I just started cackling over a thought I had, and needed to share it. Omega is feeling very restless and wants something fun to do, so after some thought they start stretching really well, and then put on some running shoes. Wanders over to the rec room where the pack is all sitting around. We approach Soap who is most likely to react the best; slapping a hand on his shoulder and yelling: “you’re it! No tag backs!” And turning tail and sprinting back out of the rec room while giggling like crazy. Now you may be thinking, they are grown adults, but Soap and Gaz would absolutely play tag with us, and as much as Ghost and Price would think it might be childish…. The packs omega is running, and it will trigger their hunting instinct. Could consider it training. But also soap slowly turns back from us to everyone else, and then everyone just scatters.🤣
You know what's funny...I was just talking about something similar with a friend 😂
Except it wasn't playing tag, it was the reader having to write "'mega's snacks" on all her food because the guys would eat them otherwise. Kyle and John leave them alone because they're sane individuals. Johnny still tries and gets chased when he gets caught. Simon uses Johnny's distraction to sneak snacks for himself 😂
No but the reader so would do that. There's not far to run in the barracks but doing it as training? Just a bunch of kids out there playing tag and having fun chasing the reader. Until Johnny is it, then it's utter chaos. He's definitely the kid that took P.E. way too seriously. Super competitive and active and was always captain when playing sports.
#i was always picked last because i have the athleticism of a sloth#and the hand eye coordination of a blind rat#jokes on the american school system PE just made me hate exercise and being active#they really thought they did something with gym class#sure it was fun in like elementary school when we got to play games and roll around on scooters#those square ones that would almost amputate your fingers if you weren't careful#in my elementary school's gym there was a ramp down from one of the exit doors and we'd get to scooter down the ramp#fun times#back when life was easier#answered

Three skills you need to make beautiful art, in order of importance:
observation/perception
taste/creativity
coordination
Note that these are skills. They’re not gifts bestowed by some divine entity. And skills can be improved through practice.
Note, also, that I rank observational skills highest, even above creativity, because without strong observational skills, you won’t be able to identify your own mistakes. It’s also not intuitive to train.
Here’s a simple exercise to get you started:
Pick an aesthetically pleasing photo or artwork that doesn’t have obvious lineart. Turn up the contrast a bit if the colors are muddy. Print it out or import it to your choice of drawing software.
Put some tracing paper over it or turn down the opacity and make a new layer. Don’t use tracing paper that is *too* transparent.
Trace out the areas of light and shadow. Don’t get hung up on details, just the broad strokes. Fill in the shadows, try to stick to just 2-3 values of shadow. Try hard NOT to outline “objects” in the image. Try not to erase.
Now view your trace without the original image. Can you still recognize the original subject? Can you see where you messed up/want to make changes?
Now do it while looking *at* the image rather than tracing directly from it.
Compare your referenced drawing to the traced one.
Repeat steps 1-6 with new photos/images.
Once you feel confident, try drawing from a reference without tracing.
This exercise will help you learn how to use light and shadow to define 3D forms as 2D shapes. Questions you should ask yourself during this exercise:
Can you tell where the light is coming from?
Is it a strong or weak light source?
Is there more than one light source?
What kind of materials are you observing?
How does light interact with shiny surfaces versus matte ones? Soft versus hard? Round versus angular?
Where are the edges of light and shadow? Are they soft or hard edges? Is the transition gradual or abrupt?
How would you use these observations to depict something from your imagination?
#taste stems directly from observation#and coordination comes from physically going through the motions#imo coordination is the easiest thing to train#observation and perception are much harder#tracing is a valuable exercise for study#and shouldn’t be used to pass off something as your own work

