• Cold Dark Matter is the restored contents of a garden shed exploded by the British Army at the request of the artist Cornelia Parker.
• The surviving pieces have been used by Parker to create an installation suspended from the ceiling as if held mid-explosion. Lit by a single lightbulb the fragments cast dramatic shadows on the gallery’s walls.
• The piece reminds me of how i was told time and time again with my project disruption ≠ destruction and while i think this is true i do think there’s components of destruction that coincide with disruption & pyrite, ie. in this piece the disruption of light, shadows, material and structure
• With feedback from Micheal about creating a structure of my own I practiced creating a sculpture and visualised it blown apart and the disruption it would cause to a structure, I made this using paper straws and disrupted it by tearing it apart, i documented the timeline of this piece above.
'...The great and the good also turned up for the exhibition private view which drew dames and dudes from across the art world and beyond such as Oppenheimer actor Cillian Murphy, Tate director Maria Balshaw, artists Tracey Emin and Cornelia Parker plus thespian Russell Tovey...'
