBA, WNBA).
With Paige not shooting well it’s opened the door for us to see the masterclass of Sarah, Kaitlyn, and also Azzi is now finding her rhythm (I do believe Azzi is okay). Also KK and Ash coming off the bench who started as freshmen a majority of the season last year.. is huge.
It’s important to understand that in the WNBA Paige will NOT be the #1 option in Dallas, at least not right away. That will be Arike as Paige will be a rookie, and Arike is the reigning WNBA all-star MVP and national champ at ND.
Paige will be free to do her thing without being crushed by pressure to carry the team. Her and Arike will make a great 1-2 punch.
I think everyone just needs to take a breath. I’m not worried about Paige, and neither should you!