Boost Your Athletic Performance with Eye Workouts: Best Tips for Athletes
In the world of sports, the difference between victory and defeat often comes down to split-second decisions and keen visual perception. Athletes rely heavily on their eyes to track a flying ball, assess opponents' movements, and make crucial judgments. To gain an edge in your athletic pursuits, consider incorporating eye workouts into your training regimen. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the world of eye workouts and provide you with tips and exercises to elevate your athletic performance.
Eye Workouts: The Key to Athletic Excellence
Athletic success isn't just about physical strength and endurance; it's also about mental agility and visual acuity. Your eyes play a pivotal role in how you perceive and react to your surroundings, making eye workouts a crucial aspect of your training routine.
The Science Behind Eye Workouts
Understanding how eye workouts benefit athletes is essential before delving into the exercises themselves. When you engage in targeted eye exercises, you're essentially training your eye muscles and enhancing the communication between your eyes and brain. This improved connection leads to quicker reaction times and enhanced peripheral vision.
Benefits of Eye Workouts for Athletes
Sharper Focus: Eye workouts help you maintain a laser-like focus on the task at hand, whether it's tracking a ball or spotting an opponent's weakness.
Improved Reaction Time: Enhancing your visual perception through eye exercises can significantly reduce your reaction time, giving you a competitive edge.
Better Coordination: Stronger eye muscles contribute to improved hand-eye coordination, a critical skill in many sports.
Reduced Eye Fatigue: Regular eye workouts can alleviate eye strain caused by prolonged screen time or intense training sessions.
Incorporating Eye Workouts into Your Training
Now that you understand the benefits, let's explore how you can integrate eye workouts into your training regimen effectively.
Warm-Up Exercises
Before diving into intense eye workouts, it's essential to warm up your eye muscles. These exercises prepare your eyes for more strenuous activities.
Eye Rolling: Gently roll your eyes in a circular motion, both clockwise and counterclockwise, for 30 seconds each. This exercise increases blood flow to your eye muscles.
Focus Shifting: Choose an object and switch your focus between it and an object in the distance. Repeat for one minute to improve your ability to shift focus quickly.
Strengthening Exercises
To enhance your athletic performance, you need exercises that target your eye muscles directly.
Pencil Push-Ups: Hold a pencil vertically at arm's length and slowly bring it closer to your nose while keeping it in focus. Repeat this movement for 10 reps. This exercise strengthens your eye's convergence ability.
Visual Tracking: Use a small moving object, like a pen, and follow it with your eyes as smoothly as possible. Do this for one minute in different directions to enhance your tracking skills.
Sport-Specific Exercises
Tailor your eye workouts to your specific sport to maximize their effectiveness.
Basketball Dribble Focus: While dribbling a basketball, focus on an object or point in the distance. This exercise improves your ability to maintain concentration during dynamic movements.
Tennis Ball Reaction: Have a partner throw a tennis ball at you from various angles. Try to catch it as quickly as possible, enhancing your reflexes and hand-eye coordination.
FAQs
Q: Can eye workouts improve my performance in team sports like soccer? A: Absolutely! Enhanced visual perception and quick decision-making are valuable assets in team sports. Eye workouts can give you a competitive edge.
Q: How often should I do eye workouts? A: Aim for at least 10-15 minutes of eye workouts daily, but adjust the duration based on your sport's demands and your individual needs.
Q: Are there any risks associated with eye workouts? A: When done correctly, eye workouts are safe. However, consult with a professional if you experience discomfort or pain during these exercises.
Q: Can eye workouts benefit non-athletes too? A: Yes, eye workouts are beneficial for everyone, not just athletes. They can help reduce eye strain and improve overall visual acuity.
Q: Will eye workouts replace regular physical training? A: No, eye workouts should complement your physical training, not replace it. A well-rounded regimen includes both physical exercises and eye workouts.
Q: How long does it take to see improvements in athletic performance? A: Results may vary, but with consistent practice, many athletes report noticeable improvements in a few weeks.
Conclusion
In the world of sports, every advantage counts. Boosting your athletic performance with eye workouts is a smart strategy that can give you the upper hand. By dedicating a portion of your training time to these exercises, you'll sharpen your focus, improve your reaction time, and ultimately enhance your performance on the field or court. Incorporate these eye workouts into your daily routine, and watch as your athletic prowess reaches new heights.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to gain a competitive edge. Start your eye workouts today, and prepare to see the difference on game day!

this thread is funny to read when the gym is the most accessible method of physical activity versus everything else that's been listed for me as a physically disabled person & the stuff they taught me in PT/OT is best done w/ gym equipment. that also makes the "natural" argument especially wack to me lol

circus skills are legit rewiring my brain
in january I started classes twice a week at the local circus school and now I can:
get to standing position on a trapeze higher than my head completely unaided
invert on straps, balance upside down, and move through different positions
do a handstand!!
like if you went back in time and showed teenage me adult me in one of these classes they'd be like "doing that with your body is a possibility?" and it'd be both about the transition and the acrobatics lmao
#the circus school is so good!!#I had Such Bad experiences with exercise in school#and the hypermobility arthritis combo joined with general disability stuff makes exercise ughghgh#but they're so good at making it fun and building on skills and setting up alternatives for people at different levels#like yes some people are doing incredibly fancy things at a way more advanced level#but there's only ever encouragement and adaptations for people who are struggling#my proprioception is still not great but I can feel it improving every session#like working on coordination helps you be more coordinated#what a concept#personal#own post
